very nice discussion.all panelists spoke very well.Good to see Mr.Wilson on your show, the man who literally given everything out of his life for the noble cause of eradicating manual scavenging in india. But as our 'tradition' follows,we always failed to recognise the real social workers. We get to know about them whenever some foreign agency recongnise or give award to them like in case of Mr.Wilson. It is the 'apathy' of our governments because of which this very inhuman, derogatory and unacceptable thing like manual scavenging is going on. A big thanks to RSTV for bringing a person who has got magsaysay award on this very issue which has been discussed.
Alankar Shirsath ask them not to do that job..who r forcing them to do that job ..putting reservations, stipends, reservations in promotions, scholarships aside if still they r doing that job it is on their wish n will..yes stop reservations
Govt Never provide Jobs every year. There are rules for govt to intake work force there is fixed in the rules. Simply govt will not invest in employees. They have there own rules for taking workforce.
Alankar Shirsath see everyone have their own conditions. .in india where poor , middle classes are high everyone has their own pathos story..it is upto the person to develop in life. .rather than waiting for alms n begging the government for jobs let us provide jobs n explore our inner.by the way no country in this world can provide 2cr jobs per year .
United territorian I have that much common sense unilke the one promised 2 crore jobs every year. And if the government can't provide jobs, at least they can provide alternative to manual scavenging by introducing technology in cleaning.
1. In short term: provision of safety equipments to the manual scavengers. 2. In long term: Adaptation technological means to eradicate the manual savenging + Devaluation more power /Funds to Local govts helping organisethe drainage lines. 3.Encouraging Bio toilets in every sphere where organised drainage system is not possible due to scattered or unorganised dwellings. 4. Census of Manual scavengers must be undertaken and working out solutions for their rehabilitation and upliftment. Targeted reservations should be carved out from the consolidated entitlement to and monitor how many are actually getting the benefit of it. These are the people who really need the hanging fruits of Reservations to uplift them in short time and not the wards of Class A officers.
Bezawada sir,ur valid points and the way u elocuted them show that u really feel for the manual scavengers.indeed,u r a very good speaker.keep it up.the country needs people like u who can become voice of the helpless.
Govt should come up with proper guidelines for manual scavengers. It should improve the living conditions of them with dignity.Encourage people who r coming up with new technologies by providing financial assistance
Wow. Super impressed with this anchor! He's so much better than those loudmouths on private news channels. Well done, Mr. Pereira. Hope for more anchors like you.
People say that so and so will happen over a period of time. 70 years of independence and we still have millions of people as manual scavengers. This needs to be completely eradicated now, not over a period of time. Mr Wilson and Mr Krishna gave great points. Thank you rstv
Great debate. The debate touched on many points such as needs of holistic & efficient planning of schemes, importance of the dimension of sanitation in flagship schemes like smart city mission, deficiencies in Swachh Bharat Mission, the decades old evil of manual scavenging and its effects, strengthening the local self governments, short term and long term measures to solve the problem etc. All the panelist were good and placed their opinions in clear way. A little more detailed discussion on the technological aspect - innovation and viability would have been nice. Overall- a informative and constructive debate.
Manual scavengers , our society treating very badly...also government not provide the safety equipment.. also not uplifting permanent job..their work contract basis.....also people not respect their work...our people very lazy...segregation waste,...also waste water treatment plant...im really happy Rstv to discussed marginalised people problem....
The manual scavenging is blot on Indian society where ages-old, humiliating and condemn-able practice still exist violating the basic human rights and Indian fundamental rights. Bureaucracy, local administration failed miserably and ‘Political will’ is still missing on this - similar to non-passage of ‘women empowerment’ bill etc. because of political compulsions. Mr. Wilson’s brought the ground realities to the fore and other panelists added value. We should not just see the problem merely ‘urbanized’ rather rural where ill-practices are grossly prevalent. Thanks RSTV for such discussions and helping the masses’ opinion-building, role of technological & administrative interventions and psyche-change to disestablish the ‘differences’ in society to make a NEW India.
Gist: Not developed the technology. Never identified the scavengers , yet after so many surveys. Newer and local technology. And awareness, participation among people. Biotiolets can help a lot. 1993 first legislation to ban manual scavenging. Psyche of indian society that dalits are used to cleaning is also regressive . Smart cities ,too, have not this in consideration. The least that can be done is provide them safety equipments.
Very good program Wilson sir raised problems and others panelists suggestions are also true but we need to do on political and societal stage more and have sympathy for manual scavenger and their rehabilitation and good job opportunities on permanent basis required rather than contract
Nature is best tutor how it works from back-end.. only investment models everywhere! Viability of every project should be checked before it's implementation ..but we address with problems when met at emergency and thus not able to work on long term plans...n results are evident! lol to demographic dividend
