I’m having a hard time getting on board with the 8.6, I can maybe see some subsonic advantage but if I’m going supersonic and in an AR10 platform, why not 308? Any thoughts between supersonic 8.6 and 308?
@@thegundungeon other than being able to use the same gun and just swap a mag on the fly to change between suppressed and super loads. 😉.
So far I’m getting 1900fps safely out of my 8” with the 185gr CX. Are you planning on doing a gel test with those soon?
@@Cajun-Commando No, I don’t have any of the 185gr CX. At almost $1 per bullet, I can’t cover all the options. Lol.
I love the 8.6 BO load developement. Keep the knowledge coming but if you will take a request, can you do some testing on 6MM Max?
@@reconrc1787 if I was set up for that I would. I’m eyeballs deep in 6ARC already though. 😂
@@kentuckyrangetimeany plans to try the 185gr CX?
@@krulewicz18 I don’t think so. So far, of what I’ve tested the CX is not performing as well as the TTSX. That may change at longer distances where the velocity is dropping off but the 1/3 twist up close just seems to shear the petals off the CX.
@@kentuckyrangetime But that is also true of the TTSX, they shed petals also. I don't think there is any one magic bullet, but the CX can put down game.
If you're doing any cast subsonic loads, look into casting your lead with tungsten powder to add weight. Especially in the nose.
You can copper plate them too, if you're worried about the Tungsten scratching up your bore.
@@BuckF0eJiden not planning to cast for these but that’s still great info!! 👍🏻👊🏻
Please re run it with a Barnes ttsx
@@MK9-VGI 2 Barnes test are posted. 😉
Thanks again.
Have you done any testing with the 185gr Barnes? Tsx or ttsx.
I have be searching around today for 160- 185 gr mono bullets available in Australia.
I came across 160gr copper outer edge bullets made in Australia, I might get a box or two of those .
To me it looks like 1:3 twist is really hard on projectiles.
@@concernedaussie1330 I’ve not seen those weights available when shopping. And, yes, 1/3 is really hard on bullets. Lol
@kentuckyrangetime ok.
They have both tipped & non tipped 185 gr , both are boat tail. They are available over here @ au$150+ per 50 .
That's bloody expensive.
All of the 160gr, including the Aussie made ones, are flat base .
The outer edge ( Aussie one ) & hornady cx are about AU $110 / 50.
I suppose that 1:3 is a double-edged sword.
We can't have suppressors over here, so 1:3 twist is kinda unnecessary.
160-185gr pushed as fast as I can is my goal.
You have the speed - twist rate to deal with. Anyway, mate, have a great day .
This is the same lunacy you people did with the 300 blk. These platforms were designed for subsonic armor penetration. Why can't people just leave them alone and use them for what they were designed for...quiet hostage rescue!
Bc science n we want to see what's viable in loading different rounds.
Do you also test the CX 185grain?
@@dengsde I’ve not seen the 185 available yet.
I have some 225 CX bullets, but I pulled them and reloaded some 185s. Mainly the reason I did that was because the CX use a lighter bullet than TTSX. They do work well, but I think the 225 could be a bit big...but there is no question in regard to being used for hunting that slug is going to take any game in NA.
why not purchase some of the SIG .277 Fury hybrid loads and resize them? Ive seen quite a few people doing it but staying within chamber pressure limits.
If you're staying within 62000 PSI why would you want hybrid cases?
