What I love about Hawkeye is that he doesn't have any powers or futuristic tech he's just a regular guy trying to survive in a world filled with people with powers, technology, magic, and literal gods. And the very thing that keeps him alive are his wits, determination, bow, and his smartass mouth.
I mean hawkeye is clearly the bravest avenger, right? Strongest of heart, mind, and soul. Dude fights literal gods and monsters with a bow and some wit. No armor, no serum, no magic, just quick wit, a smart mouth, and a good shot.
While Hawkeye was kind of the wildcard and the origin of conflict in the Avengers, he never took it to the absurd levels of Guy Gardner, and he never become annoying.
Hawkeye was so freaking good. He was on a one man crusade against Hydra just to get to Widow and was doing pretty good. Add in a couple friends and Hydra should've ran at first sight of him. My favorite part has to be when Black Widow goes to him at the cell and he just unleashes his anger on her. That scene was sublime dramatic storytelling right there.
EMH Hawkeye was low key such a badass, like I remember my last rewatch I was paying attention to times he either steals the show or basically wins the fight for the team and it happens quite a lot. Like they just kinda would give him an arrow to deal with one or the more troublesome enemies randomly My only bummer is we never followed up on him and widows romance even a little after the cube episode
The thing that sold Hawkeye's character to me in this show was when he had his arms broken but still tried to fight anyway, you could see his arms dangling from their sides but he was still charging towards his enemy.
Honestly I always liked this and Avengers Assemble versions of Hawkeye. He comes off as confident, loyal, smart witted and a sense of humor. He has his insecurities but knows when things go to far. I like Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye he can do comedy, but they made him into the more straight man and veteran of the avengers compared to his animated counterparts. This makes him feel like weird when compared to his other appearances. Thanks for another great video
Yeah, mcu hawkeye never got a real chance to be a character (haven't seen the show) but if they leaned into a sarcastic veteran spy he would have been more loved
Assemble Hawkeye was literally one of the reasons I even liked that show. That show took away emh so I don’t like it but when assemble Hawkeye is on screen I enjoy it a little bit.
In almost every adaptation, Hawkeye is the strongest Avenger and perhaps the most relatable member. I really like what this show did with the character and his dynamic with team members like Hulk, Black Panther, etc., and I kinda liked his budding romantic relationship with Natasha. Even though I personally am not the biggest fan of whenever they make Black Widow and Hawkeye a couple, I feel like having them as equals but really great friends is a bit more endearing. Nevertheless, I do think this series does a better job with their relationship. Hawkeye is a man who follows his instincts and follows them in the best way he possibly can. He's not a man gifted with a super soldier serum or a man with a suit of armour that can fly, nor can he shrink or have the strength to punch mountains or bring down lightning; he's just an ordinary guy with a bow and arrows. Hawkeye just does what he can and helps people by following what his heart tells him. However, he can sometimes jump to conclusions and rightfully distrusts SHIELD; he is still not naive and just follows his wits and determination, and after his time with the Avengers, he grows to trust his friends, even when he's conflicted with Natasha secretly working as a double agent against HYDRA.
This hawkeye had such a great subplot. He is framed by his parnter, he wants revenge but learns to forgive and his personality just elevates the teams interactions. And even though he has no extraordinary powers he is still a true hero through and through, even saving the other avengers lives countless times.
They sent a guy with a bow and arrow and a girl with wrist blasters to fight the HULK who's taken on entire armies. They only managed to nab Bruce because he was distracted and they got REALLY lucky.
Hulk's had it rough in the MCU, but the thing 2012 Avengers did right was having the normies (and Black Widow, who was already shown to be a badass) be terrified of the Hulk. I would have preferred if EMH had shown that Hulk could have badly hurt them at will, but chose not to. Instead it looks like he's getting worked by a pair of highly trained regular ass humans.
I love Hawkeye he’s great. he’s the part of the avengers who I relate to most when people say something like “give me a bow and arrow I’m practically Hawkeye” they mean it as a criticism but i think that’s the point he’s not super smart or very special but he can still be on the same team as a god a green monster a rich dude and captain mother fucking America. He’s the every mans hero.
