I literally bought one a few months ago, lol. I was planning on getting the GWG-2000, but ended up finding issues with the design itself. The newer one is definitely better than its predecessor, but the OG Mudmaster is still the king.
Same here, also find it pointless to have a watch that has features beyond it. The beauty of a true rugged watch is it’s autonomy. Yes, I understand that you don’t have to use the BT but it’s just another piece that will break. Thanks for the review, you’re my Mudmaster master. 😂
I have several Mudmaster but the GWG1000 is the best in my opinion especially if you use it as intended as an outdoor watch. You can swap the bands and bezel and it looks new again. The 2k and this one if the metal is scratched and has dents that’s it. For me those are fashion Mudmasters
It’s not about making it look new again, I use my mudmaster as intended, rucking, trails, canyoning and more. I m on my 3rd band and 2nd bezel. U can’t do this to the 2k that I also own. It’s like having a protective case on it like on a phone. You don’t feel bad using it as intended. Because the critical parts are replaceable
I also like the gwg1000 better. I have 8 of them. And 2x the gwg 2000. Love the gwg 1000 way more. The newer the g-shocks are, the cheaper they are built. Same for the gwf d1000. Check out how the bands are mounted. Big 5mm bar with bolts and loctide in the titanium bezel, carbon band also have the analoge frogman. Which is built like a Chinese toy compart to the gwf d1000. The older the better! I
@cnnlt200 Along with the OG Mudmaster, I also have the GWF-D1000 Frogman. The build quality on those is quite possibly the best I've ever seen from G-Shock. That being said, I really like the design of the analogue Frogman, except the carbon monocoque case, as it should have been DLC stainless steel.
Thanks for making another great watch review video! Very informative and insightful as always. I love my g-shocks and have too many. But for backpacking, I use the the Garmin Instinct Solar. With a MIP display, it's often confused for a G-Shock, but is a much better option for navigating the backcountry. A DW5610 comes along as backup.
You are absolutely correct. While I have both watches the 2000 has an easier to read lcd because it's bigger. What's also odd is the 2000 seems to fit better on my wrist than this model shown. However, I have many watches and I'm thinking about picking up this red model even though I already have the black model. I just love these watches they are like a drug to me😅
GGB100 is still my top pick. Literally has all those functions but better executed. App based watches don't need MB6 so ehh. Tough solar is the only real loss but I paid 190 dollars for my mudmaster and it does all the same stuff. The timer for the ggb100 is up to 24hr and the gwg 1000 is just 60min is one example. Ggb100 has something like 300 city world time too. I don't get why ppl sleep on it. It's damn near the same watch...yes no TS but who cares at that price point
I bought this watch because of navigation thinking I wouldn't need a phone. Some people are spreading false information on this watch including Casio itself(official ad). A really gorgeous watch though. Thinking of selling it.
For me, the GWG-1000 is still the undisputed king of all Mudmasters. These newer ones keep adding and improving upon certain features, but it really doesn't feel that significant enough to count as an upgrade. I still prefer the overall design and robustness of the original version, because the dial really stands out. However, I do prefer this one over the GWG-2000, as the crystal doesn't stick out anymore and it doesn't look too flashy.
The “OG” GWG-1000 is more than enough and I particularly like the fact that it’s NOT connected. I’m with you, not worth getting this “B1000” if you have either of the two previous versions. That said however, as I see the images from your review, it looks really good and I would still be tempted to get one for myself. Thanks for sharing!
You forgot to mention that this Mudmaster's compass has an automatic horizontal, magnetic declination and orientation correction function. This is a very useful feature, that Casio first implemented in the Gulfmaster GWN-Q1000 and Frogman GWF-D1000B. I didn't understand why Casio hadn't implemented this functionality in the Mudmaster GWG-1000 and GWG-2000.
