Nothing beats the whopper though, although in my early 20s I don’t know if you guys remember they had a menu item called “the chicken crunch burger” like almost a decade ago that to me was the best chicken burger they ever made, it was so crunchy I’d get like 3 during lunch and after college too, wasn’t a bad price either too bad they got rid of it 😢
I wish I could take Mike to Footscray I’m not that far that place There’s so many places he could eat there but there’s like war for like best banh mi lol & imo I know it
Welcome to Melbourne! I love that little Thai place! So random that it’s in the middle of a city carpark. I used to go there when I worked at St Vincent’s hospital around the corner. So good!
You just can’t beat Melbourne for the best culinary experience in Australia, it’s a melting pot of so many cultures and cuisines that no other Aus city can match! Head out to the suburbs next time and check out Springvale and Box Hill for Asian foods, and Oakleigh for the best Greek food you’ve ever had outside of Greece!
Been Melbourne 5 times in the past 5 years and I've barely scratched the surface of food places to try in the CBD let alone the outer suburbs, so you definitely gotta go back for that week you mentioned
We are the food, fashion, wine, coffee and sporting centre of Australia 😅 he definitely needs to come back and explore more. He should go to the 8 apostles too
Hey Mike.. Wow! It's amazing when you travel and experience different things. All of the meals were different in their own way. I really enjoyed the hungry Jacks, and the seafood mountain.. Enjoy! 🤤🐞🤗
It did look amazing, too bad I don't really like shellfish, but that said it looked awesome and wish I did love shellfish. Prawns are the only kind I really like.
I love Soi 38! Boat noodles are wonderful but my personal fave are the Tom Yum Noodle Soup with pork and prawn wontons with egg noodles. Found didn’t like the thin noodles as not as flavourful
Nice to see you down in our part of the world finally Mikey. Bar Luca is a must when you get to Sydney. As for the beetroot on the burger, it is generally called an 'Aussie' burger at that point. If it has bacon & pineapple as well, it's then called a burger 'with the lot'. Usually best from a local takeaway rather than your large chains.
@simonl4252 to compare the two from international locations to his American viewers that will definitely want to know how they're different. In the US it's generally accepted that Mickey Ds is better than BK, but it's the opposite here and it's kinda neat.
@@richbuang2I visited for the first time since 2012 when I last visited. Holy moly is it a different place. Not food wise, it’s always had good food. But aesthetically
Australia is spoilt for choice when it comes to asian cuisine, being so close to Asia and having a large Asian population no less. Melbourne is %100 one of those places in the country where if you want to experience the food and cafe culture, you could spend weeks trying out different cuisines, types of food etc.
Thai and Vietnamese food in Sydney/Melbourne is sensational. Some dishes even surpass the quality of what you can get in their native countries due to the quality of meat and produce here.
Bourke St seems to be the Thai street for some reason? A lot of people in Australia have been over to Thailand so know if it is good and ask for "Thai hot"
I’m so happy you liked the Hungry Jacks burgers more than the Maccas ones. Personally, I’ve always preferred Hungry Jacks, so I’m glad I’m not alone hahaha
Great to see you in my home city. You will find the McDonalds chicken and fish burgers are different from the US, they are coated in a fine bread crumb. I'm a big fan. We also have lots of chicken wraps and salads. We often prefer a fully cooked through egg so you don't loose all the egg to the plate.
The seafood is the benefit of living close to the coast compared a lot of places in the US. You should have tried more maccas burgers. I forget what they call them but the “special” ones are pretty good. Honesty I couldn’t pick between them. I have a maccas and hungry jacks about 20 metres apart. I just go to the shortest line.
I'm from Melbourne and I've tried those pineapple fritters from Macca's . They're mediocre at best. The fish and chip shops do better jobs. From a chain store then red rooster is the way to go.
Gotta say, I do love me some HJs. If I'm getting fast food, it'll probably Hungry Jacks. Used to be KFC, but they've really gone downhill recently. The ultimate double whopper is a thing of beauty
I'm sorry to say but I've been living in Melbourne for more than 20 years and you're overhyping our processed crap. There are far better options for you to try besides Maccas and Hungry Jacks.
They're terrible. Trust me. Don't even bother. Honestly. Maccas did a promo for like 6 weeks and they were just a greasey, disgusting mess. So inedible I ended up tossing them in the bin. Plus they were like $6 for 2 fritters.
Fun Fact: For many years, there were only 2 Burger King restaurants in Australia, which were both at international airport terminals in Melbourne and Cairns
If you are still around on the weekend, come to the Hawkesbury show, , I’ll be in the brick house van by the cowshed selling Poffertjes ( mini Dutch pancakes)
You should come to Tasmania mate. Especially the Northwest plenty of local seafood here. Personally I like turf not surf. All maccas burgers have 100% Aussie beef. There is a local burger shop ( @fully loaded food ) in Burnie, Tasmania that has a burger called “ loaded Mac “ and it’s so much better than what maccas or Hj’s do.
Why are all the fast food restaurants always better in the other countries? They have the coolest stuff! And we all know what ours taste like lol 😂🙏👱♀️
*100% Aussie Beef* is the name of the company that supplies the beef for the McDonalds Angus burgers. Very clever marketing. It's not actually 100% Aussie beef
Welcome to Australia, and if you are planing to come to Adelaide, if you done so already. You need to go to Cafe Da Villies and try out a Pie Floaters. Also you need to go in to any supermarkets and try Fruchocs, normally found in the sweets isle, as in chocolate bars and so on. While in a Supermarkets. Try out the drink, Farmers Union Iced Coffee. Also find your self somewhere that sell a Fog Cake.

Delicious 😋 Mike! Happy eating. 😊
You have to try the BALSAMIC rice
Bacon deluxe is a must try at Hungry jacks for sure!
Had a triple no tomato heavy onion last night. Best burger I've had from his in a while
