So frustrated with my Connected ride system…it just doesn’t work smoothly and granular navigation data is just not there. What was BMW thinking? Just make a bloody Apple Car Play unit.
Mine just arrived today (and thanks for the discount code!). What a clever device that fully lives up to all expectations. I use it with Android Auto and it's so good to have Waze and music on it's own dedicated screen. Not a single negative about it for me. It fully complements my riding style and requirements!!!!!!!
Great review, the best one I've watched so far on this device! One of the major benifits is the ability to leave the device on the bike, perfectly locked, wile you go for a meal or sightseeing. Allready order one, big expectations :)
Ease of removal is a prime feature for a good reason... This one doesn't have the security feature which I would only use in my garage anyway so best to remove I'd say
This is the path BMW should have gone down after the train wreck of the NAV VI and their lack of customer support in the repair and replacement of faulty units. Thumbs up to Chigee, I've preordered a unit. I'll be considering my choices carefully next time there's a BMW roundel in the mix.
Thank you for the referral. We’re opening pre orders 15th July. It’s worth noting the price you quoted from Chigee direct will incur import tax and duties. Our price includes Uk tax to residents within UK or less tax anywhere else in world. We’re expecting actual stock 1st week of August
Fabulous product , especially with the extra engine information etc on the data screen and the vertical whizz wheel functionality , which currently you don’t get on the lite version . 👍
Nice review, I am just a bit concerned how small the screen is when navigating. Was it possible to have the whole screen used for the map without any side-bars or menus etc. ?
Another excellent really in depth review, I bought the AOI-5 Lite after watching your review, (used your code), thank you. I think the Play version for the GS gives another option using the existing cradle and whizzy wheel. I really like the Lite version as I love the camera system and the blind spot monitoring and of course CarPlay. A good suggestion that Chigee allow the Home Screen customisation, I wish CarPlay was a bit more customisable, I would like to display the ambient temperature taken from the weather app, I have it on my watch and find it really useful. Thanks again.
Hi David, thanks. I do like the new data screen. Hopefully Chigee will have an adapter to allow the same screen pulling data from the BMW just like the cradle unit does, for the lite version. They really are pretty good at what they do...meanwhile the rest of the world will fall behind. Now if they did a inbuilt gps unit that would be even better!
@@jeffbruce9589 Hi Jeff, it basically is pulling the information from the bike that the nav 6 and the new version of that would display on their displays. Makes things just a bit easier to view, as more in the eyeline. I have just fitted the chigee cgrc Lin to my aio5 lite unit and it now displays those x2 data screens, all very nice. some folks don't like these things, I do, but each to their won. Ride safe.👍
Great review. You are the only one to mention Chigee’s integral GPS, I’m assuming for position accuracy. Ditched my non-ConnectedRide Navi. Fortunately my dealer refunded me as they wanted me to be “happy”. Will be buying all future things from them.
I'm just about to buy an F900GS to replace my Africa Twin...was a bit gutted to know I'd be losing CarPlay, but so glad I found this is about to be released. I've backed the Kickstarter, it looks like a really good product so looking forward to getting my hands on it.
Very cool system and definitely worth a look. The only thing that I’d like to better understand is obviously the Device is dependent on your phone and I assume the usage of mobile data services to work correctly. This is probably fine for those that are just road riding in areas that have suitable coverage and purchased mobile data plans. I’m looking for something that I can use on both my BMW and my Husqvarna which I take to places that don’t necessarily have mobile signal. Question for anyone that might know, will Apple Car Play or Connected Auto utilise the GPS built into the Chigee or are the apps totally dependent on the phones mobile for geolocation? I can’t imagine anything worse than suddenly losing mapping when you’re in the middle of nowhere. Yes I guess I could switch to offline maps but it’s additional faff I’d rather avoid.
So two things I've found out that maybe worth mentioning if not already since you posted this 1 you have to be on the bmw Home Screen to change from TFT to NAV and back Ie not sport screen 2 since your phone , in my case first ride .. is. Not plugged into the bike like the connected cradle , you will eat phone battery
Great video. Just purchased the carpuride 502 unit for my GS. Still happy with the purchase after watching the video, as it was much cheaper. Admittedly there are less features on my one but still happy.
I would LOVE to get one of these, but I can't even park it outside of a rest stop since it's hard wired. Their only quick release unit is for BMW only.
There's only 3 wires go to the cradle from the BMW so there must be a number of the many contacts in the cradle that are not used, it would have been great if Chigee could have retained the dash cam facility via the unused contacts. The cameras were the deciding factor in me choosing a Chigee, I don't think I would have purchased this new BMW dedicated unit even if it had have been available at the time of me purchasing AIO-5 Lite because of it's lack of cameras. Try using the small selector buttons on the left of the Carplay screen with winter gloves on instead of those thin summer gloves you demonstrated it with, it's not easy. I do really like the ability to remove it now though.