I agree with you about the Gulfmaster. I have the mudmaster1, rangeman, Frogman anal, gravitymaster and others less expensive . But the Gulfmaster is the best Gshock I ever had. Most beautiful, functional, intuitive (I work as a marine pilot). Hugs from Brazil
I tried one on today and it looks nice but not worth changing from the GWG-2000. I prefer the 3-6-9-12 on the dial of the 2000, and the forged carbon look vs. chunky metal.
It looks really cool, and that colorway is my favorite. I've always loved the rugged look of Mudmasters, but I think it would look ridiculously large on my 6.5" wrist.
Don't let that stop you. This watch comes with me to work everyday because I know it is rugged. My wrist is smaller but it looks fine and I love wearing it.
Thank you, that was really helpful! I got my GWG2000 few months back on a discount and thought maybe i rushed n should have gotten the newer GWGB1000 but with ur review i think i can live without the extra functions in the new gwgb1000.. thanks man
Personally, i really like the look of that new mudmaster. Would be up with my favorites, however still doesnt have all the features i look for in a outdoors/tactical watch.
Thx for the review. I still have my GWG-1000 from the release year, which does still look better than the GWG-2000 and the new GWG-B1000 imho. But OK, the newest version does look more premium. Not upgrading though. And I don't need the functionality, since I use a Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire Solar for cycling and hiking, which has so incredibly much features.
I have had the same watch same colour for a few weeks now all the functions are working correctly after an update on the casio app the problem was with the atomic time keeping not tuning in at night I also have the ggb100 which I find not has heavy on the wrist but I do get rang Anxiety with it being not solar powered especially when using all the features 😊
Love my gwg1000. Had a watch with bluetooth. Really not for me. I use the Radio Wave app to sync all my MB6 watches all at once. Really cool when they tick in sync.
@traviswalker8933 yea I could see that, I have both and the mb6 watches stay in my front room, seem to get the signal 12:03 or 12:04 every morning, but the Bluetooth makes it easier to set alarms , change timers , just gemeral watch settings, it definitely is convenient, I hope they improve their app though
@@davidzimmerly7354 I have used the G-Shock connected app only so I cannot comment on the new Casio watches app. The last Bluetooth model I had, the GG-B100, sadly had to go as I had to make room for a phone purchase after I lost my previous phone.

I used to have a gwg 1000, trade in for the gsg 100 small solar mudmaster without any crown to bother with and protrack 650y with uv back light. The GWGB-1000 looks better, but the dial is so busy that I am not sure if my old eyes can read the time quickly. What would you say? The navigation feature is useless on both models. Ok finding back to the car might be a use, but for hiking it is without any use. Waiting for your next video!
GG B 100 all the way,! I’ve got the murdered out carbon one, so sick, kinda wish it was solar but I’ll enjoy changing the battery when the time comes so I can lube everything
Love it. Do wish the digital was positive display but that's fine. The real issue is the price. 800.00 is to much for a quarts imho. At that price point i would rather spend the money on a mechanical.
You're not paying for the movement, even though a radio controlled solar Quartz movement is so much accurate and practical than any automatic movement. You're paying for the features, durability and overall reliability of a Mudmaster. No automatic watch at the same price competes with this. But having said that I would never pay full price, because there are always discounts and sales available.
I like the look of all three. I have the GWG-1000. I really like the look but it is a huge watch and at times I feel a little Flav o Flav when I have it on and it does not wear as comfortable as my Rangeman 9400 or my Frogman which are my two next biggest Gshocks. I don't want a watch with Bluetooth connectivity so it really offers nothing new for me. I think my one Mudmaster is maybe one too many already, I have a ProTrek PRW-60T that is more comfortable to wear and has basically the same functions as my Mudmaster.
Such a beautiful watch it’s prob my next purchase h shocks are always such great design pieces but too complicated and useless as far as features to me
But presumably it's able to recall previously stored compass headings (like the old Rangeman) so finding the point you set off from should still be possible without using GPS via your phone?
I still like my GWG-1000 for the ultimate SHTF situation watch. I realise that means I lose connectivity with my phone. But there are much better smartwatches to do that.
