- Carpuride, sent me free of charge, their Apple CarPlay/Android Auto 7 inch Touchscreen display unit, the W702. The unit can be used on any motorcycle and allows the rider, via their mobile phone ,to listen to music/podcasts, make and receive phone calls/messages and finally to navigate a route via Apple/Google Maps. Other CarPlay compatible apps can be downloaded for use.
NB: YOU WILL NEED A MINIMUM 2 AMP SUPPLY IF USING THE USB POWER CABLE .
(THE SCREEN MAY NOT POWER UP OTHERWISE)
I fitted it to my BMW R1250GS and Triumph Speed Twin 1200.
I will be testing the unit further over the weeks/months.

Great info i just ordered the 5” to replace my Zumo XT.
Just fitted a Carpuride unit to my bike to replace my old Garmin and initial impressions are very good. I have the smaller 5.5” screen as it fits better on my bike and the quality of the screen is equally good. Much cheaper than replacing my current Zumo and I would say it is far more adaptable and usable. As you showed all voice commands via ‘Siri’ on my iPhone all work fine so very little need to touch the screen. Very interesting to see your table re data usage of various apps etc. Waze is clearly preferable over Google maps if you’re worried about data usage.
Thanks for the post. The data table was something I found on the net just for a baseline for others to get a rough idea of data use. I still have the 5" to test yet.
Just ordered one from your link looks good .its got to be better than the bmw contented app with their phone holder .i prefer to use Waze or Calimoto anyway ,great video as always 👍🏍️🎉

I purchased one of these last week. Yes you can rearrange the icons to suit yourself. Thats done from your phone in the "carplay" settings.

@@Phoenix_1972 hi. If the app is available for CarPlay, then you should be able to if it’s just an app for your phone, then no :-)
@@Phoenix_1972 No. Any app, no matter whether CarPlay or Android Auto, must be compatible with the framework > CP or AA. Otherwise it can't be dragged into this system, which is basically just a sort of sophisticated display of CP/AA compatible apps. If the app you want isn't compatible, then it won't show up in the Phone&Carpuride interface, so you can't get it up on the screen and run it. You will only have it on your phone. I tried this for AndroidAuto: Macna is not there. Practically, though, I can't think of any reason why it would launch from this display - it's pointless to be controlling apps instead of driving a motorcycle. But I think the same about Spotify, which is here. I launch it on my phone beforehand, get in and go - but while driving? No. Then I don't mind not being able to run it in that user interface. Also, you have to see that the paired phone has to run in full mode, consumes data, and draws Bluetooth connectivity, so you can't talk about some kind of power saving mode. So beware of draining my phone with useless stuff if it doesn't work for some essential need then. Or recharge the phone while driving, or carry a powerbank :-).
To rearrange the icons you do that on your phone in settings, then CarPlay. If you move the order of the apps they will rearrange on the carpuride

Would like to see if that fits on the K1600 as the nav on that is my biggest bugbear….

hi. DJI Action 4 with their recently released adapter that plugs into the usb c of the camera and then I simply plug my lav mic into that. once plugged in the DJI Mic menu then gives you a gain option, which you just need to play around with depending on helmet/mic location etc.

Hi Tony. I downloaded a weather radar app and another navigation app from the App Store and it will tell you if the app you want is carplyable, if it is then it automatically moves across to the screen as a new icon.

Good question!
This piece of hardware shouldn't have a problem with that (there is no moving/floating mechanical part), unlike photo systems and their stabilization systems in phones. It's more a matter of quality mounting and attachment adapters to keep your Carpuride unit from falling into mud, rivers, etc while you're driving.

Go to their website and then "Carpuride Accessories". There you will find the "Carpuride Motorcycle Series Product Bracket, Custom-designed for BMW Motorcycles". Sorry, tried to add the URL but looks like it cannot be added here. Ordered mine on the 6th. Will report back after I receive/install it.

Awesome video! Lots of benefits. Especially the price and you like the quality. Apple has said not to use your iPhone for navigation on a motorcycle. Vibration, overheating , weather protection etc. And as you said theft protection. I will be following the videos on how it performs. I hope it does well. Best!

Thanks for this in debt review. I have the Zumo XT and bought it because of the roundtrip option. But from the beginning I was a bit disappointed about the chosen roads. Even in the most "adventures". mode, it still selects 100 km/h roads. Not many but it does. And I don't won't that. I like the small 80km/h max roads through small towns. So, the last year I mounted an older IPhone and used Calimoto which makes beautiful trips on twisty roads. Even roundtrips. But a phone is not ideal. On a sunny day you can hardly see the screen and not usable with gloves. In my car I use apple car play and saw that Calimoto is there to use. So I thought, how can I get that on my motorbike? Google helped me to find this product and after looking at some reviews I bought it from the website. I bought the 7 inch version. After looking at your review I knew I bought a great device. Thanks again for all this time and effort you put into your video.
Love the review. I use a quadlock on my nav bar, could the Carpuride Ball socket plate be removed & replaced by a quadlock plate?
The ball and socket plate forms part of the waterproofing for the back of the unit. There is a heat sink on the rear of the plate.

