I'm really thankful to you, no-one says something about these. So thank you so much.
Thanks for the tip on the quick split screen menu! I hadn't realized it could trigger split screen automatically, I just thought it was similar to the edge menu on my S10+. If this one isn't a gamechanger, it's damn close to one. At least my split screen usage will be shooting through the roof thanks to the ease of toggling it.

I use Excel a lot and I would like to know if you can select multiple cells (for example, for a SUM function) that are not next to each other (like C4, C22, E48) by holding down CTRL on the keyboard like in Windows? I can't do it with just a touch screen or screen keyboard, hence why I am so curious about they keyboard cover.
Hello - thank you for the great question. I have just tried this and unfortunately this is not possible in either normal android or Dex mode - this is a great shame as it is a very useful function. I am hoping this feature will be possible very soon
Hello, just an update for anyone who might be interested in this. So after Ed's prompt reply I got curious and did a bit of googling. Selecting non-adjacent cells is such a simple and core function in Excel that I always believed there must be some fundamental issues with mobile systems that don't allow it to work and that's why it's not available. It never occurred to me that it was deliberately left out. However, it seems I was wrong. As it turns out this has been a reported issue with Excel Online and the mobile versions of Excel (both under Android and iOS) for several years now and the fault lies with Microsoft in this matter. They haven't added this functionality to Excel so Samsung or Android have nothing to do with it. I just tested Google Sheets and it seems you can easily select non-adjacent cells on an android phone, even without a keyboard and dedicated function keys.
@@mikewhite955 I don't think I do. I don't own a laptop because I am not mobile most of the year. Hi, quick question. How comfortable is it to write if you have the tab in the cover and have it on the surface of a table for example. I ordered my keyboard cover and it will arrive next week or so, but I'm afraid it will hinder me to write notes in lectures.
Hi Ares, it is very comfortable to write on - I have used the writing quite extensively in the past week and loving it. It is very easy to use and feels like writing on paper as opposed to glass. The cover can lie flat on the table so feels like writing on a notepad, or you can have it at a slight angle with the kickstand open. You should have no issues at all
Hi. For office apps, if u edit a document like filling up a form, if u open it in another device like a laptop, will they look exactly the same as how it looked like in the tablet? I'm between the s6 and a laptop, I'm a little hesitated for the s6 because i don't know for how long Samsung is going to support it with updates. Did they support their past tablets?do we know anything for this one?
They kind of did support their last Tablets as they released a few models in the past few years. I have not seen anything of late but given it runs Android with Samsung OneUI which is the same as on the S10 for example, i suspect if they update that, they will also push through an update for the tablet (hope so anyway). What laptop are you considering?
@@ed_nico with the same cost ,Asus Zenbook 14 ux433 , with the i5, Samsung looks really promising but it's a tablet and I know they tend to forget their older devices after 2 years, which one would you choose?
I'm using the old Tab S3 and just the other day, I was surprised to find out that they updated it to Android 9 with the new One UI. This has breathed new life to S3. It runs like a new tablet. It seems that Samsung does stand by their older products.

I have not come across any sites that I could not open on the tablet. Also if using Google Chrome there is a "Desktop" option which allows you to open the website as it you were on a computer as opposed to the mobile version. I am sure Safari has this option too

