This is a true definition of a quality content. The USB C on I phone proved to be more useful than initially thought. Thanks for the video.
never thought usb c would be useful
@@mustardmcmugginswhy not? it makes everything so much more convenient, faster charging speed, faster data speed, less cables for each device, and adds compatibility with a bunch of other parts like in this video.
Appreciate that 🙏🏻
@@eggrollsoup True
@@eggrollsoupexcept they didn’t increase the charging speed.
I can’t even explain how much I appreciate a video like this. Clear, straight to the point and informative with no fluff. Good stuff

🚨 UPDATE on audio interfaces: I connected a Focusrite Vocaster two via USB-C, it turns on and is recognized by Ferrite on the iPhone. So it seems the power needs of an audio interface will determine whether you can use it directly with the iPhone 15 Pro.
You could just use a powered hub and plug your device into that
That is what was driving me insane in your video. You most likely already have the solution which is to use the powered USB C switch you were using at the start of the video. No shit a lot of those devices didn’t work since the port on the phone can only put out 4.5 watts.
Whats the max input charging wattage and is the 15/15max pro different ? What’s the max output video output frames per second and is it 720,1080 or 4K? Does garage band work for touch pads or any instrument with or without type c external power .? Is the audio louder on earpeace and regular videos any better or louder than the iPhone 12-14?
Can you plug a digital piano into the iPhone 15 Pro via USB-B to USB-C cable? So that I can use Voice Memos to record myself playing piano digitally
The same is most likely true for the webcam, where as the Elgato HD60S(+) most likely doesn't work, because it needs drivers. Where I'd bet that an Elgato CamLink (4K) would work with a powered hub(?).
I'm an Android guy and it's so nice for iPhone users to FINALLY get all these USB C features they were missing out on.
Yeah, lightning was an absolute scam. I waited to buy a new iPhone until til it was gone.
Wait? These features were missing on lightning? Surely they could have implemented these features regardless of the cable?
Thanks to the EU for forcing them to upgrade. So much for "innovation".
I’m iPhone guy , Hey android guy, your android phone looks like Shit from software to hardware

‼️ Part 2: I tested audio interfaces and video devices with powered USB hubs! Watch here: th-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2DnjX2G-tgjsPqBz
🚨 LATEST UPDATE: What works and what doesn't via USB-C
- USB Keyboard works, even through hub ✅
- Mouse does work via Bluetooth and Accessibility Touch
- External SSD ProRes video recording works through hub ✅
- iPhone CAN POWER THE STUDIO DISPLAY 🤯
- Webcam does not work, even if plugged into a powered hub 🚫
- USB mic can be plugged into a hub and still works ✅
- Some audio interfaces will work through hub or direct, like the Focusrite Vocaster ✅
Awesome came here to ask about a powered hub for the ones that didn’t work..awesome
Thanks
Incredible, the studio display connection & power is badass ngl. I want to see if the belkin rock star adapter can let you run a usb c SSD & 3.5mm external microphone.
With the Samsung flash drive that you featured work at Prores 4k60? I ask because I'm seeing that you need a write speed data rate of 200mb/s and it looks like that flash drive only does 120-130mb/s. It looked like in your video you did 4k30.
Thanks for the continued updates! I was curious if the ATEM Mini would show up as a webcam via its USB-C since it has external power.
Who would have though one of the most important feature of iPhone 15 is the USB-C port that Apple resisted so much.
Honestly I regret buying the 14pro just because of this.
Having a video so concise and straight to the point is greatly appreciated, just earned a sub 🎉
All my USB-C questions answered!
Thanks for a quick short informative video👍🏻
Appreciate that!
I tried my 15PM with the Rode AI-1 audio interface connected to my Sennheiser MKH416 and it worked beautifully. This is a dream for quick pickups but I'll still use my MBPro for long VO sessions. So cool.
Awesome! And I tried a Vocaster Two directly with iPhone and that works too
Let's not forget who we need to really thank here 😌 🇪🇺
Yep, Thanks EU Regulators! Getting my first iPhone today.

