Thank you for creating this YT channel, Alexandra. I haven't seen your channel in a while, probably because I haven't had an outbreak in a while---since 2018 or 2017. Ever since I heard you say you take a daily maintenance dose of L-Lysine. That was a game-changer for me. I started doing that, too. And I basically never get outbreaks anymore. If I do, it's because I indulged in too much arginine-rich foods, such as chocolate, nuts, etc. Before I just watched my diet to control my Lysine-Arginine ratio. And I would start dosing with lysine at the first tingle or sign of an outbreak; but sometimes that would be too little-too late to prevent an outbreak. Of course, living with oral herpes, we have to watch out for this amino acid imbalance. When we consume more arginine than lysine, we become susceptible to an outbreak. I had heard about Robin Williams having oral herpes. (R.I.P. Robin Williams.) After I found out such celebrities have it, too, I didn't feel so bad about having it myself. I've been prone to outbreaks since my preteen years. One interesting thing I noticed about Robin Williams was that he would tend to wear a beard occasionally, even before beards were trending like they are now---popularized by rock bands like My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, et al. I figured that was his way of concealing outbreaks. I started doing that, too---no shaving until outbreak is gone. Another interesting public figure with oral herpes is sports commentator Max Kellerman. In the past, I wouldn't even want to go to work, if I had an outbreak, because I felt so ashamed; and some people can be so cruel. And to see Max Kellerman on TV with a very visible outbreak was empowering. I've also noticed Kellerman seems to grow out a beard at the first signs of an outbreak. But the fact that he often has visible outbreaks tells me he hasn't seen your channel! If he did, we would probably see less images of him with outbreaks in public. Who knows? I'm just glad I found this channel. And I'm glad I haven't had an outbreak in years. I stay away from arginine-rich foods to keep my lysine higher than my arginine levels. I try to drink 1 to 1.5 gallons of water per day to stay alkaline and for (natural) bodybuilding purposes. By the way, I've been married for 14 years. And my wife doesn't have it, nor does my son or stepdaughter. I'm proud to say I've been responsible in being careful whenever I may be contagious. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Cheers.

@@sunnychauhan8699, I am not informed about outbreaks affecting the genital area. My outbreaks have been on my lips and/or around my mouth. Hopefully, Alexandra can let us know more about your particular condition. But I can tell you about living with oral herpes; perhaps, that may help you. I'm not sure. Whenever I get an outbreak of oral herpes, besides responding with nutrition (i.e., eating Lysine-rich foods and avoiding Arginine-rich foods), alkalizing my body pH with plenty of water (e.g., over a gallon a day), and supplementing with extra L-Lysine tablets, I make sure that nobody comes into contact with any of my open sores. I apply Carmex (or other such lip balms) to any cold sores to reduce cracking of the skin. And I always wash my hands with soap after touching or treating any cold sores. It's my understanding that oral herpes is most contagious when the sores are "shedding". Perhaps, the same is true for genital herpes. I'm not sure. When my son was a baby or a child, and he wanted to hug me or be close to me, I would just make sure not to allow an open sore to contact his skin. So, if I hugged him, I would turn my mouth with a sore away from him. Simply keeping open sores away from my son and wife has helped me avoid infecting them with the virus. However, as noted above, in recent years, I've been free of cold sores or oral herpes outbreaks. I attribute the lack of outbreaks to my daily maintenance dosage of 2,000 mg of L-Lysine, avoidance of arginine-rich foods, daily hydration (~1 to 1.5 gallons of water a day), regular exercise, and stress management. I simply kept studying and researching this topic as much as possible over the years. Hopefully, this has helped. Best wishes.

My boyfriend of two years knowingly had herpes for 18 years. And in the two years he failed to disclose this information to me. A few days ago I started noticing the symptoms and Just yesterday I went to the doctor and I was diagnosed with it. You also have to consider the fact that celebrities often have more partners than regular people so it's probably like 90%. Yes the 70-80% is actually a fact that you can look up. Almost everyone has the virus but only a certain percentage of the population gets outbreaks. It's almost impossible to avoid it and most people get it from activities like sharing drinks.
I got it when I was 15 in high school and some girl embarrassed me in class yelling I have herpes. I don’t know how I got it because I was not sexually active at that time. Fast forward to 2020 I found out my mom often gets cold sores so I’m guessing I got it genetically. Just really sad 😢 idk how I’m going to bring it up with guys in the future when I’m ready to start dating. Their is stigma that you are this promiscuous person if you have herpes but it’s not true. uhh if you're talking about cold sores, calm down. you're absolutely fine. I'm 26 and the last time I had a cold sore was high school. Most people will date someone who has cold sores. But whatever you do, Do Not give oral when you're having a flare up, or if you feel one coming on, and at least a week after its gone. (im sure you already know not to share drinks, kiss, etc, if you have a cold sore).

You're right, celebrities are normal people, just like us. And as such, I believe they have a right to privacy and it's not your story to share with others. In some cases, you were not even sure they had herpes or what kind, yet did not hesitate to mention their names. While it's unclear that any source of this information can even be trusted, I doubt anyone here would appreciate someone else disclosing their HSV status.

I got cold sores as a teenager before I was with anyone. I most likely got it from sharing a drink a football practice or from someone giving me a kiss. It spreads easy like any other virus.
I said the same thing last year but found out I have the antibodies for HSV 2 only a couple of months ago. Get this, I haven't been sexually active for several years. No outbreaks, no symptoms. I requested a STD and STI screening to show my partner before any sexual activity. My physician goes over my results, everything negative but my HSV 2 results. The physician tells me that I was exposed to HSV 2 sometime in my past smh

I had hsv1 like in 2019 from passing a joint, the next day I had a small blister on my lip, and few weeks after that I had a even smaller one barely visible and then 5 years later that was the only 2 outbreaks I had, it hasn't reappeared, so I don't understand much about it, show I even mention it in a relationship?

There currently in the first clinical trials of a potential herpes vaccine in the usa. Will find out by 2025 if it works.

If you have herpes, even if only one outbreaks, you still carry the virus, and can transmit.
