    For those interested in this monitor: please be aware that this monitor seems to suffer from a production issue where affected panels are damaged with scratches over the entire width of the monitor. I went through multiple replacements, but 3/3 monitors (all produced May '24) suffered from this issue in varying degrees. My model from July '24 does not have any scratches, but does have some green bleed at the bottom part of the monitor. Not really the kind of quality control issues you expect from a top-of-the-line monitor meant for video editing.

    This video was very useful to me. I’m in the middle of upgrading my hardware and finally settled on a PowerSpec G476 with a i9-14900DKF processor and a Nvidia 4090 GPU. On the basis of this review I bought the U4025QW as my monitor and I LOVE IT! You’re right, it’s great for video editing, color correction, character animation, scoring, name it. Thanks for this review! I only wish I’d had this monitor before I upgraded.
    Any suggestions or reviews for scoring and/or sound effects libraries?

    • @JohnSmith-me4ik
      @JohnSmith-me4ik 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! May I ask how good the speakers are on the monitor?

    • @miketully9905
      @miketully9905 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JohnSmith-me4ik Sure! They’re “ok” I guess. I did have to wander around through the settings to get the volume up above a whisper, and although the really wide monitor is fabulous for scoring, the speakers you’re asking about are definitely NOT. If you’re going to be scoring, or doing any sound design you’re definitely going to need to add speakers that are a hell of a lot more accurate. I’d shop for some good studio monitor speakers in that case. I often use an old pair of Alienware wireless headphones if I’m relaxing to music or playing games late at night. It really depends on what you’re using them for. But I wouldn’t use them for anything where accuracy is a concern. For example I wouldn’t use the built in speakers of this monitor to place sound FX within 3 dimensional space. What you wind up with might be WAY off when listened to on any other speakers.
      That help?

    Great review! I'm just a retired software developer who can't stay off the computer. I've done video editing, but not professionally. I just bought this monitor on sale on Amazon for a little over $1,600. I'm not a gamer either but thought I might try some non-violent games in the near future. I have a 4 year old Lenovo gaming laptop that I connect thru Thunderbolt 3 using the supplied Thunderbolt 4 cable. I am able to get 5120 x 2160 at 60 Hz but not at 120 Hz. A Lenovo support rep said that my laptop/video card is not powerful enough. This is where I don't know much. I wish I had this information before I bought it. I don't want to have to buy another machine just to use the monitor at its full capabilities.

    Thank you so much for a quality review of this monitor. I have been excited about this monitor since it was introduced at CES this year. It's taken quite some time for reviews to come out though. I'm glad to see the price has come in at $1800 instead of the $2300 price point that was been talked about.

    Been eyeing for this monitor for months now! This looks perfect for me as a programmer and college CS student. Planning on doing productivity/coding most of the time and gaming is definitely a plus in my book. I am planning on getting the u3223qe on top of this monitor and u2723qe as a vertical monitor. What do you think about this setup?

    I just ordered mine today after watching this video and few others.
    I use a Dell Ultrasharp 4k 27" and i love it for day to day usage: coding, youtube, browsing, movies and also gaming.
    So because I love 4k and the sharp and colorfully image on my monitor I didnt want to give up on thiis. As for gaming I like simracing so I wanted also a curved wide monitor. And I wanted also to have more refresh rate even if my current GPU can't render 4k High details gaming. I game mostly 2K for now.
    But end of this year I will upgrade also to a more powerfull GPU.

    I wonder when Dell's sale ended on this monitor. Nearly every review in the last month says it's $1800, but I just started looking last week and it's been $1919. I've been debating between this and the Samsung 57" to get a 4k ultrawide. I ended up buying the Samsung cause I could just go get it from Best Buy, but I'm still not convinced and have 60 days to return.
    I actually LOVE using windows 11's new snapping options to split it into 3 windows on the 32:9 monitor. 16:9 in the middle and two 8:9 screens on the side. One of the biggest selling points to ultrawides is treating it like side by side monitors, but also having it wide enough that you can get a center focused window and still have space on each side for discord/browser/notes. I feel like a 21:9 is a better full screen game experience, but trying to fit more windows side by side on the smaller screen often forces some apps/sites into mobile mode. Gah, I want the Dell, but 32:9 lol... or a QD-OLED 32:9.

      I used to have a triple monitor setup with 2 Dell g3223qs and a lenovo y32. After using these for a year the setup was simply too big for me and i decided to sell the setup and get an ultrawide. Got a used odyssey g9 neo 49 mini led and while gaming was lovely, I simply couldn't look at text during work. Immediately got rid of it after less than a day.
      Video on my channel of me gaming on the ultrawide for reference.
      So it's as they say, after 4k you can't go lower. If you have never used 4k, you should be happy with the Samsung.

    This monitor looks awesome, but I don't know if I need that. I edit on DaVinci Resolve (+ some gaming before going to bed), and think that my perfect setup would be:
    - A UltraWide monitor for timelines and also gaming (34", 38" or 40"; 4k is enough and maybe a bit too much for gaming (I think 1440p should be enough), great response time : at least 1ms, and at least 144hz, with good color accuracy and contrast ratio)
    - with a second monitor stacked on top of it that I use for clean feed. And that's the one that need to be really good (32'', 16/9, 4 or 5k resolution with great color accuracy, and nice contrast, 10bit).
    I"m afraid that this monitor would be too much for gaming (at 5k ultrawide, I don't think even a 4090 is gonna be enough).

TB4 connection drops randomly disconnecting wired ethernet and most annoyingly in the middle of conf call. Only way to restore it by switching on/off monitor power. How embarrassing output from a £1.8k product. TB also stops PD to laptop. Otherwise it could have been an excellent buy. Dell support proved to be joke. They have been dragging troubleshooting beyond 14 day cooling off period for return so that online support team can wash their hand with it. They don’t even want to share a complain procedure.

    I think people who are looking for an "endgame" monitor should avoid this product at the moment. LG has announced they're planning on making 5120x2160 OLED panels in the next year or two, at 240Hz as well, and potentially using their "dual mode" feature to be able to switch to 2560x1080 at 480Hz. That will absolutely blow this IPS panel out of the water. Still a very tempting product, and I know buyers should generally avoid worrying about the shinier, better product around the corner... but if you're waiting for that "perfect monitor" and don't absolutely need to drop that money on a monitor right this second, I think waiting for an OLED will help avoid the extreme buyer's remorse people will feel.

    Good video as always but it would be nice to consider the broke folks that cant shell out over 1500 for a monitor. edit, ooh btw tech and people always change so never mind what anyone has to say about what you already said long before you experienced it firsthand, lol
