He would have had a good ending had he just stuck with the name jim milton, putting his name as john marston on his house contract was the beginning of the end. I love this game so much after i killed the squatters john walks away and the weather creeps up slowly but surely into a thunderstorm and it pans to the lightning and john was in the accountants office as you could see him sign his name and right after he signed i heard a loud thunder crack almost symbolizing him letting the law take control of him.
Thanks I appreciate that! I love chapter 2 that’s actually my next video lol. I think I’ll do 2 more rdr2 videos then maybe move on to some other things.
I love the music that plays whenever Abigail and John's relationship is mentioned or seen. Speaking of music, I love how you added music from the game into your video. The score in this game is PHENOMENAL. Loved the Video!
America venom is really the best western end song (yea it’s a song, not the name of the final mission, it’s the the song that plays out when John is alone I think.)
@TennisWall the entire mission in general, and the "cliff climber" ending. The money ending was just Arthur's guitar playing but the cliff ending had the violins that added so much more to it.
The saddest part to me of Abigail leaving is she couldn’t have possibly written that note without help. Jack is already constantly in the middle of their two bickering, and now he has to write this note to his own father from his mother. Jack Marston has got one of the saddest stories in a real-world setting.
0:14 what? arthur morgan literally died for the opposite of what john did. he constantly talked about how revenge was a fool’s game and how he just wanted john to go on and live a normal life, arthur absolutely would not have wanted john to go and chase micah lol
I mean, for a majority of the epilogue, it is what Arthur sacrificed himself for, buying a ranch, building a house, escaping the outlaw life, and raising a family. All up into the last mission, that is, when he was blinded by vengeance, which is kinda the point of Rdr 1 and 2, a cycle of revenge. Dutch in Rdr2, John in Rdr2, and then Jack in Rdr1.
I really liked the Epilogue part.. Since we all get to play as John once more.. It also gave backstory of him from RDR1.. RDR2 story was masterpiece.. characters of John and Arthur is unforgettable in gaming history
I understand a lot of people find it boring. But part of me believes that some parts are purposely dull. Showing the contrast of life on the run in the gang vs. trying to settle down and be a family man. It definitely picks up. But I think the purpose of milking cows and feeding chickens etc… is to give the player the same itch John would have obviously been feeling.
My dad played this game and 100% it. For years he told me to play and I never did. I kept being overwhelmed by the size of it so I never gave it a fair chance until 3 weeks ago. With that said, I beat it in those 3 weeks and played it every single night whenever I put my son to bed. I was so immersed I would call my dad the next day and ramble on about how amazing this game is and he would give me spots to go to and we’d talk about the story and just how one of a kind this game is. I’ve always been super close with my dad but this game bonded my dad and I even further and I’ll never forget that. Thank you, Rockstar.
Micah probably made a deal with the pinkertons that he would bait Dutch with the Blackwater money and then would have him arrested/killed. I think that‘s why Dutch shot him because he knew that Micah was the rat at the end.
Bravo Sherlock… but for real tho… I can’t fkn imagine that Dutch couldn’t put the pieces together all along, and that he trusted Micah… who even in mentality is evil and reckless and only joined like a month before the Blackeater gig, he trusted this obvious problem maker more than his so called son Arthur who he basically brought up, and who was always loyal to him. Greed got the best of Dutch.
@@bonecrushra.k.a.improwise753I think it’s a mixed of greed but also Dutch probably relating to Micah in the way of his dark thoughts. Dutch for all of his so called good deeds was nothing more than a thief and a cult leader trying to play hero and revolutionary. While he might have helped these people who were considered outcast in society he also held them back as we’ve seen during the epilogue with people like Mary Beth, Tilly, Pearson, and John. Imagine the happy life Arthur may have gotten if he wasn’t so loyal to the gang and the man who raised him. Imagine what a smart man like Lenny could have become if he didn’t die at a young age because of reckless people like Dutch. Dutch was the man who helped comfort sadie, he was the man who saved Javier when he escaped Mexico and was starving near death and he did raised two orphan children but in the end when shit hit the fan like it always was going to with the lifestyle he was living he chose to triple down and endanger the lives of all those people he once showed care for. The man Dutch had so many chances to help these people but instead used them as pawns for a vision of America that was never going to become true. He’s a deeply flawed man and it’s why he’s one of my favorite villains in fiction. His story is one that shows what happens when you continue to flirt with the darkness inside of you and what happens when that darkness you tried to hid finally manifest into a living being like Micah.