In my opinion, Casio must start putting GPS and Bluetooth modules in every high end models with such low power consumption techs having become mainstream now. For example, take Garmin that's what they started doing with pretty much all watches!! I understand 10 years ago GPS or Bluetooth techs and chipsets were not power efficient but they are now
I don't know.... compared to this one, my GWG 1000 looks like a war machine, to me this thing looks just like a fashion thing. Without the phone that's a GWG 1000 with a fancy bezel, which could be extremely painful for a wallet to replace if it's damaged. Also, a price tag is giving a headache, very unpleasant. This watch is just the unwanted patch, a modern time toy. It's hard to beat the King (GWG1000) Like
Something about a gshock that can be tracked has never appealed to me. My first segernt drilled that into us on my second deployment that anything that has Bluetooth connectivity can be tracked
Gimmicky & overstepping on the gravity master line. Just get either gpw2000 or gpw1000 which is my next step. I already have gwg1000, gwn1000, gw9400. Only master of g remaining is gravity. But I do own the grb200 😅 just wanna catch'em all
guys any idea where i can find casio ghocks part for replacement? parts like dial, hands.. not straps.. if anyone knows pls reply this comment with a link. thanks
hmmmm the phone part has put me off using this for tactical. phone gets damaged i lose majority of compos data and loseing mission data is not a option both are key even tho id be useing a hand map still and hand notes but would have been nice to not need but have them optional
Another g shock that would only fit a sasquatch wrist.... Im still waiting for casio to release a watch with all those bells and whistles like barometer, compass etc. and sapphire crystal in an actual wearable size like 43 or 44 mm....
Casio released watches with sensors and smaller case in the pro trek series. My wife bought me the protrek prw-6900y with the green strap and dial with the gold accents. Solar, tough movement, the functionality is the same as on my older gwg-1000-1a3er mudmaster, for half the price. But there is no sapphire glass, and only 100m water resistance. But I like the design. I don't know the exact dimensions but it's more compact than the mudmaster
It needs a bigger better readable digital screen for me....and a flash LED lamp/torch would be so handy... No trackback in the watch?.... Garmin is so much better at this stuff..
My other mud masters are gorgeous but way way way too complicated and rather useless and the buttons always press too easily by accident though I do love them for their looks. If you want a truly useful rugged and practical g shock the only real choice is a the Frogman imo that is a true battle tank these are gorgeous pieces of design but not nearly as ruggedly useful day to day and simple
I’m actually disappointed with the new mudmaster I really thought they would integrate some decent upgrades to the compass, illumination, body materials like titanium for example, altimeter, etc…at the end of the day it’s a survival watch if you have your phone just use that instead 🤦🏼♂️ A huge negative is the addition of new dials that are taking up valuable space for solar energy production not a smart move in my opinion.
I think this mudmasters cost way to much. With this price you can get something like garmin fenix 7x or epix that will do hundreds of times more and will actually navigate without phone. Im have epix and tactix 7 pro and they are incredible. Love this casio looks, but way to expensive imo for what you get.
I’d buy it instantly as every day watch (home/office/chillout) if it would feature phone notifications while for hikes and sport I’d use GPR-H1000. Quite pity but I’m now too used to notifications on wrist and comfort of having my phone in silent mode all the time.
Bluetooth is essential for me - I have OCD when it comes to accuracy. I stopped wearing my IWC because it runs 2 secs fast per day - really acceptable - but terrible when you are working from home and have to escape for 1 minute between virtual meetings to grab coffee. That is when you are away from your phone and computer and you NEED TO KNOW how many exact additional seconds you have to finish brewing that incredible espresso. That is when you need a watch PERFECTLY in sync with your computer watch. Since I HATE HAVING TO CHARGE A WATCH EVERYDAY, I also ditched my apple watch. I also can’t cope with any type of glass that is not sapphire. Plus I only wear 1 watch, no matter the occasion - so the piece has to be fairly flexible with casual and acceptable social style. Bottom line: utter happiness from my GWG B1000-1A. It is the perfect watch for me.
