    Been married almost 24 years. Have taken acyclovir daily since before we were married, have never used condoms and have never passed it on. I disclosed having herpes before we had sex the first time. It's not the end of your life as you know it, in fact your partner is a better person since they are accepting of your condition without judging you. I have had a few minor OBs in those 24 years and we simply abstain from sex for a week, not a big deal.

      So you still have outbreaks even though you take the antivirals daily? Im starting a new relationship and I’m trying to ensure I do not give it to my partner so your comment has me hopefully

      I have taken 500 mg Vlaycyclovir a day for a couple years now, and haven't had an outbreak as long as I take it daily. I'm trying to find out If I should have my uninfected partner the valacyclovir too? Or as long as I take it daily, she should be good? Does your partner do anything else as prevention? My girlfriend knows I have it, doesn't want to use condoms but I want to protect her.

      It seems like you’re doing everything you can. From what I understand there wouldn’t be any advantages from your uninfected partner taking antivirals however.
      They won’t shield from a new infection, they only work when there is an infection present.

      Well a lot of people don't know that HSV is herpes and that cold sores are herpes. So inthier defense they don't know that its contagious and also sexually transmitted. Also, with the majority of the population having herpes a lot of times the message from the medical world is that you don't have to disclose because everyone has it.

    • @keishaj336
      @keishaj336 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my understanding HSV1 is oral herpes and HSV2 is genital so if you have it on your anus then that's considered HSV2. Genitals doesn't mean just the vagina or penis. It could be in your anus, thigh, leg, etc. So therefore, if you have HSV2 then no you cannot pass it to your husband by kissing because it's skin to skin contact. With that being said, if you have HSV1 which is oral herpes then there's a possibility that it can be passed on if you kiss him and have an outbreak on or around your mouth

    • @lifewithherpes
      @lifewithherpes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About that. But, HSV1 & HSV2 are just two types of herpes virus. They're usually described as oral (hsv1) and genital (hsv2), but in reality, they are interchangeable. Herpes is a virus that lives on a skin and it can appear anywhere on our skin, but most commonly, they appear on our lips and on our genitals. So, often hsv1 will be transmitted to someone's genitals if a person with a cold sore is performing oral sex on somebody. And the other way around.

      It would be helpful, for sure, but would it prevent you from actually getting it, if you'd come into contact with it? Not sure.
      I would definitely suggest you to educate yourself about it and talk to your partner what you want to do about it.
      Especially in the beginning partners often discuss antivirals, since this is the best thing to do to protect your partner, so many people do that at least for a while.
      I'd also suggest you to get tested to see where you stand. Many people are asymptomatic and never learn about their diagnosis, unless they get tested.

    I was diagnosed with HSV-1, as I had no outbreaks or symptoms yet, so I don't know if I have genitial or oral HSV-1. I will be soon with my partner and I don't want to transmit virus to her. My(most) doctors declined to prescribe antivirals to me, I even requested to give some suppressive dose, but nope as I don't have any symptoms. So any suggestions how can maximum suppress the transmission now?

    • @lifewithherpes
      @lifewithherpes  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1.I believe Herpalert can help you if you want to get antivirals. You can contact them here and if you use lifewithherpes code, you will get 10%.
      www.lifewithherpes.com/diagnosis
      2. A strong immune system is the best way to not transmit. A good immune system will prevent viruses to come out, to become active, and as long as the virus is kept dormant, you will not transmit. You can do that with a healthy life style: exercise, sleep, meditation, diet, and whatever fits you. There's no secret formula to the one we already know about healthy life style. But, you can supplement your diet with vit c, vit d, zinc, monolaurin and lysine. Lysine is specific to herpes virus - it helps keep it dormant, and monolaurin helps the immune support to fight the virus by breaking the shell of enveloped viruses, which herpes is.
      We really like these supplements. Hope that helps in any way.

      No, it doesn't live in breast milk or other bodily fluids. Unless you have it on your breasts, you can easily breastfeed. Good luck!

    Hi! Question: if I have Oral herpes already. And then I somehow gave it to my partner. Could he then give me genital herpes back to? Basically, I’m wondering if I can have both oral herpes and General herpes that come from the same virus HSV1? Since I have HSV1 can I give my partner both oral and genital herpes? If he gets it from me can he then give me herpes back on my genitalia if I already have it on my mouth?

    • @lifewithherpes
      @lifewithherpes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have antibodies (which you do if you tested positive), then you cannnot reinfect yourself. Your body will recognize the virus and fight it off.
      Technically though, you can have herpes on more than one place and that is if you come into contact with the virus at the time when your body has not yet been able to produce enough antibodies.
      Hope that's clear

      @@lifewithherpes So if you already have hsv-1 and you have enough antibodies you can not get it somewhere else through oral sex by a partner?And you can only infect yourself if you don’t have enough antibodies? Did I get it right?
      I have had hsv-1 since childhood. Is it safe to think that I have already enough antibodies? I am in my early 20s.
      Edit: can antibodies decrease over time?
