I still think Ian Flynn can take Infinite & turn him into an awesome villain. I would suggest doubling down on his insanity to where his entire backstory was fake. Possibly have him take inspiration from Captain Basilisx. The average fan would probably rather have Infinite be recycled into more plots than have Zavok fill that role like he did in Team Sonic Racing.
Another possible character fix could be making Infinite just… a manchild. A pathetic excuse poorly disguising himself as a badass with an ego through the moon, who suddenly got more power than he ever deserved (sorta taking inspiration from Tighten from Megamind). Something that could add to this is making him not as much of a Sonic villain, and instead have him as a sort of Shadow villain. Think of it; the duality of two edgelords, except one of them has care, compassion, empathy, and genuine reasons in his backstory for why he acts the way he does; while the other has no self-control, a superiority complex going through the roof, with the only reason for his actions being a grudge about the one time someone bested him.
Or maybe a being created by the phantom ruby that could control reality or open dimension to other worlds. I mean I have a theory that he pulled other villians from other worlds, or in this case, games if Sonic lost, and bring them in Sonic Forces. An early version of Sonic Prime if you will.
what Infinite needs is a magic touch from Ian Flynn as he was able to turn Zavok (a character most people don't care about) into a amazing character most people do like, with in just a few issues of the IDW comics that shows that the problem is not the characters, but the writers

Like frontiers really shown how you can bring back edge without it being cringe, the first boss has outright screamo elements in it but it's actually complemented by the damn giant mech battle designed to be a bombastic set piece. Infinite is meant to be someone who can manipulate reality and does it exactly once with making giant snakes while flipping gravity and we don't even get to see the army knuckles is crying that he lead to die. That's a point when did knuckles become a commander? He's always been more of a loner character or even in comedic series is arogant enough to think he's leading the group. I don't think leading the group of friends translates to commanding an army lol, if anything tails would be a better fit since he's the strategist of the group lol
Yeah I honestly genuinely prefer Lyric over Infinite, Lyric had something going on with his problems with the ancients, he at least had a good backstory
I think they could do a rework of his story showing his past where he would be condemned several times by someone (maybe his father) who called him weak and at a certain point he swears to himself that he will not be weaker (this could explain the outbreak of him when he was humiliated by Shadow), and after the end of Forces, he would wake up alone somewhere and without the Phantom Ruby and from then on he would try to survive. At a certain point he meets a group of people who are in the same situation as his, these people try to help him, but he always refuses because he feels weak depending on the help of others, but these people help him with his sense of inferiority, saying that he was not weak because of it, and with time, he starts to let go of his fears and becomes attached to these people. This could be an ending to his story, or it could just be a redemption and he will appear in future games or stories. Everything I've said here is just a big summary of what I thought for him, but I hoop you can get what I wanted to convey and I think it would help to improve Infinity as a character.

A bit late comment, but I will still say something about the experience with Sonic Forces that I played during this summer break. I think the concept of Infinite's character was good. The problem, however, was the game itself, which in my opinion had many things that made the game worse, including the addition of Classic Sonic, or even spoiling the plot related to our Jackal. First of all, they should focus a bit more on his past so that his motives, which are very important, would be more substantiated. My suggestion is to make the avatar an old friend of Infinite who knew exactly about his ailments that could also progress to his deep PTSD. I will repeat myself as at the beginning of the comment, the concept of Infinite was good, but it should be fixed, a good example would be to make a game in which he also acts as the main antagonist, or a complete rework of Sonic Forces. #JusticeForInfinite

