Ohhh yeahhh... The 9300 Mudman is an absolute CLASSIC! I'm a former US Army paratrooper & the 9300 was my go-to "jump watch". I used the compass to orient myself and get my face into the wind after exiting the aircraft. Also, as an avid scuba diver, I used this badboy to not only track water temperature, but for underwater navigation as well. I ended up gifting the watch to a mate of mine as he was preparing to deploy overseas. Both he and the watch came home safely.
Hi Brian can you tell me how accurate was the compass?..i want to buy 9300 but i wanted to know if the compass is accurate. because i like more 9300 than 9400 i don't need alti and baro just compas
@@kenshi3versthe compass is pretty good (you can also account for magnetic declination). But if you were needing pinpoint accuracy (ie: doing military land navigation), I'd recommend a traditional lensatic compass & use your watch as a backup.
Absolutely agree with you. Between charging tablets, computers phones watches I just had enough. Sold my Samsung ultra watch to buy a g shock solar powered
I could even be happy with a watch with step function, heart sensor etc, just please, make it work without a dang phone connection like the old designs do. They’re timeless because of it! The less smart connectivity features the better, just give us watches with independent features that work and need no updates! Just the occasional battery or less occasional tough solar cell changes would be lovely
@@CaptainScorpio24 It's quicker and less frustrating to just set the time manually. Instead of downloading a stupid app, being forced to log in with an account, then it doesn't let you use the app because it "needs" and update so you wait for it to update, then you open the app log in and activate bluetooth on the watch, forget you don't have bluetooth enabled on your phone so you go into the settings and enable it, then you connect the watch to your phone and the time is set. Or have it done in 30 seconds manually without having to deal with all that crap
Since I've started collecting I've noticed there are 2 rules to GShock 1. Don't buy anything with white or clear straps. 2. Don't get a negative display. 😂
I bought three G's last year. A Frogman DWF, a GG -B Mudmaster and a Rangeman GW9400. I love them to bits and prefer the "traditional" displays as I do actual real world rough and tumble work on a daily basis.
The most legible negative displays (apart from MIP) are on my DW5600BB and DW5600NN, really clear and visible. My M56-1OU and GW-7900 negative displays are a nightmare to read. Anyone know why this should be?
Isn‘t the G9000 negative display equally horrible? I once bought the GW-M5610 with negative display and had to send it back because I couldn‘t read the time…
I don’t own a mudman, but I do have several G Shocks, including a “first” mudman DW5500. I’m thinking about making a G9000 my next purchase, and I agree that with recent G Shocks, a newer model isn’t necessarily better than an older one!!
Hey I wanted to ask you if you can help me, I have the (Casio G-9000-8 Stormtrooper Mudman) and I’m searching a replacement part the case she’ll. I’m leaving in Greece is there a chance you can point me to a website to help me to find it? It was my grandfather watch and I will like to replace the case to start using it as well. Thank you in advance
There is a negative display ProTrek i have the black and green band one. PRW-3510Y-8CR. But the negative display is an STN display and i can read it at sharp angles. With a rotating compass bezel, its definitely one of my favorite Casios, and its almost exactly the same as the New mudman, without the shock resist of course
I think you summed this one up perfectly Russ. Certainly I prefer the G9000 but I can't justify yet another G-Shock just yet although I've said that many times before getting another G-Shock. I have to agree that the tiny flaw is the inability to actually tell the time on it with the negative display. Maybe it's worth a look at the positive version if Casio release new colours for it. The nearest watch that I have to the Mudman is the old old Mudmaster GWG-1000 that is a big watch and quite heavy but wears on the wrist really comfortably, it's solar, multi band 6, triple sensor, analogue (second hand works as the compass in compass mode) and negative digital display (that you can read). I'll be sticking with that. Thanks for sharing.
I recently got a rangeman from a pawn shop for $20.... found out a couple weeks later it was miss marked with another gshock...lol...love the rangeman...
Great show MWC! I really want a MIP display G Shock but I’m with you on not personally needing all the tech and connectivity in a watch. This is a nice option for those who do want it though, even if that display is a bit hard to read.
then get the rangerman, update it, turn of HR monitoring , set a screen without steps on it and unpair it.. now you have a regular g-shock where the battery last months or years as long as you dont use the GPS. Being able to charge the watch by cable is needed on any watch with GPS as solar is not enough. Also this watch can get its time through GPS. Get the rangerman you wont regret it. just turn off the HR monitor and unpair it.