First of all great video 👏🏻 main question is does it get as bright as the zumo on direct sunlight?
I am going to keep it on the bike and will do an update in the future . Screen contrast is not as good as the zumo but not an issue at the moment . Haven't used it in full sun as the weather has been bad!!
Great review, are you able to remove this at a cafe stop or overnight stop easily so that no-one steals it?
Yes . Just undo the ball and socket clamp and remove . Will be doing a long term trial with the unit finding out both and and not so good things with it . Saying goodbye to my Zumo XT for the time being .👍
Is it equipped with a light detection sensor? Some models require you to manually dim the brightness at night.

Haven't tried that one, I will have a play with the Cardos and find out.
Yes, you can. I listen to Tunein while using the Apple maps. The music cuts out every time directions are announced.

FYI My unit arrived yesterday and Carpuride have updated the firmware & manual meaning the nice Bluetooth setup you have no longer works. It's a deal breaker for me as I can't use the Cardo app. I've messaged Carpuride but not heard back. Unless there's a firmware update/fix I'll most likely be sending it back. Thought I'd mention it as your video is no longer relevant from a setup perspective. This was the reason I stopped using the BMW Connected app. 😢

👍 am gong to fit it permanently on the bmw and do a long term test. iwas out on the bike today and am very impressed with the CarPlay functionality, as have not used CarPlay before.
I have chigee (TPMs camera BSD £400 cover screen protector mount) Greenyi on my R9t (£180TPMs cameras) and camecho CarPlay £120 only. Packaging is good with all as Is the screen. Caemcho was easier to mount as it has a ram bolt and usb powered option (no camera to power up) chigee limited mounting and Greenyi I added ram bolt. Finish is great with chigee apples like but u pay for what u get. All work with CarPlay well
I have both units. Simple: the Chigee AIO is a class above, but also a bit more expensive. So the price/performance issue is more in favor of Carpuride, unless the buyer needs the functionality of 100% connectivity in a BMW motorcycle with Wonder Wheel, this add-on module ChiGee has, then it is unbeatable. For the unbeatable price of the kit :-)
In my opinion, in this area and now as follows, in descending order: ChiGee, Carpuride, GreenYi, AutoABC.
@@hewlett62 I was not able to route the phone communication through the bike. Without the Carpuride, I have phone and headset connected to the bike. Everything works fine. Now I have phone connected to Carpuride and the bike, and it does not work with my headset. I am not talking about wonder wheel functionality, that I can live without. But even the basic voice communication is not working through the bike. Any solutions ?

No. This is currently only available from Chigee's, using the additional module "CGRC Remote Control CAN for BMW", at an extra cost to the already quite expensive ChiGee. But Chigee is the current top of the line among these CP/AA units.
No. however, in europe there is also the Carpe Iter BMW Control hub. you can get it as solo adapter for the BMW wheel or with additional buttons on the right handlebar. it links up to your phone if that's in a cradle or if you prefer to have a dedicated android device, the Carpe Iter pad
Does it have a screen sensitivity adjustment? I can't find any - and I am not able to do any touchscreen with my winter riding gloves. Summer gloves (fingertip less) obviously is no problem.

Have you had any issues with the screen not being bright enough / the glare stopping you seeing navigation while riding ?
I ask because I’m speaking with them at the moment because I can’t make mine out while riding in the day and brightness at 100% and Scotlands not the most sunny of country’s haha

They told me the protective film that I removed like any other product with a screen is for anti glare and I see you also removed it ?
I’m curious if you ran into any problems because I’d really like to swap mine over permanently from the XT 2
Carpuride support have been really nice sent a new anti glare film to put on it and see if it helps when it arrives.
I’ve seen your other video riding in the rain and mine doesn’t look even 10% as bright as that so I do think something is up.
Hi . Not sure what what they mean about anti glare screen !! It’s just for screen protection in the box ? No issues with brightness at all . A friend has the 7 inch on his Tenere and we bike swapped away on a mini tour last week to Normandy , did the landing beaches and it was brilliant . I don’t believe it has a sensor for auto brightness ? Does your manual brightness slider work/nothing changes or is it stuck? Hope u get it sorted 👍
@@gsd32iI appreciate you replying ) That’s exactly what I replied back with saying it’s surely just a screen protector but they are adamant it’s for glare and are sending a new one to test.
I still have the one I took off so will be interesting to see if there’s any difference.
The manual brightness slider moves but it changes a very small amount from low to high setting.
One other person on a Carpuride Facebook group had the same issue as me and did a swap via Amazon and now is extremely happy.
I’m sure they will sort it out even if it means swapping the unit.
For the price they are a great bit of kit :)
Am I correct in saying that if you are out of range of cellular service this will not work for navigation like a dedicated GPS like the Zumo would?
Yes but then you have offline maps.
Yes, you´re right. This unit does not have its own GPS chipset, it takes/maps everything it needs from the phone. Well, if the phone doesn't have the GPS signal /GSM/4-5G network of the carrier for whatever reason, neither does this display. but you can use off-line maps if you've downloaded them in advance.
Just got it. I have the Garmin XT and I too, am thinking about replacing it with this. There are a few glitches but you may have solved some in your video. The only thing I could not get it to do was enlarge my map screen and make it smaller ie Gaia or ON X maps. Did you have to reconnect your system after you turned off your bike, like at a gas station, We were having problems like this?

