Just wanna applaud the local reporting here too. That broadcaster spoke about battered women’s syndrome, showed evidence, spoke to the right people, and displayed how the state’s laws are not doing enough to protect DV victims. Solid work.

I just want to give a compassionate reminder that on average it takes a victim 7 attempts to leave their abuser before they successfully do so. We don't know what will happen to her now, and when he gets out, and we can only hope that she will stay in a place where she is safe, and loved. Abuse is complicated and I hope with everything I have that this is the end of the road for her.
I really hope she's in a place where he doesn't know how to get to her. If there is no contact possible, I think, she might be able to start healing.

@@TarisLuna Absolutely. I hope her family fights tooth and nail to protect her and give her resources to help her heal. I am worried about legal ties with the pregnancy and a marriage, and that those things require contact to sort out. She needs a community to keep her safe.
@@miranda266 you know he’s gonna try his hardest even from jail to manipulate her. Drown her in paper work and try to say she’s unfit. I can’t even imagine. Just dealing with manipulation and abusive people just wears you down. And I’m praying so hard for her and her family that they can stay strong from this scum bucket of a man.
Hopefully his time in jail gives her enough of a reprieve to realize she's better off without him. I know from experience that after so many years, we forget what freedom and security feel like. We almost become more comfortable in the chaos and abuse than we do in peaceful loving environments. Going home was probably a shock to her system. I hope she and her baby remain safe and protected. I'm not a believer but I'm certainly not above praying for the best possible outcome for her and anyone else in an abusive situation.

I remember seeing the first videos Repzion posted about him and thought, “wow, I hope this is fake..” but hearing this news made my stomach ache. That poor woman has been through so much. I hope she has the strength to stay away from him and she and her baby can live a happy, peaceful, and healthy life.

I really hope he gets the full year and during that year his ex partner can wake up so to speak and begin healing, and I hope her baby is safe and healthy even if she decides being a single mom (especially after everything that happened to her) would be too difficult for her. I hope neither of them ever have to look at this disgusting human ever again.
If she is anything like a family member of mine, she will likely just obsess over getting to contact him or write him letters while he is in jail. Abusers like this make you feel like you are no one and nothing without them. She would likely be scared, alone, and feeling that she is without security with him gone.
I know that when I was in an abusive relationship I felt like I was incapable of making basic decisions when my ex went to jail (which I was manipulated to believe about myself).
The only thing that could help is if a large support group came to spend time with her and convince her to seek treatment for the obvious PTSD she has experienced in this relationship.

The moment he gets out. He is going to beat on her possibly even worse because in his eyes she is the one who put him in this situation.
When I was pregnant with my now 18 month old daughter, my ex was heavily abusing opiates without my knowledge and also refused to take his bipolar medication. His mood swings were really extreme and he would often berate me but one time it got really bad so I talked back to him and he just grabbed me by back of my neck throwing me into the wall and continued to punch me in the head. Every time I would try to get up he would just push me back down on the floor and I ended up hitting my stomach on the washer in the hallway. He left shortly after that, breaking the glass door, and I had my brother come get me. I actually had to go to the hospital because I was so upset and sore that I started bleeding and feared losing my baby. Both baby and I were okay but due to the high levels of stress I was under and the morning sickness that would last all day, I was put on bed rest for the remaining 2 months of my pregnancy and the doctor had to induce me early. Now it’s just me and my girl but I couldn’t be happier ❤️ When you’re a mother, the fear of losing your child or exposing them to an abusive parent is much more terrifying than leaving an abusive partner. I hope that this young woman will come to this same conclusion and find safety for her and her baby 🙏🏻
My sincere thank you to the person who called it in. It seems obvious, but without them, who knows how much longer it would've taken.
If nothing else comes of this at least the family was able to find their daughter again. Hopefully she stays with them and away from his evilness.

The majority of battered women still have to allow the father access to their children..unless he has actually harmed the kid! There are cases of men who are in prison for killing their wife and there are orders for the kids to be brought for visitation to the dad in prison.
@@PrimateProductions depends on the state, I guess... I know a father who only met their kid recently for the first time in ~12 years because he turned 18 and the RO that his mom had placed when the son was ~6 no longer applied.

I'm honestly shocked it took *this* long to get him arrested. He put it out there for everyone to see that he's an abuser through and through. Why did this take so long?! It's not like this was behind the scenes or being hidden at all! So glad she is with family now and he's in jail. She better also get a restraining order against him for whenever he's out.

The people voted for it. In 2019 the state reclassified all crimes as violent or non violent in order to reduce their prison population. Many people in office were against this but it was voted on by the citizens.

This reminds me of the whole Marilyn Manson/Evan Rachel Wood situation. These men are openly and unapologetically trash and get away with it! The evidence has always been documented out in the open, right in front of our faces. No one thinks twice or takes their behavior serious, until it's too late. Despite this, people are still shocked and outraged by their abusive behavior. The worst part is, they will probably face minimal to no repercussions.

When I was 14/15, I was befriended by James! We used to talk everyday and then one day when I was 16, I realized what he was doing was wrong. He was traveling all around and ended up where I lived. I truly believe that if I didn’t stop talking to him, something horrible would’ve happened.
I pray that Kaitlin finds peace with her family. And I HOPE to GOD that James gets that max sentence + more.

