Went to Best Buy and checked it out in person for my own hands-on review 😉. After a personal hands-on review, I don't know for the life of me why someone would go with the iPad...
Absolutely correct. It sticks well to the side and is quite easy to get to and write something on the fly. Then as you say, put the stylus in its home to charge it
Hi Ahmed. I was a bit sceptical at first as I tested out the Tab S4 and stylus which to me felt unnatural. On the Tab S6 the stylus feels completely natural and the feeling of writing too, it does not feel like you are writing on glass at all
How hard is it to type on the keyboard with the tablet on your lap? The iPad pro keyboard has a large flat surface area with strong magnets to lock everything into place, which makes it good at a table or on your lap. I like this samsung design as far as being able to remove and attach the keyboard goes, but it looks like it would not be sturdy resting on your knees.
Got the tablet a few days ago and replying to you using the keyboard with the tablet on my lap and it's just fine, the kick stand is solid and holds the tablet in place no problem.
How is the lapability with the keyboard? I usually sit in a recliner with my dogs to work, and the Pixel Slate keyboard case doesn't work very well in that position. Hoping this is sturdier.
Keyboard is not too difficult / awkward to use on the lap - I am used to a laptop which is a bit sturdier so needed a few days to get used to it. It will not really work if you are sloughing as the keyboard cannot keep the screen up - hope this makes some sense
When storing the pen, wouldn't it be easier to set it in the groove from the case first, then close the case? I am wondering if that will then auto align the pen on the back cover? Try it then give us an update please.
Hi Adreiaun - this does indeed work very well and makes storing the stylus easier. Had not thought of it when did the video so great observation - thanks
I am indecisive about ipad air 10,5 inch and the samsung s6 tablet . I will be using it for school as an substitute for my laptop. Since my laptop is a bit to heavy. Which one would you guys recommend
I recommend Galaxy Tab S6. I do not have an iPad air, but I do have an iPad Pro 10.5, which is better than the Air. However I think the Galaxy Tab S6 is a better product than both, in my opinion. S-Pen is included, and Samsung dex is great for students. The keyboard case on the s6 is way better than iPad keyboard, with touchpad as well as kickstand as well as proper keys. IPad Pro is also great but no pen included, and a good deal more expensive.
To be honest I think it could have been manufactured with some slightly better materials. It does not feel too cheap but does not have that premium finish. I got mine with the pre-order discount so in the end paid £50, let's say I am not sure if it is worth the full price.
I'm going to sat that the back cover with magnets would have been better. I have the Galaxy S6 and the keyboard + back cover and my back cover has fallen off more times in a day, let a lone a week, than I'm happy with. 2 options spring to mind 1) Get adhesive magnetic strips to put in between the suction parts of the back cover 2) Get a replacement back cover if it is indeed faulty Do you have any alternative suggestions?
Hi Roy, I agree with you, the back cover should really have been some sort of magnetic attachment t make it easy to attach and remove at will. I have just posted a new video where I show that the back cover for me still sticks on very strongly, so it sounds like you may have a defective one - you do have to press quite hard to make it stick. I would say contact Samsung and get a replacement sent out
Great video, was wondering u open the ms one note.. what abt the ms office version, i use powerpoint a lot, especially 365 powerpoints, does it work well in the new tab? Is there any image editing software like a light adobe ?
Thank you very much Lati - Office works perfectly well. I was playing around with Excel, but PowerPoint works like a charm to edit / annotate slides etc.
Hi I just wanted to ask is the 128gb 6gb more then enough for a student who will probably using this everyday quite frequent for studying and entertainment or will the 8gb version be needed?
Hi, do you always keep the bookcover back on the tablet or do you remove it from time to time...i find that is not as sticky as i would like so i wont hold it by the lower kickstand part anymore or will be extra cautious
Hi Joe, I do indeed keep the back cover on the tablet all the time now. Cover seems to stick well but yes I am not sure I would comfortably lift it by the kickstand too often
Hi Joe, I have had no problems with the back cover as I think you have seen in my latest video, would definitely say get in touch with Samsung to get it exchanged. Mine feels well stuck on and not loose or anything
@@JoeGillian0 it's not defective mate, there are literally 100s of users complaining about the kickstand. It's such rubbish. It's a shame, 3 keyboards later I have found one that's decent enough to stay on there. But it's such a joke.
@@BrownSugarBank Agree mine has even small parts of the suction adhesive part or whatever you want to call it that disintegrates and leaves some residue... What a nightmare.... Did not know it was kind of a one time deal where you scarcely must remove it....
Thanks just a question about the book rear cover . Mine when propping up the table keeps falling off it won't stay attached you having any issues ? Also how do you print from the tablet ?
Hi, I have no issues as such with the rear cover - I have just posted an updated video where you can see mine if still on strong, sounds like yours might have an issue. You do need to press quite hard on the book cover to make it stick. In terms of printing - I have not tried this out yet - will look into this
I had the same problem. I don't intend on removing it at any stage, so i applied asmall amount of double- sided tape. If you use the gel variety, it should come off fairky easily without leaving sticky residue. I know it's a fault in the design, but it's such a good keyboard in every other way, i didn't really want to return it.
Hi. Is the trackpad half left click and half right click? I'm not used to that and wanted to know if something was wrong with mine because everytime I click the right side, it goes back to the previous page. I tried calling Samsung and no one seems to know.
Yes this could be a possibility but then if the stylus is not placed correctly it will not charge. Its not a huge deal, just takes a little to get used to given the new concept
I do have a question When I'm typing I notice my palm keeps touching the touchpad. and moving my cursor. Is there any way to disable ONLY the touch funtion of the touchpad? I rather just use the hard press on the touchpad
I think I will be, especially as I will be using it on occasions without the keyboard so think will cover it. It would have been nice for Samsung to preinstall some sort of screen protection like they did on the S10. It is the small touches that make a big difference. Will wait and see what comes up on Amazon for screen protectors.