Great video, I have to admit though I wonder how the unit would stand up to the weather all year round. My bike's under cover at home, but I commute every day and the bike's outside in all weathers every day I'm at work.
I would take it off and pop it in a ruck sack or big pocket!
My 5in Carpuride pops out of the mount quick and easy.

Have been using the 7inch carpuride for a couple of months now and very pleased with it.
What do you do in relation to connecting it to the bike tft screen ?
I have my phone connected to the tft and the carpuride but when someone calls me I can’t hear them or vise versa.
Your video shows how to link the carpuride to your phone and helmet - but not the bike ?
The only way I have found to receive phone calls is to disconnect the Bluetooth from the bike.

Hi Kevin. I have tried several ways to connect these devices in order that I could get functionality with the whizz wheel....alas none has proved reliable. So its simply, headset to the phone and phone to the carpuride. What I would do in any instance, is delete your bluetooth pairings on the bmw tft and your phone and helmet and carpuride(factory reset) and start over again as a new , fresh install, but leave the bikes tft out of the loop.

Aren't the hole spacings of the RAM mount ball the same as the Zumo mount? Because then it should be easy to screw the device to the bracket above the dashboard
I took the units ball off and the whole waterproof plate comes off with the ball exposing the inner electric workings of the device. I have asked carpuride to come up with a bracket that does away with the ball on the back. so a new rear plate will be needed which with enough depth to it means you could screw into to secure it to the bar. hopefully they'll look at that soon.
@@gsd32i I see. At 6:09 it actually looks as if the housing is screwed all the way around. But you could of course quickly create an adapter plate that corresponds to the one on the ball in the required thickness on the 3D printer. If I hadn't bought the expensive Touratech mount for the Zumo first, because the Carplay solution actually appeals to me much more than the unreliable BMW Connect app and the bitchy Garmin device. The Africa Twin has a clear advantage here
@@christiantoth7959 early days for me but I really like the CarPlay thing and the fact that my navigation voice doesn't stop the music like it does on my zumo. never been able to work that one out to get voice layover after several years of trying. just need the gps bar mount next👍

Just purchased some ram mounts / bracket to mount to the accessory bar above the tft . It will be a long term test as I am pretty pleased with it . Time will tell 🤞🤞

The xt2 does the voice directions over the music and has a great bright screen and as far as my very limited knowledge is aware does pretty much the same, all be it a bit more expensive?

Thanks for the reply, so it’s no good if you are have to use on roaming data as I have to when away from where I live, looks all very nice and big, but it’s not all what it appears, I’ve got the Garmin xt2 and can use on my upcoming trip to France without using any data
Depends on the app you use. I have tried both Scenic and My Route App and both can download the entire map for use offline. @@tonkie1131
I have the Innov k2 install on my GSA but when i install the Carpuride, the INNOVV lost conection.
Do you find a solution to have the two conect.
Hi Joao . I have the Vantrue camera system on my GS and that works with no problem . I would say you have a power issue to the K2 possibly a wire has come away from a terminal . The carpuride unit will not cause a problem .
Hi, good review which led me to buy one for my 1300GS but the unit does obscure the top of the TFT so thought about maybe swapping it for the W502 but then wondered if that’d be too small with big gloves on. Have you tried the smaller unit??

Hi Paul, thanks be good to get your opinion. Also, what software version is your W702 on? Carpuride sent me an update but the “Cust version” on the unit has gone from V1.18 to V1.17 and nothing else changed??
@@simonjones1204 mine is the 17 version but they told me there was an updated version . Couldn’t get the sd card to be read in the unit so had to order a 16gb card from Amazon !! Away working so will try update and see what happens 🤞
Just installed 5" version on my GS, looks better in my opinion - I'll report back on functionality later, only slight grumble is the amount of protrusion from the cradle bracket, but to be fair your going to get some at least with adapters - also they could better supplying a back cover to hold and hide the connecting power cable, otherwise it looks and feels excellent 👌
@@cyclingbikerwholovestotinker I’ve tucked the power cable into back of their BMW bracket and it looks nice and neat. Interested to see how you get on as I was worried about my gloves being too big for the screen with my sausage fingers 😂
Is it just mirroring what is on your phone? If using a mobile phone navigation app, what happens if the phone nav app looses signal? I presume the Carpuride navigation ceases until the phone app recovers the nav signal.