Those people who say "omg this watch can save my life" perhaps dont know that cheaper versions of watches with proper gps exist, garmin, suunto, coros, amazfit and shitload more. let g shocks what it do the best, be the beater. Not much point to expect more "features" from them. As the population who use them dont want them.
I have GWG-B1000EC-1ER and I also have GWG-2000-1ER... GWG-B1000 may have a better design and some features but it is much smaller and I don't like that, such a watch should and must look robust and big like its older brothers GWG 1000 and the GWG 2000...I think with the GWG-B1000 G-SHOCK lost credibility because of that, at least for me...I wear the GWG-2000 all the time, while the GWG-B1000 is in the box...pay attention to the size; GWG-1000=L, GWG-2000=M, GWG-B1000=S...
I don’t think the 1000 looks like a “plastic toy”, either by itself or in comparison to anything else. It’s a nice watch, and there’s really no reason for you to dis it.
I think Casio are losing focus…The original mudmaster was tough, burly, durable, designed for rugged work, you wore one to kick arse and knew that it would survive. This new one is flashy, for someone who uses hair wax, and enjoys glamping…
IMHO this model is fantastic. And reviews from users confirm that. I have orig 2015 1K, also the later one 2K, and for collection I am planning to buy this B1K also.
In the community, we treat this as G-Shock btw. I call Casio my daughters calculator. Anyway, at the end I got black and burgundy model. And I am very satisfied. I am not sure why this DLC coating and ion plated bezel would not be as strong for someone like the previous plastic..? 🙂 The watch has quite premium look and feel and step higher like ~MTG etc.. Zero afraid here.

I still like my GWG-1000 for the ultimate SHTF situation watch. I realise that means I lose connectivity with my phone. But there are much better smartwatches to do that.
I assume the thermometer still only gives an accurate reading when you leave it off your wrist for 30 minutes?
In my opinion, Casio must start putting GPS and Bluetooth modules in every high end models with such low power consumption techs having become mainstream now. For example, take Garmin that's what they started doing with pretty much all watches!! I understand 10 years ago GPS or Bluetooth techs and chipsets were not power efficient but they are now
I think there's going to be a new GPS Rangeman coming soon.
It's hard to beat the King (GWG1000)

Great! Now I have to try and come up with an exuse to try and explain to my wife why I need a third mudmaster😂
Just say this one has Bluetooth. 😂
Gulfmaster has a quad sensor and a full metal crown, but yeah, the overall design looks bloated.
The GWG-1000 has the best design, imo.
Does anyone know if this model will come out with new color ways? Missing the tan band some of the other mudmasters had with it
Something about a gshock that can be tracked has never appealed to me. My first segernt drilled that into us on my second deployment that anything that has Bluetooth connectivity can be tracked
I guess it's solid advice to always be aware of your electronic tracks, especially when deployed, but your sergent was wrong about BT.
How can it be tracked if Bluetooth connectivity is switched off?
I was also questioning myself if this watch is fine while being deployed. Still pondering about it.
Gimmicky & overstepping on the gravity master line. Just get either gpw2000 or gpw1000 which is my next step. I already have gwg1000, gwn1000, gw9400. Only master of g remaining is gravity. But I do own the grb200 😅 just wanna catch'em all
Too bulky.
GWR-B1000 will do.
72 grammes of premium lightness..😀
Ggb100 is the best version step counter and compass remember 2000 steps to a mile on average
Am I right in saying the right dial has no function when not connected to a phone? I can't even figure out what the left dial is about.
@@Pumpkin-King but the direction needle... It does nothing without a cell phone connection?
Big boy. But tough tough tough watch.
I want that watch so bad but I can't afford it😢
Same bro😭👍
Too Bad!!!