A girl I worked with was emotionally and mentally abused by her ex baby daddy. He got arrested and she moved in with her sister, she was away from him, everything was going right for her. Then one day she asks me if she should bail him out. I said god no, are you crazy? Well she did. Now they’re both in jail for killing her newborn and abusing and neglecting her two toddlers. Everything was looking up for her until she bailed him out. Before he got arrested he would even come into her job with the woman he cheated with just to make her feel bad. And she went back :(

I am really scared for her. If the max is a year, he likely will get less than that, Ive been in an abusive relationship and was really messed up, it takes a LONG time to recover from the feedback loop of blaming yourself that they ingrain into your mind. a year is not going to be enough time for her to genuinely heal and not be a risk to go back, think of it like an addiction. The judge here has an opportunity to save her by giving him enough time behind bars that she is able to reform herself and heal. But the judge is going to have his hands tied by this law saying the max is only 1 year. The next time we hear about this guy might be when he kills her.
I just hope her family gets her somewhere, where he never finds her.

In my country a court can take away a father's rights to the kid before the kid is born, if he's proven to be a danger to the kids physical / mental health. This here would be the case because he's abusive to her and generally a manipulater. She would have to go to a lawyer or our version of cps with that, but the chances are pretty high, he would get his parental rights taken away.
@@sarabobara8458 she needs to petition for permanent termination of his parental rights. Use the conviction to help. It would be easier if he was convicted of a federal crime, but it could be her only chance to ensure he can't use the child as a pawn. He seems the type to vanish with the child the moment he has the chance. Not because he wants or loves the baby, but because he wants to cause as much harm to the mother as possible.
He's gonna get worked over in prison when what he did/has done comes to light for the other prisoners.

I hope her parents can keep her safe. I think she was involved with some church youth group before leaving with Saroka and sometimes church groups can be very in your face especially if they see you are kinda lost in any way. I'm not 100% sure it's her but she shares the same name and looks very alike to the woman in the pictures of the group. If it is her and she is back home with her family they have the decency to leave her be for now.
I just hope the State will get a Restraining Order on James for Kate.
The victim has to file a protective order on their own in ok, but when/if the assailant is released on bond the judge places a no contact order. That is at least what happened to me in ok
As in survivor I’m narcissistic abuse, I truly hope this guy gets treated with the same respect he showed his pregnant girlfriend over the years, when he’s sitting in jail.

@Quinn Violet Olivia Kait had never left Jim, she had been with him 24/7 since they ran away back in March of 2019. Jim has lied about Kait having left in the past, this is the first time she’s been separated from him in almost 3 years.
@Gina Powell Kait’s parents drove to Oklahoma as fast as they could to get Kait so she is back home. As for them being “crazy & abusive”, those were slanderous lies put out by Jim, and it’s impossible to know what the parents are really like based on only 2 videos that mom put out.

I'll bet the Oklahoma DA has more leeway to prosecute him thru grifter/scammer laws than domestic battery (sad, but true), so hopefully his legal troubles are far from over. I suppose several nasty letters from your viewers alone could probably get some legislation for change on DV laws rolling in that state.

I’m from Oklahoma, and the DV laws are just absolutely terrible. Sadly I’ve been in that position, unless the cops see the perp hitting you via camera or in person, it’s not considered assault.
I really hope Kaitlin gets help outside of her family from some kind of therapy or group therapy. As a survivor of domestic violence myself I feel that she is going to need a lot of support to find herself again and become strong enough to stay away from him. I am not sure she will find enough of that support just from family although I hope they can offer her the help and solid grounding she is going to need to encourage her not to go back to him.
If ANYONE bonds him out, they need to go to jail too.
Question in regards to their child. If she does go back to him and they continue to E beg and live out of the car, CPS would get involved? I really hope so.

What's going to be bad is what comes next. These types get very angry and vindictive when they lose their victim. It's going to be even harder to keep him away because of the baby. He will get out and head directly to her family home. I hope she can get resources that will help keep her hidden and safe. I really fear for her, the baby, her family and friends who are trying to help her. He might well prove very dangerous

I really hope Kaitlin wakes up so to speak. I'm a domestic violence surviver and it takes a LONG time to heal. I dated him for seven years and we broke up in 2008. I still have nightmares and PTSD to this day.
I remember watching your videos about him. I can't believe it's taken this long, and that he may only get a year (if anything), but hopefully he does. It will probably take a year for his girlfriend to figure things out and get her own thought process back, so she can realize what he did to her was wrong. Right now she is probably upset with everyone for taking him away from her. It's heartbreaking how people can allow others to control them. I know it's done systematically, but it never ceases to surprise me how a person can give up their own rights and capabilities to another person because they love and worship them.

I truly hope that he is never allowed anywhere near her or the baby. Her family should file a restraining order against him for her sake. I also really think that the county needs to change their DV laws and place a harsher sentence on anyone who is arrested for it. 1 year is not enough. It should be much longer. He should be permanently banned from any online platform he had and get blacklisted by the rest of society.

My ex husband was arrested for beating me while pregnant. And they asked him if he knew I was pregnant, since he did it changed from a misdemeanor dv assault a FELONY dv assault on a pregnant female.
This was in Florida.
They let him go on ROR (released on own recognice meaning no cost)

I hope you and any little ones are safe now 💚 someone I love dearly almost lost her life in a similar situation. Her ex was also set free and subsequently didn't show up to his court hearings, and they did nothing. He's still a free man out here walking around living his best life. I always worry about her, and anyone else in this kind of situation. Unfortunately, it's just so devastatingly common.

Thank you guys for the support. It's been a long four almost five years since I left, I relocated States. And just last Wednesday the divorce was finally finalized. Two-and-a-half years later after this incident, a judge gave me a restraining order, and I have full custody of our child.

as someone with two parents who have narcissistic personality disorder and as someone who was subjected to that abuse all of my years as a minor, i have to say this dude definitely appears to be a narcissist to me.
If anyone's wondering, Oklahoma was considering just last year to reclassify Domestic Abuse as a violent crime under SQ 805.
It failed by a wide margin, as it's main goal was to force the courts to stop increasing the maximum amount of prison time for defendants who have been convicted of a nonviolent felony in the past and are then found guilty of at least one more.