Thanks . I have their 5 inch which I have yet to install and try as I have been way too busy at work . The 7 inch is extremely easy to read and on a recent trip to the Normandy landing beaches we did a bit of bike swapping and my friend has the 7 inch on his Yamaha Tenere and it was very nice to view as it was on my GS . It is a big screen and I guess it’s what you like function or style/look on the bike . Certainly easy to press the buttons . I did a rain test with the 7 inch mounted to the nav bar above my BMW’s TFT . Have a look at that one ref the size .good thing is u can turn the screen off if you don’t want the screen in your face, but it’s still operating .
I get that and have watched your other review in the rain. I just wonder, as the unit isn’t designed to remove, would the larger unit attract more unwanted attention, if parked on the street?

Decision made, I’m going to go with the W502B / 5” screen as it’s almost the same size as the iPhone 14pro that I’ve been using in the BMW cradle up to now. I think the larger screen while bigger may just look too much like a tablet and attract that unwelcome attention… fingers crossed 😅

Quick question - does it matter in which order the unit and intercom are paired to the phone? The reason I ask is that until recently I owned a 2020 Goldwing which, as I’m sure you know, has Apple CarPlay. If I didn’t connect things in the correct order, CarPlay wouldn’t work at all. Thanks.
Hi Chris. I have just got back home, from work. Popped into the man cave and did my thing with the W702 just to find out for you. I have my iphone connected to my headset via bluetooth. New Cardo backtalk edge , but I then did it straight after with my older Sena 10s(worked fine)to make sure it all connected ok. Once the phone and headset were paired I then connected the phone to the W702 via bluetooth and then after several seconds I then connected the wifi of the phone to the W702. My headset is NOT connected to the w702 and all works great. Siri works great , sending what's app messages. Very impressed with the unit. I have been cheeky and asked Carpuride to send me the 5" for side by side comparison as some may not like the 7"screen I like it and obviously you can switch the screen to off(dark screen) if you don't want to see the screen for distractions but music/audio is still doing its thing behind the dark screen and then you can simply touch the screen anywhere to get the screen active again. Hope that all makes sense. Longer term test is underway to find all positive and negative points, longevity etc . Ride safe 👍

The supply that is needed is 5volts and 2.5 amps...I have checked the 750GS manual and it looks like the usb is 2.4...so possibly not.

@@gsd32i That's right. This isn't any kind of issue where voiding the warranty would be concerned, unless you short the plus to minus when connecting it and burn out some of the electronics on the bike. You can replace the fuse easily. Rather, there may be a minor issue on bikes with CanBus (BMW, Ducati) where that bus may not adapt to the new system and reject it. But I haven't encountered such a problem with the nav power supply, the trouble is with high current draws (Denali LED, horn, etc). Here it's perfectly OK, I've tried both ChiGee and Carpuride on my Ducati V4 PikesPeak, no problems.
I noticed that Chigee aio-5 has a lot people talking about it, do you have any plans to review it?
Hello. Yes I see that it seems to be the hottest thing on the block at the moment BUT at over £400 I won't be getting one. I already have the VanTrue F1 front and rear cameras, my BMW R1250GS has TPMS and the Carpuride is way cheaper. PLUS I have 2 motorcycles and the AIO-5 is a permanent fit to the bike....So for me it's not a unit that I would invest in.....at the moment. I am doing a longer term test with the Carpuride W702 and I have the smaller W502 being sent to me also for testing.

15:42 - This setup does not work on my HJC 10B Sena Headet. The audio works if I start it on my phone but any audio initiated from the carpuride via carplay does not work at all. The entire goal her was for me to put my phone away and not have to interact with it. If I have to use my phone then I can just trash this and mount my phone on bike.
If I connect my Sena to the Carpuride, like the instructions suggest, the audio is garbage, cuts in and out and then there is a crackling sounds in my ears, its awful.
So far their support has ignored my emails, shame I bought this on a deal during winter months and didn't truely test it on my motorcycle until recently and nothing but issues with audio.
Any ideas why it is like this?
Hi Chris. I would check to see what software version you have, as another viewer had issues until they upgraded. I would delete all previous connections from the Carpuride or do a factory reset and do the same with your headset and start again with the pairing. I am still doing a long term kind of test with the Carpuride w702 and generally I am really happy with it. There has been the odd occasion when I had no music etc coming out of the headset and it comes out of the phone speaker, BUT on my Cardo headset unit I simply press the button for the next track and everything connects as it should and great quality sound comes out of the headset speakers. 🤞Please let me know if you resolve or otherwise. Sometimes all things electronics can be such a pain in the @$ss!! Ride safe.
I’ve just got my W702 and when on CarPlay (as with every other CarPlay connection) the audio switches over to the Carpuride so I have to pair the headset to the Carpuride or I don’t get any audio, and the audio is terrible. My interface looks slightly different to yours though but there’s no firmware available for it to update.
Hi . I am out and about at the moment . Send their customer support an e mail and they will tell you if software update is needed . I had the issue with poor audio and decided to simply connect the headset to my phone and then the phone to the w702. Has worked brilliantly . Try forgetting the headset if it shows up on the connected menu of the 702. Let me know how you get on 👍
@@gsd32i yeah I tried that and the audio breaks up intermittently but only the other person hearing me not the other way round. Either paired directly or not people can’t hear me properly.

