Just had the recall done on mine. They want me to pay $500 more to replace the handle because that's now sticky and you have to make sure you push it back down to latch. What a headache
Had my 18 F150 in last week for this recall (21S53). Seems to latch better. Nothing was said about my after market opener strut. Guessing it didn't interfere with their work.
Had 2019 truck tail gate unlatch a few times but the rear window on my shell kept it from coming down. When I would open the window the gate would start to deploy and hit me in the chest. I always thought I had somehow pushed the button on the fob that opened the tailgate
I wonder why it seems as though the engineers are scrambling to find fixed for these issues. Surely the new trucks have to be made with e different design latch than the one being replaced.
Like the say this is not new Dodge had a recall on their Ram pickup tailgate latches also four or five years back.lol The Cure was a little plastic or rubber block but the dealers wouldn't sell it to you so you could do it yourself it was a 10-minute fix which they wanted to charge an hour to hour and a half to install.:(
I did some engineering work on the door latch mechanisms for some Ford products. After some famous incidents the design requirements were updated. There are now so many internal standards to meet for door handles and latches, a good thing. How complicated can a door latch be? I wonder how the laches could have missed that dynanic loading spec. My only guess is that it is sooo hard to find competent automotive engineers. Many of us are saying, "Take this job and shove it." The new engineers may not know. I wish that the engineers at SIG would have seen Ford's design specs for latches before SIG designed the P320 without the dingus. OOPS. Dynamic loading makes a difference.
the fact that 50 years later, they, the corporation, thought that this would be a great idea, to have profits over workers, and now things as I feel, things are back in swing to say for the works, and after that lag in competent works after 50 years, this is what they get never looking past the profits, they always look at the workers as the problem
All vehicles have there problems! Rich is just respectful enough to show us the problems instead of being a fanboy like Scotty Kilmer with Toyota. Look how Toyota has problems too
@@bobimbordino3024 not everything is junk, most vehicle makes really started going downhill in 2005-10ish....and now is probably at it's worst. I have owned a half dozen new vehicles from all of the makes and All of them have had stupid quality issues that my early 2000's vehicles NEVER had. Having a mechanic backround in the automotive testing industry for years, I saw the decline of quality start years ago and saw this junk coming.
No a full 10r80 service... where I do the fluid and change the filter and Gasket and I'm about to release the video you guys just got to be patient because if I put all the stuff up at one time people won't watch all the video but then if I don't put it up all at one time people are going to ask me questions about why didn't you do it well!!!! because y'all don't watch them if I put them all in one video LOL so that's why I'm loading it this morning
@@FordBossMe the only reason I asked was because my local dealer told me I was due for the "Transmission Fluid Exchange LV" service. I asked if that service includes a new filter and my advisor wouldn't give me an answer so thats what ive been trying to figure out. 65k miles 2018 2.7
Rich looks like they're already replaced I replaced mine did not trust the mechanics at the dealership happen I grew up with the guy in in the service department the old original ones had plastic in them that would hit against the Stop and break and they would fall apart and open up

Wish i had a tail gate that dropped slowly without holding it as it drops and even better it could close itself. 1 heavy tailgate! 2000 f250.

Every 4 months or so I'd spray the latch and jaws good with lube, 130k miles on an 18 , solid like day 1

My 17 electric push button tailgate came open while driving at 70mph and now I have no pack up camera and can’t open my tailgate any longer
They have a recall in this, contact your local Ford dealer and give your vin and see what campaigns are open

The new tailgate latches look like they have a much better grip on the pins.
I received one on my 2021 Super Duty
Keep it simple! I have no problem with opening my tailgate with my hand!!

What was the trans service that he was having done? Just fluid exchange?