keyboard does not attach backwards. It is possible to use both the virtual keyboard as well as the physical on. When physical keyboard is folded, the virtual one comes up automatically
There is indeed Adrian. The magnets on the keyboard keep the device closed well. I have read some comments of people saying they are loose but this is the the case. Mine closes well and stays closed
I can only agree with O'Neil as never used the Ipad for more than 10 mins - have to say the S6 feels more natural and you do not have the feeling of writing on glass, feels more like paper
on note 9, one can long press on an app (list of open apps) and select there open in split screen view and open in pop-up view . pop-up view is like a multivindow view where one can have more than 2 apps open at the same time in separate windows. wonderimg if tab s6 has that feature. then when annotating word docs, drawing shapes on them. i was wondering if saving on tab s6 and opening the same doc on windows in ms word, how those shapes can be manipulated there with mouse. then played with dex on a note 9 on a monitor (usb c hub, then hdmi from hub to monitor). if one opens chrome browser, one cant zoom in and out, even in desktop mode. tab s6 is like 750€, will wait until price drops.

Was super skeptical about that before i bought the tablet, now that I have it, Its not really adhesive, it's like a suction type material paired with magnets, it works really well and does not leave any residue or anything.
Why do people care about headphone jacks in 2019? Just go wireless. Even if you have a hi-end headphones you probably wont use them to listen to shitty sounds coming from tablet hardware, you use dedicated audio player for that.
Most of them are gamers. Wireless is a definition of latency. Latency makes you loosing the game. Loosing the game makes you furious. Furious makes you really angry. Really angry makes you wanna kill somebody. Kill somebody makes you go to jail. Go to jail makes you depression. Depression makes you death. Death makes you well deathhhhh. SO DON'T GO WIRELESS !!!!