Your video was not only informative and well thought out but entertaining too. I loved all the jokes you made. Infinite has potential as a villain but not in Forces. Because like you said, he’s pretty much a nothing-burger edgelord character, seemingly copying Shadow’s personality without doing anything that made Shadow an interesting character.
Infinite has so much potential based on his original theme song, but it was wasted by the writers of Forces. Give the new writers a chance with him, and they could turn him into a GREAT villain. But yeah, he's a basic bland anime villain who considers everyone beneath him for now.
Infinite has a blazingly huge ego and an explosively bad inferiority/superiority complex. And in fact, I wish I knew if this was deliberate or not. This guy gets personally offended when he is defeated by the ULTIMATE LIFEFORM. So Shadow called him names? Poor baby, doesn't he know the guy has less friends than his own wiping hand? And I really do not read him as caring that his Squad got wiped - while at the same time wondering, is this just bad writing? Did he care, and we're not seeing it cuz of all that damn dialogue in the way? Cuz I sure don't feel sympathetic for him when he volunteered. And the complete flip-side is that when SHADOW breaks free of a rather lack-lustre Virtual Reality, something that is meant to be screwing with his mind and playing on his fears, Infinite doesn't seem to care at all. If you can't crush Shadow's crippled psyche, who can you crush? If he can't fight tough, Infinite could try and fight smart. Mephiles didn't have much muscle until the end, so he used his brains to manipulate others into position. Infinite just falls in line with Eggman. What would be cool, would be EMPHASISING what a lapdog Infinite really is, despite all the power he has been given. Perhaps if Eggman told us that he chose Infinite as his subject BECAUSE he wants to be powerful but has no ambition for what to do with it. But the game still seems to want us to be impressed by him in some way. At the same time, Infinite DOESN'T use his powers properly. He's not a scientist and I doubt he even knows how the Ruby works. Shadow says that whatever the Phantom Ruby makes is as powerful as the real thing... but Infinite doesn't, for example, set Chaos Four on Tails. And so I reckon that the Phantom Ruby can ONLY create things to be as powerful as the real thing. Super Shadow had all seven Chaos Emeralds, and the Phantom Ruby can't turn out that kind of power. My point being that even if it could simulate somebody more powerful than Shadow, it can't simulate a less powerful version of Super Shadow either. Infinite doesn't explore his powers, or try to stretch them. All of the enemies he creates copies for once worked for Eggman and all turned on him when they became too powerful, and so it's easy to believe he even took his cues from there. Ironically, this is exactly how an 'ultimate mercenary' would behave. They wouldn't be imaginative and they wouldn't try to do anything special, or alter their contract, they'd just do exactly what they were told, attack the people they were ordered to attack, with the weapons they were told to use. Infinite IS pathetic.
Dark Gaia is those Minions as seen when a woman during night acts creul about kids, I think they were rebellious and that alone really frightened me but it's not until actually seeing Dark Gaia that the literal monster is even more frightening and the Perfect Transformation is grotesque and nightmare fuel, that is peak evil and dark. Now for Sage, they should base her off of Movie Alessa Gillespie where the little girl you see is Dark Alessa and an actual demon while coming from a tragic burned woman who is well...Alessa, the edgy line DA is the devil or whatever it was actually works better than it sounds.
As much as I love Infinite's design, character idea, or the analyzes written about him that explain him, I just don't like the Sonic Forces game itself. I am able to say that Infinite is not a weak character or badly written, and the game itself belongs to the trash.

At first, I absolutely hated Infinite. His backstory was wonky, he was over-the-top edgy in design and personality, and he didn't do anything. Basically everything you said in the video. But over time he... grew on me, to be honest. I can see the gold buried deeply, and I mean DEEPLY, beneath the in general horrible writing of Forces. Infinite was not an egotist before the events of Forces, he was a leader but also a pushover. Eggman slapped him and he decided "hehehe I will join you.. you seem cool..." He doesn't even monologue to Shadow and then gets clapped. Now normally I imagine this would just be another thing for him to just let roll off his back, you win some you lose some. However, it's said that Shadow *annihilated* his crew. Which implies that Shadow straight up killed them. Infinite's entire squad was gone and it was all Shadow's fault. Soon after he comes face to face with Shadow and prepares to enact vengeance upon him for the death of his crew. Maybe even people he considered friends. And then he just... loses outright. He gets clapped called worthless, and isn't even worth being killed. He failed not only himself, but his squad as well. That'd do insane psychic damage to *anyone*. So by the time of Forces, he's thrown away his past, thrown away his identity, and thrown away his memories in an attempt to hide from his failure. Despite the ruby's power, he probably knows deep down that he IS weak. So he monologues and becomes an egotist as a front to hide that from both himself and everyone around him. His mind is probably a mess as he's sorting through anger, sadness, and insecurity all the while trying to figure out how to use the Phantom Ruby effectively. He has no choice but to follow Eggman because he can't think straight and has no direction. Now. Was any of this thought about in-depth like that or intentional? Pffft fuck no. The writers for Forces probably had their thumbs up their asses the entire time and just wrote whatever. I mean look at Tails lol. The Infinite we got in Forces is dogshit and probably wasn't thought about past "lol he edgy". My point here is that while his first outing wasn't great, the potential IS there and I think Infinite should be given a second chance, not just the actor. If Flynn could... sort of justify Tails' actions in Forces, he can probably fix Infinite. Also Infinite in the Olympic Games wearing a swimsuit would be hilarious

