You’re so right about the psychological issues that cause people to find faults on their face. I used to work at a sunglasses store, and found that most people will love a pair of sunglasses on other people but will think they look ugly in them. Unfortunately, people are their own worst critic and once they understand and accept that, they can see themselves differently.

On a side note to those who have acne on their back or eczema.try to get this in your country called Bio-Piel(Korean brand).been using it for the past 1-2 months and it has cleared up most of my acne and pot marks on my back and arms.works on the face too with my eczema.plenty of good reviews..just ordered the body wash to try out.hopefully its awesome too
This is for fellow subscriber mctaboo but also a general comment for all. Mctaboo said Dr. Lim is a racist, but I don’t believe mctaboo understands the definition of racism. Racism is believing that one race is superior to all other, hatred without reason of another race. Racism is not: disliking something someone else likes, not believing what someone else believes, disagreeing with an ideology, being concerned for your own safety and acting accordingly (whether the perceived threat is real or not), or showing pictures of the actions of others (without additional context supporting hatred for that entire race). There is a quote I think of often, “We judge ourselves by our intentions but others by their actions”. I think this video is a good opportunity to consider Dr. Lim’s intentions, which he has stated, and which I have found no evidence to believe he is lying about. If we find fault in Dr. Lim’s actions, perhaps the answer why lies within ourselves and not Dr. Lim. I do hope mctaboo reconsiders their assertion that Dr. Lim is racist. Not for Dr. Lim, he knows who he is. Reconsider for themselves, so they can reach a greater understanding of themselves and therefor achieve a greater overall sense of calm nod contentment. They will become less likely to be dragged around by their emotions, letting others decide how they feel. In other words, often times when we are angry or triggered, it is because we are hurt, or afraid, or feeling vulnerable and we believe we mustn’t expose that vulnerability to others. It’s too scary to admit we are vulnerable because we believe it must mean there is something wrong with us, we are broken, and if others find out they will reject us. An example is showing anger towards someone who is late. We focus on that alone, why are they late? Why can’t they just leave on time? How hard is it to arrive on time? They must be stupid to not be able to arrive on time. What we are really saying is “When you show up late, I’m afraid it means you don’t care about me. I’m scared it means you may not love me, and I want to be loved”. Instead of getting to the root of the emotion, you will be stuck fighting over being late, which isn’t the issue at all. Perhaps the issue is the person arriving late loves you madly but has poor executive planning skills. Focus on that to solve the issue. The important distinction here is that feelings aren’t fact and shouldn’t be treated as such.
You were wise not to go, even though you are great at what you do, anything can go wrong and would end up being put in prison, tortured and possible beheaded.
Wow, much respect to you, it’s so refreshing to see someone with high ethics & morals and especially how you look after your staff when it comes to rude patients. I work in an environment where everyday i and my colleagues could deal with rude patients, its a very disheartening part of the job.
@@drdavinlim It upsets me to a good doctor get bad reviews but bad doctors get away with ruining a person’s face. A plastic surgery burned half my face with an IPL laser. First time using it on my face, he had his assistant do the treatment unattended, which she had never done before. He had the machine at the highest setting and never did a patch test. When I complained of extreme pain, they told me that was good and that meant I would get a good result and just kept on going. The doctor admitted fault for the entire incident, but provided no treatment to fix the damage. I have spent over $2000 US and still require additional treatments. No matter how many official complaints I place with government agencies, nothing is done to him. Patients really need to appreciate a good dermatologists like you, because such doctors are the exception to the rule nowadays.
For those of you who are close to me you would have heard this story. Once in a lifetime. I took a week to think it over, and I asked my close colleagues and family about this offer to treat the Royal Family - I should have revealed my decision at the end of the video not the start. This video goes BEYOND the story, it reveals why I elect to treat or not treat patients who have acne scarring. I find the physical aspect of scar revision easy, as a solution is always possible, its the personality of the patients that I find challenging. Well over 90% of my patient I look forward to treating, as I am improving lives- especially my International patients who do not take the Medicare rebate for granted. A big thank you. There were very humble clients just like any other clients of mine. Your video implements like they are scary people with unpredictable reactions but the truth is they are just like us all. And just like us if we get bad results from a treatment by a doctor we will sure blame the doctor (Human nature). M E Valencia The royals would not easily have the freedom to intimidate and act on it in a country outside of Saudi Arabia. Well, unless they insisted on treatment with a Saudi Embassy.
M. E. Valencia it’s much easier and convenient to get the doc to come to them than them traveling with a security team, taking days off etc. money isn’t an issue with them, they can afford it. If this is a minor he or she would have to travel with guardians too, take days off from school etc.
I wonder too why they didnt opt to just go to Australia if they are reallt desperate to have an “acne scar” treated. They can even do it in a rented mansion in australia.

