It's called Health Advocacy but you might have to partner with a lawyer.
My first side hustle was selling Coca-Cola to construction workers out of my little red wagon at age 5. I lived on a dead end street that was being developed into a huge suburb. Sold out every day.
I pick up the mail and check on a vacation home 2x week for $50. I still get paid if they come out for the week. Just having a human on hand to check on things is valuable to the owners.
About 20 yrs ago, i met a lovely lady who's business was home handy gal/painting. Her work was mostly with older ladies. Most women, particularly if they're alone, frail, or anxious, aren't particularly keen on having a strange man in their home to do work. This gal did great word of mouth, and had many repeat customers for everything from moving/assembling furniture, carpet cleaning, simple plumbing fixes, lots of painting, and the like.
There must be a lot of disposable income in canada😂 You’d probably get a cup of tea or a beer for doing any of this stuff in the uk. We are tight as cramp!

I think the amount of disposable income varies a lot depending on the city,the cost of living in that city and the prevailing salary levels and local levels of unemployment. People may well be paying the amounts Nicole is referencing in this video in Toronto but that’s not the case in Victoria where cost of living is massively high and salaries are comparatively low, especially when considering the cost and extremely high cost of housing (compared to local salaries). For the majority, there’s not a lot of spare cash after they pay their mortgage and buy groceries. If they also have children, cost of daycare is likely sending them into overdraft. If the market is there where you are though, go for it. Wax those brows, pick up those poops and change out those tires and watch the cash roll in.

Ha! I was a poop scooper part time for a while. Not independent but the company I worked for booked all the clients, provided me an old truck and even gave me a GPS unit (pre smart phone era). I gotta tell you, when I was stringing part time jobs together for a while? That was actually one of my favorite ones! Drive around on somebody else’s dime, spend the whole day outdoors, and best of all get to meet dozens of new dogs! 😂 If I decided I needed another side gig I’d probably be more inclined for dog walking instead, but scooping yards was not terrible.
I used to resell/flip (I’d mostly buy things from thrift stores) but then I found myself holding too much inventory and before I knew it I had a whole closet full of stuff I needed to sell 😩

Anything in the pet industry (if you do not get burned out with the customer service side aka 'dealing with people' hahaha) can be lucrative. I had a very successful pet care business that had staff at one point because it kept growing. I burned out because I am not built to manage people and forgot my original reason why I started it in the first place (the pets). So if you are smart, you can make it quite lucrative AND you'll have customers who'll keep you for the life of their pets (or as long as they're living in the area). My biz lasted 20017-2020.
Cert up and and go do HVAC in attics in the summer, boom 50/hr.
I build computers when i find cheap parts. Most people dont want to go all over the place and put it all together and are happy to just pay for the whole computer. Nothing fancy, just a basic computer to do school reports and internet research on
Repairing things can also prove valuable and certainly necessary. It depends what it is. After 3 children, 2 degrees and a lockdown I found my passion for repairing, upgradinģ and upcycling clothes and sell them. I have new fabrics but what makes me the happiest is making use of what we have already, so a nice jersey stretch top that is too small I can cut up and use the fabric for cuffs for instance. I did buy the best sewing machines out there. I find it very creative and therapeutic.
Lawn mowing I can say is realy good. When my brother and I were around 11 or so years of age we got into it by chance. A local builder had done some units for a government contract. Part of it was the lawns had to be mowed for 6 weeks. As our father, who had a carying business, brought the sand and gravel for the concreting, he ask dad if we would do the lawns. We were happy to help. Dad applied and got the contract to mow the lawns from there, us boys done the work. Dad bought us a second mower. From there we had to buy fuel etc for mowers. We bit by bit ended up with 20 or more lawns. Where we lived was high rainfall, and lawns needed doing every week for a lot of the year. $1 a lawn if we used the customers mower, $2 if we used ours. On a Saturday we would go from around 8 am to 6 pm or so. Then after school some days. This is 1968 or so. Wages was around a dollar an hour for an adult. We were earning around $30 plus a week at 10 or 12 years old. More than pocket money

Providing cooked food requires various licenses and permits on the US. Could possibly hire on to cook meals in peoples' own homes, though.