Just saw a comment saying “this is one of the best RDR2 videos ive ever seen” and i couldnt agree more and ive watched ALOT of them. This was great man. I have a short attention span and sat here for 40 mins glued to my phone very entertained. I was shocked to see only 2K subs.(just gained another btw)This was very well done
I agree, the epilogue is peak writing and fiction and every time I see or hear someone talk negatively about it in any variety of way I can’t help but wonder if they even played the same game as me. These people must have far too shallow of thinking if they can’t appreciate the pure bliss that is the epilogue after all the hardship the rest of the game was. And it was damn earned! Love this vid. John is my favorite character and honestly a big reason why I dared to get married at 21 myself, it means a lot to me. The game and my relationship that is. Thanks for this trip down memory lane.
The Epilogue has some of the most standout moments in the game. Scaling the mountain mowing down Micah's gang as John's theme plays is probably one of the most memorable moments in gaming for me. My takeaway after playing it is that it's very good, but I don't necessarily want to play through it on subsequent games because by and large I enjoy playing as Arthur so much more. If you loved the base game, you owe it to yourself to play through it at least once.
You are creating videos on the level of if not better than bigger creators in the red dead scope like fizhy. This production value is insane for the amount of subs you have and I can't wait to see how much better they get hundreds of thousands of subs from now. Instant subscription.
That is such a huge compliment. Thank you so much. Fizhy is such a big inspiration to me! Thank you for watching and again thank you for the great comment. Definitely excited for the future. Appreciate it.
I didn’t play RDR1 until years after playing RDR2. After I finally got around to it, I grew so much more love and appreciation for the epilogue of RDR2. Bittersweet knowing what happens in the end. Truly masterful writing
Dude I look forward to the Epilogue every time, one of my favorite parts of the game for some reason. I just love the cautiousness of it, and its one of those things that re-contextualizes RDR1. Seeing John build the place up, go through a period of missing Abigail and Jack and them finally getting this little piece of happiness makes the ending of RDR1 that much more tragic and bitter (in the best way)
This is one of the greatest videos I have ever watched, about the greatest game ever made and the only game to really hit me hard in the feels. Thank you.
This is a wonderful video. Thank you for putting it together. I love the epilogue of RDR2 the character development John gets us phenomenal. The story beautify ties RDR2 and RDR1’s stories together.
There certainly is something to critique in the epilogue, especially with John’s weird fusion with Arthur and how John acts but it’s all minor things that you can definitely look past. I always enjoy the epilogue and look forward to it, it has so many great moments in it and is generally very satisfying!
@@splitzerx570I’ve always read that as John trying to retire, and then when Ross takes his family, and makes John hunt down his old gang. A life he thought was over, and wanted his new life back. As to why he’s so aggressive in rdr1 he’s sick of this and just wants to get back to his family. Which makes the ending of 1 sadder, he kept trying to leave his old life only to be dragged back in till he couldn’t be dragged out again.
@@thedevilsleutice Yeah that’s exactly my thoughts as well, but the main thing to me that’s missing is John’s smart little remarks he’d make in RDR1. Either way I don’t see it as a major problem
I loved the epilogue and I also love that moment when you finally get to kill the man that killed Arthur. Also I just want to say you have some of the best videos I have ever seen
The epilogues of both games are my favorite parts of the games by far. The back and forth of John and Uncle, John trying his best to be a good father and guiding figure for his son, and the romance between John & Abigail. These games are right up there among the best cinematic works ever made :)
It was so crazy when I play the first time of the epilogue replay as Arthur Morgan the time in his shoes after Arthur's passing and now we're in John's shoes and the thing is that play as John things goes bad
I think the epilogue wraps up Jhon Marstons story to Red dead 1 nicely and also giving us the happy ending he deserved even we all know what going to happen after it.