You got a new sub here :)
Hi Misu, what a lovely comment, very kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you very much for the Sub! Hope you will enjoy my up comming videos too
Went to Best Buy and checked it out in person for my own hands-on review 😉.
After a personal hands-on review, I don't know for the life of me why someone would go with the iPad...
haha Angelo, i liked your comment. This seems to be able to do so much more than an iPad - did you end up buying one, which one?
@@ed_nico Yes I did! I love it.
How well will this be in the long run? Will it be okay for 2 years?
If this is anything like Samsung's phones then this will hold the strength of time in my opinion
Just stick it to the side when using actively .. the back area is for when it needs charging too.
Absolutely correct. It sticks well to the side and is quite easy to get to and write something on the fly. Then as you say, put the stylus in its home to charge it
Perhaps, Dex will be the default screen in future Samsung tablet devices.
without a keyboard, dexx is kinda cumbersome so unless they polish it, tablet mode is better if you dont have one.
Completely agree - Dex does need some polishing
Hey great review but what about the feel of the pen i mean holding it is it comfortable and natural because it has some what a rectangular shape
Can you discuss taking calls on this device ....or using the feature of answering calls on this device forwarded from you Samsung note
Up 👍... Need the answers too
I would like to know too.
How can I make Tab S6 work as a dual sim card mobile phone ? How can I insert two sim cards in Tab S 6 ?
Rythym Samsung galaxy tab s6
I recommend Galaxy Tab S6. I do not have an iPad air, but I do have an iPad Pro 10.5, which is better than the Air. However I think the Galaxy Tab S6 is a better product than both, in my opinion. S-Pen is included, and Samsung dex is great for students. The keyboard case on the s6 is way better than iPad keyboard, with touchpad as well as kickstand as well as proper keys. IPad Pro is also great but no pen included, and a good deal more expensive.
Does the keyboard feel like cheap plastic? The last Samsung keyboard felt cheap to me. Does it feel the same?
To be honest I think it could have been manufactured with some slightly better materials. It does not feel too cheap but does not have that premium finish. I got mine with the pre-order discount so in the end paid £50, let's say I am not sure if it is worth the full price.
I'm going to sat that the back cover with magnets would have been better. I have the Galaxy S6 and the keyboard + back cover and my back cover has fallen off more times in a day, let a lone a week, than I'm happy with.
2 options spring to mind
1) Get adhesive magnetic strips to put in between the suction parts of the back cover
2) Get a replacement back cover if it is indeed faulty
Do you have any alternative suggestions?
Thanks Ed great review
I'm really interested in knowing if the S6 has the same WiFi problems as the S5e.
How interesting, What sort of problems did the 5Se have? I skipped that tablet thanks
@@ed_nico if you put your hand on or covered up the top left corner of the tab s5e it would block out the WiFi signal
Thank you for clarifying - I have not encountered this problem on the Tab S6
nice review .. could you tell where to get same keyboard.. I need similer because characters on corner so I can use space for other language.. thanks
Hi YSF thank you. I got the keyboard direct Samsung however there are plenty of options on Amazon too
Sorry, what is the price of the keyboard cover in dollars
Hi I just wanted to ask is the 128gb 6gb more then enough for a student who will probably using this everyday quite frequent for studying and entertainment or will the 8gb version be needed?
Absolutely Danyal. In my opinion that is more than enough. for studying and passing the time.
where do you buy it ??
Is the keyboard kickstand stil holding well to the back of the tablet?
Hi, it is indeed still holding well,. I have not had any issues to be honest
Can you lock the screen so it doesn't go to a wide screen mode when you tilt it ??
Late but yes you can lock portrait mode
You can indeed Emmett - just as you can on the phone, it comes with rotation lock
Thnx for the video I honestly don't get why people nag about headphone Jack
Get a blue tooth headset already they are amazing
Think I will need to look into this wizardry
Hi, do you always keep the bookcover back on the tablet or do you remove it from time to time...i find that is not as sticky as i would like so i wont hold it by the lower kickstand part anymore or will be extra cautious
Hi Joe, I do indeed keep the back cover on the tablet all the time now. Cover seems to stick well but yes I am not sure I would comfortably lift it by the kickstand too often
@@ed_nico Thanks Ed.
Mine must be détective i will try to echange it
Hi Joe, I have had no problems with the back cover as I think you have seen in my latest video, would definitely say get in touch with Samsung to get it exchanged.
Nice review, thank you.
Thank you very much
Thanks just a question about the book rear cover .
Can you use the s6 keyboard on the s4 one?
I am afraid I am not sure as do not have an S4 - maybe a fellow TH-camr can comment to asssit?
@@ed_nico it's not possible :(
Different attachment points
@SSArt s4 has it
How about put the pen in the cover slot and close it ??????
Yes this could be a possibility but then if the stylus is not placed correctly it will not charge. Its not a huge deal, just takes a little to get used to given the new concept
I do have a question When I'm typing I notice my palm keeps touching the touchpad. and moving my cursor. Is there any way to disable ONLY the touch funtion of the touchpad? I rather just use the hard press on the touchpad
I wonder the same.....even he said he rested the palm without problem
Fn+Space to turn off trackpad.
@@maximustaliban5078 yea I know that but I wanted to keep the track pad on click only and not touch.. just like they have the options on my laptop
Thanks
thank you very much for your comment
Out of curiosity, will you be installing some kind of screen protector whether it be tempered glass or plastic for the S6?
I think I will be, especially as I will be using it on occasions without the keyboard so think will cover it. It would have been nice for Samsung to preinstall some sort of screen protection like they did on the S10. It is the small touches that make a big difference. Will wait and see what comes up on Amazon for screen protectors.
Tech and Travel with Ed Sounds good! Please keep us updated with new videos when you can since most of us won’t be getting the tablets until later this month or next 😉
I bought a pack of 2 tempered glass screen protector from amazon for 8$
2 questions
1. Is the original S-Note from 2014 (not Samsung notes) available on this tablet? If so, what are the features? Can you please do a review on this app with this tablet
2. Is Samsung "scrapbook " app available on this tablet
D- Sean I believe the snote app is available on the Samsung App Store only
@@pumps0333 I know but can you download it to that tablet
hi, I could not see either of these apps on the Samsung playstore, not sure if i am missing something?
u need to go to the samsung notes settings and sync your snote notes to your samsung account.
@@pumps0333 you cannot sync S-notes to Samsung notes
How much is this cover? And where can I buy it from?
Hi Aaron, cover is about GPB 150 - comes direct from Samsung
Does tablet support wireless charging?
Necromancer189 no
The metal body along with its large size prevents wireless charging from being a possibility, however the s pen charges wirelessly from the back of the system
This account is Retired Any does it support hdmi out?
Theoretically if you have a USB-C to HDMI cable it should
does the pen bump on the case make it difficult to write on the tablet in portrait (when it's on the table) ?
Not at all Ali - does take some getting used to but after a couple of days it feels natural
I need help with my Samsung Note 6 Tablet - 10 ys. old.
I have a lot of music on it and want to take it off and put it
on another device. It plays the music - I see the songs,
but when I plug it up to my computer and locate the folder
it says that it's EMPTY! So I cannot move it out into

