Agreed, the tone from I'm broken was the first Pantera song I've ever heard, so I remember the tone very well, I don't think I could've guessed that it was not the original.

Man.. Slaughtered really shows you how much Vinnie had to do with the groove of Pantera. Mad drummer and awesome chemistry with Dime.
The great southern trendkill really showcases his groove, he does his shit all album long
The more I listen to Pantera the more I catch little moments like that. In the song Piss, Vinnie really changes the whole feel while Dime plays the chorus riff just abt the same. It has a really cool effect on the feel of the song. That and no one seems to get the drumming quite right on Becoming. They get close but always a little off. That and 13 Steps have the sickest drum intros

Edit: This is a great way to introduce the younger audience to some great Dime stuff.
I feel that Pantera was the pinnacle of Metal as a broad genre. It’s hard to describe, but they hit a sweet spot at the top of the curve.
I agree. Plus at that time they were the tightest band out there. Today it’s Gojira (which I love) and Meshuggah (which I don’t).

It's because everybody was incredible with their instrument. Dime and Vinnie are a given, but Rex's bass was fucking killer too. Add Phil's vocals on top of all that and this is really the greatest metal band ever.

Agreed, in my top 3 favorite tracks of theirs! Every time I put far beyond driven on, I always start it off with SLAUGHTERED!!!
Slaughtered is a pretty well know song, but most people forget about the part they played and only focus on the main riffs. The double paradiddle groove with Dimebag's evil sounding syncopation is Dime and Vinnie Magic at it's finest.

Or they have one off riffs that absolutely rip! Like in This Love and Great Southern Trendkill. Amazing riffs thrown in for such short amounts of time. This Love has a friggin sick riff that he plays for 4 measures and never touches again

It’s Amplitube CFH plugin. Man, you should seriously get this plugin if you play guitar, it doesn’t get any closer to Dime’s CFH tone.
@@supermastater I doubt it & its not plug & play! Ola has been chasing this tone probably since he started playing guitar from what ive seen & god only knows after im guessing extreme trial & error how he achieved it!

My favorite Pantera riff is from “By Demons Be Driven”, both the intro and verse.
I agree, that's got to be one of Dime's best riffs he wrote, it often gets overlooked though for some reason.
Pantera is riff stack after riff stack. To play one Pantera riff thoroughly is to risk committing to the whole song. What we need is Pantera cover channel. BDBD is nearly my favorite Pantera song, but then again so is Regular People, and honestly every single track off the first 4 albums.

You know, kept going and she breaks out this pipe dude, dead serious man , breaks out this fukkin crank pipe dude. Starts loadin it up she's just gonna fire it up in my house, you know? Couldn't get a word in... That lasted about 2 hours... Of course she got kicked with the pipe, went down, but uhh...

TGST itself has to be one of the best songs of all time. The way it develops is soooooo sick!
I love that guitar 'solo' if you could call it that, its like a fucking layer cake, it really sets the tone for the record. So bluesy, southern rocky and thick, always been one of my favorites. 10s too, and of course Floods...that album has a special place in my heart.
