Your not wrong at the end when talking about security, I cant tell you how great of a feeling it is when you have even just $2000 in savings and how much it sucks when you have nothing in savings.
I decluttered and went minimalist 18 months ago, but in my fervour to get rid of stuff, I donated most to charity. I thought that if I hesitated, the urge would leave, but so far it hasn't.
The organisation bug has now moved into our finances and last month, for the first time ever, I didn't go overdrawn in my checking account. I even managed to save!
It really is the simplest idea; to check what you are spending every day, and being mindful of what you actually do spend your money on.
I'm in my 50's, in a low paid healthcare job with little opportunity to move (ageism in employment is illegal but it's still out there...) but grabbing an extra shift and being careful really is working.

I'm just enjoying the buzz of being in credit now, saving a little and learning how to make spreadsheets. It really is addictive...
I wanted to say that as far as not having paid for anything in my place except the microwave and the coffee maker I live on less than $27.00 a day.
Great content, I add to my monthly savings by Not using my oven or cooktop! I bought an airfryer and a conduction cooktop and use those along with the microwave. My electric bill has gone down consistently $50 every month! Beware of your kitchen high hats! They use lots of electric even with using LED bulbs.

You need to change your oil exactly at 5,000 miles or once a year whatever comes first no if ands or buts use Mobil 1 oil and filter full synthetic. You never changed your oil that's why your engine gave out

I made my side hustle a casual job at my favourite pet grocer mart. It has been a lifesaver after I was laid off from my main income jobs back in January. Bonus is I get free dog food!

I just love you Nicole, been bingewatching your wise advice. Will look into focus groups. I'm on a fixed income but every month $250 go into my super emergency fund. And still manage to build up my checking for what may come up (minor surprises). AND 😘to that handsome guy in the background.
Focus groups :Bonus - there's usually at least one person who enjoys sharing their own opinion. Sometimes you find out afterwards that some attendees know each other and disagree just for the drama (!) . The companies lap that up ( & some of us just kick back..).

Switch jobs is the best. I was blown away by how much more other companies would pay for my experience . I would also add don't stay for a counter offer. If you do they will own your ass and word gets out on the street that your just fishing for $. great vid.

I set my expenses quarterly. Review it weekly so if something isn’t right I can catch it. I also give myself an allowance to spend on what ever I want. It’s only $15 a week , $780 a year. My no guilt spending.

If there's a product or service you consistently purchase, I recommend trying to get a job (part or full time) with a company that sells that thing. As an employee you'll get discounts or freebies 😮

Love you content...straight forward and to the point I completely agree with you the first 10,000 was the hardest. but after you develop a routine a low effort side hustle it doesn't take long!!!
The house is paid off . I just have $3600 a year in homeowners insurance and property tax. I don't take that out of my income. I require myself to pay the $3600 by doing overtime. Small changes add up.

Not sure if it’s available elsewhere but here in AU I have an account that ‘rounds up’ for me. I can chose the amount - to the nearest $1, $5 etc and the difference automatically goes into a savings account. So say I have round up $5 set up, and I purchase a movie ticket for $16, the extra $4 goes to the savings. I only have mine set to $1 and it’s crazy how quick it adds up.
I’ve heard of something in the US like that called Acorns.

I save 9.600k per year. My salary is low and thats all I can do per year. Hoping to invest in the future and FIRE 😻 The way I do it is by living with my parents and rarely go out or spend money on things.

Nicole I absolutely love your videos. My side hustle is rental income it is passive at this point in my life. I don't even do the repairs. I make enough on them, so they're self-sustaining. This year I paid property taxes for over a million dollars worth of property. I have a huge cash flow,it gives me opportunities never had before. Managing money correctly it's like being a good landlord. The more money that comes my way, the more I can be a good Steward and put it where it does the most good.

Ps. I loved it 'cause I've done in the past most of your recomendations! Yrs ago I selled all my night dresses, decluttering my closet, and got over $500! Now I ask myself first before buying stuff, what's the # on my list of priorities, and this have helped me keep savings up, credit card down, and no clothes or stuff unused!