Hi, I have just got mine yesterday, is there a way to use the on screen keyboard when the physical keyboard is folded back. I have tired but when the physical keyboard is attached the on screen keyboard doesn'tgetactivated, any solutions?
Hey man! Are you based in India? If yes, how did you get the tab!?
I am waiting for the Indian launch!
Thanks a ton!
@@CyrusDastoor I am currently travelling in the Ireland, bought it from here.
can you attach the keyboard backwards?
also i think there in an option in parameters to use the virtual keyboard and the physical one at the same time.
keyboard does not attach backwards. It is possible to use both the virtual keyboard as well as the physical on. When physical keyboard is folded, the virtual one comes up automatically
@@ed_nico ok :-)
I think the design of the keyboard cover is brillant.
It will be a nice replacement for my old 10.8" surface 3 (atome processor)
Is there a magnet on the keyboard cover upon closing?
There is indeed Adrian. The magnets on the keyboard keep the device closed well. I have read some comments of people saying they are loose but this is the the case. Mine closes well and stays closed
Which Is Better ti take notes iPad pro or Tab s6?
Paolo Storti tab s6 undoubtedly

Is there a sim slot for S6?
Does this Samsung keyboard connect by bluetooth?
no. POGO pins
is it possible to tell me where to buy the book cover keyboard? that you show us in the video . I have the galaxy tab 6 thanks
Hello Ingrid, I got it direct from Samsung - I have not yet seen it on Amazon / Currys. Thanks
I want to know, if this tablet will support the *Android version of the OpenOffice word processing software?*
There are a few OpenOffice apps that can be downloaded, both the Mobisystem and Docs To Go free - hope these will accommodate your needs
DOES THE KEYBOARD FALL OFF IF WE DANGLE IT OR HANG IT?

Does this wifi only ver. contains GPS function?

Hi mate can you use gesture navigation instead of the 3 button system?
Yes. It's the same as any Android
i would say gesture navigation in android 10 (like on pixel) is different than on the tab s6, which has still android 9 like on note 9.

is the keyboard case cover make the tablet better ?
I'm thinking about getting one myself.
Can one import and edit pdf with the one note app? I never tried tablet version of one note before. I always use the one on the PC.
Hi unfortunately it does not seem possible to import PDfs into onenote from the tablet I hope they add this functionality very soon though as I use it a lot on computer too
@@ed_nico I see.
Have you maybe tried making a new page in onenote PC, Import a PDF file as printout, sync it, then open the same note in the tablet? I'm interested to know if this works or not
Wattsap compatible?
This kickstand is bad engineering. Don't leave the tablet propped up by the kickstand for extended periods like more than whole day because the adhesive will fail.
Thanks for the comment Zed. I have not had this issue but I have not left it on the kickstand for that long.
What I really want to know is why you guys got yours already but I preordered mine the night before they were supposedly going live and I still have to wait 2 more weeks?
It probably went live on the 22nd and they didn't tell anyone. Just my luck
That is such a shame!! I am in London, and ordered it on the 22nd August and it arrived on the 31st August. Hope you get yours sooner than in 2 weeks - where are you based? When I got the S10, I did have to wait a couple of weeks after it was released
@@ed_nico I'm in the US and I ordered it on the 22nd but it was at night. I just wasn't part of that first wave like I was with the note 10 I guess. Yeah I won't get my tablet until the 13th and won't get the case until the 19th...all bad since I got it so I could use it daily.
I just got one soets see, any thoughs
Why no headphone jack....it's a large tablet...there must be space to put one in somewhere. Massive oversight Samsung. I will stick with my old but still brilliant Tab S.
I completely agree - last couple of days I wanted to watch something on the plane...oh wait can't unless I want to disturb everyone. I appreciate there are adaptors and things you can buy but should be a bit simpler sometimes. The missing headphone jack is a major bummer
@@ed_nico and thats the reason "you can buy".....its all about how much money can these companies make . On premium devices wireless earbuds should be included in the box. Ggrrr.
