Some of those parts in the cartridge might be a ROM, a RAM, and possibly the one above what i think is the ROM is a sound generator. I think that’s right.
I know this is a half-year-old comment, but the largest chip is very likely the ROM, then the other two are likely EEPROM or flash for saving, and the lockout chip, similar to the NES'.
My question is how do chips that look like they are from the 80s can hold a large N64 game. I had an N64 emulator and the games are a few megs, especially tony hawk games.
I'm pretty worried about the Majora's Mask cartridges since the plastic they used is infamously brittle and you'd have an extremely difficult time finding a copy without any cracks like that
Thank you very much! I always appreciate when someone comments something like this on one of my videos (sorry for the late response btw). I'm currently working on a new video with much more editing and research put into it since I've raised my standards for TH-cam a lot since this video. Spring break starts tomorrow for me so I'll quite possibly be able to finish the video next week. Be on the look out for it; it's gonna be a good one!
I really love how robust these cartriges where made. They have a metal shield and a dust cover.
Imagine doing this to your friends games it would be the biggest troll in the 90’s.
Lots of nice editing and research done for this video, especially the commentary. Great job!

Most likely, yeah. I'm not too keen on circuit boards and stuff, but from what I've heard/seen, that's all that seems to be in these things.