Since rdr1 i fell in love with John. The epilogue felt like a dream to me. Love this fool ❤ Always put a smile on my face seeing him happy with his family.
For me the epilogue makes Arthurs story even sadder. You are right, John did all this through love wheras Arthur was incapable after what happened to his former partner and Issac. He wants to with Mary but he just can't
I enjoy the missions with charles and uncle a lot, fighting the skinners and building the house. The missions with Sadie are cool too. Great video mane.
A nice little detail during the strawberry section with Cleet before going after Micah. While interrogating Cleet, if you look and listen closely, you can hear and see Charles talking to the townsfolk about who Cleet is, and his affiliation with Micah Bell. It’s such a small detail most miss but I love it so much, it just adds detail to such a small scene and shows you how much love and care rockstar had for the red dead series.
Great video. Its always tough for me to replay both knowing the outcome. Its wild that in the end, if john wouldve fully listened to arthur and not looked back, he never wouldve went after micah and thus never wouldve lead agent ross to him and his family, of course, then theres no rdr1 lol
I love the epilogue. It allows you to play as the OG himself again. Killing Micah, exploring the west, bounties, strangers with John, it was perfect. Well, l just wish John had his original rdr1 hair model.
For me this was a seweral hours marathon. Started evening ended close to noon. Never seen such intense story telling and probably it wouldn't happen again. It was hipnotizing.
The epilogue is my favorite part of Rdr2. I religiously played RDR and love John. I grew to love Arthur but playing as John again with the added backstory from his earlier years with the gang made it so much better. Not even mentioning how you turn into the one man army John Marston we know from the first game during American Venom *chefs kiss. Just a masterclass of storytelling.
Not a very good one man army in this game since Micah pins him down behind a crate until Sadie magically appears on the mountain with no explanation as to how she got there
This is truly a well crafted video of this part of the game. I just beat the game on my 3rd play through full high honor best ending, teared up again to say goodbye to Arthur. Masterpiece
What’s awesome is John’s sentence “to be the man you deserve.” Which makes me realize how John understands the kind of man Arthur was. He knew there was something special about Arthur that Abigail loved knowing he never had that side. To be a real man on his own along with his family , he truly added so much to John’s character that makes me appreciate rdr1 way more and makes me feel so much more sorrow for his desire to return to this way of life after Ross makes him wipe the gang. He no longer wanted that life and wanted to keep being that man for Abigail. Man that breaks my heart
Has anyone else noticed the blue jay in all the cut scenes while building the house at Beechers Hope? I believe thats a re-incarnated Arthur watching over John, Uncle and Charles.
I have a feeling that Dutch thought that John maybe let Micah go,so he wanted to put John in trouble by killing Micah himself and knew John would shoot him too. So when Pinkertons find out they search for John and the troubles begin for him as it's in his account. Considering the way Dutch treats John in RDR1. Just a thought btw
@@israelrocha2878 yeah that's the reason I am not sure..but Pinkertons definelety won't investigate the death of unknown gangsters too..If they investigate there are more similar situations where it could get the Van Der Linde gang to the law. (As you know there were Cornwall's money behind Pinketons) Pinkertons are only interested in Micah as he is the one who helped them.
I don't normally comment on TH-cam. However, I just want to say that for 6k subscribers, this video was really well strung and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Love what you've done. I really enjoyed the epilogue as a set up for the story in RDR and there was definitely unfinished business. For me, although you play as Arthur and John, RDR2 is as much a story about Sadie Adler. Those O'Driscoll's did more than just kill her husband.
This ending was one of my favourite parts, because I’d always heard a lot about the story of RDR2 before playing it, but I never even heard about the epilogue, so it was a whole new story I knew nothing about going into it (I still have not played RDR1, mostly because I don’t have the patience to emulate or consoles with it).