It's the compass layer that dims the display so i'd just say go with a GBD-100 or 200, H2000 as well as the upcoming Rangeman that gives the same vibe as this. All the same MIP display. My GBD 200 with negative display is very crisp and easy to read.
Aside from negative display for me there is only one big flaw, why why whyyyy they didn't put bumps on the right side at the abc pushers, the cristal is completely exposed on that side, only time will tell how fragile the cristal will become, i see an upgrade of this model in the future to fix that, anyway i´m going for the gw 9500-1 with positive display such a badass watch, but also i´m getting a screen protector due to that design flaw
@@jesusavila1663 yes that´s true but at the left side there is a bump at the sensor, at the right side there is a mini bump at the baro pusher, of course it has protection and my guess is that the cristal might be thicker but still it´s prone to scratches at certain situations, for some reason the GW9500 does not have a symmetric design like most G shocks, anyway i like the watch and i´m pulling the trigger next month for sure
Do buy the GW-9500, in positive display form, it's probably the most readable LCD g-shock there is... or at least in the top 2 or 3. One of the best grab and go watches when you don't want to think about it.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR that is probably one of the reason, but for me this watch was a gift from heaven. It has all the complications i need and the big screen was the nr1 reason i bought it instead of the rangeman
I don't know, I just don't like the display layout and you're right the compass display is unappealing vrs the 9400. I'll stick to my 9400 and yeah it's a bummer Casio can't seem to get it right with the negative display vrs Timex, Garmin or other brands. Heck I've even seen cheap no name watches with negative display that can be seen well. You'd think that for the cost of these G Shocks Casio would have a working negative display.
This is a very good military watch. Went through muddy and snow training with me, went through crazy muddy mission with me in a Ukraine. Negative dials and non reflective glass are all military purposes, if you want something you could see well go for the black color.
Good review. You're right about the identity crisis between the Mudman and the Rangeman, but i think it goes back to the previous version. I'm looking for the old Mudman that you have, but in the positive version. In my country, I only found the negative version for almost 150 USD. I have the Mudman from 2011, and even though I don't engage in outdoor activities as much as before, I try to enjoy it from time to time.
My most recent was a gwg 2000 mudmaster, about three months back, roughly when they announced the new one. I regret nothing Not into alot of the newer Gs coming out and ive loved them for years and years. Have about 30 in total.
We bought our Mudmasters just about the same time, and I regret nothing since the 2000 is not dependent on Bluetooth. The new mudmaster needs bluetooth, and is just about the same price as the AW Ultra/ Garming Epix Pro, both of which has better features if you are into bluetooth watches.
@maddog8886 I have the new one and have Bluetooth turned off and it just uses the multiband signal like a normal one. I had the gwg 1000, 2000 and this one and the B1000 is definitely the best one (not want you want to hear!) People forget these are options and do not have to be used if you dont want them. Just like the new rangeman doesn't need charging if you dont use the gps, phone connect and fitness features. Too much misleading info
Russ, I want to get a Casio square as I can't find mine 😔 Would you say the Casio origin (GW-M5610U) is the best? The one with the red on it that you have. Or is there another around the same price that is superior?
Real talk now,how do you make that bracelet to fit properly if it does not fit (its either to tight either to loose) same problem the gwg-b1000 has just as gw-9500,help us out, what is there to be done for this 2 amazing watches with the same crappy bracelet,is there a bracelet/band that could fit in that is softer from another model or a 3rd party? Seem like they got no love and support from 3rd party
I have the positive display GW9500 as well as the 9400 Rangeman. I do appreciate the thinness of the newer version as well as the new layout. I think the new MIPS Rangement is a waste of money as it’s just a reskinned G-Shock Move.
I don't get negative displays but my friends who see watches as more fashion accessories love them. so I think casio is catering to the gshock fashion crowd with the negative displays. and we don't see much improvement on them cause those people care more about the look then the function.
To me, negative displays aesthetically look better, hands down. It’s also superior if they’re going after a military/tactical/stealth user. Where functionally it’s better. If it was legible, I’d go with it 98% of the time but for whatever reason, Casio just can’t pull it off unless you get their more expensive models. Which is weird because other brands don’t have an issue with it. It also doesn’t help that Casio’s advertisements/photo’s don’t properly show how bad it’s legibility is, if you where only going off the websites pictures you’d assume it’s as legible as the positive display
I am a G-Shock square addict, but also a Rangeman buyer so when the new Rangeman is replaced by the "needs to be charged " "smart version" I will not be buying that at all , maybe this non smart cross between the Range and Mud will do me , positive display only tho' I wonder is it possible to switch insides between green and black versions ?
