  • Animating a lip sync in Synfig is easy using the free program, Papagayo. (It's just a little time consuming). This video will teach you how to do lip syncing in Papagayo and import it into Synfig Studio.
    Programs I used:
    Audacity: www.audacityteam.org/

    These tutorials are really very, very, very good. Clear, concise and with lots of extremely useful information packed in. Keep 'em coming, you're doing a great job :-)

    Way above my current knowledge of Synfig, but absolutely fascinating. I love these tutorials as they absolutely inspire me!

    Your tutorials are wonderful! Keep 'em coming. I would love to see one on using Synfig's deformers with vector graphics. Synfig has one on their TH-cam channel but it is just a sped up music video and lacks explanation. You manage to provide clear and concise information in such a way that following your tutorials are a very efficient use of the learner's time. Thank you so much!

      Thank you! I will add that topic to my list of video ideas. I've watched a couple of Synfig's videos and they appear to be more for highlighting features of Synfig, less of an actual tutorial. I also struggle to understand what they're trying to non-verbally demonstrate and I've been using the program for 5 years.

    Great . To make video file from Open shot what size and proportion you keep to give best results for each frame?

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer to have my canvas size to be 1280x720 in synfig, and I render at 720p in Openshot. However because Synfig is a vector program, it really doesn't matter what ratio you keep your canvas at, as long as you keep a ratio of 16:9.

    Thank you so much. I watched all of his videos and it helped me a lot. Quick question, how can I save my animations as a hd quality video( not gif)(not 240p). I'm about to freak out because I haven't found any information about it anywhere. I would be very happy if you could help me.

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, I know I already answered this for you in my Twitter DMs, but I'm answering it again here, in case anyone else has the same question:
      The way I do it is set my canvas as big as I want it to be, then render the animation as a series of pngs, and then I use a video editor to compile all the images together. Then I use the video editor to set the quality as high or low as I want it. I use "OpenShot Video Editor", because its free. In my next video, I'll demonstrate step by step how to take an animation from Synfig to TH-cam video

    absolutely outstanding. thanks for your works. can you make a detailed tutorial on how to animate involving multiple speakers? and also, how do you control the timing of the mouth movement? the lip starts to move from the beginning of the animation although you may want the character to actually speak later.

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can add a more advanced lip sync tutorial to my list, thank you for your suggestion.
      To answer your timing question:
      If you select the imported yellow folder, you can change the "offset" in the bottom left properties panel in order the change the timing. This changes when the lip movements start.

    Awesome tut but how do u get the speech to come in AFTER the bee flies in

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are two ways to do it. The first way is to record the dialogue with some blank space in front of the speech. The second way is to select the yellow papagayo folder in your layers panel, then in the properties menu in the bottom left, change the "time offset" to alter the start of the speech. I hope that helps.

    Is there any way you can set it up on Linux?

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are asking me if the program is available on Linux: there is a download available for Papagayo that runs on Linux, it can be found on the Papagayo website linked in the description. It is a slightly older version, but the instructions in the tutorial on are close enough to be helpful.
      If you're asking me to demonstrate the linux version, I can't do that. I only have access to Mac and Windows. My apologies

    • @turtlearmyjess6147
      @turtlearmyjess6147  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you made the shape, did you create the region and outline at the same time? If you made them separately, the layers would not be linked. Are you problems happening with animate mode on or off?
