    Dude I really like your reviews but what’s the deal with these manufactures? They are making economical motors but only allow you to have them in very uneconomical packages? Seems backwards to me. Keep up the content man.

      Check this out, it's not all that economical of a vehicle unless you drive it a LOT and I mean a LOT: www.fordf150blog.com/cost-of-ownership-2-7-3-5-ecoboost-vs-3-0-powerstroke/

    I have this truck. 2018 FX4 Platinum. It's amazing to read the comments from the ppl who never owned it. I have 60k miles on it and it runs like new with no issues.

    The body color grill is just part of the lariat sport package, you can also get it with a chrome grille and wheels with the chrome package or a standard silver grill - however if you get the 502a luxury package it automatically upgrades you to the chrome pack or you can pay an additional 300 for the sport pack

    Im a diesel lover but I think that this truck is a rip-off. Who’s gonna buy a diesel engine that is designed for 150k miles plus it has timing belt and another belt for the high pressure pump . And def dpf and all that crap that make diesel engines this days not reliable at all . No thanks im going back to gas engines .

  • @dannukesem
    @dannukesem 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's probably an ok motor, but I worry about it a little when going over 100,000 miles. I think I will go with the 5.0, it's a proven engine that lasts 200,000 + miles.

  • @JsGarage
    @JsGarage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would buy one of these if they made them like 3.5-4.5L and 320 hp and 450 Tq. These boring ass 240-260hp diesels are for economy and light workloads. I need a little more acceleration in my daily drive.

    Yes, the eco 3.5 has more HP and just slightly greater torque but that torque is at much higher RPMs. I believe the max torque for the gas engine is at 3800 RPMs while the max for the diesel is at 1800 RPMs. That is just about cruising RPMs. I would gladly put the diesel up against the 3.5 towing down a highway. When you hit a hill I have a feeling that 3.5 is going to stuggle. I was towing my 7500lb camper on cruise control set to 70 with no issues on the hills. I would really love to see the 3.5 do that. I also want to point out that the specs on the 3.5 is only using the expensive unleaded gas not the cheap stuff. That is usually more than diesel but not always.

  • @happynow01
    @happynow01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The weakest part to diesel is oil change cost... it showed $269 av cost for this truck, $189 if you DIY... that ends my interest lol, good review though.

  • @fun2drive107
    @fun2drive107 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    $54K for a 2 wheel drive? This is the engine that Ford developed in 2003 that they told us would be in 2004 F150's but they pushed it off to Europe. Nothing like being a mere 13-14 late. Ram has had this type of diesel since 2104 240HP 440 pound foot torque but also is expensive. Is the diesel worth 4500 bucks more? I had a Super Duty ran until I sold it flawlessly 189K miles. My current diesel is the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same 3.0L that is in the Ram. I am on a trip right now and my first fill up was 29 mpg and this tank 33.3 mpg and it is 4 wheel drive.
    I think I will be going to a Ridgeline Honda. The 17 model I had is in the hands of my former fiancee' and we both loved it. Fuel mileage finally jumped to 28 mpg. However it is between a Ranger and F150 which is the size I prefer. It is so quiet and rides so well that it seems more car than truck. The Ram by the way drove like a ponderous pig and I will never buy the 1500 RAM. If the F150 is a cumbersome as the Ram I will never buy one. I am betting the F150 is a lot more nimble and more car like ride than the Ram. It was worse than my Super Duty which to me was an amazing ride with tons of space in crew cab. True seating for 6 in comfort...

    How does a lariat not have navigation? That to me is crazy my 2017 f150 xlt with the 302a package has navigation and everything this truck has and more.....Except leather.

    the main problem with this truck and the thing he's not mentioning is the tow rating for the F 150 with a 3. 5 L twin turbo V6 4 wheel drive is over 11, 000 lb and 2 wheel drive is just over 12000 lb I think it's 13100 lb.

      These engines have been in production for nearly a decade. I believe all or most of the issues are already worked out.

    • @freddyflintstoned913
      @freddyflintstoned913 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will always recommend a buyer to wait a few model years before buying. Land Rover and most British built cars are not known for their reliability. Now if Toyota was building it I would give it a big HeII yes!

    • @kingdaniel3519
      @kingdaniel3519 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree about Land Rover having reliability issues, but these engines have always been built by Ford.

    • @TheSingleTrucker
      @TheSingleTrucker 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He is correct, while the LR engine has been out a decade, this baby powerstroke is built from the ground up specifically for the f150. Thats why ya wait for v2.0.

      Ya agreed, save like 9grand (in Canada! 😀) and get the 2.7 they can tow quite close to the same.

    • @EyrthWyrmJym
      @EyrthWyrmJym 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. The fuel savings will be killed by the amount of money spent on keeping the emissions systems alive and well. New diesels have become so strangled that they only make sense on larger trucks, where the government is more relaxed on emissions standards.

    • @owenglover3279
      @owenglover3279 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you have to tow a LOT to make up that +$4000 purchase price, check this out: www.fordf150blog.com/cost-of-ownership-2-7-3-5-ecoboost-vs-3-0-powerstroke/

  • @milesstandish7907
    @milesstandish7907 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yet another 'review' if a diesel vehicle where the 'reviewer' doesn't know jack squat about diesels.
    This guy went on and on about how great it is that you can use the trans manual function to keep the speed in check while going down hill, but didn't mention the fact that this thing DOESN'T come with an exhaust brake(like its competition does), which by design is there to keep the vehicle's speed in check going down hill without taxing the trans or brakes.

  • @jeffomspaugh6691
    @jeffomspaugh6691 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What a disappointment in performance for the half ton diesel truck. The less expensive 3.5 EcoBoost kicks it's ass in power on less expensive fuel with a lower engine cost at purchase. I have been waiting for it to finally hit the market so I could buy one but, I think I have to keep my EcoBoost.

  • @chadsteele1

    Noting really Great here with these new smaller diesels. They tow no better fuel eco not that much better. Il stick with a gasser unless I need a big diesel for towing.

    I'm a Chevy guy but this is a very nice truck. Love the color. Are the smaller Powerstrokes made in Chihuahua Mexico like the 6.7? Could be a deal breaker.

      Yossi El for the fuel econ and if diesel is cheaper where you are. Otherwise the 3.5 EcoBoost is a very good engine.

    • @kingdaniel3519
      @kingdaniel3519 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the extra cost of the engine and the higher trim levels, it would take 20+ years of continuous ownership just to recoup the additional costs from fuel savings alone.