Not all money is good money. I'm so glad you turned the offer down. You truly are the best dermatologist around. Ethical, compassionate, funny, and knowledgeable. I'm not surprised the house of Sauds wanted you. The house of Sauds is known for getting what they want. It's in their nature. They are used to getting what they want since birth. If they feel that you didn't give them a flawless face, they might just punish you by jailing you. Lol I watched too many documentaries on how horrible they treat their Philipino maids/slaves, how terrible they treated their Thai farm workers and how they treat anyone who they considered their inferior. They don't just mistreat the Asians, they also keep Estern Europeans girls as sex slaves. There was a documentary, years ago, about miss America, who was offered a job in the Saudi Palace as their interior decorator, when she got there, she said everything was okay for about a week, then hell broke loose when one of the Saudi princes tried to have sex with her, when she turned him down, he got furious and threw her in the dungeon with the other sex slaves they kept. She said there was Asian sex slaves, Estern Europeans girls, Western European girls, pretty much girls of all races, who were promised legitimate jobs but ended up as sex slaves. Miss America was able to escaped with the help of the American media, American politicians who pulled strings to get her out. She was able to contact her family in the states and told them she was being held captives in Saudi Arabia and her family called the media and their local Senator and Congressman. This documentary was in the late 90s. She said girls were being held as sex slaves in the palace. These girls would serviced the princes and all of the princes friends or foreign dignitaries and visitors. The ones that was lucky enough to be released, got sent home with alot of jewels and cash, so they'll keep their mouth shut. If the Saudis could murdered their own dissenting daughters, sons, and family members, they can murder anyone.

Type in TH-cam "What happened to Saudi dissenting son's and daughter" and a BBC documentary will pop up about how the royal families kidnapped and kill their own family members that don't agree with them. Or type in "Saudi princesses held captive". Types in "Saudi Thai farm workers" and "Saudi Philippino worker/slaves" All of these documentaries will pop up. As for the miss America story, since the documentary was in the late 90s, you might be able to find that on Amazon or Netflix.
Wow Dr Lim great story! Very tempting offer but you did not only showed your ethics but your intelligence when you didn't accept the job with the Royals. Also showed you are not greedy which is refreshing in a world that worships money, congratulations! In regards to the 2nd topic I will be more than grateful if a doctor tells me the truth and give me options...much better that ended looking as a chipmunk (if fillers) or with my expectations crashed. I commend you for not overlooking the psycological state of your patient minds. My uncle is a doctor too (cardiologist) and he always asses that part to have a better knowledge of his patients. I am not a man and ironically a I work outside riyadh and jeddah . Tabuk to be exact . Where most of the patient don't have that mentality if you sit with and treated them with respect and did not assume that most of them are backward believe me they're RESPECTFUL even if I was a women.
And please we are all doctors we all deal with difficult patients. That's why they stress on Doctor patient relationship in med school . Because misunderstandment are the root of most problems.

It’s difficult to say no sometimes. I’ve been shouted at a few times for declining to treat someone for the reasons you list. I’ve also had a bad review for advising a surgical rather than non surgical rhinoplasty, which confused me greatly as I was simply trying to suggest the right thing for the patient!!
I respecy you dr lim And i agree with all the reasons you mentioned But lets face it the true number 1 reason was the pressure of failing to an intolerant client eith a loy of power in his own country who can litterly punish you if you dont succeed his expectations Im honest i would be scared too

I admire your decision, you have your ethics on who and how you treat a patient, it was a lot of money to turn down but well done for standing up and saying you would not preform their treatment. My two kids have bad acne scarring especially my son and still has big red sores that are solid coming up and he’s like I’ll just get my face and back lasered when I’m 21, he’s 17 just now, he is totally embarked about his back because it is so bad that even when it gets really warm he refuses to take his t shirt off. I’ve told him when’s he’s 21 and his back and face are clear of the acne we will make an informed decision and look into several Dermaloigts and maybe consider treatment then but not before. You never know we might even come to see you all the way from sunny Armadale in Scotland 💕💕💕💕🏴🏴
Hi, definitely you made the right decision because you explained why!!?very professionally. but in life if you ever get the invitation from royal family of other GCC countries don't hesitate. I moved from Canada here and brother my life changed for good. I heard from close friends that if you are a royal doctor you have a vip status in the royal house hold. One thing apply on all arabs they are wonderful and gracious hosts. Saying it from my personal experience. BUT, PARDON ME a part of me(a Hollywood inspired) is saying you should've gone. You were correct not to go, no matter how much they offer you. It's after all a foreign country and you will be subject to their laws. Furthermore, why can't wealthy people come to you, they are so rich, traveling 1st class is easy for them.