Budgeting help me get 8200 on 2 months, I'll be at 13 in 2, 20k in 5-6. That'll be my emergency fund. It'll keep me good for 6m not changing anything from my normal lift of something happens.

No doubts , A good way of growing and saving your money is through investing . You don't need to have much before you can invest. "That little money you have now can make you millions if you invest it wisely". I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my second house already, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing is a grand choice I made.

Wow change jobs every 2-3 years 😳 I've been at mine 16 this year . I was able to get an extra pt remote job at night from home 15-20 hours a week at $17/hr. Its seasonal but every dollar helps. Scoring tests for educational company. :) Have a blessed day! Thanks for the info.

I learned to save money because I grew up poor and if we weren’t were careful with our money we would have starved.
I’ve never really had any issues doing marketplace meet ups. Just meet at a coffee shop nearby, or even inside the lobby of a bank if you’re nervous. Thankfully I’ve never had any real issues. Most people are safe. Just trust your gut.
Yes, I have a marketplace tip. I meet in my local TD parking lot, right next to the door, most likely cameras there. Some people I know meet in police parking lot! That keeps away the criminals! I've sold tons on Facebook marketplace, no issues. Take cash ONLY.
The biggest help for me was my kids getting jobs. Now they have to learn about personal finance and I have fewer costs related to their needs and extra-curricular activities.

Regarding the raise your rates tip for business owners I’m curious of your opinion if you weren’t a business owner. Wouldn’t you suggest to shop around when companies raise their rates? I would think that small businesses would want to keep their rates low to prevent losing customers to “box box” competitors.
For years I bought unscented soy candles from a small business. Two years ago their prices jumped from $15 for a 9oz to $25 (plus shipping). I didn’t complain to them, but I stopped buying theirs & found a better deal elsewhere. The owner reached out and asked why I don’t order any more. I was honest & said that was more than I was willing to spend on candles, especially unscented. I got a lecture about how everything is going up and how I should support small businesses.
I’m more concerned with supporting myself over overpaying & supporting someone else’s dream. I know things go up, but I feel that some companies are just gouging after the pandemic.
It definitely depends on the business and the customer base. For a consumer product where something similar can be purchased for much less at a big store, I tend to agree with you.
For a service that you gain a lot of value from, no. Most people are very comfortable and happy with the people they use to clean their house/cut their hair/walk their dog etc. and if the rates go up a bit, they’re still likely to stick around.
Same thing applies if you work with businesses to make websites/do social media or anything similar. If they get a good ROI on your services, they won’t care.
I really appreciate your comment because I think it’s a good idea to ponder overall. I personally won’t pay for more something just to “support a small business” so I think it’s important that small businesses provide a product or service that is actually superior to their larger competitors. And if they do, they’re going to find a market of customers who appreciate that and are willing/able to pay for it.
@@AccordingtoNicole You have a great point with the products vs services aspect. It is certainly much easier to find cheaper products than cheaper companies that provide the same quality of services.
I don’t have a problem paying more for a small business if the product is superior. It’s definitely not a “one size fits all” answer as you point out. Thanks for your response ✌🏼🌱
Gave most of my crap to Goodwill and a fair amount more got stolen. Im too lazy to sell so i should have comissioned you to sell it. It was tens of thousands us dollars worth of stuff.

In my country we get a lot of those pesky door to door sales people that just show up at your house randomly & completely uninvited trying to almost force you to buy something the guy literally said common please buy something & they just don't take no for a fucking answer and they don't care if you tell them you don't want to get into debt, the best solution that I have found is to lock my gate so they can't get in in the first place & besides that would be trespassing, I shouldn't even have to lock my gate, one of them convinced me to buy a PS5 on credit & the fact that he was smirking about it really pissed me off so I decided to cancel my order before it arrived at my house although I don't have a PS5 I also don't have to worry about that huge debt hanging over me now, I only wish I got to see the look on the idiots face when he found out I cancelled my order, it's like the old saying goes don't count your eggs before they hatch!
