Is it possible to use a memory pak(controller pak) to save, if the battery on the cardridge has run out?

Maybe a stupid question , why doesent it just save to the little carthridge thing in the controller if the battery runs out?

Hey What all do you need I saw on the video but I was just trying to be precise so I can get the parts because I’m having the same issue with one of my games for legend of Zelda majora’s mask

Majora's Mask doesn't use save batteries it saves to the cartridge directly like Super Mario 64. Nothing to replace unless you have a fake bootleg copy.

My super mario 64 cartridge and vrally 99 doesn't have battery.... On vRally 99 I had issues an error saying that the battery is not working so I opened it today and I found no battery inside! what is going on with this carttrige I don't know. I cleaned it a bit and I hope that I won't have this issue again.
