In a tense press conference with intense scrutiny and a million things going on in the world and at home jumping from topic to topic with reporters trying to trip him up for their 30 sec viral clip, I don't care if he mixes up something. If he called the Mexican president to negotiate an Israeli peace deal, or if he sent Ukrainian military aid to Mexico by accident, then I'd be worried.

It's a valid concern. Humans are (unfortunately) visual and emotional creatures, so it does matter how he comes off publicly. There's the famous televised debate between JFK and Nixon, where Nixon was the better debater, but JFK won on the image.
Literally watch any video of Obama, and then come back and watch a video of Biden. This is a concern and Democrats CANNOT become defensive and dismissive about it.

I actually catered for a fundraising event for Biden in LA back in 2020 right before everything went crazy. I distinctly remember him coming up to talk to all of the staff at the end (after like four hours of speaking and taking pictures). He was engaging, funny, and he made us feel valued. He was also super sharp and held a conversation better than I could being half his age. I don't always agree with him and his decisions (I voted for Warren that year in the Primary) but I have to say that these last few years have felt like we're getting back on track as a Country. He's got my vote

What people need to remember is that the President does not run the country alone. He has a staff that helps to make decisions. I would rather have an elderly President with a moral, educated, experienced staff helping him to run the country.
Also, as far as dates, my mother and brother both died from terminal cancer. It was one of the most devastating times of my life. To this day, I cannot remember the actual year they died. My memories are very sharp about what they went through before they died and how it affected our family.

My dad passed around 10 years ago and my brother passed around 8 years ago. I don’t remember the exact day and year of their deaths; I just remember the month only because dad died around Valentines and brother died around Halloween. I’m half of Joe Biden’s age and I don’t consider myself or my memory weak. I have a strong memory of many things but the exact date of death or birth is not something I focus on or worry about.
I wish there were more discussion around what makes a good an effective president and who might have those qualities even if not a candidate rather than who has the best chance to win.
The idea of Donald, the guy who chronically and iconically welshes on his own debts, would call out anyone else for non payment would be laughable if it weren't so perilous.

Why are they not getting Harris out there? When you have an old quarterback, and you have one waiting in the wings, give them play time. Put her in play. Voters need to see and believe that she is ready to take the reins. Do that, and all the old age bull won’t matter. It's obvious that the American people want Trump back very badly. You may not like what Trump says but at least he is out there every single day. He will also go in depth and tell us what's going on behind the scenes without media propaganda censoring it. Conservatives completely own social media and Trump doesn't need donors or the media. The last 120 polls show Trump winning the popular vote plus he has historic support from Black and Latino communities. It's over. Trump will win and Republicans will easily take House and Senate.

I prefer Bernie and the Squad’s policies. However, Biden was able to put together enough votes to pass bills that have helped people. He seems to have been flexible and moved left on issues, but he has the political skills to get things done.
I could never vote for Drumpf. Warren was my first choice, and Bernie was my second. I voted for Biden, and he exceeded my expectations. I vote for a Representative, not a leader. If they have leadership qualities, thats a big plus. Drumpf exhibits symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder. Always has. T doesn’t pay his own bills
I'm a tiny bit concerned about Biden's age, mostly because things _could_ go downhill pretty quickly with the elderly. That happened with my bff's grandmother. Sharp as a tack until 6 months before her death, when she rapidly declined in mind & body. BUT, this was after her 100th birthday!
However, I am not concerned about Biden's abilities AS THEY STAND now, and if this is as much as it gets in the next 2 decades, he'll be fine. Shuffling doesn't bother me since I'm not an ableist. I had a college friend who could only shuffle, holding himself up with walls and furniture. (Thus the wheelchair) Nothing wrong with his _brain_, obviously, since he was in college. Bident forgets stuff for a minute, but so do you and I. He doesn't seem to actually forget anything permanently, just having "argh, it's on the tip of my tongue" moments.
As for momentarily blanking on the exact date of his son's death; I don't remember exactly what day my father died 8ys ago either, without thinking about things *around* the day. I remember the month, that it was the 2nd week, and that I was pregnant. Said baby's birthday I remember very well, so I just work back. I had ppd starting from about 8 weeks gestation, which his death did not help, so a lot of that year is fuzzy. Needless to say, I am still one or two years from being considered "elderly." Biden was dealing with a lot of stuff both back then and when the interviewer was talking to him. Even if he _were_ losing the plot, which I don't think he is, I'd still pick him over 45 or Haley. Or Kennedy, because _that_ dolt thinks vaccines are worse than the diseases they protect against.

I agree with Jones' comment, but specifically in terms of the age issue, "This is about Trump." If you care about cognition, judgment, thought processes, the problem is Trump, not Biden. While Biden should get out there and answer complicated policy questions, etc., Trump's crazy-status should be highlighted.

Jon Stewart nailed it last night; Biden, and the Biden campaign need to show where Biden is sharp, not just have people say "He is sharp". First hand video will go a long way here. Especially when Trump is claiming "they" will rename Pennsylvania
He has given plenty of good speeches where he seems sharp. The media keep saying Biden needs to prove it but every time he demonstrates normal, competent behavior, they don’t pay any attention. The issue with this position is there’s nothing he can do that will make the media say “wow, look at him being up to the job!”
That’s what got me so annoyed. There is plenty of recent footage of him being very sharp. The most recent, and significant, being his speech on the 6th Jan. Biden spoke for almost 40 mins. He was sharp, he was emotive, he showed his anger, his fear about the state of the country, about the horrible narrative that Trump is pushing. Jon Stewart could have shown so many clips of that - but no, he showed the one where he didn’t sound great. This is the bs both-sideism that got us a Trump in the first place.

Exactly! I was very disappointed in The Daily Show/Jon Stewart for selectively showing clips that made Biden look bad and acting like that’s all that’s available.
Yeah he nailed it. Just because Biden is better, doesn't mean he's young enough to do that job. Although it's laughable that he kept saying it's the toughest job in the world. Really? Compared to the Royal Marines, Navy Seals, bomb disposal squads, rocket science, brain surgery? It's a super easy job, that requires a moderately smart and completely unqualified person who can make simple decisions. It is not bricklaying or juggling chainsaws on stage.
Mr. Jones is very impressive. Really liked what he said in this interview.

One of my brothers died when I was 31. I remember the date and year and will probably never forget them. Another of my brothers died when I was in my 50's. I remember the month, but I'd have to look up the exact date and year. As you get older, the years aren't as distinct as they are when you're younger. It doesn't mean that you don't remember things, it just means it's harder to place them in time.
I can hardly remember the year I was diagnosed with cancer. Traumatic events tend to have a fuzzy quality to them in memory, I've found.

My father-in-law lived to 107 1/2. He was an orchard farmer. He worked on his tractor up to the year before he died. He rode his 4-wheeler around the 40 acres of orchard up to his last year. He could add numbers, large numbers, in his head and know how many lbs of fruit would come from a certain tree by simply looking at the tree and its fruit. He knew his job inside and out. He also spoke slower and walked slower as he got older but make no mistake, this man never lost his mental faculties. He didn't die from any disease. He simply wore out. Younger people can help the older generation through this election. We are told by younger folks we automatically stink (I heard that on one podcast) that we are slow and that must mean we are in dementia. Give some respect to the elders. We need that so much. Mostly we are filed away for younger folks to wait until we die.
