Just wanted to point out that you can indeed play cross-server. I believe in ranked, gold room is when you start playing against players on other regions. You can also play with other people in friendlies, you just cannot add them to your friend list or message them ingame.
From time to time, I come back to watch your Mahjong video tutorials, im really grateful, and i really appreciate it through the year for each time i review the tutorials. I wish I could see more advanced tutorials from you.
Thank you very much for coming back and I'm glad my videos are helpful for you! I'll get to doing some more advanced stuff eventually, but I'm not exactly a pro (or even that good at the game tbh) so there'll be a limit to what I can cover!
@JouzuJuls believe me, that would help too, especially for beginners as me. You have a gift of good teacher skills with that clear vocal of yours too, even if you took from others' advance mahjong teachings or knowledge. 😁
Thank you, Ive always wanted to play mahjong but I could never really properly learn it, this video introduces me to the basic concepts of the game, the concise explanations provided with examples help solidify and allow me to understand the concept 👍. I’m not used to writing comments so mine sounds a little weird 😭
Your comment isn't weird at all! I'm glad this video was able to teach you the basic concepts of the game! It's really not that hard once you start getting into it step by step! :D
Watching so i can get the yakuza 0 achievement and i have to say you male this so easy to understand i salute you my good man. I actually am starting to win on the advance bots might even play pvp thanks man.
Since there'll be a collab with Blue Archive, a lot of my friends want to play mahjong soul. Every time there's someone who ask how to play riichi mahjong, since I can't explain it very well, i always give this video to them. Thank you for making this tutorial easy to understand
I installed Riichi City and the game forced me to play ranked with other people when I didn't even understand the rules of the game, thank you for this guide!
Gahhh! Sounds scary to get matched up like that! Hopefully the others you were playing with also had no idea what they were doing so you can have the upper hand on them now! 😂😂
I love this video. Thank you! The tutorial in the game left me more confused than enlightened, but your breakdowns helped me understand what I didn't before.
Thanks for pointing out the 2-4-6 strat. I constantly got stuck on having a "closed" straight and waiting for a single tile. The idea of having that leapfrog thing never occurred to me. One day I will get Thirteen Orphans without using that cheat tile.
If I ever play Riichi mahjong IRL with other people I'm actually scared I'm going to accidentally just scream "RON!" really loud by accident and they just burst into tears
@@JouzuJuls and someone else is literally one tile away from a rare yaku and you've already revealed your hand and stuff and it's all just really awkward
Thanks for sharing this! A lot of my Chinese friends talked about mahjong but I never really tried. A few hours I watched your video, I decided to try it :) I played 3 games but didn't win any of them. So fun tho!! xD
Nice! Chinese Mahjong is a bit different to Japanese Mahjong shown in this video but the core principles are the same. Glad you enjoyed your game and understood what's going on!
This might be the backbone to getting the mahjong achievements in the yakuza games, cause any other guide I find from ppl who play the game don’t know how to actually play the game😭 the biggest bit I hav to wrry abt is rng
YO MAN THATS AWESOME, SERIOUSLY. REALLY MEAN IT You have a talent to break down and explain stuff. It's that too much to ask if you could do another japanese games? For example, I would love you to do HANAFUDA for example Anyway thanks, I have been struggling to understand mahjong for half a year now
I'm glad you found this video helpful! If you mention HANAFUDA Imma just bet you played Yakuza and went ???? like me 🤣 Unfortunately, I'm no good at Hanafuda and barely remember the rules so I think I won't be doing that. The only reason I'm making Mahjong videos in the first place is because I'm actually addicted to it like crack bruh 😂😂
@@JouzuJuls hhahahah well more or less, I also was researching some stuff about the past of Nintendo and just discovered Hanafuda (but yeah, yakuza has a huge part on it) But hey, could you introduce us to more rules? I think if you do like little by little (" hey guys in this video we gonna learn what is pon") stuff like this, that would be amazing. I want to play this so much, mahjong IS THE GAME OF THE OUTLAW AND GANGSTARS
hello! i just started, and apparently there's this thing called "yaku"? from what i see you need to have a certain pattern to win, and one of the easiest is just to "not have a 1 or 9 man/pin" ?
Crazy how easy it is when I watch tutorials but I keep getting overwhelmed by the game. Whenever I tsumo or ron someone I get a low amount of points while other players usually get much more. So I usually win 2nd or 3rd by praying not to get roned or tsumoed. Is this because I only aim for the simple yaku (no terminals and such) and so I might need to memorize other yakus?
Yup, memorizing other Yakus is one part of getting better. The other, harder part, is being able to see what has a higher percentage of success and choosing higher percentage options. For example, knowing the pattern "23456" will allow you to tenpai for 1, 4, and 7 at the same time- that's a much higher chance of winning than a simple 3, 6 tile wait.
The song is from Epidemic Sound (affiliate link): www.epidemicsound.com/campaign/invite-a-creator/?_us=Referral&_usx=x0q4r2& The title of the song is "Chased by Chasers" by John Runefelt
Thanks! Absolutely. I'll make a more detailed video on the cases where you SHOULD call pon and chii later but here's the gist. . The winning criteria is actually NOT JUST 4 sets and a pair. You must also have a "Yaku". . A "Yaku" gives you han (points). For example, having a full flush (all tiles same suite) is a Yaku that's worth 6 han. There are many different yakus to remember and they reward different scores. "All simples" for example, is another yaku, but this only rewards 1 han. . Riichi is actually a Yaku worth 1 han. However you cannot call Riichi if you called Pon or Chii since your hand would then be "open". . This means that should a beginner call pon/chii recklessly and open their hand, and they don't know any Yaku- it makes it literally impossible for them to win because they will have no Yaku (unless they happen to have a yaku by chance).
Yo! Not at all, I've just been having lots of fun with Mahjong for the past year and wanna get more people involved! I'd definately announce the sponsorship if Yostar reaches out to me though 😂

Don't think I've seen a Yakuman either way to be sure
Nope, Browser versions have no Yakuman animations. Gacha gives you effects for calling riichi and stuff, but not Yakuman animations.
I once had a 13 orphans (which if my memory correct a yakuman) on a 3-player East bronze room and no, i didn't see those animations on browser, sadly.