Hi . Either unit is very good . I did like the extra data displayed by the play unit . I do like the cameras and now have the lite back on . As far as the gloves go , yes small icons trade off for the 5” screen bit with the whizz wheel , top buttons , voice command etc then it’s not too much of an issue . No doubt they will bring out a 6 inch version of they see a market for it. Appreciate time taken to comment . Really like my Chigee and I get a lot of stuff to test and this is still on my bike , say no more really . Rode safe 👍
Great review, looks far superior in quality to my W702. Have sold my (terrible) connected ride nav and used your code for one of these! Thanks very much 👍🏼
Sooo .. if you were about to stumble into a BMW dealership, exit with a newer RT and had wet dreams of a chigee - what would you buy? The "Lite" need som addon to listen to the wheel, and perhaps even more addon to listen to the bike with rpm, tire pressure and such? How to combine with the lite cameras?
Looks like a superb unit. I run the Zumo XT on my Multistrada V4S. Do you know if they make a convective power plate for the Chigee to fit onto the Zumo mount, similar to the BMW one, as charging through that usb connector doesn't look water tight. Great review by the way.
Thanks and not sure if they do. Ref waterproofing usb, I use the swimmers silicone for ears, works a treat , use it on my action cameras to protect water ingress for audio inputs.
got it ordered with kickstarter chigee event, will miss the cameras though 😐 great video thanks for all the useful info, looking forward to getting it in Aug for my XR
Great bit of kit...I really liked the data display... the 5 lite has been un zip tied and is now back on the nav bar....was so close to leaving it on 🙈 Fab unit you wont be disappointed . Hopefully getting to ride the M version XR next week which has had some bits and pieces added...250 hp???
A great video -- very informative. But I have one question -- is Apple CarPlay something builtin to IOS 17 or is it an app to download to my phone? I want to use the Chigee on a F750GS.
Hi, to be honest I am not sure. The iPhone ,under settings has the CarPlay option, so not sure if this is a bridging part to simply connect the CarPlay device to the iPhone and the device has the carplay on it.
Quick question? So for those of us that have the Zumo XT mounted on our bikes where the Chigee would go do we just need to just put back the original BMW pieces to the mount and wire BMW's connector back on instead of Garmin's power source? Just curious of the steps since it's been so long since I have messed with it. Thank you so much! Love the review. Great job!!
Hi, great review thank you, so question, can we sit with this unit OFF the bike in the house and play with it through its various features and programs learning as such, or does it have to be on the bike and cradle to fire up.? W
Does the BMW TFT bluetooth functionality work while using the CarPlay? I mean the phonebook search/calls/music track switching using the wheel? Where do you connect the Scala Rider/SENA: to the BMW TFT or to Chigee?
Thanks for the Carpuride and Chigee reviews, subscribed! Between these two (putting the wonderwheel control outside) which one would you prefer for a new BMW for build qualiy, ease of use, display, GPS etc.?
I really do like the wonder wheel connectivity and the data screen of the play version. everyone has a budget and some might not be able to stretch to the chigee, with screen protector etc etc, so its great that the carpuride has the mid-budget end covered. no doubt that the build quality is A+ compared to the other brands.
Cracking vid, again! Do you know if this works with Gen 1 XR, as this doesn’t have a TFT on the bike. I was swaying toward the Carpuride before I seen this 🤦🏼♂️
Hi. Really fancying this bit of kit and your review is great. Daft question - I have the standard BMW Nav cradle on my R1250 GSA that accepts my Nav5 device. Does the Chigee unit just plug straight in to that? Looks like it does but just wanted to confirm. Thanks.
Thank your for this review ! When using Waze for navigation and a music app, do you have the possibility ton control music volume and change track using the wheel ? Thank you !
I noticed you have the tyre pressure connected - have you purchased their system for that? I cannot get it to read from mine...? Nice video -helpful! BR Claus
when you screw them onto the valve stems you only have a certain time window to register them to the play. not sure if in the settings there are options to select the nav tpms which is effect the bmw tpms or the bluetooth screw on ones.
@@gsd32i sorry to ask again, but if you have a R1300GS do you need to purchase the External Tire Pressure Sensors or it takes the reading from the BMW directly?
Nice video, I’ve got my AIO-5 for BMW on order from the Kickstarter. Can I ask with the Siri and the indicator button. Does this affect the cancelling of the indicators or do you end up calling Siri every time you cancel the indicators? Cheers
Thanks for the video. What navigation app do you recommend using that integrates well with Android Auto, is stable and capable of faithfully importing GPX tracks? Myroute, Sygic? It's a shame that BMW's doesn't interface with Android Auto. Thank you
