He was reliving the moment in his life that really stuck with him, when he should've realized he was wrong but didn't, his subconscious telling him "this is the moment you fucked up " and him speaking out that moment, it's the depiction of him losing his mind, he's letting go of his sanity , he gave up trying to control his thoughts because he realized that the one who betrayed him was himself , all the pride blinded him from see the reality of what was really happening and he didn't want to see that hence the gravity and nature quote, leading him to a life of endulgence and sin. And that's really the worst thing anyone can do to themselves, like many of us nowadays, life should be a balance in order to be peace, politicians are only chaos creators as we've been seeing since the time of the Roman's, we just let them take complete control by making us dumb ass and yet people choose not to see that which is scary to me, people are allowed literally by law to basically create they're own reality (or so they think they can) but in reality it's all an illusion to hide the truth . Yall know what I'm talking about and if yall don't, what's been happening the past couple of years(2-4), Would've never crossed any of our minds to see happen withing maybe 30 or Even more and other things like the crazy laws being created should've never even been mentioned in congress, it's just really bizarre to see our destruction and yall like that. (Gender role laws and all the crap that split people apart) I feel like Dutch actually I feel like no one saw that in the end the story was about Dutch more than anything we were just seeing the point of the victim that stuck with him for the rest of his remaining life which was Arthur, this is what makes this game the best I have ever played. we're supposed to think and see the bigger picture of what ur choice create and where they can take us or away from us. Life is karma life is Ying yang. Life is a balance that should be in equilibrium, if it's not it'll find the way back to its natural state, like the stars that's why they shine and when they're not in equilibrium they self destruct. Everything is a cycle in life . The meaning to the game is just so great to actually put into a simple sentence, for me, like life, like love, happiness and vengeful hated
i love how Rockstar adds meaning to lines like this from RDR1 its soooo good. they did it a few times in RDR2, like how in the end john meets dutch in the mountains, and in RDR1 he has a throw away line at the cliffs there saying how "they have to stop meeting like this" love RDR2
I love how Dutch in 1899 used to tell people that they can't fight but he can but in his last moments he realised that neither can he fight Nature, change nor Gravity.
Can't say there are many video game sequels that not only surpass the first game, but actually enhance the characters and story of it. Replaying RDR1 was never the same after playing 2. It really made the experience much more impactful and emotional. Truly something special.
Dutch really was an awesome character ofc he was nowhere near perfect but for the most part (in the beginning at least) he did the best he could and saved lives of many people. Who knows how short lived Arthur, Javier, John and more lives could have been. You see that being a leader in any role, movie, game, real life and all they have a lot of pressure and get critiqued the most out of all the characters. They have a lot on their shoulders, at the end of the day he had a good heart ❤️ he was an amazing character
Dutch is the guy to live long enough to see himself become the villian. He was never the best of people but he had soul. In Rdr1 he is just another leader of a pointless gang.
In the camp you can find a paper that shows dutch writes down and recites his speeches. Kinda crazy thinking about how he thought of this one in a similair situation
I’ve seen a few people already say it but man this makes rdr1 hit way harder. Right when Dutch realized it was over, for real this time, he remember Arthur.
I actually think he was speaking from the heart. Given his relationship with Arthur… He uses the same words but his heart said something very different.
In his final moments, he remembered Arthur. Remembered the plan that saved both of them, and reenacted it to a T, only this time it ended with his demise. Dutch is a bona-fide piece of crap but damn it he was so tragic.
Crazy idea to make a sequel a prequel, but it worked. First time playing RDR all of those years ago, I despised Dutch. Now, it just breaks my heart seeing what happened to him.