Thank you so much for replying. Unfortunately the NHS won’t do things like that because it’s classed as cosmetic surgery and we get told to take doxycycline every day (which my son has now come immune to it. I’m thinking of trying Differin on the areas that have the blackheads and scars. My son at the moment has had a flare up for this whole year and nothing is working, he’s 32 and is now Crying with the pain and very depressed it’s actually affecting his life.
angie clarke No disrespect to Dr. Lim who is an amazing person. Have you watched any of Dr. Dray’s videos? She’s an American dermatologist who posts daily with educational and fun content. She has a few in depth videos on Differin. Not sure if Differin can help you, but if you’re going to try it I’d suggest learning best practices on use, her videos on it address that. My best to you and your sons.

Really good explanation...i agree some people are very rude and indisciplinate even if you try to help and say the reality....Doctors should be like you...usally.I like your channel...i'm from Europe...and i don't like to spend much money to be ,just cream and clean the skin..any way i have not problem with my face skin even i have the pale one,,,but very important is the diet....and exercise..just walking every day...is good for me.Thanks doctor.
I highly doubt this story is true and not made up for gaining a certain type of publicity. 1- In saudi we have great dermatologists and doctors in general. 2- if it was in fact true and you turned it down why are here parading the amount you were offered? Again ( Fake news) 3- and far most I think it is ridiculous that a supposedly educated person would make assumptions on a WHOLE country based on what he heard on the media. Refusing to go for your own safety is your right but going on youtube flashing the ( turned down offer) is questionable. If you claim thats out of integrity, then where is your integrity when “ potential” patients approached you? I think you should stick to your profession and stop telling stories because some people can actually tell when they hear lies.
No I wouldn’t take a job with the Saudi royal family. And that’s mainly because they treat have of the population as property. They also use slave labour, ignore the human right of LGBTIQ ppl. I’m really surprised you even considered it.
We have a saying in the U.S., “all money ain’t good money”. I don’t blame you for turning down the Saudi royal family. If they had been willing to travel to Australia, then yes, of course, treat them.
I think that was a wise decision. We are an American family who lived Saudi Arabia for 8 years and one of my dad's co-workers accidentally hit a woman crossing in the middle of the road with his car (woman survived). He was put in jail for 1 year. I suppose his fate could have been worse but it's still very unpredictable what can happen in a case with a medical procedure gone wrong. Anyways, really enjoy your videos and if we didn't live so far away in San Francisco, I would definitely seek your services.

Oh my god why are you so far away. I wish you were at least somewhere in Europe. You are on the other side of the world. I would be afraid to work with Saudi royals too. I live in Turkey and it was really scary what happened to journalist. No amount of money can make me travel to that country. :((( (By the way I am a 50 year old female subscriber and if one day I travel to Brisbane I will definitely set up an consultation appointment..)

Wow. My father is a retired Race Horse Veterinarian and racehorse orthopedic surgeon. In the 90"s the royal family of Abu Dhabi contacted my father and wanted him to come and treat their horses. He went over three times. Then they wanted him to move there and become their full-time vet. They offered a huge amount of money. My mom said now. They were not leaving Texas.