Bummer that it couldn't power the audio interface, but I could see myself using the USB port to power a USB mic. Great video!
Yeah, maybe the 16 Pro will get Thunderbolt 😉
@@beardfmwhat if the interface has a power source?
My presonus audio box 96 worked fine
I doubt it. The Thunderbolt 3/4 specification requires a port to supply 15W of power. The USB4 spec requires 7.5W. And USB 3.2 requires 4.5W. While I can see them upping it to 7.5W and giving us USB4, I doubt they'd go for 15W with such a small battery.@@beardfm
Now this is the first YT video that’s showing us what the iPhone 15 Pro can do.
man u are awesome , after a long time am not fastforwarding or skipping the video , straight to the point . no useless fillers . u are rocking

One of the most clear and concise videos I have ever seen on youtube. All of my questions were answered! Keep it up man!!
Appreciate that! I do even more testing, including connecting to a Studio Display, here: th-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=peApXj774cv_yAFv
Very enjoyable and informative video thank you!. Generally curious if you would consider doing a video on usb 3.0 transfer speeds? I haven't seen any videos on it so far aside from ssds and video recording. I tried using a usb 3.0 10gb cable to restore a backup from itunes and it was still 50 min to restore. Checked cpu usb headers to make sure it's usb 3.0 and confirmed the cable was working but still was so slow. I haven't tried video but I guess this leads into does it even worth with itunes for data transfer speeds or only videos and ssds in general?
Excellent tests. Was hoping that USB hub would work with power delivery and HDMI. Awesome. Subbed. 👌
Thanks!
what a lovely video demonstration. To the point, no nonsense. Congrats and keep it up
One of the most informative and easy to understand quality video on TH-cam right now.
Very well made.

To the point and exhaustive! Thank you so much!!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
that’s exactly the kinda video i was searching for thank you very much
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for doing this!! had so many questions regarding this!
Great stuff. Very cool that a USB hub can do all that including Ethernet! Do you know if any external SSD's allow for the 10Gb/s transfer speed available on the 15 Pro/Max or is that limited to laptop interfaces? Most external SSD's seem to tap out at around 1,000Mb/s with a few at 2000Mbs.
External SSD speeds are at 1000MB/s which is approximately 8Gbps. So, you will be better off with any of those.
If I had to guess, the webcam would work if you the iPhone gets simultaneous power delivery. Try connecting webcam through the USB C dock + power.
These are similar issues I’ve faced with lightning connector accessories with iPad mini 5
I heard the USB Type C on the new iphones are only Type C 2.0, apparently limiting data transfer speeds to under 500 megabytes.
On iPhone 15 Pro models the USB-C port supports faster USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s, provided you're using the right cable. Regular 15 and 15 Plus only support USB 2.@@chazmichaelmichaels88
@@chazmichaelmichaels88 USB 2.0 is 40 MBytes / s or 480 MBit / s. 500 MBytes / s is USB 3.0.
My main work flow for the iPhone is in recording the pro res videos to the drive and storing photos on the drive from iCloud after editing them. Having usb c on my iPad Pro made my workflow so much easier than the lightening iPad I had before. Having usb c on the iPhone will definitely make it easier to use my phone on shoots by directly recording to the drive and editing later when in DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
I mean you could’ve of use the lighting to usb c cord you must like had to connect it already
@@JustxLiving909the issue is the slow transfer speeds of lighting as well… ProRes files are HUGE
Love it when people try to convince themselves they made a great purchase by using a technical term like Work flow, if this actually had anything to do with your job you wouldn't be using an iphone to record the video.
This was exactly what I was looking for.. thank you for making this video
Glad it was helpful!
Great video thanks for explaining everything in detail, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Great video. I’m just hoping this makes it more compatible with a Windows PC. I hate never being able to access all my photos and videos through the lightning/USB.
Have you tried backing up and restoring with the iPhone 15 pro max on a Mac/PC? Is the time significantly faster now with usb 3.0? Thanks!
Love this video! Feed was bombarded with same typical videos, finally a different video about the phone that actually matters!
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching
Exactly what I was looking for. Excellent video.