I’m having this too. Looks like newer models have different firmware that won’t work like yours does. Which is rather annoying as I need my phone connected to the Cardo in order to use the app.
@@TheDervMan mine is the newest firmware. I had problems until I upgraded. What versions does yours have on it and have you switch the audio output to iPlay?
I'm an absolute sucker for tech like this! That was a super helpful overview, especially the setup/pairing part. Also great to see someone else who appreciates the Scenic Nav app, I love being able to plan a route in Google Maps then import in to Scenic. Will you be using this all the time for a few months as I'm keen to see what the reliability is like? I'd also like to know if they plan to release firmware updates for it. Thanks again GSD 👍

I have seen one called the Chigee… that has front and back camera.
If u know that, what would u think about both of them?
The Chigee does look good. But if you just want a unit to put on your scooter or motorbike, 5"or 7" screen and don't need all the other stuff, then for £200 the Carpuride seems to be great value. The Chigee costs£500-600 I believe. Currently have the 7" on my BMWR1250GS for longer testing and have purchased some Ram ball mounts to secure to my gps bar on the BMW.

Great video. I am struggling with the turn-by-turn settings. I have the iPhone (iOS 17.3.1) connected to the Cardo FreeCom 2X (FREECOM2X BT device) , and the Carpurides 7" connected to the iPhone (Carpuride (b7xXXX) BT device). The CarPlay works. I can listen to Tunein on the Cardo, but every time I try to use the Apple Maps, I do NOT get the turn-by-turn directions on the Cardo. I do get the maps to display on the Carpurides but no audio. I even tried Waze, but same results. Any suggestions?
Hi. on your Home Screen, do you have the green CarPlay icon next to the time and the bluetooth icon should have an orange x . CarPlay uses the bluetooth to start with and then changes over to the wifi so make sure that you have CarPlay enabled on your phone and join the iPhone CarPlay to the Carpuride unit. I am away from my bike so can't check but is there a loudspeaker icon on the screen for Apple Maps ? In your phone under settings , scrolling down to Apple Maps, is the spoken volume low/medium/high?
@@gsd32i Thank you for the super fast reply. I too am away from my GS now. If mind serves me, the maps do show a speaker icon (top one of the 3 available). Also, the speaker volume is set to to high. Again, assuming I remember correctly! One more think, when I paired the Cardo to the iPhone, I see 2 (not 1) FREECOM2X BT devices. Upon connecting to the Cardo, the iPhone selects one of the 2. Do you see the same? Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
Yes I see 2 and delete one of them, hopefully it's the right one. Not sure if it makes any difference. Hopefully its just the speaker icon.👍
I may have fixed the problem (fingers crossed!). It appears to be related to the Apple watch taking over the notifications. I have gone out twice already and left the apple watch behind. Siri now appears to "hear me". I am also getting the turn-by-turn notifications on the Cardo. Hopefully this will last. Wanted to share with the other users just in case someone was experiencing similar issues.

I have asked Carpuride to send me the 5" unit also, which they are doing, in order that I can do a comparison between the 2. I am out and about a fare bit on my R1250GS and even today I began to think that the 7"unit is fine. I guess its like having your first 50" tv and you thought it was huge...but now it looks like a portable one!

Just collected my GS, and where there was previously a DIN connector (under the main screen, on the right), is now a USB connector. Is there a way I can test it to see what voltage is coming through?

Beware of voltage (V - volts) and charging current (A - amps), they are two different things, although they are related and also related to load resistance = Ohm's law. The motorcycle electrical system voltage is 12V, the USB interface (USB-A, USB-C) of some adapter (which plugs into a 12V socket though) provides a stabilized 5V. And the maximum possible current (amps) to the load must be stated by the manufacturer of that USB adapter in the technical specification. Sometimes the max load that the power supply is capable of delivering is listed

Hi. I don't believe the route app , if you are referring to BMW's one will work. I had a look and it wasn't available on my iPhone in the CarPlay section of apps. Haven't fitted the BMW mount yet.

