alos Christian here, a paster should know better than anyone that infidelity nullifies vows. You broke the vow permanantly when you had an affair, she owes you nothing and is totally entitled to divorce you. Sadly, a lot of pastors think because they fancy themselves men of God that the ruls don't apply to them and they can never be wrong.
He’s the one that broke the vows and when the vows are broken….SHE DOESNT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING FOR HIM! She has nooooo obligation! Jesus said you can divorce for that so this “pastor” is making stuff up!
Preacher is one of the professions that attracts abusers. He picked her because he wanted someone he could control and he thought that age differential would make her vulnerable.
The cake OP was 16 years old, i remember that one! Their parents hadnt gotten them a cake for the previous 2 birthdays, so this custom cake was pretty significant to OP.

Birthday Cake~ I'm the friend that will speak up for others. If one of my friends told me this happened, I would tell her to go ahead and bring that cake on out. Then, in front of everyone, including her parents, I would ask why it's missing a piece. When she replied with the answer (I would act like I didn't know already), I would call out her parents on their BS in front of everyone. Sometimes, people need to be called out on their BS by others. They clearly don't listen to her.

the story with the pastor rubs me wrong because reasons like these are why im not christian anymore because the church i attended as a kid had a hands on punishment thing and after the fifth time i got punished for not remembering a passage from that day at 13 years old i decided to never go back and reported the church at 16 when i found out it was illegal for that behavior but was so common no one ever commented on it. so yeah this shit could be 100% possible and im glad she got out of there as soon as she could.
Im so sorry you experienced that. My grandfather is a pastor, and he is one the most narcissistic abusive p.o.s I've ever met. He was so awful to my dad when he was a child that my dad has ptsd from it and even now as an adult he's still awful. Like I do not trust nor like pastors.

OP from the birthday story should definitely have the birthday party and then be extremely passive aggressive and let everyone know why there’s a slice missing from the cake, and that they had to pay for everything themself. That pastor story started with a red flag that the guy was 44 and she was 29. That's 15 years difference. I know age is a number, and it doesn't matter as much the older you get, but it's so gross that she spent her twenties married to a man in his forties. And then the story just keeps getting worse. It's obvious that he has held all the power in this relationship, and up until the affair she was okay with that because she thought he was a good man. And then with the update, when she was talking about how she hated the baby and that was the final push that made her realize she couldn't stay, that just got me thinking about what a horrible situation this baby was born into. Maybe if its mom and twin lived it would be okay, but it has to grow up in that horrible man's house. *SHUDDERS*

The Pastor story. The Bible dose say that if a spouse is immoral there is cause for divorce. This girl needs to get new Christian friends to actually read the Bible. She can and should leave her husband. He is being very immoral and she should have nothing to do with him. If she was my friend or relative, I would give her my full support, and I am a Christian.

The story about the cheater and the baby, SJ is so right though. One of my cousins ex-husbands was a mad preacher of the Bible. I only met him the one time at Thanksgiving but he was all in religion preaching this and that blah blah blah. And then he went out cheated on her abused her physically and emotionally and was acting all crazy threatening her when she left and everything. Thinking it up in jail for a little bit of time. But a lot of these people hide behind these images because it's only outward appearances that matter to them. A lot of people, unfortunately, are not in these groups for the right reason. She's got plenty of time to leave him and go on about her day and I would tell the congregation while I'm at it. Are out all the dirty laundry so they know exactly who their pastor is and exactly why she left

What happened was tragic but it’s not on her to take care of her cheating husband’s kid.