Just found your channel through this video and you've definitely got a knack for script writing and editing my friend. This video is amazing. I never understood why people didn't appreciate the epilogue for this game. We all grew up loving John and to get revenge on Micah for Arthur AS JOHN was amazing. It really put the exclamation point on one of, if not the THE, greatest story ever told through video games. You've gained a subscriber out of me and I wish you well towards garnering the audience your quality of work deserves.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER for those who haven’t played rdr 1 i think the ending of rdr 2 for me was kinda erie and bittersweet because like many others i already knew john’s fate one thing that i think people overlook that the story tries to tell is the cycle of violence vengeance is an idiots game john taking out micha and his whole gang puts him on Edgar Ross’s radar and is a decision that eventually kills him also is something that was essentially taught to jack which makes him continue this cycle of violence and he becomes what they tried so hard for him not to become
Bro this comment made me realize that I forgot to put in the video Arthur saying that vengeance is a fools game. Darn. Thank you for the excellent comment and the insight. Appreciate it
I recently finished my second play through and can’t believe how many side missions i missed. The little love story between Arthur and Charlotte was is something thats not talked about a lot. In a different world Arthur lives the rest of his days peacefully with her
Congrats! Yeah it definitely is super sad. I was hoping he got that ending. Thanks for commenting and watching, I really appreciate it. Maybe I’ll do a video on Arthur and charlotte
The epilogue is the best part of the game, and critical to John as the central protagonist of the Redemption duology. Arthur and Jack are more than meaningful aspects to his life - along with developments of their own - but the John we knew from RDR1 was always there. Less refined and more hotheaded in his younger years, letting his doubts and Dutch's gaslighting cause him to be flagrant and irresponsible, but everything good that we love about him was there and it's good to see those qualities come into fruition. I respect the story's willingness to knock characters down a peg and make things more complicated.
Dutch killing Micah was one of the more jaw-dropping moments for me. I was so pissed on that mountain when things turned to Micahs favor and then Dutch takking down to us. But then Dutch aims at Micah and i just kept yelling Holy Shit Dutch shot Micah, omg omg omg Dutch killed Micah. It was very cathartic

I always liked the Epilogue, it made me feel like Chapter 2 again. Great video!
Thank you for noticing! I appreciate that. It’s one of the best soundtracks out there!
Thank you so much for the comment!
America venom is really the best western end song (yea it’s a song, not the name of the final mission, it’s the the song that plays out when John is alone I think.)
@@NA3RR overrated in my opinion. I really like the music that plays during the mission "red dead redemption"
@@LUNARBL00Mmoney hog ending or cliff climber ending
@TennisWall the entire mission in general, and the "cliff climber" ending. The money ending was just Arthur's guitar playing but the cliff ending had the violins that added so much more to it.
man the music when john is climbing up to kill micah is just epic. I love this game. 2018 was peak gaming
“Yeah, it’s just me”
Fr, rdr2 and God of War in the same year was one of the most memorable years of gaming ever.
The saddest part to me of Abigail leaving is she couldn’t have possibly written that note without help. Jack is already constantly in the middle of their two bickering, and now he has to write this note to his own father from his mother. Jack Marston has got one of the saddest stories in a real-world setting.
I was so touched by John’s story. It makes you wonder if we got the full John video game in rdr2 graphics who people would like more
“A kind lady in town helped me write this letter”
@@GlitchStock I’m a giant fool. A real doofus. A buffoon.
Jack’s story is still sad. Just not at all for the reason I wrote 🤣
@@bigchoppa783don’t sweat it lol but yeah jacks story is depressing in hindsight
@@GlitchStockAnd Jack sees everyone he loves die
0:14 what? arthur morgan literally died for the opposite of what john did. he constantly talked about how revenge was a fool’s game and how he just wanted john to go on and live a normal life, arthur absolutely would not have wanted john to go and chase micah lol
Good point
Technically he did live a "normal" life after Arthur's death. He just got rid of Micah in the process.
Micahs death was a bonus
I mean, for a majority of the epilogue, it is what Arthur sacrificed himself for, buying a ranch, building a house, escaping the outlaw life, and raising a family. All up into the last mission, that is, when he was blinded by vengeance, which is kinda the point of Rdr 1 and 2, a cycle of revenge. Dutch in Rdr2, John in Rdr2, and then Jack in Rdr1.
Charles subtly makes this point as well.
And it leads to John and his family's destruction.