Hi. I don't use Android so I can't help you. I have used myroute a while ago and that was ok. With a lot of this apps, in my case I use Scenic and you can plan a days ride whilst sat having breakfast and no need for gpx files, which if you want to you can export from the scenic app to your friends .
Is it possible to get a universal mount that the BMW one will slip onto? Great review of a great gadget. Would be even better if you can get a power only separate mount/holder for other bikes
As you don't have a TFT, you don't need to switch between units. Whizz-wheel control will default to whatever device is in the cradle as there is no second option (TFT) to choose from. I'm using the Wunderlinq unit on my 2017 1200GS with analog dials (the Wunderlinq is basically the same as this Chigee and has the same connectivity, functions etc) and its controlled by the whizz-wheel with no setup required.
Hello, I want to ask whether to connect the phone with the motorcycle. Or just the phone with chigee and the phone with the helmet. Thank you, best regards.
Thats always a question people ask. to be honest I always freak out when my phone drops to 75%, even at home😂 i end up with a usb cable to plug into the phone from the bikes dash. So i dont really know the answer tp that question. I also carry a small powerbank in my pocket if its needed too.
Thanks for the nice review, I have a question did you pair your phone to the chigee unit with the headset ( Sean or cardo) and the phone with the bike at the same time so you can have the bike data on bmw connected app? Did it work?
In my experience the minute you start connecting the phone to multiple devices ie chigee and tft then thats when the frustration starts. No I didn't try, but I have done in the past and had issues.
Hello, thank you very much for this review. What does happen when you crank up the motorcycle's engine? Does the Chigee reset and briefly cut connexion with the phone? I had a Carplay device on my '23 GS Adventure which I sold, because it would always briefly reset while cranking up my engine, which caused some navigation apps that I use to lose track.
@@gsd32i Thanks. I ask because I’ve had the odd issue with no phone signal in remote areas. The phones fine when you load the route up from the start and don’t deviate or get lost, if you do rerouting or calculating a new route becomes a problem. Interesting choice as there’s a few £100 between them. Great content, thanks again 👍🏻
I have a 15 Pro Max and with wireless CarPlay on my current setup (I have an Africa Twin with QuadLock's wireless CarPlay dongle) - I can get around a full day of riding out of it before it's flat if I don't charge it at all. That's about 9am (100% battery) to 6pm (0% battery). I've got a U-green Magsafe adaptor which I throw on at lunch/during stops to top it up, which will give me a bit more juice.
Am i missing something here - I buy a unit which needs my phone for information, uses my phone data for giving directions, supplying music etc etc all whilst my phone battery is draining…….whereas I can get the BMW phone mount and place my phone directly in the same location on the bike, I have full wiz wheel access, can use nav maps offline (no data usage) and everything else my phone has -or am I missing something?
I have one of these pre-ordered. I’m curious, though. If you’re listening to music or Audible or receiving a call or whatever, do you have your helmet paired with the bike or the Chigee? I currently have a Carpuride 705 and you can still control media via the WonderWheel if your helmet is paired only to the GS, but that’s even a bit hit or miss depending on the order you turn things on. Just looking for something a little more consistent.
Hi, I would ditch the wonder wheel pairing and just go with the paring the phone to the headset and the phone to the carpuride, just to keep things simple. Try the wonder wheel if you want but is suspect you will have issues as you are now connecting the phone to the tft etc.
Got this unit with your discount code, thanks for that. It arrived yesterday and I have a question: did you get the unit fired up via the USB-C connection? Mine doesn't, but it starts up fine on the BMW. It's not a big deal, but could be interesting for loading updates as you pointed out. Other than that, I'm impressed by the quality, the set up takes only 2 minutes and it fits perfectly on the BMW. This is exactly what I was looking for years already... Too bad I bought the BMW CRN only a couple of months ago, but that's technology... 🙂
Yes I used the usb-c....I think 🤔via a 3 pin plug into an extension reel. I had issues with the bmw socket simply not being beefy enough to power carpuride units that I have and when I fitted this unit check this video, th-cam.com/video/i491l2OVyxA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2sL0eFpyoB2we1QZ from Nippy Normans it worked a treat and powered the units up via the usb socket.
@@gsd32i Was using a USB-C connected to a 100W wall charger, so that can’t be it. But as I mentioned, the use cases for that are fairly limited, so not a big deal.
Hi, apologies for delay.....I checked the Chigee website and found this on the support page: Understanding Audio Playback on the AIO-5 Lite & AIO-5 Play Does the AIO-5 Support Built-in Speakers or Music Storage? The AIO-5 is not equipped with built-in speakers, music storage, or direct playback from SD cards. Audio playback is strictly through your smartphone’s Bluetooth-connected device (e.g., your headset).

