Well (1) you don't need to have lots of money or have a successful job to be in a relationship. It is necessary to have a job so you can stand off your feet and pay bills. But it should not be a necessity that you are rich to be in one. My boyfriend works at a job he plans to quit soon and I'm starting out on my art career but we work out just fine. Money should never be the glue that hold two people together. (2) Not true either. Actually, being in a relationship requires you to be vulnerable. When you mess up, you should be humble enough to say sorry. And sometimes hurt can be long-term. I am currently suffering anxiety right now but it's something my boyfriend and I battle together. Whenever I get an anxiety attack, I go to him to help me overcome it, not because I want him to solve it. He knows methods to help me and inspire me overcome anxiety. (3) Having too high standards is not good but so is having low standards or none at all. My one standard for a guy when I was single was the he's gentle and slow to anger and that is it. When I got to know my now-boyfriend and then-crush, I discovered he is those things and more. Don't lower your standards just to have a relationship. Having principles in life is what's gonna make you a strong person. (4) Debunked again. When you're in love, you're more than terrified to lose the one you love. Life is unpredictable and death is no discriminator and that is scary. You need to be able to communicate your fears to your partner and battle it together and overcome them. It still scares me that I could lose my boyfriend so quickly. But I have to remind myself to stay in the present and enjoy my time with him and make the most of our time together as I can. As to being needy, that's a different issue especially if your partner has mental health problems. You are a team and you should help them battle it. Clingy-ness is another story. That's the lack of trust and respect. You shouldn't be in a relationship if you won't let your partner be themselves and be okay with them hanging out with other people. And I say this because I've been in a relationship for a year. Your partner will never be perfect and neither can you. Sadly, that is not how life works. How do you think successful people succeed? Because they gave up when they failed once? There will be heartache, I tell you. But when you find someone who genuinely makes you happy and want to make happy, it's all worth it. Being rejected doesn't mean you're not important. I'm in an LDR relationship and I can tell you that is not the case. People who are in a relationship for the sake of having a bf or gf do PDA because they want to flaunt an show off and are pretty arrogant people. But sometimes, people display affection because it's genuine. Their partner might be scared or worried about an event or going on a ride in a theme park, they might need to calm down from being so excited, or they're just happy. Don't judge couples just because they look happy. Too much PDA is bad but a little smooch is no harm either. And since I am in an LDR, I am usually by myself. It's not weird. If you feel weird for being alone while you're in a relationship, that's not healthy and you are overthinking. You need to be able to have your own identity while being committed to someone. And, yes. Relationships are work. But if it's someone you genuinely love, it's worth it.
The first time I've ever been on a relationship, is both me and her have dedicated ourselves hiding our relationship. Just letting necessary people to know it. Family and our own wingman or wingwoman. And yeah, 6 people or less only know about it. Just because of that alone, we weren't focused on other's opinion, we were happy with each other being ourselves in the process, we were always focused on each other's problems or success for the day without having misconceptions from anybody else's. In short, our relationship was simple, and we avoided things that would cause major problems initially. We broke up a long time ago, but we really did enjoy each other's company. To be honest, i kind of disagree. If you're in a relationship, its okay if you need help fixing yourself. As long as the relationship isn't JUST to fix yourself, its always good to get some help. Also, walls dont get put down just like that. Walls are things that stay up and can be put down by other people. If someone can put down your walls and help you feel better, then they're a good person to date.
I agree on both points. Someone once told me that when a person wants to start a relationship with someone who is working on themselves and is honest about those issues - it's that person's decision to make. It's not wrong to let that connection happen out of fear your problems will hurt them, or they don't really know what they're getting into. I disagree about someone being able to take anothers wall down. You put the wall up, only you can take it down. Theres no perfect person who is going to come along and bring the walls down... once you get further into the relationship and start to see the imperfections of the person you'll end up hurting them.

If a relationship can form effortlessly, it is most often because of mutual feelings of lust or infatuation towards one another, which is reliant on physical attraction. Honestly I prefer no relationship at all. I don't want one. I have depression, anxiety disorder, and far more emotional and mental problems, too many to put my time and effort into someone else. I once liked this guy years ago then he started courting me but I intentionally and unintentionally did things that made him stop. I daydream about the "perfect" person while I'm I see myself "perfect" too. Which is why I'm not dating, I don't think I'm where I want to be. I'm working on myself.
It's not so much about being where you want to be. To me the ideal relationship is where both qualities and defects are a match. So partners are compatible and can deal with each other
I understand the list, but number 2 is a bit invalid. We are always working on our goals, careers, and hobbies. That is not a sign we should not be in a relationship. Some couples actually do all of that together.
Got out of a long term relationship about 7 years ago and have mainly stayed single and spent time figuring out myself and what I want from life. I feel like I have all right pieces in place to be awesome at a relationship. I'm loving, great listener, I respect boundaries, I have my own hobbies, friends and money, I get along with just about anyone, I genuinely care for people when they are in need, I am always trying to improve myself inside and out and am quick to say sorry when I mess up. I think the problem is that I am so content being single now. There's little to no drama being single. Yet I feel like according to society, that's not acceptable. Agh.