One thing I love about many GShock other than the obvious is the "proper" stainless cross head screws attaching the strap to the case. This beast upgrades that to hex head.
This is exactly why last year in 2023 when i needed a tough watch to wear doing construction i bought a GW9400-1 and not one of these new models which absolutely miss the mark with the most important feature of a watch, the ability to see the damn time. Last week i was looking to add another G-Shock to the collection because one can never have too many. My pick? GWX-5600-1JF. A square with MB6, Tough Solar, a fantastic display, looks great and wears like a dream. Oh yeah, and no bluetooth, no thanks. Like you said, theres a reason we still buy squares in 2024. Didnt even know theres a new rangeman coming out, to be honest, it looks awful and ill take my GW-9400 over it any day. If i want to know my pulse I’ll put my fingers on my wrist.
In my experience the only negative display that's in anyway usable is the GD350 blackout which is also one of the most underrated and cheapest Gs currently available. I'm currently down to a GD350 and an expensive MTG B3000. The MTG is a fantastic watch but the complete antithesis of what a gshock is as you don't want to beat it up.
GD350 on my wrist right now. My constant go-to watch. Top negative display. The gold digits on black background are great, look cool and are easy to read.
I also got the g-9000 mudman, I bought it 8 months ago brand new from local official casio agent. however this watch fogs up when I drive my bike and when I cleanse it with cold tap water the agent first "lubricated" the back seal, and the seals of the button but this didn't solve the problem then the replaced the whole case ; and also this didn't solve the issue so is the G-9000 supposed to fog up when exposed to air breeze and while being washed with cold tap water? if yes then it's a scam and not master of G nor tough...
I haven’t had that issue going on a month owning the G9000, but you’ve got me thinking. I’ll have to try it and seen if I get the same results. Still love it.
Sadly had the same problem when I ordered the Casio AE-1500WH-8B2VEF with negative display which on the product photos looked like it would be very easy to tell the time. But in reality made it very hard since the screen just looked black. To have to use the light button even in daytime to be able to see the time felt just bonkers so I returned it. Think I saw something about negative displays having some sort of polarizing(?) filter, that need to be turned just the right way to make the display work properly. If that is the case, could it be a manufacturing problem and quality control issue that the filter is positioned wrongly making the display black instead of clear for the time?
@@BackToWar100 I only have experienced a bad negative display on the Casio AE-1500WH. That watch do not have an auto light, but only light button (top right) but the led is so weak so using it daytime to see the time did not actually work either. None of my six Casio's have auto light, they need a button to be pressed to light up for either 1.5 or 3 seconds. I do have the Casio AE-2000W-1BVEF which is fairly easy to see the time during the day. However when dark, the led on that is also so weak that even in pitch black it's hard to tell the time when pressing the light button. The polarizing filter just seems to be correctly so that the time is most visible looking straight at the watch or from slight angle below. Looking from it sideways makes it just black. The rotation of the filter should be correctly set during assembly and it is quite clear from several videos on Casio negative displays that sadly the quality control is not what it should be. Combine that with too weak led lights and you have products that under perform or is mostly unusable.
Great job, thanks. I am thinking to replace my 12 year old Riseman gw 9200 which I have used intensively ( no compass but never trust a digital one) but I don’t feel like rushing to this one…
I have the positive display and like the dual-layer screen. I put adapters on it and wear it on a Zulu because the strap is too long. I wish it was thinner.
While you and some viewers mentioned wishing it had a mip display, i dunno. Instead of a duplex lcd i really wish it had an STN LCD so you can actually read it. They're like magic, and several protreks with similar features have had them at this price point. The duplex is cool in the -1 positive display module, which you can actually read but seems totally useless in the neg... as is the whole display. A tool watch you can't read? Why?
Too late, I already bought one, lol. I did go with the positive display though which helps a lot. I also agree, that this feels more like an extension of the Rangeman line than the Mudman one. Great video as always.
