Inkscape Mini Tutorial - Creating a Stickman Run Animation

- This mini video tutorial from 2Dgameartguru.com uses the easy-to-pose stickman from an earlier video to create a run animation in Inkscape v1.3.
Inkscape is not an animation software but you can create animation frames [as well as parts for skeletal animations] with it. In this video, I will animate the stickman using onion skinning and keyframes before adding in-betweens for a more fluid run animation.
I use the Batch Export and Selections. Selecting the layers and a background rectangle to get frames with the same dimensions.
I used ezgif for my gif animations:

It's extraordinary how simple you present the basic technique to create an animation in inkscape.
Very interesting!
Thanks again. 🖖
You're very welcome! It's usually easy and simple - we just tend to complicate things ;)
Awesome! Thanks for showing this was possible
I am glad you enjoyed it!
very awesome i am gonna try animating like this in dragonbones
Good luck! The process in skeletal based animation tools is slightly different. It's been a while since I looked at Dragonbones but usually you work with 'cut-out' [separate limbs and body parts] held together by the skeleton that you animate later. These parts overlap at the joints and unless you use a lot of parts a smooth bend [as you could achieve with vector lines] is not that easy to accomplish.
Very impressive !
I know this is not possible, but it would be cool if you could just do the keyframes and get the in between poses with an interpolation.
Thanks... and that's an interesting thought for a very different approach... I will play with the idea. ;)
Very impressive. You have such great ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! 😊You are welcome!
Wow so it's possible. I didn't even know that. Thanks a lot.
You are welcome!
Thanks a lot for making it :)
My pleasure 😊 It was good fun...
Wow amazing
Glad you liked it.

too much fun even to just watch.
I am glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks, Johnathon... but no thanks. I do this for fun and without AI or cheats.
Great
could you do more animation tutorial with inscape ?
like this eyes and mouth animation th-cam.com/video/9ZLT7i4BDcM/w-d-xo.html
Sounds like a fun idea... I will add it to the list. At the moment things are going a little slow [due to ongoing health issues but I hope to pick up speed and energy again soon].
@@2dgameartguru Hope you will get well soon
I gave it a quick try... is this the style you are after?
