I found that when I aim to flick back from the initial dash, if I aim closer to 6 o'clock (which feels like 7 o'clock to me assuming my initial dash is 9 o'clock) I'll get the back jump animation. When I aim to down back in the diagram (let's say 5 o'clock), I end up with the regular jump animation as I do the slingshot. I am going to assume that I actually end up overshooting the threshold in the latter when I aim for the down back in the diagram. Reading the comments, I guess I'm accidentally IRAR then? I suppose I'll keep practicing to get the slingshot perfectly just in case the animation changes the hurtbox to protect me then.

@@nl8784 I would think it should be easier on gamecube controller because of the octagonal gate. I'm probably just exceptionally bad at analog inputs because I only ever played fighting games on a fight stick. :v
Maybe Gimr didn't mention it to avoid confusion but you can get a Slingshot by pushing your control stick anywhere from down back to very slightly back of down not just in the down back gate like the diagrams imply.
My left earbud went brr in during the intro
I'm still having a very hard time performing a slingshot - I don't seem to be able to move or release the stick fast enough. Is there a macro I can do with the C stick to slingshot more reliably in case I accidentally hold the diagonal for too long as it keeps happening?
unfortunately the cstick version is generally harder.
Yes my guy! You can C-stick diagonally to slingshot! Although its easier, the true slingshot is better because the C-slingshot forces an attack!
-sent after Gimr commented and I didnt see his comment until I sent mine… Personally I find it easier, I guess Gimr finds it harder, I don’t wanna argue with Gimr so for some people-like myself and this dude who find it hard to flick it might be easier, I guess for most people its harder
I just learned that ive been doingholdshot special moves with pichu without even knowing it, BUT NOW i got a better idea to do it consistently
So, what's the next crazy move after this?
People can say he’s milking this, but at least he’s not reacting to “unusual memes”.
Coney moment
I feel like one of these days people are going to shit on us for playing ultimate because we like the movement options better than the new smash game.
Sounds familiar
@@Ithaca-vv5dy History repeats
In 10 years people are gonna be buying switches and the best type of controllers just like wth melee.
My left ear really liked that intro lol
So it’s a RAR without the Aerial? 🤔
Beautifully done good sir!
I really need glasses I kept reading fuckshot
Yup, this that video I be sharing.
Can this be worked with Yoshi ariels? Im trying to get back into the competative scene and Ridley was gettign bullied so now im looking to Yoshi and found your slingshot tech and was wondering how I could incorperate it.
Should I map my controller a better way to do this more
Bro you clutch AF THANK YOU!!
It’s crazy to me how this is still not considered game changing. The number one I dislike about ultimate is that you can’t analog jump anymore, and this opens up options that are somewhat similar.
What do you mean analog jump, you can turn on tap jump if you want
@@shiverian5970Tap jump isn’t analog in ultimate, it’s digital, there’s still only short hop or full hop. Previous games the you had complete control over how high you jumped with stick jump.
What's the best slingshot for cloud? Flickshot?
I didn't quite get the reverse upSmash inputs, anyone that can help? Like how's the jump cancel
Hello Dr.Gim, I was curious: does this work with Ryu/Ken/Terry/Kazuya 1v1 or is that covered in the video? (:
Came back to this video after seeing Maria Robotnic practicing her slingshotting
My controller has extra buttons that can map control stick inputs and it's made slingshot super easy and consistent
What controller do you use?!?!?!
I will understand it better by and by.
Why is this vid not more widespread 😂😂 ive been struggling tryna learn timing with forward back jump this it took me 5 tries and its so natural to execute wtf
Glad it was helpful!
@@GimR truly is! Its a more consistent alternative!
And with Fox ?
Hey gimr! Slingshot jump cancel item toss makes diddy able to glide toss pretty easily. I DMd you a video on Twitter
I want all the frame windows for each input for the flick shot from neutral. The way you explain it in the video is confusing to my peanut brain (no offense Peanut)
can you do this with procontroller and tap jump on?
