Being Melbournian, I can confirm our actual "chinatown" is only one street, but basically the entire CBD is full of decent chinese restaurants. Quite a few of the places shown in Mike's video are not actually in chinatown proper, but around the CBD.
Exactly
cbd is one helluva drug
In Australia, we're very proud of our fresh seafood and local beef/lamb/kangaroo 👍
Notice to tourists though, Australian spice heat levels are much higher than American levels!
Because of our wonderful Asian Australian population we've got used to Asian spices 😁
Authentic Asian flavours, Australian quality ingredients 👍
Big respect for blurring out the person in the background at the noodle place tbh. Person just trying to enjoy a meal in peace and you never know with social media. Some person might try to start a fight because someone glanced at you wrong for a split second.
He doesn't always blur people out. I think he does where feasible.
Every time I start a video I end up going to get my own meal to eat along with the video. It's now become a tradition with my partner to sit and watch while we eat a meal 😅
Me and my Ex before this last one would do the same thing. He tried doing this with me, but stopped, and I still do. It's the tradition
I make a meal then come and sit and watch. I'm always so eager to see what Mike has been up to. I love when a new video comes out because I really love to eat and watch :D
Yooooo me toooo some how the food i ate looks good and i have a big appetite because of his videos
Glad I’m not the only one! 😆
Fuggyeah
I love our Queen Victoria Market, it's so awesome! So many different cuisines to choose from 😍
Welcome again t Australia it is expensive but we love seeing famous you tubers come to Australia 🇦🇺 ❤
Actually US and London is a lot more expensive, Aus is not that expensive any longer
@@daveb5374as an Australian, it’s the most unliveable this country has ever been. I doubt UK or US residents have it worse.
@@leeman4499 Have you been to the US recently?
So glad to see you experiencing Melbourne! We have so much amazing food and restaurants here, hope you enjoy your time x
Mikey, aussie here. If you really liked the Pineapple Fritter from McDonalds Australia, treat yourself to Red Rooster and try their Pineapple Fritter, its worlds better, especially with a little bit of their gravy
"I'm actually heading to Tasmania tomorrow"
*screams in Tasmanian*
That fish soup place looks incredible
That mussel place is my fave 🤤
So weird - but also amazing - to see you eating in Aussie venues!
Hope you had a lovely time in Melbourne Mikey!
Mikey, been awhile since I commented. I loved the different places and the food. The fish dishes seemed very nice. You get to eat at the nicest places with the most established food. Thank you for showing another food video. ❤🎉😊
I love it when Mikey says "treemendous" 😆 Market tours are the best!!!
Mike inspired me to go to China to check out their Australia town.
This should be a legit thing, but yet sounds SO wrong 🤣
there's no such thing as Austrailia towns because that would require people leaving Austrailia. Which is illegal.
LOL! I was wondering who else was baffled by this video. You go to Australia to eat Chinese food, honestly I stopped watching after he left the market.
@@marilynalvarez9951 What's he supposed to eat, Kangaroo and fairy bread?
@@TsunamiWombat I can see you don't know much about foods from other countries, perhaps some research will enlighten you or do you go on vacation to other countries to eat at Taco Bell during your stay? Australia is know for their own style of fantastic beef and seafood as you saw him at the market place (if you even saw the video) and yes if he's there eat LOCAL food not the same thing over and over.
The land was gifted to the people of Melbourne by Queen Victoria, hence the name. The fish market is one of the largest retail fish markets anywhere, the the zinc panelled deli area was built in the 1920's and is registered with our National Trust. The market is a living treasure for all of us.
I'm so happy you got to experience my local market
Welcome to Melbourne ma man! We're so lucky to have you here!!
Welcome Mike! Hope you enjoy yourself and get to explore other areas of Australia
The Jackman and McRoss bakery in Battery Point sell the best scallop pie in all of Tassie
Everything looks delicious! 😋
i've been waiting for this guy to go to Melbourne for so long, now i have good idea of some places to go to next time i'm in Melb
Giddy On Up?
That’s what I’m about to do to start my Day😋🍽
It looks so clean
Next time check out Springvale, Prahran, Footscray and Dandenong Markets!
Glad you enjoyed Melbourne i hope you will come back we really do have some amazing food here 🥰☺️
Anytime Mike uploads, its a good day! Man's living the dream.
For sure. !!! And I feel like he's worked hard for what he's got.😊
Thanks for visiting Australia mate 👍🏻 good to have you here! Enjoy your time.
Loving this Melbourne content!
I miss Melbourne! Used to live there few years ago
Went to Fortune Alley, they did not know you had even been there, bless. I swear I went to the same place for 20 years and only the manager knew I had been going there for that long.
We are spoiled when it comes to our seafood, glad you enjoyed it!
20 years ago when I visited Melbourne it was mostly Italian & Greek, China town wasn't that established but now it looks like a good place to visit & eat again plenty of choices of different restaurants & the variety of foods from many different nationalities.
Those mussels are huge!
Ahhh food is life.
I always go the mussels stall in QVM whenever I go to Melbourne.
Great video!