Thanks for this video. I have the indestructible g-9000 and, to be honest, I also compared it on the wrist with the new gw-9500. The only thing I liked about it was its relatively low weight and thickness. As for the rest, I would definitely choose the good old g-9000 again. In my opinion, Casio didn't really have an idea for this watch. They wanted to fill the gap between the gw-9300 and the Rangeman, but it didn't work out. The new Mudman is probably a dud, and shouldn't it even be called something else?
Mate, do you know how Casio managed to create the best negative display all those years back with the GD-350-1B and never really got any other negative displays right until quite recently with the GBD200 ?? What is going on here ? I got the GD-350 and its readable even in the dark with background ambient light !! Would you have any inside info on what went on here ?? Its baffling !! Love your content mate, the editing is just perfect! Thank you for all that you do! Cheers from a fan in Bengaluru, India.
I disagree! What you call “futuristic barnacles” aren’t fashion statements, it’s functional. The raised portion protects the screen. The lowered part allows drainage. Mud pools on the screen of the old Mudman and old squares. Not this one.
the H2000 and the rangermen are getting bad rep because you can charge it .. let me clear something fellow coach. you connect this to your phone, updated, set the screen you like, turn off HR monitor, and then unpair the watch from the phone and the battery will last you months if not years .. with the option to charge by wire if you live in a cloudy place. People complain about this watch being chargable and then i see people buying special light bubls to charge their tough solar watches or they will die in 5 months. I will say it louder for the people in the back.. charging the watch is only required if you use notifications , the HR monitor or GPS . as the manual states the H2000 and the new rangermen can be powered sorely on solar power if you dont use the health options or GPS. Also the watch has the ability to set its time through GPS , which is much better than atomic since atomic fails all the time and it depends on how far you live from an antennae and setting the correct time zone..instead on the new rangermen you get the time through GPS no matter where you are .. The ability to use the GPS to track a trail or distance walked can be very good to navigate a trail and monitor your progress over time to know if you will make it to base camp or not. but GPS cannot be sorely charged through solar power .. So can we please stop hating the new rangerman and H2000? they both have fantastic screens and as many functions as the regular rangerman plus health and GPS features if you chose to use them
This is sooooo long! Let me tell you my friend . As an owner of the H5600 I’ve not had the notifications on nor had it connected to the phone since I bought it! But!!! It has needed 3 charges. I’m not too bothered about charging it myself as long as it doesn’t make the watch uncomfortable.
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I am currently testing the H2000 without HR monitor or GPS or notifications to see how long the battery lasts. I am on day 5 and the battery still shows "high" or full. Manual says solar power is enough to keep the time keeping part of the watch . I will let youn know., Sorry about the long comment lol
@@ROrneli Why are you apologizing? If that qualifies as a long comment I guess you are not the problem, you can see that someone is not used to reading and has the attention span of a goldfish. I, on the other hand, thank you for your comment, you encouraged me to order the H2000. I had been under the impression that people were lost in some kind of hivemind thinking and after 1 month or so I confirm what you said as well as what I suspected. By now, examination has become yet another excuse for engaging in silly stadium cheering.
Hmmm…. Interesting. I got the GW 9500 Military Green color with negative display and I am happy with that. No problem with legibility and I’m of the opinion that negative display is better choice for that color then positive one. Great watch for me and it looks fantastic. I have few different watches in my collection and change them during the day depending on the situation. A watch is not only the tool for me but most of all it’s a man’s jewelry. It does’n have to show the time only but must express the style and my mood, too. But if I need a watchtool for my work for example, I will choose the most legible watch on the market, probably with analog hands and some kind of luma on them and on the numbers, in order to see the time perfectly in dark rooms and during the night (and I have such a watch and use it regularly - Orient Ray II, but there are plenty of them on the market so everyone can choose what he likes). So, for me GW 9500 with negative display is a great choice. I can recommend it to everyone. The most important thing is that one, that I have some eyesight problems and it doesn’t disturb me in any way to use this watch with negative display. I am able to see everything perfectly. Of course, MIP display will be better and more legible, but if anyone want to have a G-Shock with such a display, than have to look for another one. I think that it’s great that everyone can choose the product wich suits him the most. I’ve chosen GW 9500 Military Green and I’m happy with it. That’s my choice, fully conscious. Regards.
Great review! I bought a Mudman with all the barnacle bits ... And I don't know why. Ha. It's really just a summer watch - There's no getting this under a cuff!
I have the rangeman 9400 in green with negative display, and I can confirm that the display is not good either, I pressed the light button always to see the time, day or night.