It's an Office thing ...you can't. I work in Dex mode in a Note 9 all the time and it pains me so much I can't have 2 Excel files opened. I use Microsoft's and WPS Office ...but i hate it
Hi Nicholas, thank you very much for your comment. Unfortunately I could not find how to do a quick split screen in Dex mode like you can on the non-Dex mode. If there is not way, I am hope that Samsung introduce this soon as would make things so much easier.
On my Note 9, in Dex mode i have a mod/app from xda called Desktop Hub which allows snap to sides (windows left/right arrow, using a BT keyboard) ... The windows adjust themselves...just like the multi-window in non dex as shown in video. Not sure though on S6 as i dont own one. Maybe Ed can search, install and test (i think the app is available in Play Store)....it improves by 100 times the Dex experience
I have tried both and the main things for me was that the Samsung is limited in apps as you have W10 on the SP6. However, the screen, touch control, etc. on the Galaxy tab for me are 10x better than the SP6. I also compared to the Apple pro but price and functionality of DEX convinced me to go for this one. So far very very happy! (+ the battery is very good compared to the other 2)
I own this tablet. During the day, I wish the screen was brighter but still very useable. I got mine in used grade A condition for only $220. I use it for doing UBER & LYFT work.
Surface in my opinion comes out a little more expensive when you buy the pen, keyboard etc. However the choice comes down to the operating system, as there is not much else between them. If you cannot move away from Windows for when you are on the move you would be better of getting a Surface as you will miss some of the Windows functionality such as fully fledged Office. If not, then got for the Tab S6
Just switched from Tab S4 to iPad Pro 2018 with iPadOS, and I have to say iPadOS feels so much faster and smooth, apps feel like they're tailor-made for the iPad, new file system is great, the only thing I slightly miss is Samsung Dex but it's a small trade off imo. Unless your're Android dependent for whatever reason, I'd go for iPadOS any day.
Hi Vasilis, for my usage (emails, taking notes, browsing, videos, music, reading) the 6GB is more than fine. I have used the tablet with a number of open apps and watching video whilst taking notes and had absolutely no issues at all. To me the price difference was not justified but of course your usuage could be different to mine
Absolutely you can. You can have many more tabs open at the same time, as well as other apps and the Tablet will not slow down at all. I find the 6GB more than great!

@@ed_nico You're Welcome Ed
Please made a dedicated video on the note taking on this tab
Thanks Ayush - I will try to do this this weekend
How do i get the sidebar we see at 01:57 ? Nothing appears when i swipe :/ just missing the option to activate it in settings -> advanced.
Thank you Ed ;)
Thank you for the information. You can advise me, I am a university student, what is the best choice for me according to your experience of the iPad Pro 11 or tab s6
Afraid I have never used the iPad pro so cannot really comment, i find the tablet perfect for taking notes, emails, web surfing, research
Both is gonna be fine to be honest
Thanks for the video. I’m looking for a tablet that uses the ms windows version of ms word. This showed the basic version.
Thanks. If you want fully fledged MS office apps I think you will have to go for something like the Surface
I'm going to college next year and I really like the tab s6 and I'm thinking about getting it instead of a laptop.. is that a good idea?
Yes, with the samsung dex it will be a good replacement for a laptop
@@saifsarhan9519 Thank you for your reply
@@niksena yeah Thank you so much!! I ordered it today from Amazon.. it's gonna arrive in 3 weeks I guess.. can't wait 😆
I'll let you know how it goes. You can message me in a month, going to use it for school starting Jan of 2020. But for now I find I use it more than my desktop, which says a lot from me
@@Dreamsofthemorrow how is the writing experience on the tablet like? I am planning to buy this primarily to take notes and write essays for uni, is it a better option than the ipad air?

