- Last April I set a goal of running a marathon in 2 hours and 50 minutes. I ended up missing my goal and it caused me to re-evaluate my reason for running. 7 months later, I'm in a new headspace and I'm excited to try again.
This series will document my training to run a 2:50 marathon on February 8th in the Mesa marathon.
Thank you so much for watching!

I feel like its almost more motivating and inspiring the fact that you didn’t reach your goal the first time, yet now you’ve grown and you’re trying again. Keep on the grind Nico, we’re with you every step of the way 💪
“Sometimes, you gotta take action before your mind is ready” - facts 💯 Let’s get after it!
First like! Love your work! You inspired me to run my first marathon! Was hoping to go sub 3, ended up running a 3:03:09 as a senior in HS!
I love this because I DNFed my first 50 mile ultra (the 105 degrees at 6000ft nearly did me in) over a year ago and then my dad died, so i took a huge step back from running and setting goals. I felt lost in doubt, fears and failure.
Hearing you talk about it the failure and attempting again is great fuel, as I am about 4 weeks into my new 50 mile prep. I don't have a time goal, just wanna finish. This is great to hear others have that same thought process and fears.❤
But we got this! Let's go!
I love the long formats of your videos. They are my go to when I run. I’m so looking forward to your new training vlog 😊🇨🇦
12:27 Thank you Sofie for getting this amazing content!
Hope you know that even though you didn't make your goal, you inspired me as a 13 yr kid to do my first half marathon with my time being 1:44.
the cinematography of this was insane! Just finished my first ever marathon today in 4:27 :) 2:50 is so fast I cannot comprehend it! but your dedication is so inspiring!
Hey Nico, I appreciate your videos a lot. There's something about them - the music, tone, coloring, the things you say - that just make them so inspiring. If that's what you're going for then I think you're doing great. I always feel better after I watch them :)
That means a lot to me, thanks so much!
Great information for a new 53 year old runner like me! Looking forward to your new journey for a 2:50 marathon! I really appreciate not hearing cuss words or talk of alcohol. So far I’ve watched about 10 of your videos and just started following you about 2 days ago. I also want to say “thank you” to Sophie ( the GOAT) for filming. Great job, Sophie. Also, looking forward to your progress and enjoyment of running!!
Dude your video quality is just top tier. I am constantly in awe. And I love the new fresh mindset.
Thank you so much!
Man, Sofie is really the goat, she helps you a lot willingly with those professional like cinematic shots. When I first watched one of your content, I thought you hired some professional videographer, editor or something but it was just the two of you who made these videos that gave motivation and inspiration to a lot of people across the globe and I am one of those people. I'm not consistent with running before but with these videos, it kept me going. 💪🏼 Kudos 🔥 -from Philippines
really enjoyed this long format, always quality and inspirational content!
I’m running a half marathon tomorrow and you’re 2:50 video inspired me because I’ve missed my PR 5 times already. I put in the work and am going to try my best to PR tomorrow. Thank you for all your inspiration and motivation.
you are my biggest inspiration nico. i have grown so much as a runner and as a person, working to being more dedicated and healthier in college. YOU GOT THIS!!🙌🏽🙌🏽
Dude the production quality just keeps getting better and better. Keep crushing 🔥
That quote… sometimes you gotta take action before you mind is ready… is a BAR! I am going to tell myself that for my first mile of every run
Love the introspection in the intro. I ran Tahoe 200 this year, and missed my time goal by about 15 hours. I didn't know it during the race, but I was suffering from a bloodclot in my leg, which made finishing the race at all extremely difficult. I was so disappointed to have put that much into training for the event, only to have a lackluster performance because of an extraneous issue I couldn't have accounted for. I'm healthy now and back to running, and I realize now that missing the goal means my hunger to do that event faster hasn't been satisfied, and I still have the fire in me to go for it again. Sometimes missing a goal just stokes the flame hotter than ever to get an even better prep in. God bless man, keep up the great work! You're gonna smash a sub 2:50 👏
Me and my friend Hayden (both of us are huge fans!) are running our first marathon ever, Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon. Goal of 2:55. We'll both be 18 and trying to qualify for Boston '26. This is a huge goal for both of us, but me for sure. Watching your videos and seeing your runs on strava have motivated me more then you'll ever know. Seeing an influincer that shows both the good and bad of their life and hobbies is so refreshing, and I can't thank you enough for the channel and content. With much love and admiration - Jude S.
