Actually massive for lower level players. I'm a couch warrior and casual with no main and went from not being able to IDJ period to being able to consistently IDJ aerial out of shield in about three minutes with no changes to controls (I was already playing with both left shoulder buttons as shield). Great QoL tech for slow hand folks.
I just tested it out, so I don't know all the details, but you don't need tap jump to do the full hop idj, you just need to jo a normal jump right after a short jump within a couple frames and you'll get the full hop version of the idj. yeah that's what idj is, tap jump just makes idj easier. personally I use two fingers on one trigger (ZR) for my idjs; middle finger kind of flicks down past the trigger pressing it and then sliding off the bottom edge, then my index finger lands on the trigger right after. makes idjs really easy and consistent even without being in hitstop or endlag.

People dont realize how meta changing tech like this is. Especially when theres 9 more on the way, it could revitalize the game and change the outcomes of future games
Only if people aren't too lazy to use it. Which often happens and it's sad. If someone does uses all the tech in Ultimate they will be ahead of most people.
Should make a Back to the Lab bomber jacket at some point, probably black. I think that'd be enough to push me over the edge to buy.
wait why is dsc getting reposted three months after the fact
IDJ B-reverse R.O.B. Up special time!!
This is wildly awesome
Bro who's house is burning down in the background 6:11
Now can Lucas finally be top tier pls
ok the full hop IDJ thng confused me a bit
why do can you buffer a full hop IDJ with tap jump and how ,but not without it ?
also is it possible to do a full hop IDJ without tapjump ,if you do a specific timing ?
You got me at Lucas wavedash
I’m coming back to this game
ty for saving uli
We got Reposte in Smash before GTA6
This is impractical for Steve since he can’t use shield+special and every Steve has a trigger set to special
Same for links. We have to have 2 jumps, 2 specials and 2 grabs unless you give up OoS ZARs or doing Fairloop consistently. Really giving up any of those would be a major setback just to footstool OoS when I already can with a little more inputs
I dont do fancy tech but I watched all of this cause I love high level smash
