Bright red duck tape, all around the outside of the back window. Learned that from the Red Green show on PBS. Alerts other F150 owners that you had a leak and YOU FIXED IT (badge of honor). :-)
Been trying to figure out the same issue, replace 3rd brake light gasket, even sealed it, changed corner moldings, sealed them also. Didn't work. Start the truck, turn a/c on high on recirculate shut the doors with windows all up and spray the rear glass with a mix of dawn dish soap and water and you will find exactly where the leak is. Mine was the back glass. It blew a bubble the size of a baseball within 3 or 4 seconds. Hope this helps.
@@FixingWithPassion Then you're the one I watched that led me to the fix, thank you so much for the info, my mom says thank you, it was driving me mad trying to figure out where it was coming from!
Funny how so many of us have the same solution in mind on this leak. I sealed the 3rd light, that corner of the roof.... had to do the window. Time will tell... 2010 F150, same as yours. I also (when possible) now park with the rear facing the SE. The prevailing winds and storms come from the W-NW. Mine only leaked with the truck parked. That helped prior to sealing the window.
I had the same problem. I used Permatex silicone and just threw away the gasket. Ran a small bead of sealant in place of the gasket. Then I ran a bead around the light and removed the excess silicone. Never leaked again. You will have to cut the seal to replace the bulb when it goes out. But the process is pretty simple to repeat. Good luck.
$30k on a 2016 with "bumper to bumper" warranty which doesn't cover this leak on both sides! wow thanks ford. thank you for your video helping me figure out the issue
I have a 2009 f-150 with the same problem, but I thought it was leaking from the sunroof hoses, I had a compact car a few years back and a fixed a similar problem just replacing those hoses. I hadn’t had the time to do it, but with your explanation I will focus also on the reat glass sealant. Thanks
I cant find your follow up video. Did you just seal all the way around the window and it fixed the problem? also what product did you use if it fixed it. thanks this video was so helpful! truck is in the garage now trying to keep it out of the rain until i can seal it!
My 2010 F150 was leaking several years ago... i too thought it was the seam seals on the corners.. i coated it black RTV silicone. It ended up being the 3rd brake light... i used RTV on the gasket instead of replacing the gasket.. its been leak free since
Same issue in my 2010 KR. I have the 3 sections to my back window with the center one that opens electronically. My truck smells like cat piss when it rains. I’m replacing my 3rd brake light again and will partially pull my headliner to seal inside AND out. Then I need to shampoo my headliner to get the discoloration out.
I have replaced the 3rd brake light several times, replaced drip rail straps and rivets, replaced back windows since you can buy the seal for the slide window, and butyl rope for the back window. Leak keeps coming back in one of these places. Hate it so much.
I have exposed rivets on roof of 2019 F150, were there plastic plugs covering them at any point? I’ve used high pressure car washes and have stopped going to such places due to the negatives. Should I put plastic plugs in exposed rivets?
Hi did you ever figure out if the exposed rivet was causing your leak? On my 2018 F150, the rivet on the passenger side has a hole in the center of it…looks different than the one on the drivers side so I’m thinking water is getting in there on mine. Thanks for any feedback. This is so exhausting.
the rivets on the roof leak. Replace the rubber and rivets, a dab of silicone under the rubber and a dab on the top of the rivet. Dead give away is the headliner stains on the corners
I changed my third brake light because it was filled with water even and it's still leaking. My seals on the roof with those rivits are really rotted I wonder if that's it.
Your Rocker panels and cab corners rusting out?? Sun roof drain goes right into your rockers. Ford wanted to make sure your Ford body rusted out in 10 years.
High pressure will un seal it ..low pressure rain is not high pressure you know. I know kinda is in a storm..to late you already done it..lol hope it worked out for you.
2024 this video is still helping thank you
Cool!!

Did you had to replace the whole glass?
How did you go about getting that fixed?
@@minecrafter4623 Permatex silicone sealant around the gap between the glass and body, haven't had any issues

Permatex Silicone
Thanks for the video my 2010 is doing the same thing and it’s the window seal as well.

Is RTV superior to Permatex Silicone?
Just got a 2012 f150 lariat and has the same leak. The seals look a little worn trying to find them online but I can’t

Did you have to remove window to put on the new rubber piece with rivets ?

A guy told me his was leaking in the rain channel.
Possible
So it ended up being the rear window seal leaking. Replace the rear window and problem solved.
thank you