Anyone know if this works with full hop?
yup!
So basically the same input as Bayonetta’s air after burner kick.
yo question, then how shall i do it witth an shoto ?
Your lab coat has some Dr. Robotnik potential😂
my left ear enjoyed the intro
Imagine pushing "X" to jump instead of "Y"
Who TF uses a X or Y instead of L or R is my question.
Imagine using x or y lol
If you didn’t keep getting as many views on this tech I would be mad myself. You really deserve this man
as a Ken/Ryu main this is hard. It is also hard to tell if I am doing it right or not but I can still notice some different movements.
6:29 does anyone have the inputs for this? DRF
Same thing as normal but you're buffering after a forward dash so it comes out really quickly after the back dash starts.
@@GimR so it's fdash, and since fdash is bufferable, we use the bdash and then dtilt jump in one go?
Also since your here I was wondering if you can give me ideas for pac man.
The pac discord only got the b reverse and bounce, when inputting the slingshot, and can use this as a mix up not much else thou. Can that be due to the floatyness and aerials pac has?
How useful is the sling shot for incineroar and do you know if sky jay uses it? I have been watching some of his recent matches but don’t really know what to look for to tell if he is using it or not
Honestly I feel like slingshot should only be used when needed as a unpredictable mechanic so like once in blue moon just to catch someone off guard and not be predictable.
Absolutely
? it makes shield pressure safer?? Is a better turnaround on many characters *in most instances* it literally just makes moving easier , it should be utilized all the time lmaoo
@@nuorotikc until someone finds a counter
@@enkanomiya5283 nothing to counter, is just using buffer system to achieve shmovement. how is buffering a max airspeed turnaround jump not just inherently very good. Movement has infinite potential and is like half of smash OF COURSE ur gonna use this very useful tech. Like falcons turnaround is shit but he can just slingshot away instead shifting his hurtbox, INSANELY good and relevant, that's just one example too
For the hold shot, I can’t seem to find a difference between holding down-back versus just holding full-back. Is there something I’m missing?
does anyone have the right timing with trigger jump? I can slingshot with X or Y but I'm not used to these jump options and since trigger jump is more sensitive i'm having a really hard time
so, with holdshot allowing you to buffer a retreating down b input, has anyone tested whether or not this opens up any mythra to pyra swap shenanigans?
will work on it, if i have something i’ll edit this (someday)
How do you do that instant pivot grab?
Awesome! Any tips for someone without a gamecube controller?
Add notches at the instant reverse downtilt areas XD
On a pro controller, instead of ‘doing a flick’ try doing a quarter circle back. ChocoTaco made a video on it, just search on TH-cam ‘Slingshots made easy’ and he’ll explain it! :)
Do you NEED to do a move before the slingshot? I see you using a lot of tilts and movements before slingshotting, wondering if that's necessary or if you can just do it standing still.
Do you have a recommended stick sensitivity for slingshotting more consistently with a pro controller?
I have to use a nano controller cause I've got tiny woman hands and I was wondering if I can slingshot with that. My friend told me it only works with gamecube controllers because of the angles. Is it just way more difficult to do it without a gamecube controller to the point of it just being impractical? Would y'all recommend trying to master it without that controller? I really wanna learn how but it's hard for me to use a normal sized controller TT_TT
I noticed that when I perform the flickshot, sometimes instead of jumping backwards while facing forwards at max air speed, I instead jump backwards while facing forwards at a slower speed. Does anyone know how I should be fixing this? Have been trying to just memorize timings to avoid it but I'd rather know the culprit so I can actively work to avoid it. Thanks!
I know this is an old comment but you’re not doing down back accurately enough, sounds like you’re just doing a RAR.
Heavy tech video? Nice
I’m so busy trying to learn steve tech that I have yet to learn how to slingshot still :(