Honestly the *only* option they had for RDR2 was a prequel tho, imo. There really was no way to make it a chronological sequel, given the first game is literally about the fall of the old west. Plus, world war 1 begins at the end of the first game, and there was really nothing left of the “Wild West” after world war 1 ended irl. A direct sequel to Red Dead Redemption would just be a call of duty game, given how likely it would end up that Jack fights in WW1. The only logical conclusion was to explain how the gang ended up that way.
made sense to make the sequel a prequel for this game in RD1 their was a lot of backstory between John and his old gang that we never saw. there were always this "hey remember back in the day we were this or did that" moments now we understand why
You know Rockstar is the Greatest.... DUTCH VAN DER LINDE is the most complex and saddest charecter.RDR in a way tells us so many things about real life......Its not possible for me to explain it in words but u can only feel it...The story of RDR is the greatest. There is a reason why RDR is called THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME...In his last moments too he was thinking about Arthur. A SAD FACT- Arthur died on the cliff facing the East , and Dutch also died on the edge of a cliff. ANOTHER FACT-Arthur's wish was that when he would die , bury him facing to the west so that he could remember all the fun times he had with the gang. But , he died on the cliff facing to East , and ANOTHER SAD THING IS THAT he was betrayed by his own father figure who was way more than a father to him , this kind of thought would'nt even have came around his camp and the worst part about this was that he ganged up with somebody who partnered with him in bar fight.Arthur's life was always vey sad.
You can bend the laws of physics. Like life. It will twist but once you can't hold it. It WILL snap back.
Dude, I never even realized this. Wow. What a reference.
If you don’t jump the army gets confused as hell 😂
Yeah Dutch is like " come on Arthur...JUMP ! JUMP !"
i love how Rockstar adds meaning to lines like this from RDR1 its soooo good. they did it a few times in RDR2, like how in the end john meets dutch in the mountains, and in RDR1 he has a throw away line at the cliffs there saying how "they have to stop meeting like this"
love RDR2
I love how Dutch in 1899 used to tell people that they can't fight but he can but in his last moments he realised that neither can he fight Nature, change nor Gravity.
I got ridiculously excited during that speech in RDR2. 😂 "He's saying the thing!"
Can't say there are many video game sequels that not only surpass the first game, but actually enhance the characters and story of it. Replaying RDR1 was never the same after playing 2. It really made the experience much more impactful and emotional. Truly something special.
I always feel like rdr1 sounds and feels more like an old tv show, and then rdr2 is like living in it
simply the deepest and most emotion stirring games i’ve ever played
Dutch really was an awesome character ofc he was nowhere near perfect but for the most part (in the beginning at least) he did the best he could and saved lives of many people. Who knows how short lived Arthur, Javier, John and more lives could have been. You see that being a leader in any role, movie, game, real life and all they have a lot of pressure and get critiqued the most out of all the characters. They have a lot on their shoulders, at the end of the day he had a good heart ❤️ he was an amazing character
And both times Dutch says "You can't fight gravity" and falls down a tall cliff
He was probably thinking about Arthur. He realised he was right all along but now it was too late, so he didn’t want to be hanged
Imagine being part of the death of the man you raised as your son. And then living many more years after...
Arthur never left his mind
This means he would have been thinking about arthur just before he died...
This makes Dutch's death even more sad with this plot twist😢😢
You always got a plan, Dutch
Man that hits hard after playing RDR2 & RDR1
Beautiful how well they managed to weave the games together 😢
Dutch went out like that Chelonian Master- off a cliff. And both guys led their followers to their untimely deaths.
I got goosebumps hearing that in Rdr2, it sounded too familiar
Shit, its crazy how its the same speech but given in two different contexts has totally different meanings
Wish John was much more emotional towards Dutch in that final scene, after RDR2 that speech is just incredibly sad to watch.
John wasn’t there when Dutch said it in RDR2 so John wouldn’t understand that it’s a callback
@@Synpathetix didn’t mean that scene, meant the whole journey of RDR2 and prior history
@@iJayx ah gotcha
They can still do that in the rumored remake/remaster
I take that back.
