The difference in scores between Geekbench and Antutu (iPhone winning in CPU in one but losing in the other) is because the testing done in Geekbench is similar between the iOS and Android versions, and thus more relevant (as relevant as synthetic benchmarks can get, which is not a lot). I'm not the biggest fan of Apple products or their business practices. What intrigues me about a new iPhone launch, is the competition it brings to the market. I would still pick an Android over this for NUMEROUS reasons. But if there's anyone that can get developers to consider mobile gaming seriously, that would be Apple. I just hope that it translate to the entire mobile market, not just an Apple exclusive that dies after a year.
I think a problem that plagues them the most is longevity. Yes they can be supported for a while. Yes they can have a decent quality. But you know what’s not? Once that support period ends apps start to not work, I’ve seen a comparison of the first Android and iPhone and only the Android was able to use TH-cam the iPhone was a brick and this is years later. App support is way longer on Android.
I remember the really bad gaming experiences on iphones due to closed down connectivity to gamepads and external screens. Will never try that again after switching to Android years ago.

Why do so many people harp on about Apple not being ‘into gaming’ just because there are allegedly few mainstream AAA ports to macOS?
Do you not know about Apple Arcade? And have you not seen how much the mobile gaming (and therefore iOS) market is worth? It shits on PC and consoles in terms of revenue and profit generated.
I personally don’t play games on my iPhone, but beyond that I’ve been happily playing tons of games on my MacBooks for over a decade, even though I build my own gaming PCs.
Over a third of my Steam library is playable on macOS, plus plenty in my Epic, Gog and Itch libraries. I’m currently enjoying Divinity Original Sin and Celeste on my MacBook Air M1, and looking forward to getting stuck into Disco Elysium and then Wasteland 3.
Of course, it’s not really gaming if it’s not COD, is it? Gotta love the g@MerZ
(Side note: I also do game dev as a hobby, and over the past few years have been using Unity, Godot, Defold, and GameMaker on my MacBook without issues. UE5 installs and runs okay, but it’s a bit too demanding for my lowly base model Air to be altogether useful!)