Please do more of these longer videos, really loved it. Also would be nice with a video on how your implementing a more consistent diet! 🙏
always striving to be better-always motivating. look forward to these vids 👏🏼
Love the video as always! Was getting ready to ask how The GOAT’s (Sophie’s) running was coming along so glad you shared an update there too. Pumped for this new series. Come on 2:50!
Awesome video. Always remember that we are a role model to someone, so everything we do matters. If we quit they quit. When we win they win.
can definitely feel your love for the sport and super cool to see a running influencer who isn't banging out 3 hour marathons like a machine. Running is a process and we do it for fun and to feel good, not just the miles and paces. Your break from workouts and a training block is making me feel more okay with just getting out for ez runs before my next build.
I recently got back into couple months ago running and stumbled across you're channel. You maybe didn't reach the sub 2:50 but whats an even bigger achievement is that you inspire others out there to get into running. Don't get to hard on yourself, you got this! Sub 2:50 soon--->
I don’t know if this message will reach you, brother, bur huge kudos for your work! I train as a trail runner after so many years of climbing and hiking in different parts of the globe.
A little advice, prior to your workout routine, and everything you do, try to do many, but many stretching classes. That will allow your muscles and joints to “expand” even more for those limits that you push and chase, my brother. Maybe you do that, and that’s amazing, but maybe you don’t, so please give it a try. 2,3 times a week will allow you to go for that 2 fifty goal. And, also, a good profi massage from time to time.
Blessings from Transylvania, Romania.
I began my running journey this year and always find your videos inspiring. I wish I had started running sooner! I've recently started participating in fun runs in the Philippines, and my first race is coming up next week. Thank you for the motivational boost I get every time I watch your videos. Always excited to watch your new uploads, Nico!
Inspiring brotha! Can’t wait to see you blow past your goals in the future. You’ll get it. Awesome video.
Amazing video, great job Nico❤🎉
Still watching the video but just had to comment to say how inspiring you are. Also love the cinematography in your videos! Even the little things like capturing the ants on video. Keep up the great work!
I started my running journey earlier this year and I'm just trying to keep it up through our cold winters and little daylight.
True lead, true motivation and a lot of knowledge and experience packed in one video! You are giving so much to the running community with your positive spirit. A big thank you Nico! Keep going :)
Ur videos have inspired me in many ways anyhow was able to hit my goal in Chicago for a sub 2:50 , end up doing 2:48 finish strong - the goal is now to do the same in Boston come April also go for another PB in Berlin
Keep doing what ur doing ur on the right path
Age 44 😎
This might be my first time commenting on anything… ever. Nico. You’re not just and inspiration on your running for me but inspirational with how much you have grown and matured in the last few years. You’re a legend. Keep it up. Love from Minnesota.
Thank you so much that means a lot to me!
So so inspiring! Looking forward to watching this series!!! Big fan from the UK!
Hey nico, please keep showing the details from your workouts! Very interesting to see and so we can learn from you. Love from Switzerland
Great video bro! Looking forward to seeing you hit sub 2:50. Props to Sofie for putting in the miles and awesome camera work
Enjoyed the long video style! Good luck on the marathon!!!
These videos are always so incredible to watch, having been here for them all, the progression is insane! 🔥You’ve taught me so much and I’m racing my first half marathon on Feb 8th. Can’t wait to follow along with this one too, or thank you enough for what you've done for my life 😊👏
This is so exciting! We’re rooting for you all the way, Nico!!!
Good luck dude! And most of all I hope that you enjoy this new journey! Vamos! 🔥
keep making videos nico, love you bro thank you for everything you do
24:45 Both wrong. Spread, Keep Halved, Eat two sides separately. Not a sandwich. Not bite for bite.
