I read in the manual that theres 4 lid simulator settings. But the manual also says "opening or closing the lid doesnt affect the LID SIMULATOR setting". I'm confused now. Some demos show opening the lid changing the sound. But in this video the lid is partially open and the player is pressing some buttons to change the lid simulator settings. So does that mean you can either use the buttons, or physically open the lid to change the sound?

There is sensor connected to the lid, so I assume it electronically activates the effect when the lid is lifted. I think that most of the 'effects' can be activated by different methods, e.g. 'Grand piano' functions can either be activated directly by push button on the console but also via 'Function' button and pressing appropriate piano keys. I believe the only benefit of lifting the lid is to allow the smaller speakers hidden under there to be heard more clearly. I have to say that I do not find the Instruction Manual very straight forward and even after owning a PX860 for a couple of months find am still having to pour through its pages to activate a particular feature. We could do with a video precisely demonstrating the activation of all of PX 860 extensive features.

The lifting of the lid affects the actual sound waves (lid closed, only hear sound from the back of the piano; lid open, sound is directed at the player.) The buttons will change the digital processor to alter the sound coming out of the speakers. I agree, though, that running the manual through Google Translate then printing it leaves something to be desired in understanding the new technology, considering Casio has some innovations in this model not found in comparable models from the competition.

I bought a new Privia, in Sept of 2016. I hate it. Don't make the same mistake

The keys are too hard to play...there's just a slight delay in between pressing the note and hearing the sound.
the sounds and rhythms are sooo childish...
My 11000 rupee casio sounds the same except some new piano tones and hammer keys