I would delete any phone pairing that you have to the tft as it may impact on the turn by turn navigation audio, I had it yesterday , couldn't work out why no audio navigation from the chigee to my Cardo packtalk...then I saw the phone was also connected to the tft... delete that pairing or at least just disconnect the bluetooth in your phone settings to the tft. It just confuses things, some people think they are smart and connect the phone to both, but you will have problems....so just connect the phone to the chigee and headset to there phone...job done.
@@gsd32i cheers. I'll have to test it all out once I get the Chigee. Currently the phone is paired to the TFT, and that is paired to my Sena. I get calls, nav and music through the TFT. But, I guess it makes sense to pair directly with the Chigee since it will then be doing the nav, music and calls. I have my 2nd phone pairing channel on my Sena to a friend's Cardo system, so I will have more options to work out when the time comes.
I have just received my Chigee play as my Nav 5 is playing up. I have a BMW 900 XR-XT + cos I am a retired gadget geek and been riding since 10 and now 75 ( previous job Deep diver in the world oilfields amongst pthers jobs) and have all fingers and toes so not risk averse but risk aware. Have a Ford Mondeo ST 4wd which has Apple Car play compatibility but have never used. Do I need to set up my Apple Iphone 13 Max with the cars Apple Carplay before setting up the bike. Or can I just use on the bike from square one as my main use will be with Google Maps or Waze as a sat nav system which seems to work much better than the Garmin Navigator ????
I tried checking in their website, but it’s not mentioned - Can you stream audio to 2 different bluetooth devices through the Chigee device? Can you please test? For example Android devices can do that, but Iphones can’t.
Another great video. Do you know if this will work on a 2024 1250RT and the multi control wheel? I finally found a bracket that will sit above the RT TFT screen and will hold the BMW cradle. I emailed Chigee and got what I think is a very Chinese response "yes it will work with the RT'. which ignored the question about the control wheel. I know the K1600 has some issues but not sure about the RT.
Hi Gary, To be honest I do not know. If they say it will then they are pretty good at customer support. The Lite now has full functionality of the whizz wheel not only left and right but now up and down. I have to say that I really liked the Plays data screen which gave you more than the similar page on the lite. Hopefully with the add on data module the lite version gets the excellent play versions data screen. I was tempted to leave the cradle on I liked it that much, but in the end I wanted a dash camera fitted so went back to the lite version...but only just! 👍
@@gsd32i Our messages passed through the airwaves😁. I am sure at some point it's going to be a no. I could always buy it and use independently from the whizz wheel but seems a shame. I guess BMW don't want RT owners using after market Navs.
@@garyogden5873 Do Chigee not do the bluetooth CGRC controller for the play unit for the RT? With the new software update my whizz wheel is now able to use the vertical motion of the wheel as well as the left/right movement. It is v.good. Their support has been excellent so far. I suspect Chigee will become market leaders.......if not already. Best of luck.👍
@@simonjones1204 just going into hospital ward for a heart operation , literally . Give Chigee support a message . Hope they get it fixed . Yup fab unit 👍
And I am still trying to ascertain if I get a BMW Nav cradle it will work on an RT!! I asked Chigee and their response was yes - provided the bike has the navigation prep. To me that's a "no" because the RT has the TFT which incorporates the connected ride. If like my sister who has just purchased the 1250RS then its plug and play because that bike has the appropriate plug and software to connect and use the multi-control wheel. I have passed it to my local dealer and they can go round and round like I am😡
Modern technology! The do say about the cradle if your bike has it...so I would say its a NO, but stranger things have happened. Does the RT have the cradle as an option? What about the play version? with the bluetooth controller which brings the whizz wheel into action. Does the RT not have a nav mounting bar ? Or have they just gone for the massive TFT ?
I bought the same unit last week for my GS and tried it on a 750-mile 3-day tour. Unfortunately, Android Auto and MyRoute-app repeatedly overheated my Samsung S20 to the point that the camera wouldn't work at stops, and by mid-afternoon on day one, navigation stopped because Android shut down all the apps to protect itself. Luckily I'd taken my Nav6 as backup and used this for the rest of the trip. So the Chigee is great and works as advertised, but if you want full-day navigation from your phone, do be aware that it kills the phone. For many users the Chigee is terrific, but using a phone as a navigation device for hour after hour just isn't there yet. :(
Hi. Shame you had issues with your phone and the Chigee. All I can say is mine has worked flawlessly with my iPhone even on tour all day. Send Chigee customer support what you experienced with your phone.
@@gsd32i Hi. Just out of interest, did you have your phone on charge using the bike's USB, or did you let the battery level go down? Also, where did you have the phone? Was it in a pocket, tank bag, or out cooling in the wind? I'll drop Chigee an email but I suspect that they will say that phone battery usage and heat issues are not their problem, which I guess is true.
the only thing is now i need to figure out a good way of charging the phone. currently using one of the Chinese phone holders with wireless charging and on multi day trip or a few hour trip phone needs to be charged. powerbank could work, but that's mean two more devices to carry on my trips. any solutions?
@@jonno94 thanks just a yes or no would have been more useful and quicker for you to type. I can’t get the video to play for some reason hence the question, but thanks again really helpful.
Yes it does use the phone for sat nav, all a balance as to what you are happy with and ones needs...off roading away from roads and phone masts....may be an issue...cant see me doing that though I would panic at the first rut.😂
Can you ask the gods at Chigee can their unit support 2 cardo units so a pillion can listen to the sat nav instructions please, since you have their ear on these things.
The reason i asked you this question is I have just bought a Cardo it won't let my pillion good lady hear the sat nav instructions and finally I have just got it from Cardo tech that its them thats stopping it. Chigee need to get into this coms game I bet they could design and build better in their lunch break . Hears the quote from Cardo "Its a safety function installed via Cardo, sat nav instructions can be confusing/distracting for some driver/pillions. yet you can share music and a phone call which is worse. !!

