For real, THIS is the video that people need to see. You are the only one that explains that it isn't supposed to be lowered. I was going nuts trying to figure out why they'd design it so difficult to release.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that!
Wow no wonder I can’t get the seat to go down, I kept pulling the black strap 😂 and nothing, no luck haha. thank you very for the video it’s very helpful, now I understand why the seat was stuck 😅
No problem glad to help
Thank you sir. Finally a video that shows and explains correctly
Thank you glad to help
@@Motorcarnut yes 👍🏼 thank you so much for explaining it so well, know we know
Without TH-cam some of us would go crazy
LOL, you're welcome :)
Man... Thank you .. I was starting to think I had a lower end f150.... You are a blessing in disguise....
Glad I could help!

Thank you, glad to help!
Thanks for actually showing this rear Seat Latch and how it releases👍.
No problem, thanks for the comment
Why put that strap there that does nothing? I was grabbing on my2009 f150 strap for 30 minutes trying to get seat down. Then I came across your video and it all made sense. Thanks I wish I would've watched a 5 minute video instead of 30 minutes wasted on strap pulling. This was helpful really .👍
Glad to help, I believe the straps are for attaching a child seat. Happy New Year!
😂😂😂 me too 🤦🏾
The strap is for car seats or k9 restrains
For real, I just got a 2010 supercab and was trying to wrap my head around why they'd design the latch that way. It wasn't until halfway through this that I realized it's not designed to be lowered for convenience or storage, just if you need to remove the seat or service something behind it. Doi 🤦♂️
Taking the headrest off to see better was the key for me. Thank you.
No problem, glad it helped
i can’t get the headrest off because it hitting the roof
@littlebob7825 Just reach around then a unlock the seat back.
Super helpful! Thank you!!!
Glad it helped, Thanks!
My dude, you’re a lifesaver. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub! And appreciate the feedback!!
I sure appreciate it. I have a 2014 and couldn’t figure out how to lower it because I wanted to clean behind there. This is so dumb how it is designed. Thanks for the help.
I know, they like to save money everywhere they can. And not just Ford
Thanks buddy. Much appreciated.
Sure, no problem. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you. Very well done
Thank you the comment, appreciated!

Iv replaced my fuel filter, brakes, serpintine belt, belt tensioner! Still couldn't get the seat down till I saw this video lol, thanks
Lol, no problem. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you !
You're welcome!
Thanks
No problem!
This was a helpful method to lay the seat down, but I am having difficulty getting it to latch again in the upright position. Any guidance you can provide?
Should just latch back up, maybe a little oil on the mechanism will help?
Tyvm greatly appreciated this video Mahalo frm oahu
Hey! Greetings! And thanks for the comment!
I have seen videos of a strap that attaches to the pin so you can reach for this strap and pull to release the latch as the guy had a few things stored behind the seat. Like jumper cables and other smaller stuff that can fit.
There is no factory strap to unlock the rear seat back
Correct it's something you can get from Amazon includes strap and bracket
Genius!
Lol, Thanks for the comment.
I tack welded a strap to my pin and ran it through the headrest. Just gotta pull up on it and it releases. I imagine they make an attachment for them but never looked.
I don’t think so, your way is probably better
@@Motorcarnut well there is a niche in the aftermarket for you! Million dollar idea lol
Thank for the video. I got a 2012 and curious why they didn’t fold down but now I know how. Now that I see how I’m not sure it’s necessary. There is no reason why to fold it down. There is no storage etc.
True, but if you have to remove them for any reason that’s how you get to the seat bolts to remove
I need to know how to put it back on cuz I got mine with it off and it won't latch back on
Same way as it unlocks unless yours is broken?
Does the other rear seat come down??
Yes, the same way
What if u don’t have the latch to release the seat under the seat
I don’t know what you’re referring to?
same thing with the small seat?
Yes
What about the passenger side?
Same procedure
Still waiting for 20014 f150
Yes, it’s very futuristic with 400 mpg lol.
Thanks got to change that.
Dumbest Ford idea ever!! Thanks for your video, it was very helpful 👌
No problem, I agree
Wow, nothing is simple anymore.
Unfortunately
I got it down but now it won't latch back.
Make sure the latch is not sticking maybe some wd40 to free it up
Make sure the roll pin on the latch (located on rear wall) is pushed up to the top of the slot it is in. Lift the seat bottom up and press the seat back to the closed position. Then the seat will latch back up. Good luck.
@@bobskinner6107 mine is not latching back in. It now keeps falling down. Do I have to push the pin back down and if so how?
@@socialnerdia Try resetting the latch half on the seat by moving it with your finger. Be sure that the roll pin mounted on the rear wall half of the latch is not all the way at the top. If it is, the seat half of the latch misses it below the wall half. Press it down an inch or so and then lift up and press the seat back while slowly lowering the seat down. Good luck.
@ Benjamin Williams and anyone else that might end up having the same problem. I was able to get it latched back in by wrapping a string around the gold pin on the driver side and then pulling it down once it was in position. Then you can just pull the string out of the way. Hope that helps somebody along the way.
What pin??lol
Watch to complete video, I explain where it is
over 100 years making cars and Ford can't find a simpler way to open it than that.?. you've got to be kidding me..actually there is no room behind my seat.and I cannot access the switch mine's a ordered vehicle, so I'm thinking maybe there is no access. if anyone has any thought I'd love to hear them..it seems the seat is all the way against the wall and there is no extra room behind the seat at the bottom
Got no answer for that, lol.
Horrible design flaw
I know, just a simple latch is all that would be needed.
The saprinos instructions to let seat down... Please don't murder me!😂😂
Not this time lol