Make him pull a COVID on the entire Sonic universe where every time he dies he can always come back and generate more powerful variants of himself to the point that the entire world (including Sonic’s friends) is hopeless to stop him. 2. Give Infinite new powers like the ability to infect almost everyone with his newly created virus that is potentially more powerful than COVID. 3. Lastly, make Infinite win by killing not just Sonic, but also everyone else including Eggman, using creative powers and abilities that stem from writing that is more on par with the 2000s Sonic games and comics than the Meta Era.

Erazor Djin being one of few villains who managed to actively anger Sonic, came one of the closest to actually killing him due to the curse he placed on him and his status as an implied domestic abuser made taking him down quite sattisfying. And there is Merlina, who stands out among the series' villains for being a well intentioned extremist, seeing her kingdom was doomed and trying to use the power of Excalibur's scabbard to keep it from ending. The scene before the final battle with her is also one of my favorite cutscenes in the series, both establishing her threat level and showing off how Sonic refuses to give up no matter how hard someone is beating him.

I want that they bring him back, change a bit of his character and Boom. He is a messenary, who fight with his sword. He has a mask because Shadow defeated him once (scar on left eye + blinded) and killed his team (was stupid enouth to attack him even when Shadow gave hime a chance to walk away and paid the prise for that). He is wearing his mask because he is ashemed of himself and hatred of himless for losing his hole squad and also family. He is hired by Egman as a mesenary and fight against Sonic (without ruby and just with sword or got the ruby as powerup). Also wants to kill Shadow even if he could die by using the ruby. Or something simular and so you have great character.
I think you were a bit insulting to Lyric from sonic boom in my opinion yes he's not the best but his backstory and character is way better than Infinite

Sonic Forces is so bad that I legitimately forgot that I actually did play some of it to the point that I apparently didn't rank it on my Backloggd until just now as I thought about it while watching this video lmao. Like at least when I think back on Shadow the Hedgehog, sure it was flaming garbage, but it was funny, it had some interesting gameplay design and it just had a shit ton of replayability. And hell, I'd say it kept more true to Shadows character than Boom and Forces did even WITH all of the various endings. Anyhow the best part about Infinite is his theme song. Everything else is garbage.
Let's be honest if only the game's boss battles, mostly Infinit's weren't the same thing almost everytime and maybe harder it would have been way more fun. It was so easy to beat him on hard mode, the normal levels had more danger of anyone falling off than losing to him. I do know that the game was made to be easy, I mean an average level time of 3 mins, but still such a cool design to what I would say one of the easiest and most worthless boss ever
At least, the levels were longer than in Sonic forces, more varied and the villains were created to be obstacles and not deep characters (they are still bad but aren't as wasted as Infinite).

A bit late comment, but I will still say something about the experience with Sonic Forces that I played during this summer break. I think the concept of Infinite's character was good. The problem, however, was the game itself, which in my opinion had many things that made the game worse, including the addition of Classic Sonic, or even spoiling the plot related to our Jackal. First of all, they should focus a bit more on his past so that his motives, which are very important, would be more substantiated. My suggestion is to make the avatar an old friend of Infinite who knew exactly about his ailments that could also progress to his deep PTSD. I will repeat myself as at the beginning of the comment, the concept of Infinite was good, but it should be fixed, a good example would be to make a game in which he also acts as the main antagonist, or a complete rework of Sonic Forces.