Thanks for the review. Just got S6 and was disappointed that Microsoft have now stopped editing on tablets over 10.1 Now you need to pay a full subscription. My old tablet S3 can still use basic Word etc but not S6. It took me a lot how to figure out how to get Office 365 9n my new tablet; I used my university account, now I have the full programme again. If you don't have this facility Dex is not worth having.
That is a shame of MS office, but glad you managed to get it sorted out via your university account. Hope you enjoy the tablet
Hi
Is the the flying button of the pen active on the Dex mode? And how can I use the pen to select part of the screen in the Dex, I have just purchased it and found most of pen options inactive on the Dex mode
Does your S6 have a jelly/warped effect when scrolling horizontal? I see a lot of people are having this issue.
Hi, how works the reading experience in apps like Kindle, Play Books and PDF documents?
Hola Alejandro, Google Play Books works very well and it easy very easy to get use (exact same as mobile version). When in landscape more it given even more of a feel of being a real book as you have pages side by side
Hi Ed, another question...with the keyboard with the maximal possible tilt of the tablet for writin or watching movies does your cover still stay put or does it get out?
Hello Joe, I am afraid it sounds like you have a defective cover - mine in no matter which position the table / kickstand / keyboard are in, the cover does not budge at all and stays on strong. I hope I understood your question correctly, but let me know if not. thanks
@@ed_nico You understood perfectly :-).
I will go and exchange mine...No sense in spending more time on that issue.
What a bummer.
Otherwise, the android tablet is very nice
Thanks again you for your help
Thanks for all your comments Joe. Hope you get the cover sorted out as yes the Tab is very nice. Find that I am using way more than expected.
Question: In Dex, is there a way to run two windows of the same app?
Unfortunately not Chips - would be a good idea though
Desktop Hub (xda forum)...if it works on S6 will allow that with many apps (not Office though :(( )
@@diaconescutiberiu7535 Thank you!!
better than the Ipad pro honeslty this is a solid device love the trackpad.
completely agree, the trackpad is a great addition
Can you have chrome extension add on? Jungle scout? Thanks
Afraind it is not possible to add add-ons through the mobile version of Chrome - not directly through Chrome anyway
For perspective on the performance test, is this the model with 6GB or 8GB of RAM?
This is the 6BG model
How does the keyboard cover work using in your lap? Or is it only good on a desk?
Hi Ben, in the videos i just show it on the desk, but this can absolutely be used on your lap and I am using it now slouched on the couch replying to comments. It does work very well on the lap too. Does take a little to get used to as it is not as sturdy as a laptop keyboard but you will quickly get the hang of it
Tech and Travel with Ed thanks!
Regarding to the Microsoft word...
Is there a free FONTS ??
Great review.. excellent job
Thank you so much!
You should have no issues at all
Does anything happen if you accidentally press any key when folded to the back??
@@ed_nico How fluid is writing with the pen in OneNote? Is there a lot of lag? How natural does it feel to you? 🤔
Is it true that the office does not work without a subscription if the screen diagonal is more than 10.1 inches?
That split screen tray will not function properly with Android 10 back gesture, or vice versa.
Thanks Jake - will need to test it out with the gestures
Hi. For office apps, if u edit a document like filling up a form, if u open it in another device like a laptop, will they look exactly the same as how it looked like in the tablet?
(It's just because everytime i write something, and open it in the computer, the letters arenall over the place) thanks
How do you enable the drawer with the recent apps on the side?
Hi, if you go to settings -> advanced features -> Multi Window Tray - select his as on. Hope this helps
Can you use the keyboard in the normal mode not dex for exemple 5:20
Hi Jean-Marc, this is absolutely possible. The keyboard can be used in both Dex and non-Dex. In normal mode you get a very similar experience with the keyboard as with Dex Hope this helps
@@ed_nico Thanks
Sir. Can all this also work exactly with the s4? I would go for the s6 but budget was not in the area. Many thanks.

Hi Pepe glad to hear that, it is a hell of a device - who needs Apple? ;)
Do you need an Office 365 subscription to use Word, Excell...? Or just a free Microsoft account?
If you have the answer please let me know
@@marceldrago1211 Yes, is free in displays with a size under 10.1 inches, and for sizes over 10.1 you need to have a subscription to Office 365 (mensually)

