Vagus Nerve: Ribcage Massage for Stress Relief

  • In this video, JIll shows two techniques to stimulate vagus nerve innervations in the lungs, diaphragm and heart. Combining breathing strategies with position and pressure, invites the relaxation response. The first technique involves lying on your side with the Coregeous Ball along the side ribs. The upper hand creates pressure as you concentrate focus on your breath. The second technique is face down with the Coregeous Ball directly on the sternum, stimulating the vagus nerve via the heart space by directing pressure into the sensors at the top of the heart called baroreceptors. Try these techniques for 10 to 20 minutes to fully release the day.

These vagus nerve exercise videos are incredible thank you. I’m using vagal toning as part of a strategy to recover from a debilitating long-term illness that put me in a wheelchair. Can I also compliment your videos for having no distracting music and no irritating sound effects… Just you talking and straight to the point. Absolutely love it! Wish more TH-cam videos were like this.

It's the relaxation response that affects the vagus nerve. MUCH easier ways to do this: meditation is #1, yoga breathing, foot massage. All these experts, lol.

This can be helpful as it relaxes your nervous system and also helps the diaphragm to move better. Frequently in IBS, the bloating can prevent the diaphragm and the breath muscles from moving through their full range of motion. Their motion helps move digestive matter along the digestive tract.

    • @jillmiller389
      @jillmiller389 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Great question, try an alternate set of cues: inhale, hold your breath, don't let air escape-but act as though you were going to blow out candles on a cake without letting air out AND without straining to do this action.

I try to focus on the video.
    and I fucking can't.
all I can do is sob my soul out.
    people always think
    I'm much-much older than I am.
    and it's so-so very-very humiliating.
    it fills me with overwhelming
    grief and rage and shame.
how will I ever attract a mate,
if the opposite sex isn't attracted to me?
    I literally die inside.
    part of me dies:
from the powerlessness and the shame...