On a side note to those who have acne on their back or eczema.try to get this in your country called Bio-Piel(Korean brand).been using it for the past 1-2 months and it has cleared up most of my acne and pot marks on my back and arms.works on the face too with my eczema.plenty of good reviews..just ordered the body wash to try out.hopefully its awesome too
This is for fellow subscriber mctaboo but also a general comment for all. Mctaboo said Dr. Lim is a racist, but I don’t believe mctaboo understands the definition of racism. Racism is believing that one race is superior to all other, hatred without reason of another race. Racism is not: disliking something someone else likes, not believing what someone else believes, disagreeing with an ideology, being concerned for your own safety and acting accordingly (whether the perceived threat is real or not), or showing pictures of the actions of others (without additional context supporting hatred for that entire race). There is a quote I think of often, “We judge ourselves by our intentions but others by their actions”. I think this video is a good opportunity to consider Dr. Lim’s intentions, which he has stated, and which I have found no evidence to believe he is lying about. If we find fault in Dr. Lim’s actions, perhaps the answer why lies within ourselves and not Dr. Lim. I do hope mctaboo reconsiders their assertion that Dr. Lim is racist. Not for Dr. Lim, he knows who he is. Reconsider for themselves, so they can reach a greater understanding of themselves and therefor achieve a greater overall sense of calm nod contentment. They will become less likely to be dragged around by their emotions, letting others decide how they feel. In other words, often times when we are angry or triggered, it is because we are hurt, or afraid, or feeling vulnerable and we believe we mustn’t expose that vulnerability to others. It’s too scary to admit we are vulnerable because we believe it must mean there is something wrong with us, we are broken, and if others find out they will reject us. An example is showing anger towards someone who is late. We focus on that alone, why are they late? Why can’t they just leave on time? How hard is it to arrive on time? They must be stupid to not be able to arrive on time. What we are really saying is “When you show up late, I’m afraid it means you don’t care about me. I’m scared it means you may not love me, and I want to be loved”. Instead of getting to the root of the emotion, you will be stuck fighting over being late, which isn’t the issue at all. Perhaps the issue is the person arriving late loves you madly but has poor executive planning skills. Focus on that to solve the issue. The important distinction here is that feelings aren’t fact and shouldn’t be treated as such.
You were wise not to go, even though you are great at what you do, anything can go wrong and would end up being put in prison, tortured and possible beheaded.
Wow, much respect to you, it’s so refreshing to see someone with high ethics & morals and especially how you look after your staff when it comes to rude patients. I work in an environment where everyday i and my colleagues could deal with rude patients, its a very disheartening part of the job.
Yeah - I just ban them.... if they are rude behind your back, they DO have a personality trait that will bite you later on...seriously.

@@drdavinlim It upsets me to a good doctor get bad reviews but bad doctors get away with ruining a person’s face. A plastic surgery burned half my face with an IPL laser. First time using it on my face, he had his assistant do the treatment unattended, which she had never done before. He had the machine at the highest setting and never did a patch test. When I complained of extreme pain, they told me that was good and that meant I would get a good result and just kept on going. The doctor admitted fault for the entire incident, but provided no treatment to fix the damage. I have spent over $2000 US and still require additional treatments. No matter how many official complaints I place with government agencies, nothing is done to him. Patients really need to appreciate a good dermatologists like you, because such doctors are the exception to the rule nowadays.
For those of you who are close to me you would have heard this story. Once in a lifetime. I took a week to think it over, and I asked my close colleagues and family about this offer to treat the Royal Family - I should have revealed my decision at the end of the video not the start. This video goes BEYOND the story, it reveals why I elect to treat or not treat patients who have acne scarring. I find the physical aspect of scar revision easy, as a solution is always possible, its the personality of the patients that I find challenging. M. E. Valencia it’s much easier and convenient to get the doc to come to them than them traveling with a security team, taking days off etc. money isn’t an issue with them, they can afford it. If this is a minor he or she would have to travel with guardians too, take days off from school etc.

The house of Sauds is known for getting what they want. It's in their nature. They are used to getting what they want since birth. If they feel that you didn't give them a flawless face, they might just punish you by jailing you. Lol
I watched too many documentaries on how horrible they treat their Philipino maids/slaves, how terrible they treated their Thai farm workers and how they treat anyone who they considered their inferior.
They don't just mistreat the Asians, they also keep Estern Europeans girls as sex slaves. There was a documentary, years ago, about miss America, who was offered a job in the Saudi Palace as their interior decorator, when she got there, she said everything was okay for about a week, then hell broke loose when one of the Saudi princes tried to have sex with her, when she turned him down, he got furious and threw her in the dungeon with the other sex slaves they kept.
She said there was Asian sex slaves, Estern Europeans girls, Western European girls, pretty much girls of all races, who were promised legitimate jobs but ended up as sex slaves.
Miss America was able to escaped with the help of the American media, American politicians who pulled strings to get her out. She was able to contact her family in the states and told them she was being held captives in Saudi Arabia and her family called the media and their local Senator and Congressman.
This documentary was in the late 90s. She said girls were being held as sex slaves in the palace. These girls would serviced the princes and all of the princes friends or foreign dignitaries and visitors.
The ones that was lucky enough to be released, got sent home with alot of jewels and cash, so they'll keep their mouth shut.
If the Saudis could murdered their own dissenting daughters, sons, and family members, they can murder anyone.

