This should honestly theoretically be the final story set in this DC Universe. How do you go back to the status quo after all of this? Why would the villains go back to being villains after everything that happened. The world obtained peace. Thats one problem with storytelling in comics the status quo comes back and significant changes never stick.
@@deviousj5868 but if you make status quo changes, the fans and higher-ups fight tooth and nail, as hard as possible, to revert things to the way they were as soon as possible. Keeping those characters in a state of perpetual freeze. All so that they can complain that nothing ever changes and the companies are just selling them the same story over again. You can not win. Not with comic book fans. Marvel/DC comics and their relationship with continuity is broken beyond repair. All because writers and artist face criticism if they even try to tell diffrent stories. Look at the backlash to Hydra-Cap. Look how many fans threw a giant hissyfit when Marvel kind of, sort of, started having some of their heroes replaced by other characters. Look at the fan freakouts now to any and all changes in the MCU, where diverse change-ups are met with moronic complaints of things being "too woke" or whatever. All of those reactions were unwaranted, considering how miniscule the changes really were. And all of them end with people complaining that it's not the same anymore, pining for more of the old stuff. I have been a comic book fan and reader for almost 30 years and in my expert opinion all heroes should be legacy heroes by now. With few exceptions for things like gods or immortals. And even those should be also be subject to changes. For example, by now Damian Wayne should be wrapping up his tenure as Batman and training his successor for the role, while also taking care of an elderly Dick Grayson as he hits the twilight years of his life. Comic heroes should age in real time, grow old, get married, find out they're gay, find out they're straight, fall in love, get divorced, die, lose an arm, lose a loved one, start a family, go back to school, get a new job, quit their job, retire, get mind controled by someone else, relinquish their mantel to someone else, explore other cities, mature, regress, become mentors to the next generation of hereos, turn evil, do good things, do bad things, do unforgivable things, find redemption, become addicts, become sober, die again, etc. Just like real people do in real life. No retcons, no take-backs, no reboots. If a decision in a story causes you to no longer enjoy that character? Oh well. Too bad for you. Get over it. The fight against Castle Bat could have been an entire issue, honestly. Imagine the Justice League fighting hordes of demonic Batmen across an endlessly-changing cityscape, with moving walls trying to crush them or block their path, literal hostile architecture, and massive sinkholes opening up in the streets trying to devour them. And _then,_ to top it all off, the Castle could transform into a giant Unicron-style mech to crush them once and for all, and the League could form their own mech to fight it in a callback to the first issue of the original Dark Nights series! To this very day, Todd McFarlane is still making figures of Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal. Because "It looks super cool". The ToddFather wills it so.
My inner high school metalhead was about to smuggly comment how "One" isn't a Death Metal song. But then it hit me, the song is all about death/wanting to die and it's in the genre of thrash metal. Therefore, by pure technicality, it's a Death Metal song.... you win this time In all seriousness, that intro had me laughing my ass off. If the intro had me that hyped, I can't wait to finish this episode. Love you guys. Thanks for sharing your love of comics with the world. Keep being awesome

I too relate with her, it would be a nightmare if I had to sit and listen to an explanation of Dark Nights Death Metal…and get terrified of the possibility of writers doing a Dark Perpetua
It would be cool if James Gunn's reboot of the DCU starts with a Justice Society film set in the 50's, and a solo Superman film. Have Wonder Woman as a member of the Justice Society and then build the universe from there
Ben: “There are too many Green Lanterns” DC: “so you say you want another one and 2 teen green lanterns, huh?” Funnily enough, I would say the main lanterns present in this book (Hal, John, Guy, Kyle and Jess) are the only lanterns you really need but the DCU would feel empty with them.
OH MY GAWD!!!! Now this is a very pleasant surprise. I despise every DC Metal event, but you guys make anything Quite Enjoyable. Merry X-Mas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

Glad to hear you breakdown this event. When I read it for the first time, I had to take a moment to process what exactly was happening. Love to hear your thoughts on Justice by Alex Ross, Jim Krueger, and Doug Braithwaite. Keep up the good work and enjoy the holidays! 🎄✌️
Ethan read Justice before which was very briefly referenced on the Earth X episode or at least it seemed like he already read it.
Broke out into a huge smile laughing hearing Sal and Ben break out into ‘One.’ What an excellent start to a Holiday episode 😂
Love how ya threw away 52 at the beginning (still looking forward to that review).
Also, someone give Tiffany a hug at the beginning.
ComicPop presents “Dark Nights Death Metal”, or “Why Sal is Sleeping on the Couch for the next few Months.”
42:53 Sal just made a whole Dr. Seuss tongue twister right there XD!