Trying to help someone out of their bad habits makes you feel like you're in control of them and they usually ignore you or start to feel like you look down to them . I also don't like it when someone keeps complaining about their problems ALL the time , it really gets negative energy all over the place and you feel like your problems are doubled

That statement you initially made is loaded with egoism -from a false self, built out of opinions, comparisons to others "common sense" etc. It is others estimation of you and wishes of how THEY think you should be. I feel like this might be part of my problem. I have anxiety and a low self esteem and I can't take compliments. Well (1) you don't need to have lots of money or have a successful job to be in a relationship. It is necessary to have a job so you can stand off your feet and pay bills. But it should not be a necessity that you are rich to be in one. My boyfriend works at a job he plans to quit soon and I'm starting out on my art career but we work out just fine. Money should never be the glue that hold two people together.
(2) Not true either. Actually, being in a relationship requires you to be vulnerable. When you mess up, you should be humble enough to say sorry. And sometimes hurt can be long-term. I am currently suffering anxiety right now but it's something my boyfriend and I battle together. Whenever I get an anxiety attack, I go to him to help me overcome it, not because I want him to solve it. He knows methods to help me and inspire me overcome anxiety.
(3) Having too high standards is not good but so is having low standards or none at all. My one standard for a guy when I was single was the he's gentle and slow to anger and that is it. When I got to know my now-boyfriend and then-crush, I discovered he is those things and more. Don't lower your standards just to have a relationship. Having principles in life is what's gonna make you a strong person.
(4) Debunked again. When you're in love, you're more than terrified to lose the one you love. Life is unpredictable and death is no discriminator and that is scary. You need to be able to communicate your fears to your partner and battle it together and overcome them. It still scares me that I could lose my boyfriend so quickly. But I have to remind myself to stay in the present and enjoy my time with him and make the most of our time together as I can. As to being needy, that's a different issue especially if your partner has mental health problems. You are a team and you should help them battle it. Clingy-ness is another story. That's the lack of trust and respect. You shouldn't be in a relationship if you won't let your partner be themselves and be okay with them hanging out with other people.
And I say this because I've been in a relationship for a year. Your partner will never be perfect and neither can you. It's either you accept that you both can't be but you can always strive to be the best versions of yourselves together or you can stay alone, trying to find a perfect partner or tire yourself out to try to be perfect when you can never be.

I'm in an LDR relationship and I can tell you that is not the case. People who are in a relationship for the sake of having a bf or gf do PDA because they want to flaunt an show off and are pretty arrogant people. But sometimes, people display affection because it's genuine. Their partner might be scared or worried about an event or going on a ride in a theme park, they might need to calm down from being so excited, or they're just happy. Don't judge couples just because they look happy. Too much PDA is bad but a little smooch is no harm either.
And since I am in an LDR, I am usually by myself. It's not weird. If you feel weird for being alone while you're in a relationship, that's not healthy and you are overthinking. You need to be able to have your own identity while being committed to someone. And, yes. Relationships are work. But if it's someone you genuinely love, it's worth it.
The first time I've ever been on a relationship, is both me and her have dedicated ourselves hiding our relationship. Just letting necessary people to know it. Family and our own wingman or wingwoman. And yeah, 6 people or less only know about it. Just because of that alone, we weren't focused on other's opinion, we were happy with each other being ourselves in the process, we were always focused on each other's problems or success for the day without having misconceptions from anybody else's. In short, our relationship was simple, and we avoided things that would cause major problems initially. We broke up a long time ago, but we really did enjoy each other's company. To be honest, i kind of disagree. If you're in a relationship, its okay if you need help fixing yourself. As long as the relationship isn't JUST to fix yourself, its always good to get some help. Also, walls dont get put down just like that. Walls are things that stay up and can be put down by other people. If someone can put down your walls and help you feel better, then they're a good person to date.

Someone once told me that when a person wants to start a relationship with someone who is working on themselves and is honest about those issues - it's that person's decision to make. It's not wrong to let that connection happen out of fear your problems will hurt them, or they don't really know what they're getting into. You can let people make their own choices. ..I felt that was particularly wise advice.
I disagree about someone being able to take anothers wall down. You put the wall up, only you can take it down. Theres no perfect person who is going to come along and bring the walls down... once you get further into the relationship and start to see the imperfections of the person you'll end up hurting them.

Honestly I prefer no relationship at all. I don't want one. I have depression, anxiety disorder, and far more emotional and mental problems, too many to put my time and effort into someone else. I have so much trouble with relationships of any kind and just would like to learn to love friends and family without fear. Nothing more. I used to have fantasies about romance but now they're all dead, and I could care less.

Got out of a long term relationship about 7 years ago and have mainly stayed single and spent time figuring out myself and what I want from life. I feel like I have all right pieces in place to be awesome at a relationship. I'm loving, great listener, I respect boundaries, I have my own hobbies, friends and money, I get along with just about anyone, I genuinely care for people when they are in need, I am always trying to improve myself inside and out and am quick to say sorry when I mess up. Others sometimes dont even realise that I'm an introvert just because I'm so good at faking emotions and facial expressions.
Sometimes I feel like I'm not a human, how strange ahaha.
A guy and I like each other but a week in, he said he wasn't ready and I found out I wasn't ready as well. We both were still hurt from our past and needed more time, he still is by my side but we are both slowing it down as friends first. But I can feel the love in the air, hope one day, we both are ready
I have an social anxiety issue and I may be antisocial. Hate being around people and being touched. I have a very negative outlook in life and don't like exploring new things. I am a very introverted person who really wants to make it through life without people fucking bother me.
