Glad we sold ours, it sat in the shop most of the time I owned it. I love these engines when they work right, but we bought something older and more reliable.

Wish you were my mechanic. You would treat my baby right, and make her the best she can be. Just as an FYI, I bought the 36mm socket on your affiliate link and I'm going to be changing my fuel filter this weekend. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

hey, your channel is awesome, i have a 21 lm2 lt model. my truck is mostly used for work. i am wanting to put in a second battery to help run a 4k inverter. If are looking for upgrade ideas, i would definitely like to see you do it first.

I couldn’t keep oil in my 2023 Tahoe with the LM2. It would go through a quart every 750 miles while never leaking a drop. Now I’m driving a 2024 with the LM2. It has 4,000 miles on it and it has never used a drop. I couldn’t tell you what the engine number was on the ‘23.

I’ve got a 2022 refresh with the LM2 and it burns a quart of oil every 1500 miles. The cam cover serial number is over the one provided on the TSB. Guess that means I have the new cover. Took it in to the dealer they confirmed and asked GM about the oil consumption. GM says that since all my miles are highway miles it is considered “high speed” and must burn more than 1 quart of oil in 1000miles to be a concern. I drive around 100 miles per day. All highway and unloaded. I find it interesting there are owners with zero or close to zero consumption and others where they will exhaust their oil supply within the oil change/service window. Is there anyone else on here that has a LM2 with the new cover and still have consumption issues?

I have a 2020 with NO oil consumption or hard start problems... Should I check my ser # and replace it with the new cam cover if its numbers say its its a bad one??

I would leave well enough alone. If you need to go in there for repair at all, that would be a good time to do it. it's a big job.

What differences are there with the updated cam cover that help with oil consumption? Is it related to a PCV type issue?

    • @chriswilliams4316
      @chriswilliams4316 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

From what I’ve seen there’s a bad weld in the cam cover of some of the older ones that causes the engine to burn oil. A lot of guys are having the number 2 glow plug go bad as a result of this issue.

    • @DemonWorks

Chris' reply is accurate on the issue.

Ah interesting, thanks. Sounds like a known fix so hopefully those with the LM2 take advantage and keep their rigs in good working order.

Off topic, but have you heard anything about PPE's new airbox? It looks like a direct replacement for the factory, just in carbon fiber. Wasn't sure if I was missing something or not.

Asked the dealer twice to check my 2020 lm2 and first they outright refused, second time i handed them the printed bulletin and got a call saying the tech has never seen this as an issue and to not worry. Needless to say I’m not happy with champion Chevrolet in reno,nv
Already had glow plug 2 replaced and just went in for 3 &5

My brothers truck has the oil consumption issue, but since his truck doesn't have any codes, the dealer won't even look at it, and it's almost out of warranty. His is using about a quart every 800 miles.

      That’s the game!
And with lemon law it only counts if they diagnose something….. played that game for 36,000 miles…. GM finally made it right basically gave me a new truck and in 2600 miles the turbo went out…. After they fixed it I went to a 2024 ram 2500….

Follow Demon works or Spicer designs videos for inspection tips, once you determine it falls into the bulletin peremiters.... bring that info to your dealer...if they still won't help, find a different dealer... not every dealer is the same

    • @DemonWorks

No, you need to have an actual oil consumption issue. This video shows how to check if you have a camshaft cover that “could” be causing the issue.

I purchased my new 2020 in December of that year on the Employee discount deal... Right before Covid hit hard it was a great deal..
People ask me how I like it and I tell them its the best engine/truck I have ever had.. No oil use, no hard start, great mileage and the 10 speed trans shifts like it was made for it..