If it rains does the touchscreen go funny/not work? Otherwise it’s crap compared to the BMW Nav VI which isn’t the best… Also, does it dim itself on the go like when entering shade?
No auto dim function and also , as with the Garmin Zumo XT and indeed iPhones, under certain "rain" conditions the screen can give false finger inputs. This unit is a very good unit for its price, yes it does have some areas that definitely could be improved, but, on the whole for the majority of bikers it's a great bit of kit.

Great review thank you , however 1) i have reset and connect BT to the Edge then 2) connected to the W702 - A) listening and control the music fine B) Voice from MAPS and phones calls NOT coming through and i have to manual switch the phone ( IPhone 14 PMAX ) from car play to PT (Edge) to lichen, looks like the voice go to car play, any ideas?
Hi, do you have a headset? First try setting everything back to factory reset , the w702 and delete all connections and then start again having first switched your iPhone off and back on again. I had a similar issue when I could phone my wife BUT she could not hear me.........all working fine now . Let me know how you get on 😁

Have you tried pressing the button on the cardo nearest the front wheel, away from garage so can't remember which one that is , sometimes pressing this kicks everything back into working again. I also had to try several times even when I had the connection page up on the 702 with the crash helmet, although it said everything was fine and I had the green CarPlay symbol and the crossed out one next to it on the top menu bar, clearly something wasn't right and it took me several goes of removing and reconnecting to get it to work. I think at one point I checked on my iPhone and the audio was coming out of the phone and not the cardo speakers. I also think I used some choice language too! But I managed to get it all connected again and it's fine. Technology . Just off to town to get a 16gb sd card to update the software, if I can find one. I have told them that their support for updates is lacking as as a user you shouldn't have to e mail them to see what software v version is current. Longer term test video is being complied.......Great gadget and am waiting to try the 5' unit but thats been held up in London for 4 weeks for some reason.

I am having the same issues as other have described. I have Sena 10 and I can not get any sound from the Caruride to the Sena. I don't hear directions or music. It's too bad - I love the screen - but overall has proven to not work. I'll be returning tomorrow.
Hi. I actually tried to connect my old Sena 10s to the unit and it worked no problem. Just checking if you connected the phone to the Sena and then the phone to the carpuride. Don't connect the headset to the carpuride. I would try reseting both the carpuride and your Sena back to factory settings and Strat over agin. technology can be really annoying sometimes .I am still trying to find a 16gb sd card to update my 702 to the latest version of the software.
OK - I reset the Sena and the Carpuride. I then connected my phone to the Sena - all good. I connected my phone to Carpuride - all good. I can play my music from my phone through the Carpuride and hear it through the Sena. Car play is working - I put a destination in maps and took off. No volume for the directions. I feel I am close to figuring this out.

so I did get a response from Carpuride. They sent me an updated file to download and lo and behold it works!! I rode 200 miles this weekend and everything is great!
Does using wireless CarPlay drain your iPhone battery?
Drain your battery? I guess at some point it will . However , the screen uses the most power and as it will off, then you’ve only got the Bluetooth and wireless being used , so shouldn’t be too much of an issue . Small powerbank or usb connection if it’s an issue 👍
Can you use a large tank bag with this ?
There are various mounting options, if size is the issue of the screen then you could opt for the smaller one which I will be trying out soon when I have a spare day!

With your connection (phone to cardo and phone to W702) are you able to use your cardo to other cardo riders.
Also are you able to use the hey Cardo and hey seri commands of the Cardo unit.

@@paulojorgegil connect your phone to the headset first and check that it’s working and then connect the carpuride to the phone . You may have to press the “next” track button on your headset to get the Cardo to then start talking to the carpuride via the phone .
Interesting my 702 has come with a different manual and is working differently to what we’re seeing in this video. I’m having problems with the Carpuride taking over Bluetooth audio output meaning I have to open the phone and change BT audio output. I’ve only had it 30mins so might be doing something wrong. It’s important that I have my phone directly connected to the Cardo so I can use the ‘Hey Cardo’ commands.

Yes 80 euros hefty ,there must be cheaper out there but I've took the plunge as the U bolt supplied with unit won't fit round handle bar on gs .