The most useful video about the iPhone’s ability with USB-C on TH-cam. I’ve been looking. It’s like they overlook the file transfer, the way recording ProRes, and photo video dump for the things covered in the Keynote only.
Appreciate that 🙏🏻
Thanks for EU
This is a great video and I'm glad to see the excitement around it. Funny though that many of these peripherals have been supported for years now (Lightning and even some back to 30pin days). iOS has had generic drivers for things like Keyboard and Ethernet for many years.
Yep, the iPhone has been more limited by the USB 2 speeds than the connector type. The iPad Pro had USB 3 over lightning and most of this stuff worked back then.
But now you can buy $10 peripherals an generic keyboards for half the price.
The coolest video about the iPhone usb c I’ve seen so far!!! Keep it up brother.
Appreciate that! Got a follow-up video here too: th-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GGkR-TAjhV0gywxp
Best iPhone 15 video out right now. No editing fluff and actually new and useful information. Tyvm sir 🙏
Thank you, appreciate that 🙏🏻
I tried a USB mixer on my new iPhone after you said it didn't work for you, and it worked for me, I did have to power the mixer separately, but the stereo phantom powered binaural mics worked well. I'm quite impressed with the new phone, an external SSD works on the iPhone 15 pro max, but not the iPhone 14 pro max! Must be something to do with the connectors?
Yes I’ve found different audio interfaces will work! The Vocaster Two works in my testing. And the 14 Pro didn’t have USB 3.0 speeds from the port, I think that’s a big reason why.
This made me smile. Going usb-c makes such a massive difference. 😊
Loving it!
Almost 10 years behind and this excites yall. Wow

Hi Stephen! Maybe the webcams and audio interfaces would work with a usb c hub connected to power? I’m super curious to know if this works.
That was exactly my thought. I mean, technically you wouldn’t expect the phone to power these devices. You would have a hub where they are powered directly off mains.
he tried in a new video th-cam.com/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/w-d-xo.html

I was thinking the same thing. That, or try to plug an audio interface with a separate power supply.
Would have been interesting to compare what USB 2.0 can do.
Yesss....
Great video, it showed me some techniques I didn’t know were possible. I subscribed today
Awesome! Thank you!
absolutely. you had given me an idea on how to use my iPhone 15 and all the devices that will be using USB-C
Thanks for the video.
Works just like on iPad Pro. And on any Android, i suppose! 😆
Apple should have done this earlier.
But thanks to Europe (they passed a law according to which only phones with a USB Type-C port are allowed) we now have it.
I only wish my iPad Pro have 2 Type-C instead of just 1.
@@Dannyblazer1985 It's good for everyone. Lightning was great... 10 years ago, when it compete with micro USB! 😁
Yep nothing new here..
I used my S22 with Ethernet adapter for a month connected to my wireless hub, total 280GB of mobile data used. Worked perfectly while I was waiting for fiber connection.

This was the video I didn’t know I needed.
It only took me a few seconds of this EXCELLENT VIDEO to know that I need to be subscribed.

I did this 9 years ago on my android phones. 9 years. 9. That's a long time for Apple to finally catch up to what every android phone, even the ones under $100, can do.
And remember, they only did this because they were forced. They could have done this so much earlier. I like the Apple eco-system, but the absence of the USB-C port on the iPhones was just stupid.
And your point is?
They can do this 9 years ago. But apple want to sell more lighting cable and MFI product to squeeze out money. tIM CoOK
@@blue_ig1his point was Apple was keeping features that were easily implemented from you and others due to their greed.... and now people are acting like they're getting something new and great, when they're just finally catching up to features we've had on Android for literally a decade or more 🤣
@@blue_ig1 That's Apple stupidity. An IPhone user who can not see the point. Sadly for Apple. They can't make any profit out of this worldwide embraced USB-C standard. Cables are very cheap. 10 usb-c cables for 1 lightning cable. ok, 5 cables.
Literally after 10 years.
Even though USB-C is at max 9 years old? 😂
This is what makes me want to keep it. I have considering returning it from seeing all the break tests that people have been doing. I am usually a caseless person but that seems INCREDIBLY risk with, ironically, a phone that is built of titanium!! Also, it seems like my 13 still has better battery life but maybe it’s just early days and battery life for the 15 pro max will improve? I have until Thursday to return this send my 13 back