I live in Poland and we have to pay taxes and have a registered company for many of jobs you were refering to. Reseling items is trackable and you can easly figure out how much you have to pay taxes. And also when you are doing it frequently you have to pay insurance and other fees. It is about minimal wage and is not depanding on how much you earn. And you have to have accountant because law is changing all the time so in order to do your thing you have to hire someone to do taxes. So tutoring is also a frequent job and minors can’t do it. Maybe you could pick up poo or petsitting from time to time,
but many people do not give cash for that. You can have a homecooked meal or recive a handshake. I know many people work in grey area and try to get paid but when it is illegal you can be reported and then have to pay taxes. Also any activity regarding meal prep have to have approved place to do it - sanitary regultions.
Same in the us
Also insurance, no one here will let you paint their home or teach swimming lessons etc without being insured and certified etc
As for selling on ebay. Ebay includes tax in every sale.
Exactly my thought. Not only do you have to have an approved place for meal prep, you also have to get yourself tested (poo test and such) on diseases on a regular basis.
Selling used stuff also has been under regulation since last year (I think anything exceeding €2000 or more than 30 items a year), at least on ebay. Otherwise you'll get reported to the IRS/tax bureau and have to prove you're not a commercial seller.
Our governments really know how to make money out of our hard work...

Power washing is one of my favorites on this list. I've gotten quotes for $350+ to have my house washed, so I just do it myself! Great video...there's a lot of money to be made out there! 🤑
Some other pet industry hustles that do not require skills or experience:
"Pet wedding attendant". Pets are now starting to become part of peoples' weddings so you can offer either to baby sit the pet, get it ready for its debut (if it's part of the ceremony in some way) and then take it home (or offer continuing dog boarding with you). As with everything in the wedding industry, it's lucrative.
I will say those who can handle a variety of dog breeds and temperaments (aka dog trainers) will benefit more or you can basically stick to certain breeds.
"Pet Taxi" - you ARE going to have to be open to taxi-ing people AND their pets. Most of the ride share apps won't allow pets to ride with people so offering a Pet Taxi service where you can allow the pet owner to ride with you (and their pet) can earn you more money than Uber, etc. Also, there are times when people need you to taxi ONLY the pet from point A to point B so it can be easy in that way too.
Recently discovered your channel. Can't believe you are so wise at your age. This video made me feel so good because I did many of what you recommend jobs when I was a financially struggling university student, house sitting, dog walking. Teaching piano. Painting rooms for someone, cutting hairs for guys ( just buzz shaving) etc. It felt like getting an A in life. I only started to flip furnitures when I turned 30 I wish I could started it earlier. It was such an easy job to do and great for the environment. Sharing your video to all the 11 niece and nephews my bf have who are complaining about their minimum job.

Oh, not! I hate hearing stories of cats who lived into their twenties. I don't enjoy owning a cat. Ours is nearly 16 and every year I hope this will be his last. I'm going to have a big party when he's finally gone. Cats live way too long, in my opinion.

I paid the neighbors kid to feed/water and clean the cat box for 2 weeks every year while we vacationed. I paid half the going boarders rate. Good, easy money for a 14 year old. No playing but pets if they wanted. One cat might want pets, but never did. No taxes for her and no cat boarding illnesses when we got home. The oldest cat hated boarding and always came back sick which meant an expensive vet $$$, visit plus boarders want a vet certificate of vaccinations and health which cost $$ The going rate is $27 a day x 14 days= $380.
I would happily pay $30/day to feed my 2 cats and 1 dog. One cat get meds (rubbed on her ears), so probably a bit more. Send that kid over!

I was quoted over $300 to unclog a kitchen sink drain. Bought a pressure washer at Home Depot + pipe cleaning attachment for less than 300. Now I have a paid for washer and attachments. haha!
Well, yes, but a licensed plumber is a thing. Before you react, if DIY works, it's great, but if that pressure blows the next weakest link in the system, you will have a filthy flood and be calling a plumber anyway. P.S. The last plumber I actually called was a super hot young guy. Luckily I maintained composure when I opened the door.

I was wondering if you'd mention dog poop scooping. For those who are laughing at her mentioning it, I had a professional pet care business from 2007 - 2020. At its height when I had multiple people working for me (before I burned out and had to restructure for my health/sanity), I had legitimately 3 regular "poop scooping" clients for that business. We'd rock up, scoop the poop (which we were doing ANYWAY because hello pet care business so it isn't like we are poop adverse) and leave. Paid.

