  • Synfig Studio is a free 2D vector animation program. In my previous tutorial I covered how to use the basic controls of the program to create a simple character and a simple gif. In this tutorial I will focus on how to use advanced drawing tools to created more complicated character art and models.

    Hello I am so grateful for you and your work! However, I would like to note the video image seems to pause and get blurry at points making it really hard to see what is being selected and from where.. I would also recommend going a lot slower - if you can stand it.. lol I had to put the playback to .5 to follow along. LOL

    Might I add that for shadows, you can also use the shadow layer or the bevel layer in the stylize category

    Thank you very much for the tutorial! I would recommend a tutorial about how to link an object to a Spline for the creation of more complexe movements.

      I'm afraid I don't entirely understand your request, are you asking for a way to have an object follow a path set by a spline, or how to link splines together to make a bone structure?

    Is Synfig good for tweening?
    I've been looking for an alternative to Adobe Animate

      I believe that Synfig's tweening is great. I get a lot of compliments on how smooth my work is, and Synfig takes care of most of it. There are also multiple settings for either constant tweening or easing in and out

      I apologize for not understanding your question, are you asking me how to import the blue synfig logo that I have in my thumbnail? Or having problems with locating the files to import in your computer?

      I will be making more tutorials. Part 4 is currently in progress. I'm hoping to have it out in another week or so. I've been having to work a lot of overtime at work, so the videos are taking longer than usual.

      By flight animation, do you mean a perspective of the land moving from an airplane's perspective? Or do you mean an animal's flight animation

      @@lawlietedit Yes, it is possible to make a stickman fight animation using Synfig. It is one of the topics I plan on doing a tutorial about because you are not the first person to ask. I think I'll probably be able to create that tutorial around the middle of November, I will reply to this comment when it is done.

      I call them layers, because "layers" is the language that the program and wiki use.

    Great tutorial, except it is to fast, your flying through the processes and it is hard to follow!
