The replacement handle is about $28 at your local Ford dealer.

There is a way easier way to do it. on the bottom exterior side of either seat there is a plastic cover with a little lever behind it that is pulled up by that cable. Mine has been broken for years and i just push that little lever up to put the seats back down.

​@@angelinavelez5307 can't post picture, but if you are facing your back seat that is stuck - pretend seat its a box/rectangle.
Look at very BOTTOM LEFT of where the seat almost meets where its connected to floor. You'll see this little bare metal 'latch' that Mitch is talking about. Just pull it up and seat goes right down, been doing for years too :) . (It might not look like it moves, but very easy once you find and pull up, one finger does it).
Only problem - as mitch prob knows - kids, passengers etc cannot find this thing so you end up just doing it for everyone if they pull seat up (we carry dog in all the time so its CONSTANT lol). So appreciate this video i'm going to pull cable back up and reattach it today (hopefully not broken, just came off). If broken, i'll buy new so thanks to George