I purchased this last week from Amazon, where they had a £40 discount code for it, thus only paying £180 (still on offer at the moment 19/02/24), which is just as well as I have had to also pay £18 for an Ultimate Addons Hella USB connection for my BMW GS as I also found it would not power via the USB on the bike, but the Hella has sorted that. Bought a smaller RAM mount so that it fits above my TFT screen, just waiting for that to arrive. I only wish I could add the MACNA heated clothing app to it, as that would allow me to control my heated gear on the move
just been looking at ram bar mounts to mount above the tft .looks like I will order that and mount a small arm to it. for the price the unit does seem to be great value . surprised that the bmw didn’t power the unit , will have a look ar the hella . I will run a long term test . 👍
@@gsd32i Gonna do my final fit at the weekend - found a screen protector on AMAZON for it too, going to used the supplied bar clamp compared to the one I bought for it as it looks as though it may give a better option - will let you know, also bought a tamperproof fixing to remove the thumbscrew on the RAM, but if the chap above is able to get it to work on the BMW Mount, then that is the preferred option
@Phoenix_1972 great . I have mounted mine to the accessory bar . I purchased a small ram bar and ball/bracket . I removed my screen and mounted it . So unless someone really wants to remove it then it should remain tamper proof as they can’t gain access to undo the ram screw. I was out testing it yesterday , thought the 7 inch display may have been too big, but the more I use it the more I like it. Did some filming yesterday for part of a longer test that I am doing , was in the pouring rain out and about just to see how the touch screen worked with its capacitance technology and glad to say with it mounted more or less vertically it didn’t misbehave once….and I got soaked. Looks like my zumo is destined for the garage cupboard….but let’s see how the unit performs other than “ hey folks I got sent this free, it’s brilliant” kind of video . stiff competition out there at the moment with Chigees new unit, but that’s more costly and lots of wires for a permanent fit, but does look good. I need a unit to swap easily between my 2 bikes👍

I'm not sure if you actually ordered one of these but this purchase seems real shady. Coming from China. Took weeks to ship. Tracking number long as hell. Anyone get one shipped this way to ease my mind or did I get scammed?
Hi Mark. Not shady . I have been waiting a number of weeks for the arrival of the 5inch unit and bmw bracket . Looking at the tracking details I get the feeling that they are sat in the corner of a warehouse waiting for customs to clear them , or something like that . 🙈
I don't mean to be raining on anybody's parade, but my experience has not been exactly the most positive, specifically around the bracket. The one I received from them is lacking a magnet which is key for the bracket to receive power from the BMW cradle. Without it, if it a $40 paper weight. Apparently I am not the only one who received that design! I notified them of the design flaw. I am expecting a replacement from them. I am hopeful that the new one will address their original design flaw. In all fairness, they did provide me with a fix, which required me to purchase a small magnet and crazy glue. Once retrofitted, the bracket did work. As for the W702. it works as advertised.
That aside, I noticed that "negative" comments on their website (specifically around the bracket) have a tendency to magically vanish. They reached out to me asking me to leave feedback following the purchase of the bracket. I did. I left a 1 star review lamenting the flaws in the bracket. Wouldn't you know, the next day, my comment had vanished. Did it again the following day.... I am sure you know how that story ends. Are these signs of a shady company? Perhaps I would classify them as unethical. My 2c.
I’ve had issues with mine when riding if I get a text message and try to open it the screen goes back to the start up screen and flashes constantly, the only way to stop it is to turn the ignition off and back on. I’d send it back but it’s a pain in the arse to send back to china. Also I must stop watching TH-camrs who get these items for free then go on about how good they are.

Hi Paul . I watched a ton of the videos before I said yes to them sending me the unit . Not one of the TH-camrs mentioned the screen when it gets wet . I did . But when I rode the bike in heavy rain it didn’t present an issue . So far I have found the unit really good with a few connection hiccups but that has even happened on my garmin zumo xt a premium brand unit , causing lots of colourful language to be thrown its way !!! Sometimes a full factory reset and deletion of the Bluetooth device on your phone and then start again to connect things helps just incase of handshake issues , or update the software . I hope you get it sorted , as my unit is very good ( at the moment !) ride safe .

@@mrdaulo Hi . I get it. Sometimes I wish I could post me trying to sort out issues with electronic gadgets, but TH-cam would take it down due to the bad language. I would say stick with it. The text thing, mine just speaks it to me and tells me the message. It's not on the screen??? Can't beat a good rant though. I would be interested if you did get it resolved by a factory reset, which I have done to mine and cleared all bluetooth settings from prior connections on the phone. Weiser, nope, not fitted.😁