Infinite has potential as a villain but not in Forces. Because like you said, he’s pretty much a nothing-burger edgelord character, seemingly copying Shadow’s personality without doing anything that made Shadow an interesting character.
Infinite has so much potential based on his original theme song, but it was wasted by the writers of Forces. Give the new writers a chance with him, and they could turn him into a GREAT villain. But yeah, he's a basic bland anime villain who considers everyone beneath him for now.
Infinite has a blazingly huge ego and an explosively bad inferiority/superiority complex. And in fact, I wish I knew if this was deliberate or not. This guy gets personally offended when he is defeated by the ULTIMATE LIFEFORM. So Shadow called him names? Poor baby, doesn't he know the guy has less friends than his own wiping hand? And I really do not read him as caring that his Squad got wiped - while at the same time wondering, is this just bad writing? Did he care, and we're not seeing it cuz of all that damn dialogue in the way? Cuz I sure don't feel sympathetic for him when he volunteered.
And the complete flip-side is that when SHADOW breaks free of a rather lack-lustre Virtual Reality, something that is meant to be screwing with his mind and playing on his fears, Infinite doesn't seem to care at all. If you can't crush Shadow's crippled psyche, who can you crush? If he can't fight tough, Infinite could try and fight smart. Mephiles didn't have much muscle until the end, so he used his brains to manipulate others into position. Infinite just falls in line with Eggman. What would be cool, would be EMPHASISING what a lapdog Infinite really is, despite all the power he has been given. Perhaps if Eggman told us that he chose Infinite as his subject BECAUSE he wants to be powerful but has no ambition for what to do with it. But the game still seems to want us to be impressed by him in some way.
At the same time, Infinite DOESN'T use his powers properly. He's not a scientist and I doubt he even knows how the Ruby works. Shadow says that whatever the Phantom Ruby makes is as powerful as the real thing... but Infinite doesn't, for example, set Chaos Four on Tails. And so I reckon that the Phantom Ruby can ONLY create things to be as powerful as the real thing. Super Shadow had all seven Chaos Emeralds, and the Phantom Ruby can't turn out that kind of power. My point being that even if it could simulate somebody more powerful than Shadow, it can't simulate a less powerful version of Super Shadow either. Infinite doesn't explore his powers, or try to stretch them. All of the enemies he creates copies for once worked for Eggman and all turned on him when they became too powerful, and so it's easy to believe he even took his cues from there.
Ironically, this is exactly how an 'ultimate mercenary' would behave. They wouldn't be imaginative and they wouldn't try to do anything special, or alter their contract, they'd just do exactly what they were told, attack the people they were ordered to attack, with the weapons they were told to use. Infinite IS pathetic.
Dark Gaia is those Minions as seen when a woman during night acts creul about kids, I think they were rebellious and that alone really frightened me but it's not until actually seeing Dark Gaia that the literal monster is even more frightening and the Perfect Transformation is grotesque and nightmare fuel, that is peak evil and dark.
Now for Sage, they should base her off of Movie Alessa Gillespie where the little girl you see is Dark Alessa and an actual demon while coming from a tragic burned woman who is well...Alessa, the edgy line DA is the devil or whatever it was actually works better than it sounds.
As much as I love Infinite's design, character idea, or the analyzes written about him that explain him, I just don't like the Sonic Forces game itself. I am able to say that Infinite is not a weak character or badly written, and the game itself belongs to the trash.
I didn't understand the phantom ruby to manipulate time space but rather to bring illusions into reality, but I fully agree that it was underutilized and that infinite was full of himself
At first, I absolutely hated Infinite. His backstory was wonky, he was over-the-top edgy in design and personality, and he didn't do anything. Basically everything you said in the video. But over time he... grew on me, to be honest. I can see the gold buried deeply, and I mean DEEPLY, beneath the in general horrible writing of Forces. Infinite was not an egotist before the events of Forces, he was a leader but also a pushover. Eggman slapped him and he decided "hehehe I will join you.. you seem cool..." He doesn't even monologue to Shadow and then gets clapped.
Now normally I imagine this would just be another thing for him to just let roll off his back, you win some you lose some. However, it's said that Shadow *annihilated* his crew. Which implies that Shadow straight up killed them. Infinite's entire squad was gone and it was all Shadow's fault. Soon after he comes face to face with Shadow and prepares to enact vengeance upon him for the death of his crew. Maybe even people he considered friends. And then he just... loses outright. He gets clapped called worthless, and isn't even worth being killed. He failed not only himself, but his squad as well. That'd do insane psychic damage to *anyone*. So by the time of Forces, he's thrown away his past, thrown away his identity, and thrown away his memories in an attempt to hide from his failure. Despite the ruby's power, he probably knows deep down that he IS weak. So he monologues and becomes an egotist as a front to hide that from both himself and everyone around him. His mind is probably a mess as he's sorting through anger, sadness, and insecurity all the while trying to figure out how to use the Phantom Ruby effectively. He has no choice but to follow Eggman because he can't think straight and has no direction.
Now. Was any of this thought about in-depth like that or intentional? Pffft fuck no. The writers for Forces probably had their thumbs up their asses the entire time and just wrote whatever. I mean look at Tails lol. The Infinite we got in Forces is dogshit and probably wasn't thought about past "lol he edgy". My point here is that while his first outing wasn't great, the potential IS there and I think Infinite should be given a second chance, not just the actor. If Flynn could... sort of justify Tails' actions in Forces, he can probably fix Infinite.
Also Infinite in the Olympic Games wearing a swimsuit would be hilarious