@@gsd32i Thank you for your answer! Hope you don’t mind a follow up question. I want to be dead sure this is all well sorted before pulling the trigger on a 450€ device. With the described setup, what happens when you receive a call? I’m imagining the case that the incoming call shows on the Chigee and on the TFT. If you pick it up now from the TFT I presume you wouldn’t be able to hear anything because your headset is connected to the Chigee. Or am I overthinking this and because phone and Chigee have a connection the call will be routed through the Chigee and thus to the headset in any case? Basically I’m worried that I will gain some advantages like CarPlay and wonderwheel control of it but that I will have to sacrifice either stable phone interaction, music streaming or connected app ride data at some point. Would be brilliant if one could have all of the above flawlessly working alongside each other. But I’m not quite ready to believe it yet 😂 too many issues with the stupid, intervening TFT so far. Many thanks for your thoughts in advance!
I suppose you can use the turn signal canceling button on the bike to select options. Not sure how it will work once you realy want to cancel tthe turn signal :) Will it select something on the chigee?
With the whizz wheel integration on the BMW, for me it's the Chigee. But, if you are after a bigger screen then the Innovv is right up there and is highly recommended.
@@gsd32i thanks 🙏 but there isn’t a direct compatibility with the BMW nav support for the Innovv? I think I’m gonna go with Chigee, thanks for the full review! Subscription to your channel done 😉
Hello. So I have bought one of these.Really happy with it but there is no info on the battery and how to manage the battery. I leave the unit on my bike in the cradle. I don't ride every day. When I do ride and the Chigee starts up it says "low battery". Not really a problem yet because it is new but won't there be a deterioration issue with the battery if I keep doing this. There is no info/instructions on this. Should the unit be removed from the bike when not riding?
Hi. I quickly looked on the website and the Play for BMW has no batteries and relies on connection to the BMW for power according to them. Is it telling you that the bikes battery is low? Do you have an alarm ? Consider a battery tender if you haven't got one. Try removing the unit and see if the tft gives you the message.
@@gsd32i thanks for responding. No message on the TFT and the bike is hooked to a battery tender. The message is on the Chigee itself. I suppose I just ignore this?