You got this Nico 💪 🙌 Achieving running goals are 60% mental. I’ve been bummed this past week after learning a close family friend was hit by a car running around her block in Tucson last Tuesday. She is still in a coma with head trauma, broken ribs, pelvis injury, and a collapsed lung. 🙏🙏 Please please please be careful if you are a runner and your routes involve being around vehicles 😢 Do NOT assume the driver sees you or cares to slow down! 🤬
I Absolutely Would Love To See More Motivational Videos From You Please Nico??? Because I Recently Got Very Sick With Pancreatitis And I Was In The Hospital For A Very Long Time But I Am Doing Much Better Now For Sure And I Absolutely See It All As A Wake Up Call For Me To Lose Weight And To Get Fit And Lean Again For Sure Nico!!! And Also Much Love To All Of Y’all From Houston Texas Too Nico!!!
Epic vid bro! Stoked to watch you go sub 2:50 💪🏼
You are an inspiration Nico ❤️❤️🫂🫂
Dreamers Keep Trying!!! Tapping in from South Africa
Appreciate you!
I feel like we are very similar fitness level so I love watching your videos because I can do what you do and relate to it!
Well said! I absolutely agree. 1 kudos = 10 or even worth 100 IG likes. Such great insights again and epic editing! 🔥
Missed my 3:07 at Indy by 2 minutes today. Probably could have ran at 3:08 if I didn't stop in the porta potty at Mile 21 to pee, but it was a 14 minute PR from 2016. I'm finally back after 5 serious effort and terrible pwrformance marathons, and I'm ready to tackle sub 3 next year.
Good luck bro. I’m stationed in Yuma, AZ. Just now got into running. I used to dread my 3 mile PFT’s and barely made 25-26 min times. I’m currently training for a half a marathon so I can conquer that adversity I have, and will therefore run a better 3 mile. Maybe I’ll see you in Mesa
Thank you Sophie! And Nico, it's way easier to go after a goal the 2nd time.. you have so much more knowledge and data to help you succeed this time! This is gonna be fun. And Sophie eats the bagel the correct way.
Amazing Nico love that motivation bro keep grinding you will do it!!!💪🏼
Your time is just a number on the clock good luck on your prep love your videos Nico💪🔥
I just ran the Indianapolis marathon in 5:00:54. First marathon. You’re fast! Love your videos.
Your gonna do great, beleive in yourself❤
This is all what we've been waiting for...another series! I hope in the future you get to record your journey participating a marathon in an international setting with the likes of Berlin, London, Tokyo or Sydney!
Love your videos! You're an inspiration! Nick Bare is a beast and such a good person! Im glad you're a part of the team and good luck with changing your diet. Probably going to harder than all the runs 😅
The videos are getting SO so good Nico
Keep going Nico.I love your videos and they are very inspiring
Love your vids bro! Can’t wait to see more vids on your prep for this marathon!!
Thanks for the support!!
Lets go!! Running my first marathon this year in April!! Starting prep today. 13 weeks out🫡
Cool stuff man!! All the best
Can’t wait to follow along this new training block 🤩 and I’m getting inspired to set a scarier goal for my next marathon and training plan 💪🏻
Even being a long video it’s absolutely fine! Don’t worry about that because we’ll finish it anyway 🤍. I’m also doing my prep to February here in Chile 🇨🇱, and well for the entire 2025. Thanks for the motivation! Loves from Chile, and yes, you’ve been reaching this places! Haha, amazing video! ❤
“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
All the best to you Nico 👏🏻
Nico never fails to deliver an awesome video. Truly an inspiration!
I appreciate that!! Thank u!
You are so inspirational… legend!!!
I love you videos Niko! Your going to kill this race!
Great video! You're such an inspiration! So underrated!!
Amazing motivation! Great job 🏃Keep it up! You got this!!
you are really the goat Nico, keep up the good videos.
When the turns have tabled and you were riding the bike and Sofie was running I laughed so hard that's so cute🤣
Love running the local marathon near me super nice to be done and know exactly what you want to eat after.
You have a lot of shoulder movement while you run. Try to keep you hands from crossing the mid line of your torso if you can.