I purchased the positive display version in black a few months ago, love the look of the green version, but the negative display is too poor. I love this watch. I also purchased the 9000, which is a great out doorsy watch too.
Hi : 1) You didn’t mention the great added feature: sunrise/sunset!! Now if they’d just add the moon phase this’d be the total outdoor timepiece. 2) seems more to me like an upgraded Pro Trek than an upgraded Rangeman.
The removal of BT connection is a plus for military/government personnel because there are certain jobs that do not allow such watch features behind certain doors.
Well said once again MWC, explaining what we are all thinking. Just located a G9000. That count down to the stopwatch and the cool light up script is a winner.
The barnacle:, I can only bare with them because I am as big as a sasquatch. I have a GWG1000 and I do agree that they must go. The compass is a nice gimmick that has brought me back to safety, the barometer is the most useful thing on the watch alongside the time telling. Weirdly enough, I think the most useless thing is the thermometer since it boils down to, are you hot or are you cold.
Finally a ProTrek PRG-340-3 style Dual LCD!!!! for the Compass, Baro and Alti complications. Basically the same guts..The Toyota version GW-9500TLC-1 $440.00 is cool. They teamed up with Toyota Land Cruiser and Auto Body..But this model for half the price is great...GREAT REVIEW.
Dear " Mad " friend Many thanks for the unbiased revew as always. I have been following you for a long time ,enjoying every episode. I believe it is time to revew the unbelievable, affordable watches from Venezianico Italy . I believe they are worth your honest ,professional revews. Hapy new year to you and your beloved family, including the new Comer. With love and Nizar P.s. Thank you for stopping me from buying what was supposed to be my next Gshock.
Another great video. I got a G9000 with positive display and red buttons after seeing it on Anthony Starr's wrist in Banshee. I was going to get the red case new Mudman until I saw the negative display and how bad it was. Then I wanted the new Rangeman but I don't want to charge it all the time! Bugger
It was for my 6.5 inch wrist. Looked like that wrist gun on Cowboys and Aliens. The Mudman 9300 was much better size-wise so I settled for that. Be nice if Casio made smaller versions of these watches for us smaller wristed types that also includes the other half of the world's population!
It's disappointing that there is no MIP display; such a missed opportunity. I have 2 MIP Casios that are less than half the price. I was aiming for the one with a negative display because I have some Casios with negative display that are quite visible(some of them cost 40$). I was thinking that the visibility would be similar on this one. Boy, was I wrong! When I picked up the watch in the store, I thought that the screen was broken due to the challenging lighting conditions. However, I picked up the standard version and I quite like it.
I think its great G shock now give you a compass I quite often need to draw circles. There should be the option to wear it showing the case back, far better looking that way.
Hi there and thanks for the great video! I've bought the new GW-9500-3 Mudman to compare it to my beloved GW-9400-3 (both green). I must admit, though: The new 9500 is indeed more readable than the old 9400 at almost any angle despite the duplex LCD, at least for me it is! I have discovered a strange phenomenon on my G-Shocks I owned so far and would like to know if you or someone else could help me. Being in a place without radio connection I mostly rely on manually correcting the time. Now, over the years I have observed something I haven't read about anywhere (and another channel only had a general info about different factors causing quartz crystal irregularities that affect accuracy): The accuracy of an individual watch seems to vary! E.g. the 9400 I have has been CONSISTENTLY off about +2 secs per month after the last atomic correction by radio 7 months ago, now I manually set it, and it will be around 1 sec slow per month! That is not the only G-Shock I have observed behaving like this, temperature or mechanical reasons are definitely not the cause. Now my question is, what could cause it? I have tried varying the length of pressing the button that resets the seconds, but it has not made a difference. Do you or anyone else have a clue about what's going on? It would also help me decide which of the two watches I will keep (the 9500 going even a little slower still after several setting attempts). Thanks very much!
I already have GW-9400Y Rangeman. But got the positive display version of this Mudman last week for £174.50 from Ernest Jones with a further 10% off code so paid £157.05! I do actually find the compass really useful and like the overlaid display, walking in a town I don't know I find a printout of a map and a compass far better than Google Maps on the phone. Display is nice and big and simple, date "TH30" rather than "THU 5-30" which I love as I don’t need to know the month nor the 3rd letter of the day! Fits my small wrist much nicer than the size may suggest. I would definitely recommend it.
