I'm the owner of a Heritage guitar. I'm from Michigan. I appreciate the Heritage story, and brand. As for the Ascent line , as long as they aren't shit, I don't see a problem with it. Gretsch has their name on every level guitar that they produce, regardless of where they're produced, and I don't hear anyone complaining about it. I'm sure that Heritage is trying to build brand loyalty, and there's no way that they could produce sub $400 guitars out of the Kalamazoo plant.
I have a 535 and a 575. Great guitars. This I’ll pass.
As for Gretsch I have a Streamliner and Electromatic. I should have passed on them and gotten a MIJ model, but they are okay. Electromatic is written out on the pick guard.
Good point about Gretsch I actually respect a company giving you the”good” branding at all price points.
Totally agree. It’s not consistent for people complain about Epiphone and the fact that they don’t use the same headstock shape and a bunch of other gripes and then turn around and say that Heritage should do exactly what Gibson does with Epiphone. Besides, there we two other factors at play that may not be obvious. The first, as Phhil McKnight noted, is that the terms of the agreement with Gibson may not allow them to use any other brand name for their instruments and still be able to sell them without running afoul of copyright infringement. The second is that the Ascent line is nowhere to be found in the United States. It is purposely being kept out of the American market because the company is aware that it commands a premium brand value and already has general market awareness and acceptance. Where the Heritage brand does not have widespread awareness or acceptance, and certainly not as a premium brand, is internationally and especially in Asia. BandLabs is attempting to seed the market to introduce the brand and graduate people up to their premium lines. But first they need to provide an entryway into their product at an affordable price point to induce guitar players in Asia to give them a shot. This is not a problem for Fender or Gibson because they are iconic. But it is very much a problem for Heritage in Asia where they are an unknown at worst and an afterthought at best.
I like that first guitar. Looked very rock and roll. Thanks for including stuff you don't like. It's really refreshing to see cool not so esthetic stuff.

I actually really liked the Westcreek DC. Nice and light. Great frets!
My issue was:
dogear p90s can’t be height adjusted
and on this guitar the neck angle is probably 3 degrees
aka
the only pickup is too low. It sounds very thin
because it’s too far from the strings.
Solution: find a dogear p90 pickup RING. Then install a regular p90 in that ring. Adjust it up towards the strings.

I really vibe with the paintjob on that Rainbow Rockstar. Maybe not the "textured" look of the poorly done clear coat, but I like the rainbow itself!!

I get the logic behind creating a sub brand to delineate a budget line made in a different factory from the core flagship instruments.
However, since I'm not an American and don't have a permanent chub for 'made in USA' or the legacy of Gibson's original factory - I just don't care enough to get mad about this.
There's an expensive one and a cheap one and they have the same name, fine. Whatever.
I tried the Heritage Ascent and the built quality is superb, not like any cheap import brand. Actually, it's on par with Squier CV which way more expensive
I wish I had an Ed Roth guitar. I grew up with his art in the 60's. Love rat fink! Might have to look for a rat fink guitar now... 👍
You should definitely get Mrs. Hum's delightful visage added to your Silver Sky. I'm not a fan of the Silver Sky but that would finally make it more unique and look sweet all at the same time. I vote that guitar for lovely face art.

The canary Heritage is metaphorical in a way. I think they made it to create a stir in the old coalmine and get the name out.
Lichtenstein guy is doing mix&match screenprints on bottom-dollar imports - as effectively interior-decorator's elements. Could "use" one for smashing up a stage and not much else.
A one-off (hand) paint-job would cost more like $500+ than $250.
I have 3 real Heritage guitars. It does not affect or bother me that they are producing low budget models. It does not decrease the quality or value of my more expensive guitars.

Heritage is doing it as a way to protect itself from all the imported copies and fakes.
Handsonic hand drum is something I really want to splurge on, there are some great demos online. Danny Carey uses one too in live performances.
Right, but the cheaper Gretsch guitars say Electromatic, also Gretsch isn't revered specifically for what factory they are made in. Infact, unless u go super high end all their instruments are made overseas.
I do love my Korea Hamer Standard! Had it since 2001, and it’s still one of my go to main guitars and still a favorite. Very worthy Explorer copy.

I’m pretty sure that Hamer is still owned by the mega corporation that Fender is part of (is it Kaman?) and they have bought a lot of brands, Gretsch being one.
I was a mod on the HFC, fender bought the about 15 years ago and shut down the USA division then they sold it to jam and now they are exclusively imports, rip real Hamers
I feel like Heritage selling cheap guitars is like how Epiphone is selling $1200 imported les pauls
I was looking at a Heritage 150 a few years ago, looked like a fine guitar, but I am glad I didn't after seeing this episode. Bought an Epiphone 59 Les Paul love it, very pretty plays very nice
I dont mind the Heritage thing . PRS do it Hamer did it G&L did it and it works for them
Until someone puts hands on them, there really can't be a complaint about them. These might be the best built budget guitars out there but ya know, people... Also, as mentioned by others, they likely have no option to rebrand anything they make.

The Heritic Ascent
The finish on that partscaster looks like what they call "Surfer Girl".
Normally a fantastic wipe on finish. It looks like they tried a clear coat over with some aging compound added.

re: Heritage. I'm drawn to these lower-priced guitars because I associate Heritage with top-tier guitars. Whether it's a good move for the company, I don't know, but I 'll stop and try them if I see them.
Doubt there is any original employees there anymore. Ownership has changed several times. I feel they need to expand their market.
The heritage things just seems like pointless outrage, but I guess it's something to talk about.
It's hardly any different from Fender selling Japanese guitars with the same headstock 40+ years ago. You had to be less than a foot away to read the tiny 'MIJ' text on those.
If I had a Heritage already this wouldn't mean a thing, as it won't stop me from lusting for _some_ of their guitars more or less than I already was. Any and every company that _could_ only sell high-roller custom guitars _would...._ until they go out of business, anyway. They would have to soon jack up their Golden Eagle another $1000 because they can't take on very many other sales to support the company, given their Kalamazoo-made waiting list.

true story, i was gifted a 4500 dollar hamer arch top double cut flame top it was from a good customer who was pasing a way he wanted to will it to me but he was moving back home and just decided to give it to me when he left town, he gave me the guitar as a gift it was amaizing quality crazy good quality. anyways he kept on living thank God for him I told him i wasnt a playing it much ( i played vox terdrops and phantoms at the time) mainly i played it at home and i ended up sending it back to him. never heard anything after that i think he was a little upset i wasnt playing it over my voxes i wasnt gonna lie to him and i was happy to send it back. but i can say the usa hamers are crazy nice