The Dutch character is one of the best characters in the gaming world
Agreed
" I got a plan, John. I just need 2 trillion in taxpayer dollars."
- a wise badger
Dutch's character and his story are so poetic.
Only if they survive...
Rest in peace Dutch. We will miss you.😞
Not really
@@randomyoutubeuser3918 how dare u u would probably be Micah if u were in the story line TRAITOR
@@randomyoutubeuser3918 we will miss the good times with dutch and camp when they all were alive :)
Every cutscene with Dutch in RDR1 is goated
Dutch is the guy to live long enough to see himself become the villian. He was never the best of people but he had soul. In Rdr1 he is just another leader of a pointless gang.
This would’ve made a lot more sense to me had I played the first game 😭
2nd game takes place before the 1st
Wouldve been even more sad to see the comparison of when he jumps with arthur and jumps alone
When I heard we can’t fight nature in rd2 I almost started to cry
Cried many a time in rdr2
I definitely did not cry you can tell in those last moments he remembered Arthur now hes with him ❤️🩹🕊️
In the end he remembered Arthur trying to tell him in 1899 to not trust Micah
Damnnnnnn I never knew they’d connected the dialogue ..... so spectacularly awesome
Damn I just realized this
This shows that he was always the same person, he was found out for who he truest was just like John said.
I know they made a reference in rdr2 but tbh they hadn't thought about Arthur
When dutch said “our time has passed, john” really hit cus dutch used to be in denial of that.
Are time has passed… John
our
Holy crap I didn’t realize the comparison!!! He was thinking of arthur at this moment
Sort of hurts to know that he was following a speech and not speaking form the heart to John in his final moments
Maybe he was having a senior moment
I actually think he was speaking from the heart. Given his relationship with Arthur… He uses the same words but his heart said something very different.
prequel done right, gives whole new meaning to the og
The first time I played red dead redemption 2 I listened to his speech and I knew it sounded familiar
I never realized this. Thank you for making that correlation and putting this together!
Even if Dutch didn’t jump off the cliff I know John couldn’t bring himself to kill Dutch I’m 100% sure
Arthur, Dutch, John and Hosea, the boys
“Our time is over… John”
Dutch remembered arthur
In his final moments, he remembered Arthur. Remembered the plan that saved both of them, and reenacted it to a T, only this time it ended with his demise. Dutch is a bona-fide piece of crap but damn it he was so tragic.
My whole life I never paid my barber
When I saw this part of RDR2 I knew it was shoehorned in to connect it to Dutch's final scene.
if dutch jumped off a cliff, his gang would too. at least before he went crazy
Micah died thinking John was Abraham Lincoln
I hate my life, I related to everything Dutch said on a personal level.
Everything will be okay brother, everything will be better. Assalam Alaikum.
@@hassanwaqar1883 thank you, I appreciate the sentiment!
You won’t stay in the bad spot forever bro 🤝
it's not yourself you hate but your surroundings. stick up for your values and help people who share your values.
Become better. I know it’s stupid but I think it’s actually a good advice. Stop watching these videos and crying, get up and do something, anything
It made me cry from nostalgia 😢
Crazy to think the super charismatic guy that is Dutch Van der Linde has a go to final speech 😂
The actor is amazing
Sometimes I wanna hug Dutch lmao
Dutch showed us that we really can't fight gravity.
Damm Duch 😔
I always knew this was a foreshadowing
(if u want then i can tell u the whole story of ARTUR MORGAN) pls leave a like it took so much time to write.
"You can't fight gravity" then throws himself down the cliff...
The crazy thing is Is that I just replayed through the game again and I heard that speech and I thought exactly like how this video portrays. I was probably going to try and make a video myself honestly
Love how they added that detail
Crazy how detailed these worlds be. He’s even standing on the same cliff he standing on in the first game.
That’s crazy! I didn’t know those scenes were influenced by each other I thought it seemed familiar when jumping off that cliff