Hi, I haven't seen anywhere in the unit that allows you to do this, unlike the Garmin XT. But if you have an app that allows that then you can"import"it that way. In my case I use Scenic and can plan multi point routes and not rely on what the computer throws at me.
So my issue with the Capuride version is that when connected to the tft and my helmet, the capuride is finicky with how phone calls come in. At times I have to push buttons to get the unit to use my Cardo Microphone. Any issues with this?

If you have an app on your phone that allows importing of the gpx file into that app, then yes, as the display simply mirrors car play from your phone.

Now if they did a inbuilt gps unit that would be even better!
bike shows ambient temp anyway, why do you want more double ups ?
@@jeffbruce9589 Hi Jeff, it basically is pulling the information from the bike that the nav 6 and the new version of that would display on their displays. Makes things just a bit easier to view, as more in the eyeline. I have just fitted the chigee cgrc Lin to my aio5 lite unit and it now displays those x2 data screens, all very nice. some folks don't like these things, I do, but each to their won. Ride safe.👍

can't wait to buy one, it's a big upgrade for the non TFT GS like my 2015 1200
Great review. You are the only one to mention Chigee’s integral GPS, I’m assuming for position accuracy. Ditched my non-ConnectedRide Navi. Fortunately my dealer refunded me as they wanted me to be “happy”. Will be buying all future things from them.
Thanks 👍
Answered my tpsm questions. Great video!
Thanks! I am glad you found it helpful!
So two things I've found out that maybe worth mentioning if not already since you posted this
1 you have to be on the bmw Home Screen to change from TFT to NAV and back
Ie not sport screen
2 since your phone , in my case first ride .. is. Not plugged into the bike like the connected cradle , you will eat phone battery
Great video. Just purchased the carpuride 502 unit for my GS. Still happy with the purchase after watching the video, as it was much cheaper.
Admittedly there are less features on my one but still happy.
All of these units are great all depends on budget etc and what you can get past your other half from a price point 😂
I would LOVE to get one of these, but I can't even park it outside of a rest stop since it's hard wired. Their only quick release unit is for BMW only.
Thanks for a great review I’ve just ordered one with your discount code thank you.
Will be selling my disappointing Carpuride 502
Great review! Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Unit ordered. 👍
Simply a very good unit that is quality and connects all the time … that’s why it’s a permanent feature on my GS . Enjoy 👍
Rode safe 👍
You always provide us great reviews, that is great inot for BMW , yessssss I'm getting one 😊

Sooo .. if you were about to stumble into a BMW dealership, exit with a newer RT and had wet dreams of a chigee - what would you buy? The "Lite" need som addon to listen to the wheel, and perhaps even more addon to listen to the bike with rpm, tire pressure and such? How to combine with the lite cameras?
All I can say I that the lite is on my 1250 and is staying.....for the time being!😂
Would like to see a bigger screen

Can't wait to get mine. Looks a brilliant bit of kit 👌
It is.😁
Very interested in this. Those in the UK that have bought it direct from the Chigee website - have you had to pay import duty?
Looks like a superb unit. I run the Zumo XT on my Multistrada V4S.
Do you know if they make a convective power plate for the Chigee to fit onto the Zumo mount, similar to the BMW one, as charging through that usb connector doesn't look water tight.
Great review by the way.
Thanks and not sure if they do. Ref waterproofing usb, I use the swimmers silicone for ears, works a treat , use it on my action cameras to protect water ingress for audio inputs.