Great ideas. You need to discuss that these side hustles need to get a business license and insurance. Anything can go wrong and everyone needs to be protected. That side hustle could cost you more and put you in trouble.

I do computer/phone/tablet repair on the side, state certified at 25 and was doing it informally for years before that! I charge $60/hr, way under competition! Sadly, since COVID, not nearly as many people contact me, but I'm still doing it every chance I get!
I think being a personal courier and/or assembling furniture sound like really good side hustles. I have known a few painters and a dog groomer and I think those were both jobs that had started as side hustles.
In the States, you must have a license to practice any form of cosmetology. It's the law.

On the part of photography, majority of the Makerspaces have photgraphy classes. One spot I went to had a professional photographer teach people how to take better pictures with your I-phone, She does it once a month, & when it is offered, It sells out really quick. 1 hour class 15 people max, $50 per person, if your a member it's $25.
The gig economy has screwed many of us, at least in America. We have to forgo healthcare, social security benefits, a living wage... and basic labor protections that have been circumvented by greedy corporations who outsource American jobs to American gig-workers. It works well for some, but for every person who makes a good living, there are probably 10 struggling just to pay the rent. I know some Doordash drivers that literally live in vans in McDonald's parking lots. But as they say, "your mileage may vary". Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your channel. I find it very helpful in navigating the new reality of trying to survive post-employment. Just understand that though you rail against corporate culture, "the gig economy" is the ultimate corporate wet dream. ☮💙

Hey guys Becareful with the trying to learn how to dog groom by yourself. Most people who do try and groom their own dog themselves, and have cut their dog and had to bring them to the hospital.
In some states (I live in CA), it is required by law to have a license and to have the state come out to inspect your work area for cosmetology service. Even if you do this at home.

I get something out of techy stuff. As a hustle/work it became "do it for free" in the end around some idiots, but it can become something similar in a better place/better customers. Selling items (put together and configured) is also on my list. It's a bit risky, but some clever items could work for eBay or similar.
I teach the Canadian Firearms Safety Courses (for people who want to get their license). With 10 students, I can easily gross $4000 in a weekend. I have more demand than I have capacity to deliver courses.
I like that arbitrage idea, and I'm doing it too. But our local second-hand market is very efficient. Everyone buying knows exactly how much something costs ;)

It's an old Canadian expression, typically found in southern Ontario. Not very commonly used, though.
I believe in most, if not all, states you have to have a license to do any cosmetology services. You also have to get the proper permits, etc to do it out of your home. Be careful with that one y’all!
A lot of these seem to be more common in America. In Europe, house sitting or pet sitting at someone's house etc is like an invite for people to steal things. Nobody trusts each other. I'd even love for someone to call down to check on my pet while I'm gone, but there's no way I'm gonna be leaving keys to my place with a stranger.
I find this is more of a Central/Eastern Europe problem. I'm from Hungary now living in the UK. Here, I used cat sitter services and I let my letting agent arrange for repairs and they send the engineers/tradesman into my home while I'm at work. I enjoy this freedom and trust! Would I do this at home? Not in a million years, I'd be worried sick if I still have anything left in my flat.
@@evabognar9167 I'm from Ireland so only across the water from you. Sending engineers, electricians etc to fix things either through agency or landlord is a common thing, yes. Although they always ask first if someone will be home or if they have a permission to enter the property in your absence. With regards to pet sitters, I haven't come across any such thing. Dog walkers yes. Minding a pet at someone's house, no. And I would love one when I had a bunny as travelling with her every time was rather stressful for both of us. Unless there is something here and I'm not aware of it.

I used to have a catsitter who came to my flat once or twice to take care of my cat. She was adopted and I didn't want to take her to a cattery because I didn't want her to think I'm abandoning her. One visit included feeding, water, litter tray clean and playtime. When she was sick, medication also. It seems to me it's quite common here (some charge more, some less). The guy who used to come to me also had a service "stocking up your fridge before you get home" for a fiver plus whatever you out on your shopping list. Some take care of cats and smaller animals like guinea-pig, hamster, etc. May be worth checking in your area (I literally googled catsitter back then) and you may find some! Or you can start a small one if you like.
Where I live it's poverty central USA. Nobody will pay anybody $50 for anything.