In my watch, barometer graph not displayed,, how can enable?
guys any idea where i can find casio ghocks part for replacement? parts like dial, hands.. not straps.. if anyone knows pls reply this comment with a link. thanks
It really does look enormous, I too have a small wrist medium size hands so I was going to consider buying one not sure now thank you for your video!
Will you be doing a user guide for this my friend?
so i am looking oto get my first g shock - should i buy this one or go with GWG 1000 or Rangeman
This.
most of g shock lights are always failure...
hmmmm the phone part has put me off using this for tactical. phone gets damaged i lose majority of compos data and loseing mission data is not a option both are key even tho id be useing a hand map still and hand notes but would have been nice to not need but have them optional
So are you saying that the GWG2000 wears better on a smaller wrist than this watch?
Thank you for your review - can I ask how big is your wrist?
Pretty small at 6,5"
Thx, very informative video.⌚🧭💯 Well done.😄👍👌✌👏👏💪💪
When you save your location the watch can you track back...thats not a problem.
Price 🔥
I don’t get it. If it’s water proof (200m) obviously it’s mud proof… right?!
Mud could still jam pushers even if it doesn’t get inside the watch. Thats why Mudmaster😅
Just got this today for a great price!
"caught in heavy rain"... Except the instructions say not to press the buttons in water
Yeah, they are playing it safe, trust me you can press these buttons UNDERWATER let alone in rain
UNDERwater.
@@WatchGeek fair enough but... How do you know?
Does that model allow you to display temp in Fahrenheit?
Yeah, check the manual.
How is using a CROWN "tiresome"??
It's a screw down crown.
🔥
You're right bro, you do have OCD! 😂
The GPS Rangeman is probably the only G-Shock that can do this.
Did you say you never have to change the battery???
He said 'charge' .....it's solar powered so you never have to 'plug it in'
I found one literally the other day, just left alone in the grass. So, free makes it better
What is your wrist size?
i still prefer the gwg 1000
I have GWG-B1000EC-1ER and I also have GWG-2000-1ER... GWG-B1000 may have a better design and some features but it is much smaller and I don't like that, such a watch should and must look robust and big like its older brothers GWG 1000 and the GWG 2000...I think with the GWG-B1000 G-SHOCK lost credibility because of that, at least for me...I wear the GWG-2000 all the time, while the GWG-B1000 is in the box...pay attention to the size; GWG-1000=L, GWG-2000=M, GWG-B1000=S...
You're saying this watch, the GWG-B1000 is small? It's almost 59mm lug to lug!
So Casio still making mud-resistant G-Shocks today?
Any plan on reviewing the GW9500 Mudman? I really want to hear your opinion on the watch.
It's much better than the GW-9400 in terms of build quality, but the display has legibility issues.
I don’t think the 1000 looks like a “plastic toy”, either by itself or in comparison to anything else. It’s a nice watch, and there’s really no reason for you to dis it.
Do you think Casio will bring out a predecessor Master of G to the GPW 2000 GPS watch?
I think Casio are losing focus…The original mudmaster was tough, burly, durable, designed for rugged work, you wore one to kick arse and knew that it would survive. This new one is flashy, for someone who uses hair wax, and enjoys glamping…
I still prefer this one to the GWG-2000 tbh, but of course nothing tops the OG Mudmaster.
I have the original in 'like new' condition. I don't wear it too often but love it when I do. Recently bought the Mrg-b2000r-1adr which is amazing!
IMHO this model is fantastic. And reviews from users confirm that. I have orig 2015 1K, also the later one 2K, and for collection I am planning to buy this B1K also.
So agree. I am much more to the previous model
In the community, we treat this as G-Shock btw. I call Casio my daughters calculator.
Anyway, at the end I got black and burgundy model.
And I am very satisfied.
I am not sure why this DLC coating and ion plated bezel would not be as strong for someone like the previous plastic..? 🙂
The watch has quite premium look and feel and step higher like ~MTG etc..
Zero afraid here.