Great job!!
Yes that's all you need to do.....a 5 minute job. 😁
@@gsd32i Great thank you! So both wiring and bracket. Got it. Thxs!
I have a Carpuride and it re-boots when you start the bike engine, does the Chigee also do this?
Mine doesn't .
Hi, great review thank you, so question, can we sit with this unit OFF the bike in the house and play with it through its various features and programs learning as such, or does it have to be on the bike and cradle to fire up.? W
Hi . If my memory serves me right I think you can via the usb c port on the bottom of the unit . 👍
Does the BMW TFT bluetooth functionality work while using the CarPlay? I mean the phonebook search/calls/music track switching using the wheel? Where do you connect the Scala Rider/SENA: to the BMW TFT or to Chigee?
I simply connect my headset to thee phone and the phone to the CarPlay of the chigee, all works fine.
Great review. Definitely worth money.
I was swaying toward the Carpuride before I seen this 🤦🏼♂️
try the Chigee lite.....and see if the can controller will allow the whizz wheel to control the chigee, makes a big difference IMHO
Does it activate Siri when cancelling the indicators? Is it smart enough to know which is which?
Yes it does activate Siri, but to be fair not an issue . With the lite version it takes a photo .
Hi. Really fancying this bit of kit and your review is great. Daft question - I have the standard BMW Nav cradle on my R1250 GSA that accepts my Nav5 device. Does the Chigee unit just plug straight in to that? Looks like it does but just wanted to confirm. Thanks.
Yes it does. Brilliant bit of kit. 👍
Thank your for this review ! When using Waze for navigation and a music app, do you have the possibility ton control music volume and change track using the wheel ? Thank you !
Hi, you can't control the volume with the wonder wheel, I simply say "Hey Cardo, volume down/up"
I noticed you have the tyre pressure connected - have you purchased their system for that? I cannot get it to read from mine...? Nice video -helpful! BR Claus

Nice video, I’ve got my AIO-5 for BMW on order from the Kickstarter. Can I ask with the Siri and the indicator button. Does this affect the cancelling of the indicators or do you end up calling Siri every time you cancel the indicators? Cheers
Yes you do end up activating Siri...but not a big issue.
Yes it would 👍

The benefit of not being a 'stand alone' navigation device is you can use the navigation app of your choice. Great!
Hi mine turned up on the weekend , brilliant device. What navigation app do you use ? I would need one which I can share with my mates
There are a few about but I use the app from Scenic. 👍
Excellent review. I noticed you switched from TFT mode to NAV mode on the menu button. How does this works on the 2016 BMW GSA with analogue meter?
If your bike has the nav prep cradle then your instruction manual should tell you how to switch between the 2 . 👍

Hi, really great in depth review. Does it drain your phone battery quickly?

A waste of £600.
Thx for the heads up on this kit

Do you know if the Connected Ride device from BMW has built in GPS or does it require a connection to a phone?
Hi, it does. Its BMW's in house replacement to the Garmin series that they used to use until last year.
Does calimoto work through the chigee?
I don't have Calimoto...if you can see it in the CarPlay section of your iPhone then it will work.
My question is - How long does the battery last on your phone? Which is in the pocket,
Small power bank or when it gets low plug a usb cable in. Simple.
@@gsd32i ok, i know. But i think that you tested it 😉
Mine would last most of the day from full, many variables to be honest. Music on/off etc
One thing I would really like to know is if "Hey Siri" works with the Sena or Cardo BT units? or is Siri only activated with turn signal?
Hey Siri works with my Cardo 👍

I was tempted to leave the cradle on I liked it that much, but in the end I wanted a dash camera
fitted so went back to the lite version...but only just! 👍
@@gsd32i Our messages passed through the airwaves😁. I am sure at some point it's going to be a no. I could always buy it and use independently from the whizz wheel but seems a shame. I guess BMW don't want RT owners using after market Navs.