To help, try running with your palms facing more upwards. For example, your right palm should be facing 10 o'clock, and left palm facing 2 o'clock. This will keep your elbows in and have less side ways motion of your elbows
Well done love it!
Great vid brother! Keep on going💪
Thank u!
Thanks Sofie, you the man
Fellow GCU alumni here and experienced runner trying to help; you have the aerobic capacity for your marathon goal, if you work on your form I bet you'd be closer to 2:45. Running economy is super important for the endurance at the longer distances.
What are some recommendations you have?
@ I think it’d be worth your time to go to one of the Physical Therapist running analysis, I haven’t lived in Phoenix for the past several years so I can’t really give any good recommendations for the area. Up here in Washington a lot of Brooks or other running stores have some kind of team you can talk to. The two things I can see from your videos are your arms and foot strike. The more tired you get, your arms sway from side to side instead of front to back and your legs are following the direction of your arms. Hope you reach your goal!
Great video can’t wait to watch this build
I love the videos u make... it is lit 🔥 and it motivates me to run love u Nico ur the best
Best running youtuber 🔥 🔥
ready to watch you crush this prep!
Love your videos!!!! This is awesome about running since I am about to be an ex college athlete!
You could run the Boston Marathon! Boston is a great season it is perfect temperature, a little chilly. But it would be cool to watch you run what i really want to run and see you possibly accomplish a new goal of yours. Keep up the good work, I love watching your videos as a runner!
This is what I’ve wanted ! I want to show all of your running shoes! I always try Alphafly for my race day.
But I also like New Balance , cheap price or not they are always good.
I love your videos hope you reach your goal.
I ran the Mesa Marathon about 10 years ago and you should know the first 8ish miles are downhill. The race starts at McDowell Mountain and drops about 800 feet in the first 8ish miles. So you don't blow out your quads, make sure you do some downhill work. You seem pretty dialed in on your easy runs, keep it up and you will crush your goal.
Ya super good advice. Mesa is super fast but I blew out my quads in those 8 miles.
Let’s goooo new marathon series 👏
Hi Nico, quick little intro - My name is Henry, I run cross country and am a huge fan of you and your content. I have followed your content for almost 2 years now, and man… you continue to amaze me. You are the one person who I consistently watch on TH-cam. I have never commented because I never knew if you would respond, but I just want to say how big of a role model you are to me. You stand for so much and the amount of persistence you have is unbelievably admirable. I truly love your content and maybe someday I will even be able to race along side you!
Anyways enough of my headstrong passion for you and your content. Again, I have wanted to ask this for a few months, I just have never had the confidence to go out and ask. But, I’m curious to what editor software you use? The first thing that drew me to your videos was your cinematic portrayal of everything and as you continue to do so my curiosity continues to peak. Would love if you shed some light on the editor you use and a little about what you love about editing! Truly a pleasure to watch you grow and learn.
Thanks so much for the support I really appreciate you! I use Final Cut Pro to edit all my TH-cam videos!
@@nico.felich Thanks for the quick response Nico! I can't wait to follow you on this journey and all the journeys of your's to come! Thanks for being so true to heart.
HE’S BACK, BABY!
Sophie’s way of eating a bagel is the best way to consume it! You just savor every single bite that way 😊 btw those mid run #2s are the absolute worst 😅
Signed up for Mesa full as well. Will be coming from Michigan! Looking forward to running with you (although not as fast) gonna try and go 3:15-3:17
Great videos as always
Thank u!
Nico is back let's go 🔥
Another great video. Outstanding cinematography. Sub 2:50 lets go!
I hope I get to run into you at Mesa marathon! It’ll be my first marathon. Good luck!
9:02 kudos to Sophia cause this is FINE camerawork on a bike not to mention 😮😮
I love your videos so much but one thing you could work on when you run is your arms. Like not swinging them across your body as muchbor in a circular motion because that is less efficient and you lose energy you might need after mile 22. I would use weights and do big arm swings for reps of 30 seconds like once a day. Your doing Hella a job and keep it up
Yes it’s a pet peeve when I watch 😂 still a huge fan! Go nico!!
