How do you maintain core for a whole workout session

    • @fit2function528

Your core is an endurance muscle group, so you have to build up the endurance to keep it engaged. You may only be able to keep it working for a minute to start. But as you keep reminding yourself it will stay engaged longer and longer.

Great great video! I do understand the slight pelvic tilt helps in engaging that core... but it's Just impossible for me to do that when I am doing HIIT... like say high knee taps or mountain climbers... you got any tips or advice on how to maintain that pelvic tilt in addition to breathing normally while doing such workouts???

Thanks for watching and your questions. It is a difficult move to maintain while exercising. The key to it is, to build up the endurance in those lower stomach muscles, to a point that they naturally engage in your everyday life. Once you have that type of control it makes it easier to be aware of it while you are working out. Because yes you want to keep them engaged while you workout but, what you really want to be aware of is when your body is starting to fatigue and going into failure. And the 1st sign of fatigue with any exercise is your core disengaging. Which should happen, and when it does it is a sign for use to tighten up for the last few reps or take a break. You can keep pushing but the work that your stomach muscles were doing has to go somewhere and it goes straight to your back. So in summary, gain the core endurance for everyday life, and use it to indicate fatigue and protect your back in the gym.

So, in everyday life, when we walking or sitting and relaxing, do we need to engage the core, stacking ribs over pelvis and 360 breathing? Is that normal breathing for humans. Because, when I breath in relaxed mode, my ribs flared up a little and i can't breath 360?

Of course, it may be difficult to do that while waking or running. But you want to develop this habit for many activities, eg lifting things, even light things; while standing; bending over, sitting down etc. You don’t have to get obsessed, but if you strive to develop this habit as much and as often as possible, you’ll achieve both: you’ll get comfortable bracing core, it will become natural for you and you’ll develop correct biomechanics. Dr. Stuart McGill always stresses the importance of moving correctly in every day activities. If you haven’t listened to him yet, check him out for back health etc.

How can you apply this while overweight and unable to feel the muscles from poking your stomach? I want to do it properly breathing and tightening my core however my foundation is crap. Please help I want to be completely healthy and I'm wanting my form to be correct for the first time. I've always been able to lose weight but I don't believe I've ever had the breathing and core muscles tightened properly. Please help

How do you not understand? Basically tuck/tilt your hips under you so your bum doesn't stick out like donald duck.