Excellent video, mate! I tried (and returned) the positive display GW-9500, last summer. Just felt cheap and flimsy. I bought and kept a new/unused GW-9110 Master of G Gulfman which quickly became my favorite digital G-Shock. Looks and feels great on my wrist.
I really don't get the issue some people have with the negative displays. I have a Rangeman Blackout, never had a problem with viewing it. Today I took delivery of this watch with the negative display, and its fine. I can see the time no bother - and I wear glasses!! If I'm not having to squint even a tiny bit to see the numbers, the watch display is clearly doing its job 😂😂
My negative display pro trek (no dual layer) is awesome and reading time is a piece of cake. Honestly, the only G that I have a problem with it on is my GwX5600
Spot on. This and the new Rangeman are gonna be a hard pass for me. I recently picked up several older models with the EL backlight to include the g-9000 Mudman and the Gulfman. G-shok has hit a wall with what they are putting out now. Good for my wallet anyway.
great vid Russ! thinking of getting a DW-H5600-1ER for the heart rate monitor for the gym - have you come across this one? any recommendations or alternatives?
8:20 - It looks like upgraded Rangeman...This is it. Well, the LCD is joke. How can be used outdoors and muddy, when display is not visible? And especially after release of the new Rangeman GPR-H1000, which has MIP LCD, buying this Mudman has no sense imho. BUT, I understand, from nostalgic point of view, this mudman still very cool. Nice backplate, and robustness is obvious (like Mudmaster, the analog one). This is no surprise here.
I like the bulkiness, big wrist over here, when I had my first dual time compass watch 53 diameter got from silver to bronze and 0 Scratches on the screen 80$.
PRW-35 with the negative STN display is much better. And even lighter than the GW-S5600U (square with the titanium caseback). I've had the GBD200 in the past and it is good though not solar powered. The negative with STN is a big upgrade in readability, not as much as the MIP but it gets the job done without the bluetooth and smartwatchy feel.
Like most blokes. I like watches. I've only just recently discovered You Tube watch channels, so many, who would have thought. Yours is the best. You need to expand your interests so you can have your own TV show. 👍.

I too have a mip , but they are not as tough ..
@@JohnSmith-ef8nrcompletely defeats the purpose of a g shock. That’s why the gsw h1000 didn’t do so well
I bought three G's last year. A Frogman DWF, a GG -B Mudmaster and a Rangeman GW9400. I love them to bits and prefer the "traditional" displays as I do actual real world rough and tumble work on a daily basis.
Are the old gshock displays tougher than the new? Should be the same right?
@@MrBacchus18 yes they are equally rugged. I should have included -legibility- there.
Got a 1 week used g-9000-1 here if your looking for it.
Thanks for watching my Anthony!
If you look closely, there are 4 bumps (with screws) around the bezel that should protect the crystal.
I agree. I have the gw9500 and it is for me one of the best for readability.
I should bloomin well hope so the size of the screen my friend!!!!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR that is probably one of the reason, but for me this watch was a gift from heaven. It has all the complications i need and the big screen was the nr1 reason i bought it instead of the rangeman
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR as opposed to the gigantic screen G-Shocks with tiny numbers like the rangeman?
I don't know, I just don't like the display layout and you're right the compass display is unappealing vrs the 9400. I'll stick to my 9400 and yeah it's a bummer Casio can't seem to get it right with the negative display vrs Timex, Garmin or other brands. Heck I've even seen cheap no name watches with negative display that can be seen well. You'd think that for the cost of these G Shocks Casio would have a working negative display.
This is a very good military watch.
Went through muddy and snow training with me, went through crazy muddy mission with me in a
Ukraine.
I regret nothing
Not into alot of the newer Gs coming out and ive loved them for years and years.
I considered this. I went with the positive display of the older Rangeman with yellow highlights.
What's the point of negative display if you hardly see the time. Especially in the dark.
Russ, I want to get a Casio square as I can't find mine 😔 Would you say the Casio origin (GW-M5610U) is the best? The one with the red on it that you have. Or is there another around the same price that is superior?
Stu I think that is the best for the money definitely!
Cheers Russ! 👍@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR
The gw-9300 jdm model with the carbon fiber band and atomic time keeping its a amazing value for money.
Did yours come with a Japanese manual?
