I'd rather buy from a company like AOC that has excellent customer service.

That Microsoft account lock thing has been the bane of my existence in IT for a few years now. Our Active Directory account can get locked out at the "Azure" level, but not the Active Directory level, and there is NOTHING we can do as IT.

IT Systems Manager here. That doesn’t make a lot of sense if you’re using a hybrid infrastructure with on prem DCs and Azure. It’ll only lock out an the AAD/Entra level if it trips conditional access for risky sign ins or someone manually blocks it from sign in (which happens anyway if it gets blocked in on prem and syncs to Entra). I like a problem though, I can try and help if you can explain what happens.

So glad I don't have to deal with all that, I have a custom Windows 8.1 enterprise pro on my main gaming rig, it isn't bare metal like a console OS, but it's a whole lot closer, it cuts the memory footprint down by 90%, increases frame-times (latency) by a massive margin, has much better minimum frames, and average FPS is 15-30% higher, I also use a remote terminal from a home server with 384Gb of RAM and a RAM-Drive over 100 GB fibre for super low latency internet browsing, I never have to worry about malware, spyware, virus's on my gaming rig, and internet browsing doesn't eat up all my RAM, no memory leaking either which is nice.

6:50 Linus if it makes you feel any better, the latest Windows 10 1-9-2024 Security update breaks on a lot of computers because it requires a larger recovery partition, which by default on Windows is ~500MB. The workaround is to run a bunch of commands to resize it because MS’s built-in partition disks doesn’t allow you to move the start of a partition

    • @zeruty

Something I find really annoying about the recovery partition is that they put it at the end of the drive. Every time I had to upgrade someone's SSD (or increase the disk size inside a VM), I had to type some magic commands to deal with that stupid partition. If the recovery partition was first and the system partition second, I would only need to resize the system partition when swapping the drives, which can be done with the partition manager built into Windows.

    • @mbc07
      @mbc07 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@chibicitiberiu the recovery partition used to go before the OS partition during the Windows 8 days, but MS changed the behavior on Windows 10 to the current one, so it can be grown easier (if required). A very well thoughtful upgrade from my Asus VG27AQL1A
Linus messed up the unboxing tho,
    the instructions were pretty clear,
    Remove the stand,
    Insert to the back,
And lift the monitor out of the box,
    Put it on the table
Then remove the protective panel of the screen
You don't want to scratch your monitor on the table

If you plan on waiting a few years, then whatever's new will probably be better for cheaper by then. Screen quality only goes up, and screen cost only goes down. Hell, CES 2024 had shown the first QDEL display, and if it can hit comparable brightness/fps, then it'd EASILY be the best display type by a long shot. Given a year or two, it could completely replace LCD, WOLED, and QD-OLED.

I need to leave my computer on most of the time, and if the screen "disconnects", some software etc. crashes or outright can't start in an automated fashion due to the operating system not seeing anywhere to draw the application.

AVOID DELL, heres why. March 10th 2021 i bought the AW2721D monitor, BEAST at a beast price of $827.74 after tax.. monitor ended up going out close to end of 3 year warranty. the replacement? an inferior AW2723DF ips panel. No the specs arent the same, Dell will say they are until you run test on both 2721d and 2723DF. 2723DF also has a significantly cheaper stand. Moral of the story i spent GOOD money and had a monitor replaced by a used visually damaged cheaper monitor (stand has a ton of rough black scratches, i worked hard to build a nice pc setup an this is an eye sore) i wish Dell would upgrade you free especially considering they no longer have a monitor in the same price range only more or less and i feel that the AW2725DF ($100 more) would be a more appropriate exchange on their end considering i paid 827 pre corona inflation. Even if i had to pay the $100 difference to them. Don't argue with me if you haven't bought yourself groceries the last handful of years. yes inflations a thing and yes Dell is an OK company AT BEST. While OLED tech has come a long way, I really want to see more progress in the mini-LED monitor market. I hate the thought of a $900 monitor becoming borderline unusable in 3 years due to burn-in and general panel degradation. Obviously it's not a big issue with gaming or movie watching, but my PC does it all and that makes OLED not viable as static elements will burn-in to the display over time and no doubt it will lose brightness in an attempt to maintain panel uniformity.

    ALIENWARE 27 360HZ QD-OLED GAMING MONITOR - AW2725DF
    Haven't decided which one yet.
I'll mainly use it to play MW3 with my 4090/7800x3d.
At 4k I should be able to get around 170 fps...roughly. Going of what others have got with the same cpu/gpu combo.
At 1440p I get about 270 fps consistently on my current monitor; which is a Samsung 32" Odyssey G7 at 240Hz; 1000R Curved.
It's a great monitor that I've had for 3 years now.