To this very day, Todd McFarlane is still making figures of Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal. Because "It looks super cool". The ToddFather wills it so.
I love that Sal gave Tiff a Twilight Zone twist for Christmas 🤣🤣🤣
Have a good holidays all
My inner high school metalhead was about to smuggly comment how "One" isn't a Death Metal song. But then it hit me, the song is all about death/wanting to die and it's in the genre of thrash metal. Therefore, by pure technicality, it's a Death Metal song.... you win this time
In all seriousness, that intro had me laughing my ass off. If the intro had me that hyped, I can't wait to finish this episode. Love you guys. Thanks for sharing your love of comics with the world. Keep being awesome
Barry's mom's skeleton jumping out of a Flash ring is hilarious. Is it just a pile of bones? Do you have to miniaturize them every time you want to put them back in the ring?
This is the first time I've ever felt sorry for Tiffany. No one deserves this punishment. I'm 28 minutes in. I would have walked off set at that point. Props to her for making it through this dreck.
Everyone getting back their Pre-Crisis memories is a good idea and should have been used in more titles, but it hasn't really come up more than once or twice as far as I know.
Is it possible to hate something and love something at the same time? That was this event.
I remember that RC car too! It was called The Animal!
I've been curious about this event for a while. There was so much to it that I was like "nah man, I'm good."
The first minute with the trick played on Tiffany and singing made me laugh where she was betrayed! “It’s a trap!”
The first minute and a half already made this one of the best Back Issues episodes.
I too relate with her, it would be a nightmare if I had to sit and listen to an explanation of Dark Nights Death Metal…and get terrified of the possibility of writers doing a Dark Perpetua
Dark Perpetua? SHE'S ALREADY EVIL! HOW DO YOU CRANK THAT UP TO 11?!
@@smashmaster521 your asking me they wouldn’t pull something out of their arse for that?
@@qliphalpuzzle5453 ...There is logic in what you say.
@@smashmaster521 I can hear the scribbling of notes from here
This episode is certainly a rewatch forever. Happy Holidays!
Tiffany's grinch sweater is just perfect!
It would be cool if James Gunn's reboot of the DCU starts with a Justice Society film set in the 50's, and a solo Superman film. Have Wonder Woman as a member of the Justice Society and then build the universe from there
It's a ComicPOP Christmas miracle!!!! (But not for Tiffany lol)
You can see the Metallica Fans in the crew. Vital information.....also Camden shout out! Go South Jersey!
Ben: “There are too many Green Lanterns”
DC: “so you say you want another one and 2 teen green lanterns, huh?”
Funnily enough, I would say the main lanterns present in this book (Hal, John, Guy, Kyle and Jess) are the only lanterns you really need but the DCU would feel empty with them.
OH MY GAWD!!!! Now this is a very pleasant surprise. I despise every DC Metal event, but you guys make anything Quite Enjoyable. Merry X-Mas and Happy Holidays everyone!!
This episode easily has one of the top 5 openings you guys have ever done.
That rendition of One was *chefs kiss*
Holy crap you guys finally did it!!!! I can tell this one’s gonna be good based on the runtime alone lmao
As much as that intro kills me I adored every second of it. Happy Holidays everyone!
My 3rd Holiday special with you guys! Never been better. Happy Holidays🥰
Great video! I really hope we get to see 52, Secret Wars 2015, No Mans Land, more Ultimate Spider-Man, and Multiversity sometime in the new year.
Now I need the snyder cut version of this with all of the tie ins added and it's black and white and in a 4:3 aspect ratio in 4 years.
Comic Pop does Dark Crisis - the Movie!! This is pure & delightful madness!
As Detective Benoit Blanc (Knives Out) says "It makes no damn sense!!! Compels me though."
My favorite and only tie-in I bought was when the cosmic ghost rider enters and just writes down the events of Death metal
Revenge is to force Sal to talk about Onslaught again. Just planting that seed folks. Then forget to record it again. (Evil cackle)
Twas the back issues before Christmas
And the book may kick/suck ass
But Sal is sick to damn death
Of the Batman Who Laughs
I have been reloading TH-cam all day but it's here, thank you for the Christmas and birthday present
I got out of comics a few years back for various reasons and I’m just now starting to dabble back into them. I’m so happy to see Comic Pop still doing its thing. In a way I can almost say this channel got me hooked on comics twice now lol.
Sal and Ben singing made my night I laughed so hard😂😂😂
Death metal in all was chaotic, but the video is amazing. Well done
I remember hearing something about Apex Lex Luthor and I was convince that Death Metal was about that but you can't even imagine my shock when it turned out to be the Batman Who Laughs AGAIN.