Here are some ways to fix Infinite:
1. Make him pull a COVID on the entire Sonic universe where every time he dies he can always come back and generate more powerful variants of himself to the point that the entire world (including Sonic’s friends) is hopeless to stop him.
2. Give Infinite new powers like the ability to infect almost everyone with his newly created virus that is potentially more powerful than COVID.
3. Lastly, make Infinite win by killing not just Sonic, but also everyone else including Eggman, using creative powers and abilities that stem from writing that is more on par with the 2000s Sonic games and comics than the Meta Era.

Erazor Djin being one of few villains who managed to actively anger Sonic, came one of the closest to actually killing him due to the curse he placed on him and his status as an implied domestic abuser made taking him down quite sattisfying. And there is Merlina, who stands out among the series' villains for being a well intentioned extremist, seeing her kingdom was doomed and trying to use the power of Excalibur's scabbard to keep it from ending. The scene before the final battle with her is also one of my favorite cutscenes in the series, both establishing her threat level and showing off how Sonic refuses to give up no matter how hard someone is beating him.

He has a mask because Shadow defeated him once (scar on left eye + blinded) and killed his team (was stupid enouth to attack him even when Shadow gave hime a chance to walk away and paid the prise for that). He is wearing his mask because he is ashemed of himself and hatred of himless for losing his hole squad and also family.
He is hired by Egman as a mesenary and fight against Sonic (without ruby and just with sword or got the ruby as powerup).
Also wants to kill Shadow even if he could die by using the ruby.

Sonic Forces is so bad that I legitimately forgot that I actually did play some of it to the point that I apparently didn't rank it on my Backloggd until just now as I thought about it while watching this video lmao.
Like at least when I think back on Shadow the Hedgehog, sure it was flaming garbage, but it was funny, it had some interesting gameplay design and it just had a shit ton of replayability. And hell, I'd say it kept more true to Shadows character than Boom and Forces did even WITH all of the various endings.
Anyhow the best part about Infinite is his theme song. Everything else is garbage.
Let's be honest if only the game's boss battles, mostly Infinit's weren't the same thing almost everytime and maybe harder it would have been way more fun. It was so easy to beat him on hard mode, the normal levels had more danger of anyone falling off than losing to him. I do know that the game was made to be easy, I mean an average level time of 3 mins, but still such a cool design to what I would say one of the easiest and most worthless boss ever