Hi, definitely not. Loving the w792 and am getting the 5"version sent to me. There is clearly the initial lets look at it phase....but that soon disappears and you notice it when you want to notice it. longer term test in progress ATM.
Reading all the comments it seems that most of them are about how bad this product is which it is.
A word of caution to anyone looking to get one of these units. They are currently being shipped with an older version of firmware that doesn't support the setup Paul has in this video. I contacted Carpuride and they sent me the updated firmware and a new digital manual (same as in this video). I work in tech so very used to firmware upgrades and specific SD Card file format types etc etc. I followed the upgrade instructions to the letter, on unit 1 it powered off the moment I hit 'upgrade' and never came back to life, I tried all sorts. Sent it back to Amazon. The way it failed felt more like a hardware fault so sent it back. I ordered the same unit again, went through the upgrade process but the exact same thing happened again. Carpuride have either send me the wrong file or a corrupted file. So now I have a second dead unit. Anything running software will need regular software updates as the process used on these units is very ropey. I'll be sending the second unit back and consider my options for a few weeks. I'm actually really disappointed as it looks ideal for me. Just wanted to warn anyone else around the fragility of updating the firmware.
Hi. I will screen shot this and forward it to my contact at Carpuride for their comment. I am waiting for an update on how to "update" the software from my version to the latest version ,as part of a longer term test ,as I don't have a windows machine only an Apple laptop and they do say that the update should be done on a windows machine. The current version I have works really well and I wait with bated breath to see if there are any issues with the update IF I am able to do it on my Apple machine. Shame you've had issues as mine works brilliantly ATM!
@@gsd32i There will be a way to recover corrupted firmware but they're being a little guarded around that process! Here's what they sent me when I asked for Firmware recovery process. Number 4 is the closest I've got to a recovery option but didn't work for me. Again very frustrating given I'm using their upgrade file and their instructions. Thanks very much for your input. I'm sending the unit back today as a bit fed up with faffing around with it. They are trying but with 4 days between each response it's not very helpful!

1. Download the software to Windows.
2, Insert the TF card into the computer, first format the TF card into FAT32, it is recommended to use 8G or 16GB TF card.
3. Copy the software to the TF card. Please note that the software name cannot be changed or added characters when the software is copied to the TF card. If the software name contains (1) or (2), the software cannot be upgraded.
4, Pull out the TF card from the computer, and then insert it into the Carpuride device, power on the Carpuride device, and then long press the power button for more than 5 seconds to see whether the software will automatically update.

@@gsd32i FYI you don't need a windows machine, just make sure the SD Card is formatted as FAT32 rather than the default Apple File system. Then drop the file on there.

@@TheDervMan thanks . I used a 32 gig card as per their instructions , formatted it to fat 32 and inserted it etc but nothing . I now see they say 8-16 gig and hold the power button which was missing in my instructions . Who has a. 8-16 gig card !!! I will try again when I finish walking my dogs with the power button method . Technology ! Mine works so well, from a user point of view , way better than my zumo xt , I am a bit loathed to update but I will for the purpose of testing ….

@ The other thing was a tip about how to get the splash screen changed to an image of your choice instead of the Carpuride logo at boot up. Happy to share this tip with anyone who wants it. I have the W702 for my 1250 GSA, just asked for a pic of me on the bike to be added as the boot screen.
@@tyrosrob I have seen that and you send them an image. I am getting sent the 5" screen also. Great unit and will be testing both so any issues you have then please send them to me too. So far really pleased with it. Have you updated the software as it does seem strange that you have to e mail them to check this. I have already said that there should be a way to update the software like most other devices. Connected to wifi in my garage is just so convenient like my zumo xt does.
@@gsd32i Hadn't picked that up about the software updates. Yes that does seen a bit of a faff. Especially these days with everything updating on the fly. I'll let you know if I have any issues with the 7 inch screen. But right now it looks like I'll have a Zumo XT for sale soon ! Now to work on Tesla to get CarPlay working in that too and I'm set 🙂

RE: Customization: on your phone, go to settings/ General / CarPlay / select the device, then click customize, then move the icons around where you want, helps to have the unit connected to the CarPlay device so you can see what you are doing. I have watched the short video . I see you removed the ball from the back . I unscrewed mine and saw the electronics inside 🙈. Did you cut the ball off and glue the bracket on ?
@@gsd32i I cut the Ball off but kept the metal bit that seems to be a heat sink for the chip inside. I screwed the bracket on.
@@koreysherwin8239 ok . Today I purchased a ram bracket to mount on the accessory bar and a small ram bar. I will remove my zumo power cradle and hardwire the power feed in so it’s “switched” and run with that for a long term test . 👍
@@gsd32i I have exchanged email with CarPuride to see if they can make a version that snaps in to the navmount and is controllable via the WonderWheel.. I found another company that has their CarPlay unit controllable via the wonderwheel with a device that attached to the campus like a Hex ezCAN.. but does not snap into the Nav Mount..

Does not work with Cardo Pack Talk Edge 😐. It is a great large screen but it will only work with the Cardo if connected to 702. Unfortunately, in that mode the Cardo buttons do not work. If I connect Cardo to iPhone and iPhone to 702 I don't get any Audio. I can skip forward in songs and volume changes on phone but no audio out of Cardo. Contacted Carpuride and was sent new software patch but this did not resolve issue.
Hi . I have the packtalk edge and it works fine . I have had an issue similar to yours (currently doing a longer term test with the 702) I started again and reset everything to factory settings including the packtalk . When you pair the devices up makes sure you use the method I did as per the video ie phone to the w702 . Mine works really well and have functionality with the headset . Let me know how you get on .