Yup. All of this are true. You can search all these documentaries online.
Type in TH-cam "What happened to Saudi dissenting son's and daughter" and a BBC documentary will pop up about how the royal families kidnapped and kill their own family members that don't agree with them. Or type in "Saudi princesses held captive".
Types in "Saudi Thai farm workers" and "Saudi Philippino worker/slaves" All of these documentaries will pop up.
As for the miss America story, since the documentary was in the late 90s, you might be able to find that on Amazon or Netflix.

In regards to the 2nd topic I will be more than grateful if a doctor tells me the truth and give me options...much better that ended looking as a chipmunk (if fillers) or with my expectations crashed. I commend you for not overlooking the psycological state of your patient minds. My uncle is a doctor too (cardiologist) and he always asses that part to have a better knowledge of his patients. It shows that you care about your patients Dr. LIm, and that are wise.

It’s difficult to say no sometimes. I’ve been shouted at a few times for declining to treat someone for the reasons you list. I’ve also had a bad review for advising a surgical rather than non surgical rhinoplasty, which confused me greatly as I was simply trying to suggest the right thing for the patient!!

My two kids have bad acne scarring especially my son and still has big red sores that are solid coming up and he’s like I’ll just get my face and back lasered when I’m 21, he’s 17 just now, he is totally embarked about his back because it is so bad that even when it gets really warm he refuses to take his t shirt off. I’ve told him when’s he’s 21 and his back and face are clear of the acne we will make an informed decision and look into several Dermaloigts and maybe consider treatment then but not before. Sorry, I know the case reports of CO2 laser but this condition is MEDICAL, biologic treatment by the NHS is the way forward.

Unfortunately the NHS won’t do things like that because it’s classed as cosmetic surgery and we get told to take doxycycline every day (which my son has now come immune to it. I’m thinking of trying Differin on the areas that have the blackheads and scars. My son at the moment has had a flare up for this whole year and nothing is working, he’s 32 and is now Crying with the pain and very depressed it’s actually affecting his life.

She has a few in depth videos on Differin. Not sure if Differin can help you, but if you’re going to try it I’d suggest learning best practices on use, her videos on it address that. Really good explanation...i agree some people are very rude and indisciplinate even if you try to help and say the reality....Doctors should be like you...usally.I like your channel...i'm from Europe...and i don't like to spend much money to be ,just cream and clean the skin..any way i have not problem with my face skin even i have the pale one,,,but very important is the diet....and exercise..just walking every day...is good for me.Thanks doctor.
I highly doubt this story is true and not made up for gaining a certain type of publicity. 1- In saudi we have great dermatologists and doctors in general. 2- if it was in fact true and you turned it down why are here parading the amount you were offered? Again ( Fake news) 3- and far most I think it is ridiculous that a supposedly educated person would make assumptions on a WHOLE country based on what he heard on the media. Refusing to go for your own safety is your right but going on youtube flashing the ( turned down offer) is questionable. If you claim thats out of integrity, then where is your integrity when “ potential” patients approached you? I think you should stick to your profession and stop telling stories because some people can actually tell when they hear lies.
No I wouldn’t take a job with the Saudi royal family. And that’s mainly because they treat have of the population as property. They also use slave labour, ignore the human right of LGBTIQ ppl. I’m really surprised you even considered it.
We have a saying in the U.S., “all money ain’t good money”. I don’t blame you for turning down the Saudi royal family. If they had been willing to travel to Australia, then yes, of course, treat them.
I think that was a wise decision. We are an American family who lived Saudi Arabia for 8 years and one of my dad's co-workers accidentally hit a woman crossing in the middle of the road with his car (woman survived). He was put in jail for 1 year. I suppose his fate could have been worse but it's still very unpredictable what can happen in a case with a medical procedure gone wrong. Anyways, really enjoy your videos and if we didn't live so far away in San Francisco, I would definitely seek your services.

Oh my god why are you so far away. I wish you were at least somewhere in Europe. You are on the other side of the world. I would be afraid to work with Saudi royals too. I live in Turkey and it was really scary what happened to journalist. Wow. My father is a retired Race Horse Veterinarian and racehorse orthopedic surgeon. In the 90"s the royal family of Abu Dhabi contacted my father and wanted him to come and treat their horses. He went over three times. Then they wanted him to move there and become their full-time vet. They offered a huge amount of money. My mom said now. They were not leaving Texas.