I really liked the Epilogue part.. Since we all get to play as John once more.. It also gave backstory of him from RDR1.. RDR2 story was masterpiece.. characters of John and Arthur is unforgettable in gaming history
So true! Epilogue is epic. Appreciate the comment and watching.
@@PremoSaysThings Your welcome bro! Much love and appreciation from 🇧🇩🇧🇩

Sucks he was downgraded
I understand a lot of people find it boring. But part of me believes that some parts are purposely dull. Showing the contrast of life on the run in the gang vs. trying to settle down and be a family man.
It definitely picks up. But I think the purpose of milking cows and feeding chickens etc… is to give the player the same itch John would have obviously been feeling.
Knowing rockstar they definitely do it on purpose. The game was meant to start off slow at first that’s why towards the end everything is chaotic.
The epilogue is literally the best part of the game, playing again as John and getting revenge was just awesome
My fav part is where John physically morphs his hair and face ino arthurs lol jk I do love it despite John's fucked model
The only thing I whould change is the model of John Marston because I'm not feeling the Arthur Morgan redskin
Best part is a reach, but its one of the best parts for sure
Honestly if the epilogue didn’t exist it wouldn’t be a 10/10. It’s the perfect transition from the second game to the first game.
You have a cool dad
@@tirullow6313 yeah I got lucky. Pretty cool dude
That is one great story. Best of everything for you, your dad, and your son. It's great to see things that bring generations together

@@FreeBandz658I’m on second play through rn but I thought guarma was cool first time I played it
@@HeluvaWeirdo for sure, first time playthrough it was unexpected and a nice change. On a replay it’s one of the sections i rush through
Micah probably made a deal with the pinkertons that he would bait Dutch with the Blackwater money and then would have him arrested/killed.
I think that‘s why Dutch shot him because he knew that Micah was the rat at the end.
that actually blew my mind bro.
@@PremoSaysThings John: "What are you doing here, Dutch?"
Dutch: "Same as you, I suppose."
I forgot how much stuff actually went down during the epilogue. Thanks for the great analysis!
bro you and me both as i was editing this i was like dang there is so much. lol
It’s a love letter to the fans of RDR1 giving them more of Johns backstory.
❤❤❤❤
I didn’t play RDR1 until years after playing RDR2. After I finally got around to it, I grew so much more love and appreciation for the epilogue of RDR2. Bittersweet knowing what happens in the end. Truly masterful writing
31:39 Hahaha I had no idea Sadie says this if you check on her! “I will shoot you, if you stay here any longer!” 😂😂😂😂👏👏👏
She standin on business
Yeah, we’re kind of forced to push on ahead after shooting Joe, so it’s nice that the devs thought about people that go the other direction
This just adds a new layer of sadness playing through the original now. His death was already tough. Nice vid
this guy needs more recognition
Appreciate that so much! Glad you enjoyed the video
Dude I look forward to the Epilogue every time, one of my favorite parts of the game for some reason. I just love the cautiousness of it, and its one of those things that re-contextualizes RDR1. Seeing John build the place up, go through a period of missing Abigail and Jack and them finally getting this little piece of happiness makes the ending of RDR1 that much more tragic and bitter (in the best way)
This video is very well made! RDR1 and 2 both never fail to make me cry like a baby. Both games are truly amazing experiences.
Hey thank you so much! I really appreciate it. John is such a memorable character and I’m glad they did the epilogue
Really enjoyed the epilogue. It felt like a therapy session after what happened in the main story. Cathartic.
Some kids can never be satisfied. An amazing game like RDR 2 comes out and they will still find something to complain about.
I agree it’s insane. This game is a masterpiece beginning to end. Thanks for the comment and watching.
Tbh, the epilogue part 2 is in my top 3 best chapters@@PremoSaysThings

So naturally, John starts bounty hunting..

Appreciate that so much!
It was so crazy when I play the first time of the epilogue replay as Arthur Morgan the time in his shoes after Arthur's passing and now we're in John's shoes and the thing is that play as John things goes bad
When you switch to John it’s such a drastic difference! Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
I think the epilogue wraps up Jhon Marstons story to Red dead 1 nicely and also giving us the happy ending he deserved even we all know what going to happen after it.