Can be adaptable to a BMW K1200LT 2007, electric conexión and mounting?
Fantastic unit I ordered one on Kickstarter a few weeks back. when you start the bike does the unit stay on or does it turn off for a second?
Stays on. I think !
Is the mountain on the display, to show if the bike is on up or down hill hold?
No, its the altitude apparently?

With the whizz wheel integration on the BMW, for me it's the Chigee. But, if you are after a bigger screen then the Innovv is right up there and is highly recommended.
@@gsd32i thanks 🙏 but there isn’t a direct compatibility with the BMW nav support for the Innovv? I think I’m gonna go with Chigee, thanks for the full review! Subscription to your channel done 😉
@@snapbiker thanks, hoping to do a side by side test very soon.
@@getyourmotorrunning... I would take a photo of the screen and send it to Chigee. In my experience they are really helpful and should get back to you with an answer. support.chigee.com/portal/en/home
@@gsd32i In your video, you got the same screen about the battery. It’s at the 22:40 mark.
Quick question. Can you pair your iPhone to the Chigee and your helmet comms at the same time? Currently, I pair my iPhone only to my Sena to listen to music once in a while. I also pair my Sena with my riding buddies as well (but disconnect my phone when doing this).
The Chigee is showing you all the data that is already on the TFT. What is the purpose of that? Seems like the real value is the Apple Carplay, which you can get in much less expensive displays
That may be the case, the Chigee works very well. Choices choices.
Can you have the AUTO-LOCK feature enabled on an I-PHONE and have it working?
Hi . I’ve just checked my iPhone and it’s set to auto lock at 5 minutes and it’s not caused an issue .
@@gsd32i Oh GREAT! Thank you very much. I think I may just get one for my GSA 1250. When my phone is unlocked and in my pocket, when I open it, it has all kinds of things opened up.
@@ericjames7680 To be honest I didn’t know where the auto lock function was on my iPhone and had to look on TH-cam 😂 and yes mine has been set to 5 minutes and I’ve never changed it 👍
@@gsd32i I use to have it unlocked all the time but now have it at 3 minutes and like yourself I had to go to TH-cam for help.
Little confused what’s the advantage over mounting your phone into the bmw cradle ??
Phones really are not designed to be attached to a vibrating machine , also phone not on display so can’t get stolen . No having to use the touchscreen directly as the whizz wheel works for that . I guess you do what you feel comfy with .
I have a R1250 GSA and a Kawasaki KLR. Can I use the usb port to run this device on another non-BMW motorcycle?
No idea.🤷
Do you pair your Cardo to the Chigee unit?
I'm also curious how it's paired...the review didn't mention that.
No, just to your phone as per usual.
No need to pair to the Chigee, like all these units the phone is just paired to the headset.
Just wonder if you can use it to upload and ride gpx routes.
Hi, I haven't seen anywhere in the unit that allows you to do this, unlike the Garmin XT. But if you have an app that allows that then you can"import"it that way. In my case I use Scenic and can plan multi point routes and not rely on what the computer throws at me.
So does it work with non tft, but with nav cradle and wizzy wheel ?
Have a look for your bike on their website to see if it’s compatible.
Is there more the one version of the Ai05 as I see there is a light one what's the difference thanks
Yes, the aio5 lite is the basic one with the dash cameras and the aio5 play is just the display with no dash cameras .
So my issue with the Capuride version is that when connected to the tft and my helmet, the capuride is finicky with how phone calls come in. At times I have to push buttons to get the unit to use my Cardo Microphone. Any issues with this?
Connected to the tft...that may be your problem?
Can you use the Garmin zumo 660 sat nav mount?
No idea !
I don't even have a BMW, but still watching this 😂
Incidentally, been meaning to ask you for a while - have you heard of the new Interphone Ridesync? About £180 off sportsbikeshop to the rock from what I can see?
Would love to know what you think if you can get hold of one?
Not seen one ....I am waiting for Innovv to send me there 6 inch n1 pro though!
Can I load GPX files into the unit and will the navigation follow the correct route?
If you have an app on your phone that allows importing of the gpx file into that app, then yes, as the display simply mirrors car play from your phone.
How is it compare to Carpuride 502b?
The Chigee is at the top end of the smart nav displays on the market and the Carpuride is mid entry , both good units but built to different prices .