Real talk now,how do you make that bracelet to fit properly if it does not fit (its either to tight either to loose) same problem the gwg-b1000 has just as gw-9500,help us out, what is there to be done for this 2 amazing watches with the same crappy bracelet,is there a bracelet/band that could fit in that is softer from another model or a 3rd party? Seem like they got no love and support from 3rd party
I just got the GX56-TU. I think its the best new G on the market. Positive display and tough solar is all I need. And the color screams tacti cool 😎
I have the positive display GW9500 as well as the 9400 Rangeman. I do appreciate the thinness of the newer version as well as the new layout. I think the new MIPS Rangement is a waste of money as it’s just a reskinned G-Shock Move.
I have the G9000 with red pushers and the size is perfect for me. Great video. Have a great day!
So, to buy this one or GW-9400-1?
I dropped in a comment too on the GD-350 and what an underrated gem it is!
Agree, GD350 is the only negative display G that's readable.
I own the GPR 1000 Rangeman and the negative display is awesome.
@@Nightmareman3 damn Boi! DAMN BOI HE THICC !! BOI !! That's a thicc timepiece Boi!!
GD350 on my wrist right now. My constant go-to watch. Top negative display. The gold digits on black background are great, look cool and are easy to read.
The first Gulfman, doesn´t it also illuminate the dial texts?
I also got the g-9000 mudman, I bought it 8 months ago brand new from local official casio agent.
however this watch fogs up when I drive my bike and when I cleanse it with cold tap water
the agent first "lubricated" the back seal, and the seals of the button but this didn't solve the problem
then the replaced the whole case ; and also this didn't solve the issue
so is the G-9000 supposed to fog up when exposed to air breeze and while being washed with cold tap water?
if yes then it's a scam and not master of G nor tough...
It is annoying to use the auto light when you move your wrist during day time ...
Why?
@rb2112 yeah like if the prw-30 can have an stn display why doesn't this?
I appreciate the honest review, Casio needs to get their $hit together and make the faces more legible.
Love your channel and your energy! Your channel is better than Netflix.
Too late, I already bought one, lol. I did go with the positive display though which helps a lot. I also agree, that this feels more like an extension of the Rangeman line than the Mudman one. Great video as always.
It's basically a protrek in a g shock case
What's the main difference between Rangeman and Mudman series?
Gimmick compass !
Where did you get that Casio t shirt bro!?
Mate, do you know how Casio managed to create the best negative display all those years back with the GD-350-1B and never really got any other negative displays right until quite recently with the GBD200 ?? What is going on here ? I got the GD-350 and its readable even in the dark with background ambient light !! Would you have any inside info on what went on here ?? Its baffling !! Love your content mate, the editing is just perfect! Thank you for all that you do! Cheers from a fan in Bengaluru, India.
GD350 is one of the few watches I bought twice.
Looks like the new mudman is a Rangeman, new Rangeman, replaced the GBDH 2000. I’m confused.
I disagree!
What you call “futuristic barnacles” aren’t fashion statements, it’s functional. The raised portion protects the screen. The lowered part allows drainage. Mud pools on the screen of the old Mudman and old squares.
Not this one.
Love this! Jim’s on the design team!
the H2000 and the rangermen are getting bad rep because you can charge it .. let me clear something fellow coach. you connect this to your phone, updated, set the screen you like, turn off HR monitor, and then unpair the watch from the phone and the battery will last you months if not years .. with the option to charge by wire if you live in a cloudy place.
I will let youn know.,
Sorry about the long comment lol
Regards.
Giving very serious consideration getting the Mudman 9500. Only problem is I already wear a Rangeman 9400. Truly torn. Worth?
Great review! I bought a Mudman with all the barnacle bits ... And I don't know why. Ha. It's really just a summer watch - There's no getting this under a cuff!
I have the rangeman 9400 in green with negative display, and I can confirm that the display is not good either, I pressed the light button always to see the time, day or night.
Where to buy your F-91W T-shirt? (Why you don't wear your own t-shirt on MWC store? 😅)
Where can I find this DW-93,000 you speak of?
I purchased the positive display version in black a few months ago, love the look of the green version, but the negative display is too poor. I love this watch.
I also purchased the 9000, which is a great out doorsy watch too.
Hi :
1) You didn’t mention the great added feature: sunrise/sunset!! Now if they’d just add the moon phase this’d be the total outdoor timepiece.
2) seems more to me like an upgraded Pro Trek than an upgraded Rangeman.
Negative displays suck. If you disagree, wait until you turn 50.....it happenned to a friend of mine.