Speaking of best version of the Character, I personally find Carol Danvers from Earth Mightiest Hero is the best version of the character, she's not invincible and can be overpowered, reasonable, words first before punching, won't draw any conclusion unless there's evidence, care for her teammate. Lightyear better than the MCU version
I think Earths mightiest heroes Hawkeye was the best adaptation seeing him going through Trust issues and proving his innocence to the Friendship with Hulk was Cool and I was not Surprised that Captain America was on Hawkeyes side with the Hydra Issue as he is the one who wants the most to finally take them Down after all his Years fighting them in the Past.
And outside of the MCU and Comics after Avengers 1, this is the last time you see Clint treated with any real respect. Seriously what happened to the people who write for him? They treat the She-Ruski with more respect than him, and she's 90% used for fighting when her primary specialty is supposed to be espionage
Ah, Mocking Bird. A spin on DC's Black Canary. But unlike her, Bobby's only "powers" are acrobatics and a metal stuff. Hawkeye's tool is at least a modernised, sophisticated lethal weapon. Mocking Bird is so meta- codename.
Great video, been enjoying your channel! If I may give a good faith critique; I think the balance on the music audio is just a smidge louder than your voice
I like Hawkeye because is the spy of the team in all aspects You have Batman Tchalla and Ironman with the invisible armour but Clint is a spy, knows info, acts quickly in bad situations and like he says is more talk than fighter or honor warrior like the wakandian or Captain
When i watched this the first time i was realls shocked that black widow didnt Join the team by the end of the season, and even more by the end of season 2
My first exposure to Hawkeye is from the 90s Avengers cartoon, not the best introduction I know, but that's what happened with me. 😅 I do greatly enjoyed Earth's Mightiest Heroes version the best. 😊
Quite enjoying these dives into EMH. Though your voice seems quiet, at least compared to the rest of the video. Not sure if it's just me or if anyone else has this issue. For context, I'm wearing headphones.
I agree that Hawkeye is the most relatable, which is interesting because Black Widow is also a human without powers, a serum, or a high tech suit. I think maybe Black Widow is less relatable because she’s an extremely attractive woman, which is basically a superpower 😂
This is easily the best version of Hawkeye. In the comics and movies, he's very boring. Here, he's funny, cool, and important. I also like how we get a better feel of what it was like for him to work for Shield. Chris Cox gave a brilliant performance.
Dude, I love your videos, especially on EMH as they bring light to a show I love. But PLEASE balance the music and audio better. I can barely hear what the characters and you are saying half the time.
My first exposure to Hawkeye was in Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow. While he never appears, you learn a lot about him through the way others talk about him and the legacy he left behind. I often find myself comparing other versions to that version. Avengers EMH Hawkeye fit perfectly with what Next Avengers Hawkeye was capable of doing. He's resourceful, capable of surviving a post apocalyptic world taken over by Ultron, capable of leading survivors. These are characteristics that always stick about what Hawkeye is capable of doing. That always look for in a portrayal of Hawkeye.
Love your analysises of this show. It was amazing when it came out and I wish more people talked about it today, especially with us now being in an age of show revivals. Only thing I will correct you on with this is referring to Nick Fury as "Nick Fury Jr." at 21:53. While his origin is similar to Nick Fury Jr. with his father being a WWII veteran, this is Nick Fury Sr.(or I guess technically not Sr. either since we don't know if he has a son or not). Unlike Nick Fury Jr., his father is Jack Fury. I honestly miss the season 1 design of Fury for this show, since it seemed like a perfect mix in design of Nick Fury Sr. and Jr. But unfortunately season 2 redesigned him to resemble Nick Fury Jr. more, most likely to be more like the movies or worse, to be another failed and unneeded connection to Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. Aside from that small misinformation, I think you did an amazing job on this, and I'm glad I stumbled upon this and your other EMH videos. Keep up the great work!
It’s on Disney+, not sure if it’s anywhere else. Disney does, however, have one of the episodes out of order. The first 2-part episode on their list is supposed to come after the… 6? 7? episodes of character introductions. Aside from that, it’s a good watch.
First video I've seen on this channel. Easy like n sub for me. Hawkeye will always be my favorite. I always rock with the bow guy in any piece of media. People can make their jokes about him being the underpowered archer 🏹. The fact that a regular dude does anything as well as he is inspiring.