Can the Google search bar/ ok Google bar be removed?
It can indeed. The home screen can be customized as you wish, similar to the Samsung phone
Hi! I wanna know, is there usb slot for Tab S6?
Not directly on it, it's too thin for that. You can buy a cheap USB C dongle with USB ports. For slightly more you can get one with USB, HDMI and Ethernet.
As Pieter mentions, the tablet is too thin for a USB slot but it would have been a lovely addition to have one directly on the tablet
does the powerpoint have its presenter view option when you use the tab instead of the desktop version?
Are you able to auto hide the taskbar when you fullscreen a video on chrome browser? The S5e seems to have that problem in DeX Mode.
Does the office need subscription or free?
Tell me if you got it for free 🙏
Is browsing on a tablet like browsing on a computer? All sites run as computer version? Like the Apple Safari
I have not come across any sites that I could not open on the tablet. Also if using Google Chrome there is a "Desktop" option which allows you to open the website as it you were on a computer as opposed to the mobile version. I am sure Safari has this option too
@@ed_nico The Samsung Internet Browser does exactly that. Plus it's got a built-in dark theme and adblocker support
Are u using 6gb or 8gb. Which would u recommend
I use the 6GB Alice, which for my needs is more than enough. Not seen any lag at all and it is very responsive at all times. I think the 6GB should be more than fine
If you buy a magnet slab and stick it behind the adhesive so the adhesive part is in between the tab and the magnet could solve to whole samsung cheap issue.
This could be a possibility, although if not could buy some magnetic tape - might consider this is the adhesives become loose with time.
To use PowerPoint you need to pay? Or it free..for 10.1 inche above u need subscription
Hi, I have office 365 which is paid for but allows you to use the subscription on 5 devices
Dex is awesome. Thanks man

Is it possible to have multiple word documents open at a time?
Does it have the ability to call - without the net - and send text messages SMS?
Dear Sir,
Is it possible to write long messages in it and send it by E-mail etc., also as we can do in Microsoft word document ? If possible please Explain .
Hello Sir, it is indeed possible to write email and send these from the Tablet,. Word also runs very well, it is the mobile version as opposed to the Desktop version but all of the main features are there.

Hi ! interesting review.. I want to know can we open 2 documents in the same apps? for example 2 words documents side by side at the same time.. thank you 🙂
Hello - thank you very much. Good question, but unfortunately I do not think it is possible
If You open them with different apps? Yes, it works in any touch device.
Same app? Maybe with DEX but not sure
It's an Office thing ...you can't. I work in Dex mode in a Note 9 all the time and it pains me so much I can't have 2 Excel files opened. I use Microsoft's and WPS Office ...but i hate it
Is Microsoft office need subscription in Tabs..?
Great video. Can you do quick split screen in dex mood?
Yee you can
Hi Nicholas, thank you very much for your comment. Unfortunately I could not find how to do a quick split screen in Dex mode like you can on the non-Dex mode. If there is not way, I am hope that Samsung introduce this soon as would make things so much easier.
Thanks Olsin - could you share how please?
On my Note 9, in Dex mode i have a mod/app from xda called Desktop Hub which allows snap to sides (windows left/right arrow, using a BT keyboard) ... The windows adjust themselves...just like the multi-window in non dex as shown in video. Not sure though on S6 as i dont own one. Maybe Ed can search, install and test (i think the app is available in Play Store)....it improves by 100 times the Dex experience
think this is better than a surface pro 6? Im really on the fence on what to buy...help!
(+ the battery is very good compared to the other 2)
@@Spnkk and you can also use it for phone calls and sms (LTD version)

@@57Carlibra thank you
Could you compare business use of the S6 with surface pro? I understand they are in the same price range.
In DEX have you found a way to `snap` the screens to the side, quickly resizing them to the screen?
you mean like in windows 10?
@@aesthetictrashgang Yes. I figured out I could do it with the magnify glass key and the right and left arrows.... but is there a simpler quicker way?

can you enter Dex mode without the keyboard?
You can indeed - you can swipe down and access it from the quick access menu options
How is the system? How big is the difference with iPad OS?
Just switched from Tab S4 to iPad Pro 2018 with iPadOS, and I have to say iPadOS feels so much faster and smooth, apps feel like they're tailor-made for the iPad, new file system is great, the only thing I slightly miss is Samsung Dex but it's a small trade off imo. Unless your're Android dependent for whatever reason, I'd go for iPadOS any day.

@@eihamsalieba8662 Thanks for your answer, the use of DeX will be light and occasional. Linux on tab S6, I didn't know this. How is done?
Hi Vasilis, for my usage (emails, taking notes, browsing, videos, music, reading) the 6GB is more than fine.