Hahahahahaha
The removal of BT connection is a plus for military/government personnel because there are certain jobs that do not allow such watch features behind certain doors.
Well said once again MWC, explaining what we are all thinking.
Just located a G9000. That count down to the stopwatch and the cool light up script is a winner.
Totally agree. Basic g shock is still the best.
I love my GGB100-1A but wouldn’t mind if it was a little thinner…
There actually was a negative display pro-trek, I know that because my dad has one and them things are immortal
Howdy! Do we have the result/conclusion for the Blue Seiko Giveaway?
Finally a ProTrek PRG-340-3 style Dual LCD!!!! for the Compass, Baro and Alti complications. Basically the same guts..The Toyota version GW-9500TLC-1 $440.00 is cool. They teamed up with Toyota Land Cruiser and Auto Body..But this model for half the price is great...GREAT REVIEW.
Do you plan on reviewing the Charles Darwin Foundation G-Shock?
Dear " Mad " friend
Many thanks for the unbiased revew as always. I have been following you for a long time ,enjoying every episode.
I believe it is time to revew the unbelievable, affordable watches from Venezianico Italy . I believe they are worth your honest ,professional revews.
Hapy new year to you and your beloved family, including the new Comer.

P.s. Thank you for stopping me from buying what was supposed to be my next Gshock.
Multi band 6 doesn't always work but Bluetooth will auto adjust the time all on its own once your watch is within range.
I was do close to purchasing one. But they are too ProTrek looking. Then I saw the GWG-1000 on sale. It arrived today. Glad I waited a while.
Another great video. I got a G9000 with positive display and red buttons after seeing it on Anthony Starr's wrist in Banshee. I was going to get the red case new Mudman until I saw the negative display and how bad it was. Then I wanted the new Rangeman but I don't want to charge it all the time! Bugger
I have a Smael Chinese 5600 copy with a better negative display than that. I like the idea of a barometer and compass though
This is so spot on. Just picked up a 9300, solar and radio are musts for me. Thanks, and bravo.
I have a 6.5"/16.5 cm wrist. Would a Rangeman be too big for me?
It was for my 6.5 inch wrist. Looked like that wrist gun on Cowboys and Aliens. The Mudman 9300 was much better size-wise so I settled for that. Be nice if Casio made smaller versions of these watches for us smaller wristed types that also includes the other half of the world's population!
@@davidmcmillan4321 ha thanks for your reply! I am trying to get something sensors but I suspected it was going to be way big. I'll check out the 9300
It's disappointing that there is no MIP display; such a missed opportunity.
I have this exact watch in this color too! It’s my first non-classic (not a 5600, 6600 or 6900) G-Shock. I love it!
I love my GW-9400. That’s all I need.
I like the reduced animations and fillers actually. It got a bit overwhelming for me!
I do try and evolve my friend
I already have GW-9400Y Rangeman. But got the positive display version of this Mudman last week for £174.50 from Ernest Jones with a further 10% off code so paid £157.05! I do actually find the compass really useful and like the overlaid display, walking in a town I don't know I find a printout of a map and a compass far better than Google Maps on the phone. Display is nice and big and simple, date "TH30" rather than "THU 5-30" which I love as I don’t need to know the month nor the 3rd letter of the day! Fits my small wrist much nicer than the size may suggest. I would definitely recommend it.
I really hope they make an option on their units GPS..that gives MGRS..tired of garmin not being able to handle harsh environment.
lol yup. The MIP display in the last 3500 is outstanding. Or get a Garmin Instinct series if you actually need an adventure watch.
An outdoor watch that you have trouble reading outdoors… kind of a tough one to take
Which one is with positive display?
This was the hillariouisest watch review i ever watched. First time in channel. Already subbed
Thank you my friend and welcome aboard!!!!
Love your vid! The 2014 GPW-1000 was solar with GPS (and multi-band). And a bit of a monster.
My negative display pro trek (no dual layer) is awesome and reading time is a piece of cake. Honestly, the only G that I have a problem with it on is my GwX5600
Just purchased this for £175 in the sale on HM Samuel online and I love it. Still love my old G-9000 though. I agree the negative display is dross.

Agreed on all points. Great review as always!
I'll stick with my GPR-B1000-1ER, cracking watch that does what I need to to when trekking.
My Protrek has the more or less the same module but with MIP, super clear & legible.