true...Itz govt...other authorities...works 24*7 fr th same...implementing plans since independence....der must hav soln..as western countries hav.....as mr. wilson said...role n will of visionary political masters matters a lot....fr our "NEW INDIA"
Vishal Chaturvedi I won't judge u by this statement. But u must understand why in the first place reservation was brought in. Even today in USA black tax is paid as reperation for all sins committed against blacks...Though they are much much better off compared to dalits and other reserved categories in our country. Yes it is true equality in competition must be ensured but more importantly those who r not allowed to rise up the ladder have to be given support via affirmative action.....Just look at stats of how many daliye have been in top bracket since independence.....Saying they r not competent enough is in itself discriminatory Must not forget even after civil war against 2 centuries of discrimination usa has not improved.....We had discrimination ranging for more than 2500 years. It would be right to talk on reforms in reservation but complete eradication is nothing less than playing at hands of beneficiaries of such discussion
Shaurya Sinha ..Bhai sarkar tax le le.... But jaan to mat le... Sala yeh general category ka tag to gf se shadi v nahi hone dega... No job - no life- no wife- we have to die... 😁😁😁😁#humour #no_offence #peace
+Shaurya Sinha brother even I won't judge but let me tell u a basic point that even a kid can understand if someone gets 50Rs per month and then after years u ask his generations to give up they won't give up that amount and here its reservation they will never evr give up I am not saying that I am anti reservation but u can't deny the fact that it have helped a lot of families and my objection is wid them only if ur well off then why u need reservation why not pass it to the one who really needs it but in India if u speak something about reservation u will be tagged as Anti Dalit and u speak about UCC u will be tagged as Anti Muslim period
Bro I am also in general category......Reservation has become a scapegoat for any government in power......Main problem is they r not able to create more jobs and r not filling up the current allotted seats....Police has vacancies of 3 lakh, judiciary in 10s of thousands, etc.......The main thing is we feel dejeCted because their cutoff is much lower .....But this will happen....In reserved category also there will be candidates who will take unwanted benefit of the system .... That's why in few jobs there is reservation at cutoff around zero and this has to be curbed........But we must realize it persists in other category as well.. Just luk around at professors and u would have realized most do not deserve to be even peons irrespective of caste......Hence we must patiently understand this and demand for reforms so that all the deprived sections including the castes can be benefitted.... Do read various case studied
+Shaurya Sinha and looks like ur demand for reform will be fulfilled isn't it nothing is going to change in near future instead of giving low merits why not give them same standard of education from starting itself and to add more pain reservation will be provided in promotions I still wonder how will they defend this reservation in promotion
Technology and safety must be made available for the manual scavengers with extra high payment. Even though Hygiene and sanitation is a indirect part of "right to life" people should learn and cooperate with gov. to enjoy the right.
you don't have common sense to appreciate his generousness . Look at yourself first that what you have done for society. don't speak without knowing someone
You are a sitting failure . Shame upon you . Your ignorance is reflected by your comment on bezwada Wilson. Instead of Facebook read about BEZWADA WILSON . Shame upon you , a failure
This Bezwada Wilson was of absolutely no use ... Only rhetorical speeches, nothing substantial ... Please don't invite him .... Overall also a bad episode. UPSC aspirants can avoid.
He's the representative of Safai Karamcharis and he has raised pertinent issues from that perspective. A Little Rhetoric is meant to be there when a person belongs to a group which has had to face the apathetic attitude of all sections of the Society. And i think you're not fully content with the CSE syllabus to avoid a discussion like this.
He raised a valid point how when we are seeing Technological advancements in every field, we're still clueless about how we can eradicate manual scavenging.

dhiraj bankar , great
Salute to Bezwada Wilson! His restless efforts will definitely bring the sunshine in the life of manual Scavengers one day.
Manual scavenging is the only job in which there is 100% reservation for Schedule Caste and in this case no one will criticise Reservation.
Alankar Shirsath ask them not to do that job..who r forcing them to do that job ..putting reservations, stipends, reservations in promotions, scholarships aside if still they r doing that job it is on their wish n will..yes stop reservations
United territorian their condition is forcing them to do this job and like me even they are waiting for 2 crore jobs every year.

Decentralized approach could work here. Empowering local government with proper monitoring could work and hats off to Mr Wilson

+Vamsi Krishna Reddy Mudumala u didn't get my point
I never meant it's discussion in big picture
Also allow private sector in it.
Thnkss ..rstv .
Mr wilson is totally pro one sided and don't have solution
Nice discussion
But most of people don’t have good job so they are ready to work this and most of them vulnerable... Education and awareness is basic solution

well done is better than well said.

Very bad episode; especially because of Mr Wilson. He could not stop himself from bringing a caste angle here.
Apna toilet khud saf kare first and for public use technology.
Wilson should join AajTak, ABP, etc.... Shouting is in trend there.