I'M SO HAPPY YOU'RE IN MY CITY
Welcome to Melbourne
AHHHHHHHH YOU CAME TO MY CITY!
Mine too 🤟
Me too :)
I love the fish soup
Welcome to Melbourne 😊
Mate, I love it that you came down under. I hope you totally enjoy Melbourne.
Can’t wait to see where you go to next in Aussie!❤
It's called Australia. An Aussie is a person who was born here or who has citizenship.
Welcome to the best city in the world mate! ❤
I want those mussels in that sauce omg they look so good
My home country ❤
Hi Chong Qing is my favourite place for noodles. Pork mince with chickpeas and a fried egg 👌
Dude I was like yelling “get a scallop pie for the love of God!” 😂
Nice array of food.
Hi Mikey, I cooked your beef brisket noodle soup recipe! Best instructions, so delicious!!! Hope you enjoyed Melb and Tas xx😋😋
Welcome to Melbourne Australia!!! Umm I hope to bump into you and have a great meal while you’re here☺️☺️☺️
This was in Jan/feb
Was in this market in November just gone! And it was amazing 👍🏼😁
nice, you hot some good spots there.
We love your video ❤ and I never had Mussels. L.o.l and Food look Delicious 😋
✌️❤️ great video
Melbourne's amazing on the food scene. You can walk down one street and have 5 to 7 national cuisines all represented.
Yesss siirrrrrrrr🎉🎉🎉
Awesome! Love your videos Mike ❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah nah yeah nah
This food tour looks amazing the food looks hearty and delicious 😋
Yummy
Really? I'm sorry but other than the first 5 min at the market the rest is Mikey having his usual every day Chinese food, nothing "Australian" about this.
oh Australia👍️😊
Do some people ask you to blur them? I notice that at times, but only random groups or individuals.
A lot of seafood you can get fresh in aus and nz especially mussels in most countdowns
Oooo i wish they'd make some congee out of that concentrated broth at the end of the meal
I only just started, but god damn I hope to god you tried the jam (jelly) donuts from the tram/trolley vendor at the markets!!
Mikey, what determines which people in the background get blurred out?
oh welcome to m y home town!
Nice video
Love your videos
❤
Australian dumplings! 🤘🇭🇲🤘
Please come to Perth Western Australia!
I wished I got a chance to see you Mike here at Melbourne.
Adding to must to do list. Thank you for sharing Mike. Great finds.
❤ hi Mike. Lots of love from Asha n Reagan from Trenancemanor Phoenix Durban South Africa
The fish he ate was called a Murray Codd, it’s a borderline endangered species here due to the introduction of the European Carp, so not a lot of places sell it and most of us Aussies will catch and release it, although they are well known for being amazingly beautiful to eat, and the Chocolate powder on his icecream is called Milo, is a chocolatey, Malty course powder that you can mix with milk and make a milkshake, make a hot Chocolate, it’s a Aussie favourite icecream topping, not exactly gourmet, but it’s Australian Nostalgia at at its finest and made me smile.
We need to get rid of carp to save the Murray Cod
Farmed cod mate, not sure if carp have anything to do with our cod numbers.
All I know is our cod numbers are 1000% better than they used to be but that would have to do with fisheries.
They are doing a fantastic job 😊
Have you ever been to Camden Market or Borough Market in London?? sooo good!!! it's all updated now
❤
Although VIC Market is good, South Melbourne Market is the better Market for ready to eat foods, but our Chinatown is definitely amazing
Man I wish I knew you came to Australia.
You need to come to Adelaide and try the Central Markets here after Tasmania
Australian Vietnamese here. We have a large Vietnamese community with restaurants in the western and south-east Melbourne suburbs. Would highly recommend to go either Footscray or sunshine in west, or Springvale in south-east for authentic Vietnamese food. 🙏
Couldn't agree more
Yum 😋 💯
How do you not have Gout Mike! How???!! 😂
We normally keep eggs refrigerated here in Australia to. Usually the only places you’ll find they aren’t, are ethnically owned shops. Be it Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese etc.
Spotted Shane's Fruits lol.
Welcome to Melbourne! I actually walked past Fishing Season last weekend and thought it looked really interesting, I'll have to try it out!
This is the reason I can’t lose weight. There’s some much great food in Melbourne 😋
I wish you came to Brisbane Australia 🥲🥹
You gotta visit Boxhill in Melbourne East for many asian cuisines
I live in tassie ik your going to bruny island, Salamanca market
Sooo good😢😢
Great that you came to Australia wishing you a great foodie experience 😋. Lots of great eateries on the outside of Chinatown Melbourne 😋😋😋. Adelaide also has a Great foodie experience.
Wow 😊
I don’t know what happened but my subscription was some how removed from your channel. Last night I thought to myself that I hadn’t seen your videos in a while and got worried. So I searched strictly dumplings and seen what happened. I’m glad to be back!
If those are giant aussie mussels.
The one in nz must be gargantuan.....
Lol those are tiny.... .
Welcom to melbourne from a melbournion
Just asking is this the first time in Oz I watch and follow a lot of your posts
