Firestar had a costume and mask change courtesy of Hank Pym. Previous to the restart of Avengers, Firestar's X-gene had a deficiency that didn't protect her body from her microwave powers, leaving her susceptible to cancer. Hank created that costume to absorb the microwave radiation.
So her ability to shoot and catch on fire was not something that her body had adapted to via the X gene, so she could use her powers but they acted as if she were any human that suddenly started shooting off fire… fitting. Yet at the same time, feels like the equivalent of if Ice Man constantly gave himself Frostbite. Guess she’s just a rank below in that sense
I love how Ultron subverts the whole “the evil AI is only evil because it doesn’t understand human emotions” trope by just being the pettiest motherfucker in the entire Marvel universe. Man, it's a crying shame these recent uploads aren't getting the views they deserve. GL-GA, War of the Gods, Round Robin, now this? All hilarious, great episodes that genuinely make me curious about picking up the books. Hell, I was looking at a Moon Knight Omnibus because of Round Robin.
I loved Sal's "rant" about publishing these stories, cuz he's absolutely correct. I hate wanting to read or own these seminal stories only for them to be out of print. It's asinine.

This is hands down my favorite Avengers story ever. I got into Avengers when Busiek and Perez relaunched the title, and this story in particular is what hooked me.
With the exception of Spiderman and Fantatic Four up to 2015 every Silver Age Marvel hero you think of has been canceled at least once. It just took the right team coming together to give them that iconic run that then everyone else will be judged against.
I’m sad we lost Perez, the guy drew the definitive Teen Titans, Wonder Woman, and Avengers. The fact they are releasing his works en masse later this year is great for so many of us who didn’t get to buy them before.
Talking about the Marvel printing, They still print the Dragonlance books and they are 40 years old. How many old Stephen King stories do they reprint and keep stocked? One of the reasons I got more into DC is because I could find old GL and WW trades.

Ultron was destroyed for good for a while, I sometime after Avengers Disassembled. But then he appeared in outer space, as the main antagonist of the Annihilation Conquest run. Ultron uploaded himself into out space at this point, so even when you unmake every backup on Earth, there's always another one just chilling with the Shiar or something that will inevitably find its way back to earth.
JLA Avengers is such a treat and testament through and through! Can't wait to see the revisit and if y'all cover the Just Imagine series where Stan Lee has his take on the DC heroes! A lesser known sorta-crossover unintentional event lol
Avengers' popularity has become very underrated in recent years. People say they've only become popular because of the movies, and for general audiences that may be true, but in the comic world i think they've done alright; even if they weren't the most popular series, the Avengers have been the biggest/most famous team in the Marvel universe (in the actual universe, I mean) for decades. Honestly, I can't believe they would've had such a major push in the canon (both in solo comics and as a team) for so long if no one was reading them. I mean, I was into comics for a good few years before all these movies all blew up and I thought the Avengers were one of the biggest things to know about (if you were into comics). And even outside of the fandom, quite a few people knew about the Hulk and Captain America, and I remember even seeing Iron Man and Thor pop up from time to time in the "normal" world. I can't help but think that Sal has a perception of them being nothing because they were at maybe their lowest point during his youth. But even though they've long been outsold by Spider-Man or X-Men (who, together, probably accounted for the majority of sales at their height) it's still been one of the more popular titles of many Marvel has had.