Since rdr1 i fell in love with John. The epilogue felt like a dream to me. Love this fool ❤
Always put a smile on my face seeing him happy with his family.

For me the epilogue makes Arthurs story even sadder. You are right, John did all this through love wheras Arthur was incapable after what happened to his former partner and Issac. He wants to with Mary but he just can't
heart breaking really.
16:20 Noooo !!! You cut the best moment about Uncle’s speech, the « I wouldn’t even let my worst enemy take a shit in your house »
The scene where you recreate the cover of the first game is so fucking cool it reminded me of how cool John was
Great video.
Not a very good one man army in this game since Micah pins him down behind a crate until Sadie magically appears on the mountain with no explanation as to how she got there
Oooh brother the transition of John holding the shotgun from his jim miltion outfit to his bounty hunter outfit is just perfection ❤
Uncle roasting tf outta John is the BEST part
And to think that this 40 minute video covers only the last 10% of the entire game. Great work.
i have a feeling tons more subscribers are on the way for this channel. Great video!
This is truly a well crafted video of this part of the game. I just beat the game on my 3rd play through full high honor best ending, teared up again to say goodbye to Arthur. Masterpiece
Thanks! 3rd play through is awesome! I’m on my second - doing high honor this time
What’s awesome is John’s sentence “to be the man you deserve.” Which makes me realize how John understands the kind of man Arthur was.
Uncle ripping into John for 2 minutes straight will always be great
What an amazing video you’ve made. Thank you! Best game of all time!!
Wow thank you! I appreciate that a lot
Makes no sense bc of all the hundreds of dead bodies even if micah got away
@@israelrocha2878 yeah that's the reason I am not sure..but Pinkertons definelety won't investigate the death of unknown gangsters too..If they investigate there are more similar situations where it could get the Van Der Linde gang to the law. (As you know there were Cornwall's money behind Pinketons) Pinkertons are only interested in Micah as he is the one who helped them.
I don't normally comment on TH-cam. However, I just want to say that for 6k subscribers, this video was really well strung and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you that means a lot to me.
Love what you've done. I really enjoyed the epilogue as a set up for the story in RDR and there was definitely unfinished business. For me, although you play as Arthur and John, RDR2 is as much a story about Sadie Adler. Those O'Driscoll's did more than just kill her husband.
Thank you! I will do a Sadie character video at some point. She is a badass
9:22 She also reffers to him as "her son" in base game. For sure in "Blood Feuds Ancient and Modern" and maybe sometime else
2nd most underrated is this video. Well done 👏
Thank you very much! I appreciate that
This final scene with “Red” musica in the background is really amazing. Thank you.
Same! I think going into rdr2 without knowledge of rdr is a special thing
24:48 I never picked up on that call back until just now. It made me smile.
"She reckoned I shouldn't waste my time killin ya. But I felt different." So many amazing lines in this story.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER for those who haven’t played rdr 1
i think the ending of rdr 2 for me was kinda erie and bittersweet because like many others i already knew john’s fate one thing that i think people overlook that the story tries to tell is the cycle of violence vengeance is an idiots game john taking out micha and his whole gang puts him on Edgar Ross’s radar and is a decision that eventually kills him also is something that was essentially taught to jack which makes him continue this cycle of violence and he becomes what they tried so hard for him not to become
Bro this comment made me realize that I forgot to put in the video Arthur saying that vengeance is a fools game. Darn.
Thank you for the excellent comment and the insight. Appreciate it
That's the trouble with payback. It never ends.
I almost forgot how much this game made me cry. What a masterpiece. And great work here on this video
The editing of this video is spot on!
Having Ross and Fordham find John because he couldn't just leave Micah and had to get revenge is such clever storytelling
The best moment of the game is definitely Arthur saying I’m afraid
Man your videos are by far the best I’ve seen regarding RDR2, it’s a crime that you have less then 10k subscribers. Keep up the great work.
That surprised me as well. I couldn’t believe it and I was left in awe. And the way he says nothing. Bro. Amazing.
