This is the series that lives up to its accolades. The dog issue isn't just a good story it teaches you to think like the dog character, so by the end you get exactly what is going on. The same goes for the issue after the hearing loss when you see what it's like for a deaf person. The sign language and how reading lips isn't as exact as we think it is. Matt and David did an amazing job on this series. It's hands down my favorite comic.

The reach of Fraction and Aja’s Hawkeye run is insane. So many street level characters have tried to reach the highs of this run and getting this level of comedy and writing. Granted I think there will always be something special about this run that no one will capture.

@@hefoughtabear118 Yep just looking at how memorable most of the modern Daredevil runs have been like Bendis, Brubaker, Waid, and Zdarsky show how great he is as a street level hero. Alias as well really highlights how fascinating the normal perspective of a superhuman is instead of constantly fighting giant superhuman threats. Moon Knight, I feel also has had a good variety of storytelling from Doug Moench, Charlie Huston, and Jeff Lemire each adding an interesting perspective to the character.

There was a time when Hawkeye was quite popular. He was the main lead of a couple of limited series and they used him to anchor a second Avengers title-the West Coast Avengers. And he remains a favorite amongst long time readers. He was also leader of the Thunderbolts for a while. And there are other Avengers with no powers like the Black Knight, Mockingbird, Black Widow, etc.
Sal is right, most of the MCU just kills rather indiscriminately and no one bats an eye but DC characters do it and everyone freaks out about it. lol

    • @tonyjohnson5669

It has to do with batman and superman being more iconic than most marvel superheroes ever were until recently. Batman for the longest time was/is defined by his inability to kill villians and has had multiple popular iteration harping on that fact. Superman due to being the paragon of justice, the archetype of the perfect man/superhero, and many peoples first exposure to Superman being either the movies or the original animated cartoon from the mid 1900s also gets that treatment where he can't kill and that he can solve any problem with either talking or necessary, but not deadly force. Most Marvel characters aren't treated that way ,because quite honestly nobody gave a crap about them before the MCU, so there is no preconceived notions or nostalgia for how the character is supposed to be.

When I was like 14 and this run was coming out I was a huge fan. Fraction was having an autograph signing in a comic book shop that was decently closed to where I lived. I was so exciting but I didn’t have anyone to take me so I begged my sister, who I wasn’t very close with, to give me a ride. I told her the signing started at 3 and ended at 5 so if we could please be there as early as possible. My sister didn’t pay that much attention and she somehow thought that it actually started at 5.
So she came and picked me up and dropped me off at 5. Fraction stayed there for 2 hours extra or so but I was in the back of the line. I was really non confrontational and shy so I didn’t say anything to my sister and I just stood there for 3 hours completely alone knowing full well I wasn’t going to be able to meet Fraction.
Every time I think about this I get really sad. Thank you for coming to my vent comment.
